What Mini Goal is motivating you right now!

Posting my exercise hours for the month of July. 12 hours......the same as the month of May. An improvement over June, when my hours totaled 9. I'm new at this....so I don't know if 12 hours per month is just a regular habit. I plan to increase to 14 hours for August. Am I the only one who actually prefers exercising in the Fall over the Summer? 🙂
@newgam03 Hi! Just a friendly follow-up. Five weeks ago I posted my June exercise hours ....right under your post. You'd wanted to reach and maintain a goal...I suggested a tiny, non threatening 10 minute walk twice the first week...and add one day each week after that. It would take 6 weeks to reach a 10 minute walk every day. Did you give it a try? I hope you did....it's never too late to start!! I'll be back in 4 weeks 😊

Keep up the great work.

Ordered a few dresses last week for a shower/wedding in October and I'm really nervous that my favorite one won't fit. It's "my size" but Donna Karen often runs small, and this is not a stretchy material. The others I got from ThredUp and they will likely fit. The shoer dress is good, but I'm not sold on the alternate wedding guest dress. It's turquoise/black it may be too dark for a wedding. Making my weight loss a priority again. I really want to fit in my preferred dress.

I've been building up to exercising almost daily for the last couple of years, missing only 2 days so far this year, and 19 days each for 2024 and 2023. And I started out with short workouts before work, but since retiring at the end of 2023, I've built up to about an hour daily (mix of cardio, strength, and yoga). But with all that exercise, I haven't lost any weight or even inches because of eating too much. I've finally accepted I can't eat like my husband and adult son, so I started tracking my food this week…and lost 4.5 lbs so far (mostly water weight, but still nice). Losing around 35 lbs would put me into the top half of my healthy BMI range so that's my ultimate goal, but I'm taking it 10 lbs at a time, with my first small goal being 30 straight days of food tracking, with more healthy choices.

I ordered some 12W pants when they were on a great sale a few months ago. Said I would try them when I got to 220lbs, and weighed at 221.5. My 14/16W pants (same company) are starting to feel a little loose, so I'm hopeful I can fit in the smaller ones soon!

Dress zipped easily. Just need to get it hemmed and maybe even taken in a bit. Yay me!

I don't know if it's a mini goal, but on 2/27/25 I had a heart attack & on 3/3 I had a double bypass (I was 56). Everything has gone spectacularly well, except that my 9Round location closed less than two weeks after my surgery.
5 weeks ago I signed up for a 10 week boot camp at Ferrell's Extreme Bodyshaping. There's 38 of us in this group & whoever loses the biggest percentage of body fat wins $1,000. After my 4 1/2 week weigh in, I'm down 2% so far. The owners asked me if I thought I could win it, I said yes, but if I don't, I'm going to make whoever does win it work their @ss off to beat me

@vgpeterson1403 Bravo! I enjoyed reading about those lasting changes you are making (daily exercise, food tracking, more healthy choices).
I just sent you an invitation to a discussion group here on MyFitnessPal. I think it fits your goals, please come check us out if you'd like to meet some like-minded folks. (Anyone else reading this is invited as well!) I've been a member for just over two years now, and through lifestyle changes like the ones you have made, I've lost about 70 lbs in that time period.

Mini-goal: back under 200 and staying there. I was under all week until yesterday and today. I had a pretty significant family crisis on Sunday last, and wasn't worrying about anything but that. Still managed to weigh in at 199 on 8/11. Today was 201, but I had lots of salty foods this week, although mostly in small amounts or within my calorie deficit. Did lots of walking to help me deal with stress (over 40 miles), so I expect it will even out.

Mini goal right now is to hit 300 and then dip under. I've lost 7 lbs in 11 days, so it's progress!

My mini goal now is the Sprint Triathlon I've signed up and paid $150 for: happening on Aug. 30th. I've been training all summer, really since a mini (indoor) tri in early April. But it wasn't until last week that I biked over 15 miles in one go this year. I'm aiming for a 20 mile bike ride this Saturday morning, with running and swimming interspersed throughout the week.

How did 15 miles feel? Are you doing brick workouts? My legs were wobbly on the run if I pushed too hard on the bike.
I've done duathlons and century rides and rarely rode 100 miles training. At least early in my riding career. As time passed I did ride more centuries, but they weren't truly races.
Kind of like training for a marathon, you can train a little short of the full distance and still excel on race day. My husband rarely runs over 23 miles when training for a marathon, and does quite well on race day. Mentally he says when he hits 23 miles all he has left is a 5K and he can do that no problem.
Best of luck!

Recomp goal. Getting to 18% body fat. Would need to lose about 5lbs of fat and gain 3lbs of muscle. 1 inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips. It’s been challenging with summer vacations. Hopefully a Christmas goal. Also, run an ultra in 2026. Those are my two goals at the current.

SBB over the last 35 years I went from 230 to 190 and now I'm down to 150 and I want to be down to my college weight of 54 years ago. I eat healthy for the most part but my husband and I eat at our son and daughter -in- law's house sometimes weekly or once or twice a month.

I'm trying to be "slim" when I hit the Family Christmas Party just for shock value! my cousin and I made an informal pact. She is doing glp-1. I need to lose 30 lbs, but if I lost 20 I would be ecstatic.

I found some jeans in a charity shop but they only had 27in waist. They are about 2 inches too small, my goal is to fit into them.

Thank you! I've done sprint triathlons before, just not since my cancer surgery in Dec. 23, unless you count the indoor tri in April (10 min swim, 20 min ex. bike, 15 min treadmill run).
I'll do a brick workout tomorrow: my plan is 6-8 miles on the bike, then 2 miles running.
The other day I ended up riding 17.6 miles and it felt fine. The hardest part is crossing the busy highway, or riding along it for a short distance, and feeling trucks bearing down on me going 50 mph. Or passing very close to me when they had room to move around.
I can't imagine a 100 mile ride! That's amazing. I know someone in my town who did 112 for her Ironman race in Houston a few years ago, but I don't plan on any distance like that — at least not any time soon.

yea I’ve lost 138 in just over a year so I’m curious to see how my family react lol

Traffic is one of the hardest things to adjust to. In my 40's I pretty much just rode and prayed. Ten years later, there are some roads I would ride before that I hesitate to ride now.
I've had too many friends injured by cars. These were mostly in town with cars running/rolling through stops, but a few were out on old country roads where people drive too fast around blind turns. None of them have been highways, but the highways where I live are only 4 lanes, not like in big cities.
Best of luck on you tri! If you can ride 17.5 and feel good you've got no worries. Just be prepared for the possibility for run to start off a little rough if you ride too hard. After the first half mile you'll settle into your comfort zone.

@takinitalloff I'm going to check out this group.…thank you! Tomorrow is weigh in day...walking to the Community Centre I haven't checked in 2.5 weeks and feel terrible! Last I did, I was 139. But I found a photo of myself at 134 pounds this year and regret not just "calling it a day" back then. I was in a size 2 pant ( mind you I am well aware of vanity sizing and this brand is notorious for that. So I take it with a grain of salt and called myself a size 4). 🙃 Honestly my goal is to find my way back to 134 pounds for the end of November....probably sooner...and reassess in 2026. I am trying to transfer my pic in here so fingers crossed it works. If not I may randomly pop up on this thread sometime this week! Lol I have a large amount of wriggle room....up to 155 pounds max....even 145 minimum…and preparing mentally to put in the work.
