    Looks good mate.

    It's funny that we've got such a similar squat style. I wonder if we've got the same limb/torso ratio's even though I'm a hobbit and you're a corn-fed giant (or whatever they're feeding you in Wisconsin)?
    Giant? lol. You should see some of the younger high school athletes out here nowadays, both men and women. They tower over me. Crazy

    IDK, perhaps this is a case where lengths of body parts are not as relevant, but strengths and weakness in muscle groups that affect technique are?
    I love watching you lift. Seriously just makes me happy
    Why thanks! I think I love lifting as much as you love watching me lift! :#

    Aww thanks Matt! I'm having a minor freak out meltdown over my next meet. I think it's hitting home just how big it is and how many people will be watching, not necessarily in person but on the live stream.
    You'll do great @Willbenchforcupcakes . I know its a big meet and all, but once back on that platform all that training sets in and the live stream wont be a factor. MY second meet was streamed, I just made sure not to grab my junk too much or when I did -- off camera. Us guys are always adjusting. :D

    Lol! Yeah, guys and their junk. I have images seared into my brain from commonwealth, especially the Australian singlets. Whoever thought their bright yellow was the color to put on the bottom of a tight piece of Lycra with not much underneath didn't think things through. Nothing at all left to the imagination in person - worse than any other singlet I've seen!

    I've got rock solid confident in the numbers for my first two attempts. I own those numbers, and I should have a very good third. It's just makin sure I channel the nerves the exact way I did at commonwealth.

    Do you do the platform thing? For me, its like I throw a mental switch -- everything around me pushes to the side, vision narrows, and I can't help but smile as I get under the bar.

    For me it happens while waiting for weigh ins. Even though I'm talking here and there with friends, my mind is focused on lifting. And usually I have a jolt of nerves as soon as I set foot on the platform, but it's easily channeled into positive forms.

    Alright. Went off the radar for a while. I injured both RC's removing trees and the left one still isn't normal yet. So I quit lifting. I resumed distance running. And my BW went from 190 to 150lb.

    This is my last dead vid before I stopped. 415 @ 185

    This is my current dead (first day lifting) 315x3 @ 150. Tried 365, but I got stuck at my knees. 225x10 after.

    Nice! @ROBOTFOOD

    @nakedraygun - if I hit this on the platform, it's a platform pr.

    Nice pulls. I know the injury grind all too well.

    I know its not as technically as pretty as you'd like it to be @Willbenchforcupcakes , but looks like three whites to me!

    Nice pulls too @McCloud3 . Looks like you're working harder on better hip activation too.

    From this weekend...

    Had a good deadlift session on Saturday, the hammy holding up pretty well. 410x7 - hit my rep goal and had another 1 or 2 in the tank, but decided not to push it too much as the hammy is a little tender still.

    Then some moderate squats (up to 80% of TM) on Sunday after seeing the Melvins and Napalm Death and some old friends from the night before. 295x10.

    And then on Sunday, I gave the bench press (245x6) a shot to keep that groove and to test out how the injury is.

    Missed my rep goal of 2, but that's because I thought my second workset (225x8) was my top set. My bench was so sweet, the groove so well greased, and my strength and confidence was at all times high before the injury I hope that I can get it back in a short, but reasonable amount of time.

    Nice pulls too @McCloud3 . Looks like you're working harder on better hip activation too.

    Thanks! Really looking forward to after this race when I can start pushing harder in the weight room again without having to worry too much about running. Debating switching back to a flat bench or sticking with the incline too. After posting the 225x20 squat couple weeks back, none of my squat videos seem worthy LOL.

    I'd recommended going back to flat bench to see if there are any improvements and squatting 315 lbs 25 times. lol

    @nakedraygun Nice lifts!
    Tried benching today with 3mo off. Warm ups felt fine. 135x1 felt okayish. 155x1 hurt so I put slingshot on. 155x3 was good, 185x1 went good. I'll prob stick with slingshot benching for a while. Then I did some deads. Top set: 275x10 tng.

    Nice job @ROBOTFOOD

    @nakedraygun, went back to flat bench just for the morning to go for a 1RM in the cage. Got 185x5, 205x5, 225x2 & 235x1, but got stuck with 245. About where I was 10-15lbs heavier in BW so I guess good that I kept the strength through the cut for the most part. Here's the bench and my 20 rep squat of 185 from this morning.

    Arg. Three months off. You'll get it back. ]

    Question about your deadlift set-up @ROBOTFOOD ... is it just the angle or do you deadlift with your knees and toes straight out and inside the knurling of the bar? Nice home garage gym btw.

    @McCloud33 Thx! Nice lifting!

    @nakedraygun Ya and I got my bw up to 200lb for the 265 bench PR. I wasn't running back then though.
    For the dead setup: I like a narrow stance. Inside the knurling, sometimes my grip too (im small), knees and toes are slightly pointed out.

    Interesting how different things work for different people. A friend of mine is so narrow, her heels touch. It's almost like her fee are in a ballet position.

    Nice job.

    That's what I thought and I was suspecting that height (correct me if I a wrong) might have been a factor in your set-up. Thanks for answering my question!

    @juliewatkin Whoa that's crazy close! And thx!

    @nakedraygun I used to pull a lot wider. But it never felt right. And I never got higher than 385x1. I feel more explosive in my current position. And I try to keep my arms straight down tight to my body. It puts me in a more vertical pulling position. Sumo is pretty vertical too, little rom with my ape arms lol.

    These aren't PRs but we have a meet in 2 1/2 weeks so this is the heaviest I've squatted this cycle. Top sets were 200 for 2 sets of 3 and 215 for 2 sets of 2. My typical squat opener is 100kg (220lbs) so this is feeling pretty solid.

    This is the second set of 200https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnFbh4GB-rw&feature=youtu.be

    This is the first set of 215 (I think) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u8usomB_U0

    Now I have to focus on cutting a few lbs to make weight :neutral: Last Saturday I was at 127 but today I'm sitting at 131 after pizza yesterday at a meet I was volunteering at. I'm retaining all the water at the moment.

    @nakedraygun - it's a solid weight these days for sure. Gotta love the ammonia jitters though. There's a reason why I almost never use the stuff!

    @ROBOTFOOD - nice!

    @McCloud33 - you definitely made those squats look easy! Love the bench to.

    @juliewatkin - good luck at your meet! One day I'm sure that we will be at the same meet.

    Thx @nakedraygun @Willbenchforcupcakes @ROBOTFOOD the squats felt easy too. Looking forward to trying to reach 275x20 or more in the next 6-8 weeks. It'd be awesome if I could get to 300x20!!!

    Glad the bench looked good as well. I've been practicing a wider grip and that's seemed to help with elbow flare some. Still wish I was closer to 250 though. 275 at a BW of 185 or lower is the goal at the absolute top of my wish list.

    Good luck at your meet @juliewatkin ! I'm sure you'll kill it, and I feel your pain with holding water :neutral: I've had birthday parties this week :tongue:
