Thank you all for the welcome!
Joyce, I live north of Terre Haute.

Lenora, stay on your daughter in law about the mammogram. I have lost too many loved ones to that disease.
lhannon, love the pics! My husband and I try to get out to to Arizona or Las Vegas at least once a year. We are not gamblers, just love the country and love getting out in nature. You make me jealous. We have mostly sugar maple/oak/beech forests here in the state parks. Where I live in Indiana is where the flatland from the last glacier ended. So miles and miles of open country. But very good garden soil!

This year my weight loss has a specific goal. I am taking a group of students to visit Costa Rica in July. We will be staying at a camp on the edge of a National park. The plan calls for lots of hiking. I don't want to be the "old lady' who can't keep up with her students. So my exercise has a purpose, to get stronger and build some endurance.
We have been planning this trip now for over a year, and it is huge in my mind. So, I am extra motivated to get these pounds off, not just to look great in a swimsuit (gave that up some time ago).

Also more about me: I am an avid gardener, and also a beekeeper. We have kept bees for 12 years now, and it is the worst year ever for bees. I follow the changes in the pesticides laws pretty closely, I believe that pesticides are to blame for my loss of bees. This is on my mind today because we are ordering more bee packages to replace what we have lost. This is an expensive hobby, but something the DH and I can do together.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better! Have a great day!

Carol - I think Pip means MFP - she's been here since March 2012. I'm headed for my one-year anniversary myself...

lcottom - glad you like the pics... It was in the 50s that day (thus the jacket my husband was wearing). Yesterday it was 92 degrees. I'm ready though, I missed the heat.

    Later,

Mary from MN: I haven't seen any posts fro m Terri in a while, either. I think she was going on a trip. I hope someone else knows more. :flowerforyou:

Joyce: I just read something on facebook about MS being caused by tick bites. DS says he was bitten as a teen. Were you ever bitten by a tick? I wonder whether this "discovery" is really true in a cause and effect way, and whether it can lead to effective treatment or cure. I sent DH's MS doctor the question under DH's name. We'll see whether his doctor answers. :star:

Janet OKC: Congratulations to your DGD! Keep us in the loop. I hope she continues to shine. :flowerforyou:

Heather: Hugs to you and your DH.

Barbie & KJLaMore: We had a tire that kept getting low and needing air added. It turned out that the valve stem was faulty. They replaced the valve stem and we never had trouble again. We have since traded that car for a different one. There are so many small things that can go wrong with cars that affect safety. I'm happy that the dealership stepped up and Barbie and Jake switched to a car without obvious troubles.

Alison: I like treadmill, recumbent bike and yoga. All three do nice things for my strength without damaging my wonky knee. Treadmill is my least favorite of the three because I have to avoid pounding my knee & am often tempted to go too fast. That is when I pound. I have to keep the treadmill set at a brisk walk :ohwell:

Margaret: I'm happy that you're getting AC. I don't know a thing about ductless AC. How does it work? Ours feeds into the heat ducts so we get hot or cold air delivered through the same system. :flowerforyou:

Donna in WV: Thanks for checking in.

Janetr OKC: Thanks for sharing Terri_Mom's reply. It is good to know things are going well for her. :flowerforyou:

Pip: HAPPY MPF ANNIVERSARY! :flowerforyou:

DS and DDIL are on the road to their new posting on the east coast. I miss them already! DD is having a tough time just now with her DH. I hope that he will get effective help. DH and I are resting up after spending several days with DS & DDIL as they finished up work on his boat. Now it will be for sale or we will get it to him at his new post so that he can finally get some pleasure from it.

o:)<3B) - 2nd time that computer has erased my stuff. My Internet keeps 'stopping' working; but, I also did not disable my touchpad before I started typing - that was the reason for the 2nd cyber hell trip; but, not the first one. I'm having issues with the keyboard on the laptop being incredibly slow, too. Having to hit the keys several times, or hunt and peck with 2 fingers when I am use to typing with all 10 of my fingers.

Thanks for all who wished me a 'belated' birthday (from yesterday). I had a great day. DOS and DDnL#1 were planning on cooking supper for me yesterday; but, she had 'bad day' at work (nothing unusual). I keep getting pop-ups, driving me crazy; so I am going to stop here.

Good day ladies. They are still talking 6-8 inches of snow today. I am working 7-3:30 today so hope it will waite until I get home. My sister called last evening and my mom is back in the hospital. She has pneumonia in one lung and O2 stats were in the 70's. She has signed a DNR order and does not want to be transfered to bigger hospital. So see what happens today as they are getting 11 inches of snow and high winds so not sure I could get there if I tried.

I had a NSV last evening. Some friends called at the last minute last evening and invited us to go out for supper with them. I was very careful and ate very well calorie wise. We had a lot of fun and laughing. Needed that.

Becca--Something to think about. I tend to bottle of feelings until I blow up. Have to work on that.

Pip--Good news about the free hospital visit. Our hospital used to just take what insurance paid with no co-pay, but since they went national no more. Miss those days.

Carol NC--Glad to hear the dating is going well.

Meg--The pink bunny bread sounds interesting, post a picture as would like to see that.

Lenora--Happy B-lated birthday. Sounds like you were pampered and that is nice.

Barbie--Glad you got the car deal worked out and something you can depend on.

Welcome to all the new ladies. You have found a great place for support and fellowship.

Janetr--Congrates to DGD for the award and the trip. Thanks for the update from Terri.

Well has not started snowing yet, but getting dark. I hope it waites until I get home. Take care ladies.

Lisa- Daisy is a beautiful dog! I love her coloring. It looks like you, Daisy and DH had a very nice hike.

Karen NY- congratulations on your 2 pound loss! As well as being able to break the plateau!

Janetr - thanks for conveying the message from Terri! It sounds like she is a very busy lady!

Pip- Congratulations! I am so glad you are still here giving us inspiration and motivation!

Donna- i'm glad to hear that you are still kicking!

Heather - have a fun time in London! I'm sorry to hear about your nightmare. I hope everything is resolved with your DH soon.

I just got back from a 3 mile walk. I got zero hours sleep last night. This insomnia is really starting to wear on me. I was able to stay in bed until 10 o'clock so I was able to get somewhat of a nap in from eight until then. I am going to push myself to do my workouts now.

    Have a great day everyone!

Just finished walking on the treadmill. Still alternating days between strength training and cardio. Yesterday I went and bought heavier weights before my workout. I could not up the weight on every thing but did up it on several. Jack thinks its great. It pleases me that he is so pleased :).

Thank you all for the kind words about my granddaughter. I told her I'd take her shopping before she goes to get a nice "professional" outfit for when she wins top price. Positive thinking!! Also will give her some spending money to have while in Boston.

Still here and kicking. I got put back on steroids again because my back pain is worse since I went off of them. Other than that, I don’t really have any news other than being just totally exhausted all the time.

It’s cloudy and chilly here today with snow in the forecast. I’m not sure if I told you, but my new (handmade) kitchen table and chairs came, but the table had a dent in it, so they have to make me another one, which will take til late June. Oh well. It is gorgeous and if you don’t look for it, you really can’t see the dent, so it’s fine for now.

Lenora: happy, happy birthday to you!

Kim: come for a visit in July! We have fireflies so thick you have to swat them out of the way!

Mary: Shep is a handsome guy! Is he a German Shepard or a Belgian Melenois? I can’t tell them apart.

Michele: if you go to walgreens, don’t forget to ask to put your pets on their discount savings plan. It does save a ton!

    CSSJ09: great nsv!

Barbie: good for you to stick up for what you wanted! Now I know you’ll be safer too!

Lora: welcome to the group. Come back often

Sylvia: good for you to get a cleaning crew. I couldn’t live without my housecleaner!

    Katla: all fingers duly crossed!

    Janet: congrats to DGD!

Lisa: good for you to take care of that tooth problem!

    Pip: congrats!

Vicki: you are getting way more snow that we are supposed to; I think we are getting 1-2”. Stay safe!

Well that's all the news from here. Take care, Meg from Omaha

Meg- Shep is a German Shepherd. I hope that your back pain gets better. I am suffering from insomnia so I know how you feel as far as not having any energy. Too bad about your table. You'll have to show us a picture.

Mary in Minn, thanks for the compliments on Daisy... she's in full winter coat right now, but the current warm weather will change that quickly. Shep looks beautiful! My first dog as a child was a German shepherd, so I definitely have a soft spot for them.

Larisa, Vicki, and Meg - Thanks for the birthday wishes. Yes, quite pampered; but DH is always (most of the time) a real sweetie pie.

Annr - You'll get a kick out of this story maybe - Night before last, our 2 youngest DGDs came over for a visit. Oldest of the two has a 'boyfriend'; was talking about one of her friends being 'so boy crazy'; and, DH said that she was the kind of girl that boys that are 'players' like a lot. Then older DGD said, 'bet you were a player'. He laughed and said, 'you can't please 2 or more women at a time and it is dangerous to think you can; that's why I've been married to your Nana for nearly 44 years, never had to be a 'player'. THEN, he told them that right after we were married, he was mowing the lawn, and I came out of the screened-in back porch and held up my shirt; and, the mower went dead. They laughed. Of course, DYGD went home and repeated the story to DOS and DDnL#1. DOS said something about it (not mad or anything, just kidding me); but, DDnL#1, I don't think she thought it was particularly funny; but, she is someone that none of her daughters have ever seen 'naked'.

Both of my DSs have seen me naked. DYS would take a 10-penny nail and unlock our door to come in and use 'our' bathroom, when the hallway had one. Never could break him of this habit; but, then started putting a sign on the door when I had 'migraine' telling them I had one; and, "unless the house was 'on fire' or one of them or a friend was bleeding, they had better NOT come in that door." I'd kill them 'if' they did. When they were much younger, they'd pee behind the brick grill; they were afraid that 'if' they came inside, they'd have to take a nap. They still had to come in and take an afternoon nap (so did I; until I started back to work when my DYS started school. How I missed those 'naps'. Now I can have them again. Just need to straighten up the house; but, by then, "The Five" will be on and I try not to miss it. That's the only national news program we watch; then local news, 7-8:00pm - read; then 8-11:00pm (and sometimes later) we watch our 'shows'. I think DH has gotten to the age, that he will say anything to just about anybody (with no shame to it). Our DYS and DDnL#2 will 'talk' about everything and anything to us.

I'm new here to your group. I'm hoping to get some help to get back on track. I have about 60-80 lbs to lose. I was doing so great until I learned that my only in-state daughter and family were moving making all of my children live out of state now. I had lost 20 lbs, and was doing fantastic. When I received this news, I started back into refined sugar, eating anything and everything including pizzas and sodas. I'm 61 yrs old, work full-time and have got the exercise thing down. I exercise - swim 3 days a week and walk the other 3 days a week. I would appreciate so much have someone hold me accountable, having some support, some motivation. I saw this group and thought I'd stop by and say hello and H-E-L-P..... Thanks.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Afternoon, Ladies,

CJ, great NSV to have someone tell you it looks like you’ve been working out. weight-machine-smiley-emoticon.gif As usual, I agree totally on your sentiments about Peace on Earth.

Barbie, sorry for the car problems but good for you on getting a solution you are happy with. **Happy Dance for you**

Lora, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. If you come often you will be among one of our friends in no time. It sounds like you are off to a great start so just keep up the good work.

Sylvia, I did notice that Mary’s little puppy was gone but I sure wasn’t gonna be the one to tell her. nervy-guy.gif Great news that you found a cleaning team for DS’s apartment. It is great about your 3 spray guns at once. That will be so nice. And congrats on the co-op. What’s the latest word on the boy that colors?

Traci, so what is that weight loss plan? Is it a diet, shakes, shots, or what. I do hope it works for you.

Joyce, maybe you should get Charlie a tube of tomato paste and he can add it to everything? Go figure.

Janetr, wasn’t Terri going on some type of trip and said she would be out of touch for a week or so? Or did I make that up in my mind? I do hope she’s okay. Woo Hoo for your DGD. Gosh I’d be proud too. Good for her!!!!

Rosi, so glad you got the cat down with no problems. I hope you all enjoy your exchange student while he is with you. Don’t be such a stranger around here. ((((Hugs))))

Lisa, glad you got the tooth fixed with the least amount of time and pain. Great pics!!! I miss that barren landscape, strangely enough.

Karen, doing Happy Dance for you on breaking your plateau. I have finally moved the scale too, after many months, but in the wrong direction. So happy for you.

Margaret, congrats on the new A/C. I know you will enjoy it this summer!!!

Donna, glad you are still around and I hope you are taking care of yourself while you tend to others.

Janetr, thanks for passing on the message from Terri. I hope she will rejoin us at some point.

Pip, congrats on being a MFP Old-timer.

Katla, I hope your DH and DDIL have a safe trip. I know you will miss them but we all wish them well. ((((Hugs)))) for the lonely mommy.

Betty, rolling.gif I love the note to Mindy about decluttering.

Rosi, good luck at the dentist. You are right not to put it off. They just don’t get better on their own but can get worse. dentist-smiley-emoticon.gif

Mary, so sorry to hear you aren’t sleeping. I hate it when that happens. I’ll send some sleepy thoughts to you about bedtime and hope you can rest tonight. sleeping.gif

welcome.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

It’s not been a good month for weight loss. watching-my-weight-smiley-emoticon.gifI seem to do great for a few days and then fall off the back of the wagon again. Yesterday I went to the Moose to help set up for a bake sale. They had some yummy looking pastries which are my weakness, but I didn’t buy anything. I was proud of myself.

Sending good thoughts for all of you and wishing you each a healthy and happy day. happy-spring-smiley-emoticon.gif

Welcome Bonjomac! My son's family is my life so I can see how you must feel with everyone out of state.

Katla ~ Good wishes and prayers for your DS & DDiL moving across country.

Barbie ~ So glad you did well at the car dealers.

DJ ~ Glad you didn't let the pastries send you astray.

I have had a great day today. Yesterday my knees were so bad that I could hardly walk. Today, they were fine and I have had the energy to get a lot done around the house. Am baking an oven stuffer hen and have made Paula Dean's Southern cornbread dressing to go with it. Will have to watch the portions on the dressing, but, it is so good.
