Heather- thanks for sharing your family time with us! Bea is absolutely beautiful!

Heather: I've been the "on-duty" grandparent for two grandchildren, not three. I grabbed a nap every chance I got! Perhaps you and DH could divvy up a little shift work, one naps or reads quietly for a while, then the other gets to rest. (((HUGS))) I love the photos of the DH pile and baby. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Good news for Kirby! You are strong and resilient people and I admire you both.
I got my hair cut this morning and it seems fine so far. The proof will be revealed after I wash my hair next time. DS and DDiL are travelling across the country in moving trucks with all sorts of weather worries, and DD has worries about her DH. I'm keeping all of them in my prayers.

Woke up feeling awful. Sinus cold, pressure, sore throat, so husband went without me to exercise. Have no appetite so just broth today. Had a good breakfast though. Hate feeling like this but going to be vigilant about taking medicine today. Everyone have a great Thursday.

I know yesterday I said I don't like exercise I love to eat. I want to re-state that and say I love what exercise does for me, it allows me to eat!

You are in inspiration. You are just about to get the kettlebell swing challenge licked. Way to go girl. I upped my weights Tuesday by just a little bit but found I couldn't do it on all of them so dropped those exercises back. That's ok. I did however up my reps from 3X10 to 3X12 last week. I can for sure tell the difference in clothes. Wearing a pair of jeans today that I wore once and didn't put back on cuz they weren't that comfortable.

Kirby has his followup app. today, and he gets to have his bandage removed. he still ran today, 5k at 9.10min mi, he is coming back and coming back strong!
This is absolutely THE best news today. I'm thrilled for both of you. You two are the bomb and the perfect example of being fit and staying focused and determined. Wow!!

Heather, the pics are priceless. The DH pile is what it's all about with young grands and what could be sweeter than a tiny, precious baby sleeping in grandma's arms. Thanks. My 6 grands range in age from 22 to 8 and guess what, they don't fit in my arms. All but the 8 year old are taller than me. But I grab them and hug them up and kiss their cheeks anyway.

No fair, it hasn't been that long since that last spell you had that lasted way too long. Sorry, sweetie. Hope this one goes on its way quickly. (((Hugs)))

You are doing an amazing job! Congratulations on upping your weights. It will definitely transform your body. Great NSV with your pants fitting well!
Becca- I hope you feel better! It is definitely hard to function if you have sinus issues. Take it easy and rest. (((hugs)))

Heather ... While we don't know what all is going on in your DHs family drama, I would think that the "DH Pile" and all the family joy it represents would be a good thing to focus on!0

Dr Katie Bug: Update on Honda Recall- It's a hassle just as I thought but, to be fair anytime we have car issues its no fun. The parts to perform the repairs are not expected to be available for 4-6months!
Any way, I called Honda America and they issued me a case # and told me they cover $35 a day in car rental car fees, but to call my local dealership to coordinate this. So I called the local Dealer and was told I need an appointment with them and then they will shuttle me to car rental place(Hertz or Enterprise) to pick something up.
Here is the catch , the car will be a sudan that can seat 5 people (like my CRV). I really need something that is easy to get in and out of and not to low to the ground for my back. So the dealership sent me back to Honda America for a special approval of a standard SUV....still waiting for someone to call me back. Not very hopeful though. If you live near a Honda Dealer that has their own rental cars you may be able to rent a CRV. I am going to look into that next.

I remember a wreck I was in, not my fault, and his insurance provided rental car was a small hatchback and had been smoked in. The car he wrecked was not and I wanted my comfort and saw no reason why I shouldn't be able to have the same kind of car he took out of commission. So when his insurance agent called me I told him what they put me in and he immediately approved a nice Sable which was the size I was driving. I think what he was trying to do was to butter me up so I wouldn't claim emotional damage.
My sister has surgery in about 1/2 for her malignant melanoma. I did not know that her surgeon had ordered an MRI and it showed 'hot spots'. That is how private my sis and BIL are about her illnesses. So needless to say, I am a wreck today.

Mary, I agree with you....I set my basic calories at 1200 but after a day of two or more hours of dog walking, two hour line dance class, and either strength training or riding the recumbent bike, I find that I eat a whole lot more....I am vigilant about portion control and choosing nutrition dense foods.....alcohol and recreational sugar are not a problem for me because I am an abstainer.
Pip, what great news for Kirby....you two just don't give up working at your recovery from injury
Heather, what adorable pictures of your adorable family
Janetr, you are doing a great job with your weights....I try to lift the heaviest weight I can for 5 reps....I have been able to increase weights on some lifts but not on others.

Thank you for hemp hearts & protein ideas. I'm very focused on the MFP nutrition info since I'm working on a new approach to food that will make it easy for me to maintain my weight loss once I get to my goal.0

Joyce, keeping a good thought for your sis, and for you...
Heather, those grandbabies are putting me even further in withdrawals... Our daughter's pushing me to come up, and the only reason I haven't is the expense of getting there. Argh!
Ribboncutting done, quilt that I'm working on is now to the boring point - straight-line quilting is all that's left to do. Trading off with one of my writer's group members. I'm making a quilt for her sister's baby shower if she will edit my next two books. 'Course, now I have to FINISH my next two books.
Later, my dears,

On a good note, I actually had 3 sales on eBay today. Can hardly believe it.

Michele in NC – I know, first hand, what not being able to drive feels like. It is the ‘pits’ when you have to depend on someone else to either drive you to do things or they have to do those things for you. My DH learned quickly that groceries were a lot higher than the $$ he had always been giving me along with a list; and, he’d give me more … and it might have been enough. Now, that I am back to driving, it is almost like he thinks it has magically made grocery prices ‘go down’. NAHDA! And, also, my DH stayed ‘stressed’ the entire duration of 4 driving restrictions in 3 years’ time. Thankfully, they have my ‘seizure meds’ tweaked just right and I have not had a seizure since August, 2013.
Yvonne – You’re right you did not say anything about race; but, that was for others who might have ‘thought’ that when reading it. When I became disabled from my Federal Government job; my income dropped by 75% - that was a huge drop; and, with 2 sons at home, it was difficult to figure out where we could cut other expenses. I think we did it on a ‘wing and a prayer’. I also agree with your last statement; government and other employers giving someone a new position and a raise; when they are not qualified only makes matters worse; but, we’ve become so ‘political correct’ in our ways that most are afraid if they don’t do it, they’ll get sued or will be ‘out of a job’ if they complained to someone. I think that this ‘politically correct’ bull is another way that our government brushes problems under the rug. I’ve gotten tired of all the ‘political bull$#*T and name calling. Again, just another way of trying to make others look bad. So I don’t discuss politics (or politicians) … it only upset me.
My DOS’s dog’s name is “Luna”.
I take a lot of medication and most of it have side effects of ‘weight gain’. I was basically ‘ordered’ into this weight loss program I am on; and since mid-May I’ve lost 40lbs; put 6 back on, and then lost 4.5 of it; so I have lost 35lbs all total (or about that). My BMI is now 28; so one or two more points I will be wiyhin ‘normal’ range. I made my GYN tell me that he was proud of me; because he didn’t say anything about my weight loss; but, would have been ‘on me’ if I gained … I was just about to ‘top’ 200lbs. I’d cry about it, too. I did not want to look like my Mother (size-wise). My Mother probably weighed 300lbs (if I had to guess) and she was short (5’4”).
I feel so much better since I have dropped the weight and I am getting closer to my goal weight. I can certainly get around much better and I am walking 40 minutes a day. DH needs to mow my path because it is getting hard to walk there. As soon as my BMI drops down to ‘normal’ range, we will talk about what my ‘goal weight’ is going to be. Between 140 – 150lbs (probably). I hope that my belly will get flat(ter). I’ve lost my ‘butt’ in the process and I need to work on my neck. Maybe something to tighten is. LOL! Don’t think I’d ever do plastic surgery since that, too, would be ‘elective’ surgery. It’s not that bad really. I wish my boobs were a little smaller. I never knew that you gained weight there, too. I’m just surprised that it has not come off. I’ve gone up a cup size on my bra since my original weight before putting it on. I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight both times I gave birth to my sons. So I know if I stick with this (life-style change and continue posting and tracking on MFP) it will become 2nd nature. If I could flatten my stomach, I might have the nerve to get back into a 2-piece bathing suit (but not a bikini). I like the styles that were from the 50’s that seem to be coming back in style. Where the bottoms come up to your belly button.
Barbiecat – Damn BOZO!
Drkatiebug – Would that be true if you took it to another Honda dealership in your area – if you have one? On my 2011 Honda I took it in for an oil change; and they replaced the driver’s side seat belt because it was not ‘retracting’ like it should (free of charge).
Katla – I love my ‘new’ Honda (2015); but, if they offered me a better car or whatever and my payments or number of months still left on it did not change … I’d probably jump on getting a ‘new’ one. But, I am sure there is ‘some catch to it’ somehow.
lcottomsvce – I drink wine occasionally; and only 4 oz. when I do. I’m not a big drinker of anything like beer, wine, or hard liquor. I do enjoy a cold beer when it is ‘hot’ outside; but, I’m satisfied with just about ½ a can … so it will be ‘cold’ the whole time. I don’t like my wine room temperature; so the wine bottle is in the refrigerator – unopened. I like an occasional Bloody Mary or Margarita or Pomegranate Martini … but then I don’t like the ‘calories’. They come few and far between. I 'love' the Bloody Mary's that we get when we go to see DYS and family @ Rue 64 in Natchez, MS
Pip – Great news about Kirby!

Hi, all!
I need a safe place to vent for just a minute. Pass on if you don't want to read...
It's this same job that gives me almost non-stop problems! The Stewardship chair is a power hungry, attention seeking witch and has been out to get me since I started work here. To be fair, she hates all of the staff and undermines them in any way possible. She sent a full page of complaints to my supervisor today. It would be one thing if she had talked to me and I had not responded, but it always makes me angry when I'm not allowed to hear the charges first. It is truly all crap! She acts like I'm trying to hide information from her but it's 1) I don't have it to share or 2) she's never asked for it. I can deal with all of that but now I've been informed that I need to adjust my hours so that I can be here during "normal office hours." I work a freakin 15 hours a week here!! Which office hours do they expect me to keep? I'm sure as tootin not driving over here five days a week for three hours. NONE of the part-timers work five days per week. All of us have different schedules and days that we work. In fact, they were originally delighted that I was working in the afternoons because the other peon staff person works mornings! I just told my supervisor that I wasn't sure how that was going to play out. This is my second job -- pretty much anyone they get who wants to work just 15 hours per week is going to use it as a second job. I can't work 45+ hours per week and be out of here at 4:30 p.m. every day. The folks at my other job have their own expectations of when I am supposed to be in the office and, frankly, that job pays more and is twice the hours, not to mention being a pleasant place to work 95% of the time. I don't know what is going to come of that. No one is going to be happy with whatever the hours are because they all want someone on call 24/7. On top of it all, I got so upset when I got a text two hours before time to be here that I was to come see my supervisor as soon as I got to the office, I ate 17 mini Twix bars! And that makes me mad at myself. I truly just want to crawl under my desk and cry.
I think I'm through now...

Finally got the ok from my doctor to start going to the gym again as long as I get my calorie intake up especially protein calories. For those of you who are new I am a non stress eater to the point of forgetting to eat. Due some recent events in my life I dropped alot of weight in a short period of time. I was in the maintenance stage so it became unhealthy. So excited to go back. I know some of you probably want to smack me for that statement but this is a huge stress reliever for me and I feel like I am making a good come back.
So many posts to catch up on. Project for later tonight.

Carol in NC - I can understand not wanting to work 5 days a week for 3 hours a day; doesn't seem like it would be very productive. Most jobs; where there are several people working a set of small hours and someone has to come in and jump to the ground running isn't going to happen. I'd rather work 2 7-hour days and get my stuff done, in the manner that I want it done; and, maybe not leave something 1/2 done and you never see the end of it. I don't know what type of work you do; but, I'd be checking into maybe going to school so you could do 'medical coding'/billing that you could do from home at a time you set aside and be paid for by the job. This job you have would drive me nuts. Why do they need someone there 24/7? What is it? A Suicide Hotline or something? Just kidding; but, I am sure there are hours that 'nobody' wants to have to work, no matter what type of job it is. It doesn't sound like it pays enough for you to make the trip there and back to net you any decent money. Your main job sounds like they are trying to keep workers under a set number of hours to get around having to pay benefits for those not working long enough. You said it paid better; but, apparently you like it better than the 'Job from Hell'. My DDnL#1 DISPISES her job; and, I am not surprised that she has not be 'fired' from it for 'insubordination'. One day, her boss(es) are going to get tired of her mouthing off to them; and, saying things like she makes more sales from her desk than the 'son' does. She will never understand that her boss (the 'father') does not have to put up with her mouth; and 'if' he does not want to make his son work harder, it won't matter. One day he 'is' going to leave it to his son; and, she won't be able to tolerate her job. She keeps saying she is going to find another one; but, I have not seen her looking very hard. Mainly, because she'd have to start over at a less amount of salary she makes now (with no benefits). I just glad that I always enjoyed working at the things I did and worked with some really good people. I would never under-cut someone with authority over my job; but, I have never had someone 'over' me make waves either. I feel for you and I will keep you in my prayers. I don't blame you for 'venting' ... and I would be 'fussing' at myself for the Twix Stix Chomping. I guess I am lucky that sweets are not high on my list of comfort food (cheese is, unfortunately). I bought the cracker-sized packages of a block of cheese; and 3 will make a nice grilled cheese sandwich; so I get my 'cheese' fix for under 100 calories. Gee, the bread (and I only use 1 piece) has almost the same amount of caloric; so I try to eat bagel chips with them. But, then I have to watch how many of those I eat. Doesn't seem to matter what you eat, everybody has a weakness for something that is not particularly good for them.

Went to a meeting on refugees yesterday. I cried numerous times. The stories of religious persecution in countries of the former Soviet Union (continues today) and the Middle East were heart-breaking. I learned that the reason so many kids are coming here by themselves from Latin America is to escape murder rates far higher than those in war torn countries such as Afghanistan. Worst of all were the testimony of those who escaped after being turned into the crazies by neighbors. Thank heavens others were willing to hide them. I kept thinking about the babies I saw sleeping on the streets of coastal Turkey this past fall, almost in swimming distance of the Greek islands. Food was served. Somehow, it did not seem right to eat.
On a far happier note
Karen
I have read about a King Midas exhibit in Philadelphia at the Penn Museum. Even though I have worked in Turkey, and been there several times, I never made it to Gordion, the Midas family capital and site of Gordias's tomb (Midas's father) that Penn unearthed - intact. I want to go to see this exhibit as evidently the objects have come from all over Turkey and have never traveled to the US before. Actually, it has been many years since I traveled to the Penn Museum. It is probably the best archeological museum in this country. The Egyptian, Israeli, Levant and African collections are packed with treasures unearthed by Penn and divided between the host country and Penn. It is well worth a trip to Philadelphia just to see this museum. The Penn Egyptian collection is far better displayed and preserved than that in the Cairo Museum. I spent a few days in the Cairo Museum and at the same time, the walls and ceilings were being painted- no tarps covering the collection and of course, white paint dripped on some of these national treasures. Grrrrrr.
One of these days I want to visit the new Barnes Museum and the completely renovated Rodin Museum. Evidently, Philadelphia has become quite the restaurant town. It sounds like your trip is already packed. Have a wonderful time. Tell us all about your trip and where we should go.0 -

The new dishwasher was installed today and it looks great....I was tempted to fix a meal and use a ton of dishes so we could run the dishwasher tonight and see how it works---but once again, sanity returned, and we'll wait until the time is right to run it.
the first half of line dance class today was "dance hour" where we danced one dance after another without instruction...the second half was teaching followed by dancing...we did nineteen dances in the two hour class
Anne, I'm so happy to hear that you can go back to the gym....I know you can stick to an eating plan that is healthy for you.
