Thank you... what you said makes perfect sense. Will definitely need to read that again when I'm feeling down on myself. I'm so all or nothing (mixed with food addictions VERY BAD) so I NEEDED to read this1

Choices. If you've helped one person today you've helped me. Thanks for reminding me.3

Such a wonderful post! I feel so lucky that I found out about MFP, because it is not about counting and numbers but it's about changing the way of thinking and the way of living!3

Yes. The "all or nothing" thinking. When you think this way it's so hard to undo the years of it. And I am no expert on this at all. But over the years, esp. the last three, I've become more aware of what I'm doing when I'm doing it and it's harder to hide myself, or sabotage myself, or mire up in my own I'm-such-a-loser funk when I'm actually paying attention. I'm bipolar and when I start to sink, I'll tell myself to think clearly--this will pass on its own if you'll get up and do something, anything. Just get moving and distract yourself. This usually works. It's another way of caring for myself. But it would be so easy to slip back into the "I ate a donut so I should just eat three more donuts and then a large fry and okay, also, some fried rice and an egg roll make that two egg rolls I can't control myself I suck I must have an eating disorder I'm going to make cookies now" mentality.4 -

I loved reading this as I've been struggling with similar issues.1 -
One of the very best posts I have read! It has taken me many years to FINALLY understand that I need to value myself enough to put me on the list of important things to do. Every single day. You have summed this up so very well. Congratulations on your success! May you continue to have success and good health. Thank you!2

Thanks! And you as well.0

This is the beat post I have ever read. Thank you for your honesty and opening up that way. It makes so much sense and is so simple. It is all about choices. I have been at both ends (anorexic and overweight/out of control). The choices I made and make every day, that will determine if I lose, gain or stay the same. One choice at a time seems less daunting.2

It is simple, but I don't want to come off as an expert. The post just reflects how my thinking is evolving. And believe me, it took years, YEARS, to get to this point. Therapy, at least for me, was vital. And I am always so slow to change. For years, every time I would slip into a major depression, my husband would tell me over and over--you have choices. You have options. You have decisions. It took me so long to internalize that concept and I'm still working on it every day.2 -
Thank you for the wonderful advice. I've yo-yo'd the same 25 pounds up and down for years. Its easy for me to blame my T1D and insulin for my continued struggles. But that is also a copout and you are 100% right. At the end of the day its ultimately my choices that determine my path. Thank you for the reminder. MFP gives me the accountability I need to keep moving along. It's math. Eat X, and keep moving so that at the end of the day the food calories in, minus the exercise calories out equals Y. This turtle may be slow, but she's steady and plans to win this race once and for all.1

Thank you so much for whole heartedly sharing your journey. It's all about choices to move and what we eat and that ultimately is a choice to be happy.2

Today, you can make a great choice. You can choose to show up. And tomorrow, you can decide to show up again. And again. Pretty soon you’ll have a whole string of days where you decided to show up. To pay attention. To make choices. And good things will happen.
So show up. And keep showing up.
Thank you so much for your post. I struggle with staying on track - but when you break it down to the perspective of just showing up ... making your choice ... it takes away all those nasty distractions and makes the path so much more clear.
