Trying to decide if I should map out another mile for tomorrow's run, just in case.....I've averaged 10:33 over my last 5 long runs, (7-10 miles), and with the time limit on the run scheduled for tomorrow (2:15:00) I could average 11:57 and make the time limit with the 11.2 miles I have mapped out.....so, I'm kind of tempted to add another mile on the end, just in case I'm feeling it......1

@Lord007 Great running!1

So I've been too busy over the past couple days to check in, but I just made it through all 256 intervening posts. Holy crap...you guys are all amazing. I'm a little too overwhelmed to post any individual comments, but to those rehabbing or facing surgery, I wish you a speedy recovery, and to those who have achieved personal bests, congratulations!
I did get in a 4 mile run at dawn on Tuesday and Thursday this week, as per my schedule, so that makes 58 total miles towards my May goal of 60. Since tomorrow is my long run and I'll still have Tuesday next week, I should probably revise that goal to 72. (Done!)
Happy running, y'all!5 -

Just finished my last c25k run! I have officially graduated!
In 30 minutes, I can run 2.25 miles, at least on the treadmill. I can probably go a little farther outdoors, but I will test that theory over the weekend. So I need to work on getting up to 3 miles, which is what I will be doing for the next couple weeks. After that, it's time to work on 10k.

@RespectTheKitty Great job finishing C25K0

4 quick miles this morning along some trails as I was a bit behind on time and heading back south. I might run tonight with a neighbor one I get back to Florida though, and am looking to avoid too many long runs in the heat this weekend.

all the discussion on biking makes me really want to bike! haven't been on one in 11 years new york is the worst city to drive and bike in, imho....0

45 min low impact cardio this morning. Other than that, scrubbed floors and this dreary weather has killed my interest in being outside. But who knows. I may still jump on the bike this evening.
Ordered the 12oz version of @WhatMeRunning's water bottle and it's already shipped from amazon/third party. Woohoo! I had a $10 amazon card (coke points - because I'm a diet coke addict) so $14 instead of $24 helped me bite the bullet and order.
Highly considering a trail run in the morning.

Rest day today. While I'm still not sure how long it will take to get into race shape, I broke down and registered for another race. I've got to be in shape to run a 10K by Thanksgiving Day, right?
Anyway, Race with Grace is a must-run on my calendar. Even if I have to walk it, I'm going back for my 6th year. A 10K Thanksgiving morning is the best Thanksgiving Day tradition I have. And I didn't want to take a chance on not getting in early enough to get a tech shirt instead of cotton.5 -

But there are so many bike paths in NYC... Sure riding in the street is scary (omg) but I was really pleasantly surprised by how far I could go just on paths.

I've been shocked when I visit my daughter in Manhattan how many ride in the streets... like right along with the traffic. I don't think I could do that!

Go barefoot.2 -
5 miles on the bike. Screwed up and wore baggy shorts. They ride up and my inner thighs chafe. I only make this mistake once each summer. Lol. I was even slower than normal thanks to the annoying shorts issue. 8.3mph. My biking is probably a joke to real cyclists I also ride an $80 girl's Huffy bike. I'd get kicked out if this was a cycling group. Lol.5

Neighbor wanted to run tonight after I got in from the airport, so I joined him for 4 miles of Florida steamroom like running conditions, even when it poured for a half a mile, it returned to icky humidity immediately afterwards. On the plus side, only 18 more miles to hit my goal for the month, and I'm returning north in a week.

5/26 so for those of you who remember Lily the rescue whippet, she is no longer terrified of DH, and happily follows him everywhere, especially to the cookie bin. However, she and Akamai the border collie/Australian shepherd play so hard....that he ruptured his ACL and needed semi-urgent surgery. So, instead of running much, I am dog-nursing. Not too sure I'll scoot past my scootch this month

Happy weekend everyone. Today I ran with...people. I posted a week ago how some guys started a thing that we should run together every Saturday and today we did. 9 people gathered and we did a 5k. Now 2 of them were really good runners with a 17 min on 5000 m so I decided to do a speed workout to see how it goes since I didn't do one in about 2 months. So basically was a tempo run and it was great. Kinda hot but great.

WhatMeRunning wrote: »@_nikkiwolf_ - I saw your Strava run yesterday with the crazy climb! Your slopes far exceed mine! I had to go 12 miles along the hilliest 12 miles I have yet strung together starting from my house to get my 1400 feet yesterday. The only reason I'm giving you any elevation challenge is just because I'm a bit worried about that hilly 50k I signed up for that supposedly has almost 7000 feet of elevation gain! So I've been doing lots of hills over the last week. I could use the mountains you live by right now for sure!
I'm starting to get used to the slopes around here, but while 10% might be "comfortably hard", 20% are still borderline walking (depending on the length of the slope and the surface), and anything beyond that is a case of "are you *kitten* kidding me?!".
Your planned 50k sounds awesome! If you enjoyed running in that hail storm, you sure have the right attitude for something like that!
@EvgeniZyntx Actually, that "cars hate bikes" thing is not limited to the US, sadly enough. In my little corner of France, a lot of people actually think I am crazy for riding my bike to work, because the number of bike accidents is so high. Not in the nearby cities, but out here in the countryside, a lot of the roads don't have any shoulders to speak of, so you need to ride in the middle of the lane. On the main roads connecting the different villages, people speed like crazy, even (or especially) when it is dark.
And I can't count the number of times I was going round a roundabout and had to frantically break, because a car driver passed me on the inside and then pulled over in front of me to leave the roundabout - when it was absolutely obvious they had to have seen me! I was quite shocked the first few times, now I'm already expecting that every car driver out here will try to kill me. One of my colleages actually got into an accident like that a few month back, where she didn't manage to stop in time and crashed into the car. She flew forward and hit it with her head, and even the helmet couldn't prevent her from smashing a few teeth - not good!
Once you get of to the small curvy mountain roads, you are actually fine, because people drive slower and expect cyclists. They just don't seem to be willing to respect cyclists that are using the main roads. I always ride the long way around on my way to work - takes me 25 minutes instead of 15, but a little extra "crosstraining" can't hurt...
@kristinegift Congrats on the 1001 miles, that's really impressive!!!
@ddmom0811 So cool that you saw Mars! I know what you mean about nauseating strobe lights - I have one which I need to but on my back where I can't see it, otherwise it drives me mad during the run. And as soon as I get home and it starts reflecting off the mirror in the lobby, I snatch it and switch it off, before wiping my feet or digging out my keys. So bright! But that means car drivers should be able to see it even in dark and foggy nights. I'm just hoping they won't be tempted speed up like crazy to get past that annoying blinking light
@lporter229 That's so great that your puppy is learning to run with you! Sounds like you are both having fun3 -
Thanks for commenting on my trail running questions @PoppetsMaster @4leighbee @EvgeniZyntx @instantmartian and everyone I might be forgetting! Sounds like I need to by some smartwool socks or something fancy like that - my "three pairs for 10$" running socks were defenitely not drying very quickly.
@RespectTheKitty Congratulations on finishing C25k, great job!
@DrLauraDVM16 Already past your first goal, well done!
@AdrianChr92 Nice picture! Reading posts like that makes me wonder if I should try to find people to run with too - there's just don't seem to be any groups nearby, and spending an hour driving there and back with the car seems like a lot of trouble...
@Orphia Congrats on the new PB!
Work's been crazy the last couple of days. I'm on-call, and, annoyingly enough, that means people are actually calling me. All the time! I tried to go for a run this morning, planning to do short enough loops near my car that I could manage to be at work in under 30 minutes. After 5 minutes, I got the first call, could solve the problem on the phone, but then I didn't even finish the first loop when I got the next call and had to head over in person *sigh*. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be more quiet, I might try another loopy run this evening and/or tomorrow to preserve my sanity!0 -
I'm planning for 15 miles today and quite nervous about it. It's still 15 miles if I stop and have a banana mid-way through right?5
