Jen!! Glad you found us, many people are doing FB, Proboards and I know Lana knows the other one. It was important for us to remain an open type of discussion so people could drop by and not all of the boards had that option, so we landed here. The WW boards are done end of this month with "Connect" starting on the website sometime in August. I got so miffed that I cancelled WW and dont really care what they do ..... Glad you had a good time in Hawaii - I am assuming that is true.....
I get to go to a BBQ so I am hoping to make good food choices. Got message from PCP to have a follow up appointment.... yikes open the door and I get flooded with things to take care of medically.
Will stop by later. See if any of the CBoys show up at the BBQ. I needed a laugh, sorry4 -
No Cboys and sat with woman I really wanted to get away from, so I left early. Will drink another bottle of water and see about ignoring the kitchen.2

Resisted urge to get ice cream tonight when out shopping. Instead came home and did 2 miles on treadmill and my arms/abs and drank more water. Tracked everything I ate today. There is room for improvement. Need to think of facing the scale so I can focus on making the number go down. Pants are snug in waist - have been avoiding by wearing dresses but I've got to "get real".8

TGIF
Good morning, shouts out to Annie/Mimzy for leaving ice cream alone and doing anything else, but she went shopping and did treadmill work - that is 2 wins!! I think Lana suggested to weigh in so you can see where you are and adjust from there.
If I am lucky and I remember to.... I will get to Michael's and see what kind of cord necklaces I can get in their jewelry section. Yarn is dong the trick for now.
HOT weekend so I get to quote "Love Shack" this weekend, I know you are looking forward to it.
Able to help coworker with her file because I cleaned mine up so well.
Message from Dr wanting a follow up apt, so hopefully it is a true follow up apt not results of mammogram.... we shall see. She gave me her working hours and she starts at 6:30 so I might catch her before work.
TGIF one more time. Wishing all a good day.0 -
TGIF! Yes, Sara, I believe it was Lana who urged me to weigh in. I finally did so this morning and am at 151.4, which is 4 lbs up from my lowest weight of this summer. My goal is to get down to at least 145 and my ultimate goal (which I have never reached since I started trying to lose weight) is 140. So, now I know where I am and can work from there.
Our shopping last night was to purchase school supplies for my kiddos. We looked for the best deals but it is still an expensive proposition, especially when both really needed new backpacks. (We always re-use backpacks until they need to be replaced.) The two younger kids were very excited about it all. DS who is heading to college did not come along but we picked up a planner and some notebooks, folders, pencils, and pens for him. Will have to look into his need for textbooks soon.
I have one homework assignment to finish for the course I am taking and then can request to have the test open for the weekend. Hoping I can fit the assignment in on my lunch break today.
Going out to a Plant Nite (similar to a Paint Nite) with some co-workers this evening so will not be exercising but will try not to eat/drink too much and will keep it very light through the day to offset.
Sara, I hope the follow-up needed with your doctor is not serious.
Have a good day everyone. Very hot here, as well. Drink your water!

Good evening, Tillie is being my shadow now that I am home. She is getting groomed tomorrow so she will be pretty - not happy but pretty. Waiting for frozen lasagna, thought about something else for dinner and then got lazy.
Find me under Lana's Palm Tree snoring ....... Wishing all a good evening.1 -
Just a random funny... Not so funny... I was sitting in a meeting at work, today... I started spacing off and reading a bag in front of me. 46g of Protein popped out at me... Then, I realized it was a bag of kitten Chow! I almost got excited for a second... hehe10
-
Dawn, meetings are so dull, I probably would have done the same thing!! Lucky little kittens...1

That's what I thought! Where's my Protein?!0

SATURDAY
Good morning,
Dog keeps me on schedule. She is taken care of and now I need to go back to sleep. Dog is going to groomer this morning so I could not sleep in and get all of my errands done.
Hot temps today, will comment later.
Wishing all a great Saturday.1 -

Good morning Sara ....
Sara, when you have a dog like Tillie, is it her breed (and luxurious coat) that determines how often you take them to the groomer? Or is it nails and glands and such?
I am dreaming of a day with Shih Tsus. I can give them baths in the kitchen sink, and I think I can learn to brush their puppy cut (for sure a puppy cut) and plumey tails, but the trimming etc must be done by professional. Is it once or twice a month, or as needed? Is Tillie on a regular monthly appointment with groomer? Just dreaming and planning ahead. I love dogs, but never had one.
Waves to Annie and Liz and Jen and Chamie and Dawn~~~
I've got a bunch of stuff to do today, most of it healthy

THE BECK DIET SOLUTION Starting Monday August 1st ......
over on The GDT ExPats boards, for anyone interested:
http://us-gdt-ex-pats.freeforums.net/thread/840/round-beck-solution-discussion-begins
Lana1 -
Back from errands to pick up dog to go to groomer.
She goes to groomer once x 2 months, she gets her nails/glands done at vet every 6 weeks ( I am adding rabies vaccine on this one next Sunday). I got her as an adult and tried to bathe her more often..... if you can get a puppy and train them to sinks then awesome. If you want to learn you can groom your dog - but it is often worth the money to get them groomed. My dog has 2 different nail colors (white an black - just like her fur!!) and so trimming black nails is tricky, so I let someone else do it and get the dirty look from the dog.....
Many changes in my life this year and I had to say good bye to one of my favorite people she is moving away to start a new career and more power to her. I gave her my username here and who knows? She may even stop by.
Got on scale this morning wearing less than usual for my official weigh in and the number was one I have not seen in awhile, so that is encouraging. I like this site because it breaks down food and as I have to watch sodium more that is a big help.
Thanks for the Beck Diet Solution (so nice to be able to write it) and the link. May just be the time to start in earnest.
Will stop by later.

Hi All-
Still trying to get adjusted to the boards. I kind of like that it is one on going thread- I can read and catch up easily. So today I decided to actually join WW and go to the meetings. I am just going to try it for 3 months. I had success when I went to meetings. Something about accountability with me. It's like getting on a scale in front of someone that makes me feel like I have to answer for myself. I went in and got a weird vibe from the woman. Very scatter brained - wasnt following me when I said I did it online etc. Anyway...
So yes, I've been gone since June 30th - Was in NYC for about 10 days- then Hawaii for 10. I guess on a positive note when I weighed in today I weighed exactly the same as when I left. So on one hand I didn't gain, but I really did not eat that much either. I really thought with being so active - I would have dropped a pound at least. I swear, it's almost like my body does not want to drop lower - I have been at this weight since March! Clearly, something is not working, which is why I decided to try the meetings.
Interestingly, they are not at all mentioning the other plan (what was core) I follow that online and when I mentioned it, she just said they were not encouraging that. hmmmm
So I brought the Beck book with me and never opened it. I did read 3 other books though-
Just trying to settle in to my new place- got the bathroom done- now on to the kitchen.
Will be back later-

Calny/ Jen = I guess on a positive note when I weighed in today I weighed exactly the same as when I left.
That is a huge success. Okay it may not feel like one but you at least broke even. I really like the meetings so I am glad you could get one that fits (location/time etc). I really like WW is going through such a transition it will just take them time to "get it together".
I like tracking here on this website so I can watch my sodium intake and seems I "under eat" which is surprising, but if this works and it is "healthy", whatever works, right??
Nap in the cards today. Will stop by later.

Drive by waving. Be back later. Hope all had a good Saturday0

SUNDAY July 24th
Good morning all.
I'm off to meditation down in Chelsea, then the health club pool.
Weigh in this morning was up .8 to 220. I'm OK with that - glad it wasn't more.
BBL

Good morning,
Lana, thank you for starting. I was trying to find a little more sleep, didnt happen. How far is the meditation place from you?? Enjoy the pool. Good attitude on the weigh in....
Dog ready to go out. Sprinklers are on, so with any luck they will be done when I finish eating breakfast.
Groceries then housework, will make black bean burgers again for dinners- hot week all 100 plus so want easy entrees.... made fried rice last night (chicken was still frozen so I will cook that up today).
Will stop by later, wishing all a good morning.0 -
Good Sunday Morning! I feel like such a slacker by reading everyone else's plans for the day. Debating going fishing .. Thinking it's going to be miserably hot again. Ugh
Black Bean Burgers sound interesting...
Just chillin for now... Hanging with man and dogs watching movies... Need motivation to do anything...
Happy Sunday to all... Hope to stop by later...0 -
Sara - the mediation place is about 1.5 miles from my apartment, but definitely not walkable in this heat, so a fairy short subway ride there and back. It was very warm there; air was not on, fans going, so I stayed only about 30 minutes. Good enough. Got vegetables one the way home.
Dawn, what section of the country do you live in with today's weather being "miserably hot"? I guess it could be just about anywhere with the way things are now.
DH has gone to the health club. I don't know whether to bother or not. The pool will be filled with kids and families. It's much better on weekdays. It's very tempting to just stay inside where it's cool.
Dinner is cheap steak, broccoli, potatoes.
Lana0 -
My to do list is half done, letting the heat outside dry my clothes. CA does not have the humidity so on days like this it is easy. Half of my list done by 9:30 - have a netflix to watch "confessions of a geisha", an area of junk to deal with and vacuuming (dog hates it so I dont do it as often). Gee, a nap should fit into there somewhere..... right??
Dog looks extra pretty after grooming, which makes me run up and hug her. Sometimes I see the dirty look from her.......
Having frozen banana and peanut butter for after dinner treat. Bananas were not going to make it and so I peeled them wrapped them loosely in wax paper and put as many as I could get into a freezer bag.
Based on Myfitnesspal I am under eating calories, dont mean to, hence the peanut butter and banana.
I am considering another Question of the week.....
Yesterday I popped into my Supervisor's office and asked if she knew Sesame Street - just to make sure .... and I told her that "today was brought to you by the number 2" - the number of invoices I have over 90 days in my workfile which I guess is unusual in our department - she picked the letter Q - so yesterday was brought to you by the number 2 and the letter Q.
Enough about me...... Dawn - fishing?? It can be a very relaxing thing to do and I know people who love the peace and quiet. I get sunburned thinking about it, so I hope you get to go and have a good time (imagine me on the shore under an umbrella).
Lana - hey to have a place to meditate that close is wonderful. I have no clue where there is one in my area. I am glad you went. My dinner is leftover fried rice with the chicken I will cook up for meals/salads for this week.
If you are still reading, extra sparkly fishy stickers for you!!
Stay cool out there, easy day to get our glasses of water in......

Lana- I am in the wonderfully great state of Misery... Err, Missouri... Lake of the Ozarks to be precise. It has been triple digit heat indexes for 2 weeks. Supposed to be slightly cooler (80 deg actual temp) unfortunately we do have humidity.... sometimes it's enough to take yer breath away... jumping in the creek wouldn't be a bad idea, actually
Sara- I might have to be under an umbrella, if I were to sit on the shore.. Not looking like a plan, at least for this morning...AC kicked on before 10:00am, which means it's gonna be a little warm, today.
Nap sounds pretty good, too... still lacking motivation...
PS... What's our letter and number, today? Hehe. I had to laugh at that1 -
Morning All-
Lana- where do you go for meditation? I started TM in California but saw they have a center in Manhattan too. Have you ever been to this place in Queens called Spa Castle. I think that is the name. Its supposed to have all these hot tubs/pools etc.
Sara- I have finally made it back to NorCal so weather has been nice up here. Warm but not too bad and nights are pretty comfortable. Better than the weather I had in NY and while Hawaii was wonderful- sure was humid.
Dawn- do you do fresh water fishing? I used to go sea fishing for Blue's when I lived in NY, it was fun to just be out on the ocean.
I'm still unpacking. 10 days in Hawaii and feeling good is gone already. Been cleaning, moving etc and I am sore and achey. Ugh. I have not been eating much as I have been busy but I dont think what I have been has been that great. Late dinner last night was nutella and a banana.
I just bought (and assembled) and outdoor electric grill. Anyone use one before? I usually like propane but since I have a deck in a small complex, I thought they may not allow propane. I have heard mixed reviews. Will try later in the week. I am a big griller so I hope I like this. Well I have a ton of styrofoam I need to dump and have no idea where- guess I'll just drive around with garbage till I find a dumpster.
Have a happy Sunday!
Jen-0 -
Jen- We live at the Lake in Mo. No Ocean here. We fish for Crappie and Catfish, mostly.
We have an electric grill. We use our charcoal one mostly. But, when we're in a hurry, we use the electric one. It's easier for me and it cooks really nice. I think you will like it at the very least, just for the shear convenience.
Well, back to doin nothing on this incredibly warm Sunday!

Our high was 106 yes I get to remind you of Love Shack's lyrics at the end where a man whines "its hot in here".
Dawn is that one dog or 2 in your avitar and we love to know pets names......0 -
Sara- It is 2 Boston Terriers... both rescues... Domino has been with us for about 6 yrs or so. She is about 10 yrs and spunky as ever. Although, she recently injured herself and has a torn ACL that is giving her trouble. We have only had Max since late May. He is 8 yrs old and acts as if he's 2. They are the best dogs we have ever had. They truly are like having small children. They have very distinct personalities and very emotional. Love them to pieces.2

MONDAY
Good morning,
Down .2 this morning, weighted myself twice and took the better of the two....
Hot here and Monday. What joy. Have Wednesday off to get hair colored. Never want to rush anyone coloring my hair, and the apt itself takes well over an hour so I just take the day off.
Need to have blood drawn as part of annual physical, so I will do that same day. Have not been taking BP per pcp instructions (pcp is primary care physician or your main doctor who is a general practitioner) so will try and take it more often this week. We shall see.......
Some lunatic likes to set off fireworks around after 9 at night and dog was all crazy. I said lunatic because they set them off here in the parking lot where there are close enough buildings......Luckily it is not every night.
Bought 2nd pair of stronger reading glasses for around $20 at store so I can read things that have insanely small print.. other pair will stay at work. One pair is purple and the other is fusia.
Will lurk from work. Wishing all a great Monday - make the best of it.0 -
had a squiggly line that is Fuchsia.....

Please help, I have been a lifetime member WW only to gain all of it and some more back. I got on the scale this morning and weighed 195. I don't want to keep doing this. I had gotten down to 154 a 1 1/2 ago and now back to this. I use food as a reward, medicine and everything else.0
-
Good morning! Have not weighed myself since Friday. I'm sure it would not be good. Weekend was fun and busy but contained too many treats and carbs. Got in lots of steps, so that is a plus. I have to find a way to not let my family drag me off track. Today will be a challenge as we have a potluck at work, so I ate an egg for breakfast and will plan something low-cal, low-points for supper. For lunch, I will do what I can based on what others bring.
Finished up week 3 of a 6-week class last night, so happy to be halfway through! Lots of homework again this week, which will keep me busy.
Participating in a meeting from 9-2 today and not looking forward to it. I have a lot of REAL work to do and this meeting will accomplish nothing. Grrr.
I'll CBL!
