So relieved, Lana, that all is ok and sunny in Chapel Hill!2
-
so good to hear that Chapel Hill is safe and sound!
new medication must be working. pain lessened today. not that i could run a marathon or anything, but at least walking to the bathroom doesnt bring me to tears.
also was able to keep calorie intake pretty close to budget! only over by a scant few rather by hundreds or thousands... now if i can keep it that way!4 -

Thanks guys really appreciate the names and Skinny, no worries I hadn't even realised. Just thought there was a Regina in here 😂
Lana that's great news that you're safe. Can imagine it was pretty awful waiting to see what would happen. We don't get hit with too much of that weather here thankfully.
I've never done jury service though both my mum and my husband have. Over here it's a lot of sitting around waiting for something to happen. I hope yours is more interesting!
Not really much news here today, I've stuck to my plan of gradually getting more active and today brings me exercise calories earned of over 2000 just from walking. I guess having this bulk around had to be good for something! I can't wait to get it gone though!
Happy weekend all! Hope it's a good one 😊2 -
nikki there is a Regina - she posted recently.2

Found out definition of what my coworker called my Sup = fits her well, dont understand the term though.
Have to call Monday after 5pm- none of the groups got excused. Just rolling my eyes.
Announcement today was that another coworker under same Sup got a job and today was her last day.... We shall see if my change was posted after I left. My new Sup said we have an ergonomic eval on Tues - still not sure if I will be there and she helped me with finding the phone # I need to call if I get Jury Duty - my current Sup said she would take care of it, but better safe than sorry.
In case I dont get back before lights out, wishing all a good night.2 -
Morning all! So today is my pjs and cupcakes day as Sara posted above. Except not cupcakes because luckily for me I don't like cake. Instead when I shift my body from my bed it's going to be a light treadmill walk in said pjs to get me going, then the washing followed by another walk on the treadmill and then a trip up to see the horses.
What does everyone else have planned for their Saturday?2 -
I am feeling really frustrated! I have been hovering in between the same 3 pounds for a week and a half now. I’m constipated and uncomfortable. Today I have a bunch of running around to do, so I’m going to pick up a food scale while I’m out. Chickens need feed so do the dogs and cat. Maybe I’ll carry the 50 lbs bags the long way into the house to get my steps and some weight training!1

Just a suggestion but have you tried eating fresh raspberries? They're great for helping me in that area! Might be worth a try?
Hope you feel better soon, miserable being uncomfortable like that.1 -

I will have to give the raspberries a try! Thank you!2 -
Kathryn--glad to hear the pain is subsiding and congrats on keeping the calories down! I hope these are trends that continue for you!
Nik--I'd rather have jury duty be a lot of sitting around (meaning, you are never chosen to serve on a trial) than be placed on a long trial and have it be interesting! My employer only pays for 10 days of jury duty! Congrats on getting that walking in! Keep that going! I hope to get a good amount of exercise today (and tomorrow), too!
Sara--I have always wanted to do an ergonomic eval at work. I hope your jury duty doesn't mess with that!
ama--I hate that feeling. I also find drinking a lot of water helps. By a lot I mean 30-60 ounces per day.
As for me, well, I sheepishly admit that I joined WW yesterday just so I could buy a priority ticket to Oprah's 2020 VIsion tour when she comes to town in January. I'm such an Oprah fan girl. My plan is to attend a meeting today (I paid for it, why not) get all of the materials etc, buy my Oprah ticket when they go on sale Monday, then quit WW again after a month. I am doing the coaching for free through Omada and MFP for free so I don't think I need to pay for WW too. But, I'm going to go to the meeting today. My son has a baseball game later this morning and then we've got a church picnic tomorrow for which I need to prepare a dish. Other than that, meal prep, exercise, and a little bit of work.

SATURDAY
Good morning,
Went through State Jobs online I saved and tossed many of them - I have a couple I may have a running shot at as they involve insurance. I have I think 6 jobs so far I have a decent shot at, keep plugging away
Quiet weekend with any luck. Knitting/napping, soccer on the tele, online series. About the gist of it.
Skinny - I bet a lot of people will join WW for the ticket and then fade away..... It is a good program but if the $$ isnt there it is hard to keep in the budget.
Its a little strange having people post before in the dark am, something I will gladly get used to. I mark the days (like today is SATURDAY) for two reasons, to remind me and keep me grounded and to help people scrolling back.
Coworker works at the Burning Man festival in Nevada and she showed me pictures. Too old to go and it is too far away, but it is tempting. I am glad she got to go.

Sara--good for you for exploring your job options! Just keep chipping away at it. WW is a great program for weight loss but as a SERIAL STARTER I know I need something different/more. I've never been able to keep the weight off, even with WW. So maybe MFP+Omada+WW (short term) will make the difference!
I admire anyone who goes to burning man. Sounds hot and crowded to me!
I think Nik will be the earliest riser in the group--maybe she can also start her posts with the day of the week in all caps? In my case, it was a rarity that I beat you to posting. Just got up early for no reason!3 -

I can do that, though I think I'm only early because you guys are on US time. I think about 6 hours behind us give or take. If I'm honest though I'm not an early riser 😂 I'm always last up in our house. I'll try to post before work though itll be short and sweet on Tuesdays as that's my only day in the office and I have to get there for 10am so it's a bit of a rush! I'm so not a morning person!
Anyway, had to share, my scales this morning put me in another stones bracket if you know what I mean! So I'm over the moon! Can't remember what total loss is right now but I've done a little victory dance this morning as well as a treadmill workout!
Skinny, I hope you get your Oprah tickets. I'll admit I'm not much for tv but even I've heard of her so im guessing she's pretty special out there!
As an aside, does anyone mind if I friend request you? My newsfeed is very quiet as it seems most of the people I spoke to last year (like me) disappeared so it's a bit dull!

Ps Sara, what's the Burning Man festival please?1

Hi Everyone!!
I probably won’t go back and read all my missed posts as there are about 620 plus of them.
I’m doing SO much better. My depression is finally being dealt with in an effective manner for me and that means I can start to focus more on my physical health again. 😁
I’m not sure I’ll be on here daily to start back in, but will try at least once a week to pop in. I’m moving at the end of this month and it’s going to be interesting to see if my new place is ready and passes inspection in time to move directly from here to there. Otherwise, I’ll be looking for a storage unit and a couch to call home for awhile. Worst case, I’ll go back to a homeless shelter, but I know it would be easier since I already have a place to go. It was too hard when there was no end in sight and knowing my mother died while homeless. She had been missing for about a decade and when she died we found out she’d been in a homeless shelter for six years. Even in a different state, checking into a shelter with the same name was too hard. Sometimes I just found a place to park on the street or stayed with strangers to avoid the panic. But this would be different.
So, lots of packing. Going to doctors to work out health issues. I’m moving more and eating a bit better. Doing more activities and realizing I have actual worth and value. People do enjoy my presence and I’ve stopped running after people who didn’t, which left me feeling worthless. Funny how when I gave them up and decided I’d prefer the pain of loneliness over the pain of not being good enough, so many opportunities have come to spend time with folks that value me and want to spend time with me.
Sorry if this is TMI. I’m just bubbling over with joy so much lately at such a different way of living, I’m probably telling more than some folks want to know!
I started a dance program again yesterday. I stopped last fall when my pelvic pain debilitated me from doing much of anything. But we got that diagnosed and I’m doing much better. I’ve adjusted just as I did with chronic back pain and I can function in daily life again.
Hope everyone has a great week! I’ll do my best to check in now and then even if I can’t comment.

Runa, thank you for checking in!! We were wondering if you were okay - glad you have some stability and grounding. You are making yourself a priority which is wonderful.
Niki - I dont do "friending" as I dont know what that means. I have 30 some strangers on this website who want to be my friend and if they dont read this board - they have no clue why I have not responded.......I hate doing links but best way to understand Burning Man is to look at it. https://burningman.org/event/ ...... I know there are similar things in England perhaps not as big or as weird.
So long as someone writes what day it is - I would lose time / day too quickly otherwise.
Trips to garbage - need 5 feet of space for windows to be replaced some time not yet determined, so I am dejunking the easy stuff now.
Cauliflower and carrots to roast for daily hummus snacks this week - assuming Jury Duty stays away.
Despicable me on dvd from netflix and a nap - I tend to fall asleep in animated movies, but we shall see.
BBL.

Wow Sara that looks fabulous. I don't think we have anything quite the same here though! I think that may have to go on my bucket list of things I'm going to do before I'm 50! Thanks 😊2

Runa!
How wonderful to hear from you! Please just peep in when you can.

SUNDAY
Good morning,
Oatmeal on stove. Dust from areas cleaned yesterday has me congested and so sleep after breakfast will be welcome.
Weight is on a downward trend again, so will make sure not to celebrate too much with food.
Wave to all who follow.2 -
Runa--I'm new so I don't know all of the backstory, but kudos to you for working to get your mental and physical health in check and working towards housing stability! So critical for wellbeing! We are here for you when you are able to check in, and rooting for you when you are not. I will keep my fingers crossed that your new place passes inspection. That dance class sounds so fun!
Lana--glad to hear you arrived safely to NYC! I haven't been in years, but how fun to visit!
Ama--Track it and move forward. Today's a new day. Start afresh!
Sara--thank you for getting us started. Oatmeal is such a great way to start the day. Maybe celebrate your downward scale trend with a walk around the block or something or by blasting your favorite song!
As for me, I went to a WW meeting yesterday and sadly found it depressing rather than inspiring as I usually do. It's the same people who have been there for years, seemingly making no progress whatsoever. And I swear I'm the youngest person in the room (and I'm not young.) WW has really worked to modernize the program, though, with lots of new bells and whistles. I will use the tools for the next 30 days to get all I can out of it, and, of course, the priority access to the Oprah tickets, then cancel.
I finally motivated myself to get on the elliptical machine yesterday--got about 30 minutes in. Will try for more today. I can't remember--I think someone might have asked what an elliptical machine is a couple of days ago and I think I forgot to answer. Not sure how to describe it, but it's similar to a stair stepper exercise machine, except that your steps are very fluid and more rounded. I think it's supposed to be less strain on your body than a stair stepper.
This morning: church potluck, then take my child to his sports activity. Meal prep and laundry later. (We'll grill salmon and veggies for dinner).
I'm really angry with my child right now. He took all of the cans from the pantry and stacked them in a tower in the middle of the floor in the basement. I told him to put it all back and, while I didn't expect he'd be able to re-organize them as I had them, he just threw them in all over the place, not standing up, but laying on their sides, even denting several. He said his dad said he could stack the cans. So, I've told my husband he gets to work with my child to put it all back. I am hiding in the spare room right now seething mad. I feel like our lives have been so out of control for the last 3 years. I've been working so hard the past several months to normallize everything, including getting the house in order. I can't believe my husband would sabotage my efforts by allowing this. So. Ding. Dang. Mad.
We tried a new recipe yesterday--are we allowed to link recipes? I recall from long ago that we are not. But I found it on Epicurious. It's called Mexican Fiesta Casserole and features ground turkey, black beans, corn, chopped onions and zucchini, corn tortillas (which turned to mush--why even include them?), taco seasoning, and salsa. Reduced fat cheese over the top, then bake. I think the recipe as written needs fine-tuning, but is a keeper. I might include some whole grains instead of the corn tortillas. And we used more veggies and less cheese than the recipe called for. And I'd eliminate the taco seasoning packet and just use a few choice spices instead. But, a pretty easy and delicious dish overall.
Anyway, have a great day everyone. Hello to all who follow.3 -
Oh, I forgot to mention--we are bringing cut watermelon to the potluck. I'm hoping for a veggie burger with maybe just half the bun. Maybe there will be a nice salad that doesn't look mayonnaisey.1

Morning all, well afternoon here but I’m very late checking in. Had to take daughter to a riding club event this morning and then hubby wanted help to go out shopping for some things he needs for his latest toy, a 3D printer of all things. Finally back home, it’s gone 2pm and I’ve only managed one quick 15 minutes on the treadmill!
Lana, have fun in NYC, always wanted to go there to do Christmas shopping but soooo expensive!
Skinny I hope your potluck goes well and that you get your cans back how you wanted them. Kids are hard work some times!
Hi to everyone and hope you have a great Sunday 😊2 -
Good morning All~~
It is really depressing being back in my shoebox of an apartment in NYC. I have a mountain of cleaning and paperwork to do~~

SUNDAY
AMA don’t beat yourself up . We all have ‘cupcake’ days as Sara called it.
I had an emotional weekend interring ashes of my lovely Dad. Been a tough weekend and spent all today travelling back from Manchester where we were with family. Ate far too much but it’s my usual comfort eating. Dreading scales tomorrow am.
Sara i was told clary sage would be good for perimenopause so have been trying that. It’s a nice smell:) it’s supposed to lift mood and anxiety.
Lana - i so agree re doctors and how they deal with back pain. Hugs to anyone suffering. It’s not fun.
Nik - hope you survived the shopping trip and you had a good weekend
Skinny hope you got through all you needed to.
Waves to all:)

Hi all! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Welcome to the new peeps! I’m awful with names, so I apologize in advance.
I’ve been busy. Had training the last 2 mornings at the 2nd job in retail and still loving it. I’m so glad that I decided on this one. But will see if I change my mind once the holiday shopping season rush comes in lol. But it’s a company where I love the products so...
You all should come over and enjoy the new fire pit. It was completed today!!! There may be a contender for a new cabana boy.
Here are the progress photos. And love how it glows out to the sides because of the spaces between the bricks.

MONDAY
Gemwolf - looks truly awesome the fire pit - must have taken some work so lots of calories burned too?!!!
Off to work and having that ‘I hate Mondays’ as dont really feel I had a rest this weekend. I need to have an early night tonight. One good thing I have kept the 1lb weight loss so that’s a relief but need to exercise tonight.
Have a great day everyone 👍4 -
Morning all!
@gemwolf110 that fire pit looks amazing. I'd love something like that here!
Back to work Monday morning for me too Laura! It's just no fun! I really enjoyed my job ip until recently but now finding it a real struggle to like at the moment. Mostly because with us being a charity we are overworked and under paid. I used to put in more hours without pay to get the work done but then our boss told us doing that meant we'd never get help so we've all stopped but I hate leaving things not done. Ah well. I'm on the road a bit today so that beats sitting around at my desk!
Happy Monday everyone!3
