Woke to kitchen sink flooding my kitchen. It is being fixed as I write and what a mess. Dog is with me wondering what that noise is.

Load of wet nasty towels in clothes washer.

How to reward myself? Any suggestions?

Not how I figured I would spend my night, but there it is.

I at least have the sense to wear my scarf mask while my kitchen is being vacuumed and sink snaked.

    BBL.

Dawn - so sorry to hear of the posting problems. Hang in there honey - Holly and Jean Paul will stop by to fix them for you.

Good grief Sara - glad your kitchen sink situation has been repaired. Plumbing problems are the worst, next to fire, of course.

Tracy - I like that idea of buying new towels as a reward. Have you all seen the Company Store colored checkered bath towels? My sister has them, and they can really perk up a bathroom.

Meanwhile, have I ever told you all my towel story?
For decades, I have gotten all of my towels (except beach towels) scavenged from my work. I was a stagehand who worked on Broadway.
It is in the actor's contract that the theater must provide them with shower facilities and each show must provide them with brand new hand and bath towels and face cloths. So for every show, there's a whole bunch of new towels purchased for the entire cast, with their names on a tag sewn onto their towels.

Well, between the fact that most actors don't need to actually ever shower in the theater and the fact that most shows in my theater were limited runs of only 12 or 16 weeks, I was able to gather up and take home tons of abandoned, gently-used or never-used towels!

So I have Katie Holmes's towels and John Lithgow's towels and Candice Bergen's towels....
No Hugh Jackman or Daniel Craig towels though......
    LOL~~

I could use one of those towels as a crying towel about now. PA schools closed for the rest of the school year.😢It just means many other things will follow. I have a nice camper in DE that I might not get to. I wonder what they will do with the money paid for the seasonal rent. Jean Paul and I were going to go to the beach in May! Ocean waves to all.

Lana to have something a "star" had - wowie and how functional too.....

Holly your May plans might be toast but dont give up on the rest of the year - those of us here will have a massive party when this virus runs its course and we able to safely socialize again.

As I dont have floor cleaner - I did find a swiffer wet cleaner to use on kitchen floor, better than nothing and at least I did something - when I put the hand wash dishes away it will be the cleanest that side of the kitchen has been in a long time.

Coworker hooked me into making "mask mates" that look like long jelly beans with 2 buttons on them. Using cotton yarn ( I was up last night anyway.......so I went through my yarn mess) I will crochet these things to give people wearing face masks ears a break - wear them at back of head or around neck and not irritate ears with the "hooks" of the mask. I made one and it is small, but I can use it so most will be a little bigger - the coworker has offered to deliver them to medical staff who will use them, that is her part of the bargain. Youtube has videos on making them.

Have to wash my face mask scarf so I will have to set up a load of laundry. Just really tired and domestic things are boring right now.

Hope everyone has had a good day - wishing all a good night.

Sara and Lana, adventures and great stories. Fun to read after a LONG day working.

Holly, sorry to hear that--but we may be able to salvage something eventually. When would school normally end for you? And what are they telling school leaders that the rest of us don't know? WI schools tend to end in the 2nd week of June and we have no word yet on whether or not we will reopen. We had 10-11 weeks left, more or less, when the shutdown started. I know schools in other states that only had about 6 weeks left. Those states are the ones that just closed down for the year a while back.

Didn't do anything but work today (and a bit of a nap). My allergies are in full bloom and I finally remembered to take my 24 hour pill. Usually need a week of 'em to see results.

I will have a heart catheterization on Monday--they wanted to get me in before Covid peaks here, b/c there is no telling how long it will be after that. I don't have any really worrisome symptoms and b/c my exercise test was so good, I'm hoping the Echocardiogram was a false positive.

    Talk to you all soon,

    FRIDAY

    Good morning,

Long week, but at least the work part is almost over.

Eating habits are getting better. Not a complete shift back to wholesome foods only, but the pendulum is shifting back.

Dog is up and fed which means I can get back to sleep. She can get demanding, but for her that is always a good sign.

Maureen - hope the procedure goes well Monday and that Dr was thinking proactively.

Wave to all who follow. Will stop by after work. Stay safe out there.

Maureen, I never had an echo done but had an EKG (ECG) done pre-op that said I'd had a heart attack. Went me to a cardiologist that told me the tech had the leads at the wrong place and I was fine. Prayers for you. Our schools close normally within the first week in June. The senior class might not have a graduation ceremony. Looking back whatever but at the time it is a rite of passage. Let's just say they will never forget why 😕 sigh. TGIF

Sara, I didn't mean your flooding was "fun." Just to clarify. I was completely empathetic b/c one side of my sink has flooded a couple times now and I really need to get a plumber in. I keep putting it off for absolutely no good reason. Your story is motivating me to make the call. And thank you for your good wishes.

Holly, thank you. Your experience helps me continue to shift to positive thinking. I have a graduating senior and she hasn't really said much--the funny thing is, her graduation was very much in doubt for all prior years of high school and she's been in a "last chance" program, rocking it. IDK how she really feels yet--my guess is that she doesn't know either (she isn't one to hide her emotions). I distinctly remember my graduation day--specific memories--but for me, the last day of school was the real "moment" to remember. And they won't have that. I do feel for them; it is a huge rite of passage. I'm hoping they find something in their very unique situation to compensate for what they are losing.

Hey to all; have a good day.

    Goodevening,

Was in the middle of moving a hot skillet with browned ground beef to sink when I "stepped on dog's toes" and beef went flying - I was able to do damage control, but ground beef on floor for dog to eat ??? heck no - so I cleaned it up and she is still trying to find it in the kitchen and I had to smack her to stop as the floor has chemicals on it now..... Just wanted to use my beef and stir fry before it "expired" - this is cherry on the sundae of a long week. We shall see if Miss T and I ate too much chemicals - dont think so but just my luck.

Will go back and read posts.

Sara, sorry about the beefcident. What a mess. Hoping Ms. T weathers it well.

Lana, thanks. I will not likely stay in the hospital. It's a possibility if they have to put in a stent, but since I'm hoping that won't happen, I'm planning to come home. And even if it does, they prefer to get me out same day b/c of Covid-19.

A very chilly day in WI but I got in about 5.5 miles with the pups. They are so good for my health, the needy little *kitten* :)

We had snow yesterday (didn't stick) and hail. Supposed to snow again on Sunday. I sure wish Spring would come to stay. I'm not letting it stop me but I'd prefer to have at least slightly warmer weather.

Happy Friday. Have a good weekend. Maybe take a trip to the room in your house you visit least; could be a good change of scenery.

    SATURDAY

    Good morning,

Now that I am back to work, dog is demanding for her breakfast. While I was out on leave she didnt, dogs are so smart.

One errand this weekend and that is to go to eatery and get a couple meals for this weekend.

Making apple crisp as well, get my fruit in with a little extra calories..... quiche is also on the way - not sure if Sunday or Monday.

Knitting and napping is the rest of my weekend - oh and maybe some online TV watching.

    Good morning Sara~~

I can't believe what happened in your kitchen with the ground beef. Dang. One good thing: neither you or Miss Tillie were hurt. You could have so easily twisted or sprained something or fallen, and that did not happen. Whew.
I trip over my own feet, without a dog~

Your apple crisp and your quiche both sound yummy!

    Maureen - 5.5 miles!!!! Wowie! That's a lot.
I hope that you and Lynn too get your warmer weather soon.
On Monday do you have a civilized appointed time to show up, or do they require you be there at O Dark Thirty?

    Dawn - where are you?
    Where is Kathryn?
Waving to Tracy in Tennessee and Holly in PA and Runa in OK and Missy in the Northeast and Saltine and and Tracey in Canada and anyone else who stops by later on.

    Hey Miss Lana-

In my adventures today I broke my 3 week "no cake/ice cream" ban and bought 2 pieces of cake. Different kinds I wanted to try a new one. One for today, one for tomorrow.

I also need to find an apple crisp recipe, the 2 cookbooks I have either does not have it, or wants me to use a skillet. Right now I am not fond of my skillet, and I will get over it eventually, so I will find another recipe. edit - found one that resembles something I have made before !!! Only makes 6 servings (others were 8-10 :o )

    SUNDAY

    Good morning,

Up with dog, back to sleep again.

Cooking mid afternoon so my dinner and dessert will be ready. The new cake piece I tried was really good. Mocha latte - at least I have another option at that bakery weeks from now.

Knitting on to do list as well. In looking through my yarn mess for any cotton yarn, I am finding shawls #5,6 and 7 with any luck there is enough yarn, still looking and I have to finish #2 3 and 4 as well. Room looks like a yarn bomb went off.....

Will watch Sunday Easter Service online. Glad that they can offer this.

    Happy Easter everyone~~

Welcome to mdr14 - I love your photo!

Good morning Sara - Yarn bomb, eh? I wanted to find a photo of something that might look like a big yarn mess, so I googled yarn bomb.
You must google it! Then click on "images" - holy cannoli! Yarn bombing is a thing! Amazing work!
There were so many cool photos, I couldn't decide which ones to post, so instead, I am mentioning it for anyone to go google it!

OK, Time to get more coffee and color my hair.....

Sara, your activity makes me feel tired. I'd rather walk a few miles than have to sort out a mess of yarn or cook.

Lana, how go your adventures in tax land? Any hope of escaping to the beach soon?

Welcome, mdr. I've never lost much weight but have started over many times for the same 10-20 lbs.

My legs are tired today--again. I've never had so much muscle soreness after weeks of hiking, so it does concern me. I hiked the Rob Roy Way in Scotland last year and didn't have this residual soreness day after day. But if my heart looks good tomorrow, then I know it's just age and maybe being overly-aggressive with my efforts. I might have to scale back to more miles in the very level park, and fewer on hills, at least for a while.

I've been back to evening eating--started watching movies in the evening with my son and can't seem to watch without eating. And going to bed later does help me sleep through the night better, although I'm still sore and tired in the morning. So, going to have to sort out a new plan for movie-watching. I can easily ask my son to start earlier, and have my dinner with the movie. I have been good about weighing everything I eat but I forget to log the last snack so my diary isn't very helpful. And up 1.6 from yesterday. I have been stalled for a week and this is the wrong movement. I know what to do--just have to do it.

    Have a good day, all.
    Maureen

On this blessed day, my ill, elderly, and beloved aunt has decided to stop all treatment for her heart failure (not Covid related). My heart is breaking. She is alone in the hospital. I don't know how I will bear it.

Hey, Lana. My shoes do need to be replaced, but I'm not jogging and they don't make this type of difference for me. My arches and knees hurt in a very specific way when jogging with shoes that are too old. I realize now that I went from exercising every other day--before school shut down--to exercising every day, and increased my average miles per day from about 1.8 to nearly 4. That's too much too soon. I'm glad I thought about it; this will help me return to a more even plan and feel better in general. I mean, I feel well and enjoy my walks, but I wake up so worn out even with good sleep. I'll turn it back a notch and try 2.5 miles daily, most on flat ground, and start building up to more and bigger hills more slowly. I'll wait a couple of days to start this and give myself a good rest.

My appt is at 9 am tomorrow--9:30 for procedure, 9 to check in and be screened for Covid before I'm allowed in the hospital. Apparently I'll have the procedure either way. But I was tested yesterday and no call, so I guess I don't have it right now.

    Thanks for thinking of me.

Maureen one good thing is that your aunt has the power to decide what she wants to do/not do with her ailment. Will keep good thoughts for her that the process is not painful.

yes, my most fervent prayer is that it is quick and easy for her. It was very hard to watch my dad die last November, but I was so, so glad to be there and help care for him in his last few days, with my sisters and brother and mom. A very old-fashioned death at home. What made it hard is we could not get enough morphine into him once he lost the ability to swallow, and they wouldn't let him have an IV at home--even though one sister is a Nurse Practitioner and the other is an RN. So he wasn't asleep most of the time. But only the last 36 hours were stressful, thank god. And he was adamant through his last months--with significant suffering on his part--that he wanted to stay home. I worried he was unable to communicate a desire for more drugs in that last 36 hours, and have to cling to the memory that it was what he wanted.

I won't let my kids go through that part; I will give them my blessing to take me to a hospital or hospice location where morphine can be administered through IV. My dad didn't know, I am absolutely certain. But I do.
