    Happy New Year all~~

Lynn - that is a huge deal getting your food logged. I applaud you, as it is daunting for me.

    Good afternoon,

People partying had me awake between 12-2am but why I stayed in bed until noon is more to the fact of how tired I am.

Missy - where do the people sit??

Paid bills online (with late fee :( on one) and going out and paying rent and donating to an animal rescue fund.

I may just stay under the covers and watch movies all day. Tomorrow I have to do errands.

Wave to all who follow. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good morning everybody ~~

Missy - what a wonderful collection of New Year's Fluffy Floofs you have! I can dream of what it's like to have all of them piled on top of me. You are a lucky lady to have them. Thank you for posting that photo 💖

Sara - You are very kind to contribute to an animal rescue fund--a very noble cause! I hope that your day of errands today goes well and that you enjoy the day! ☀️

It's another gray day here - my mother used to call these days "clousy". I need to get out for some exercise, but gee I hate walking when it's cold, wet, and icky. Definitely will need some inspiring tunes.

Waving to all who stop by later on 👋🏻

    Happy New Year all!
Missy - those dogs are beautiful. I wonder as I look at my tablet with a piece of dog hair on it how you deal with hair  My lab is shedding basket fulls right now. And it is winter - makes no sense.
Wishing everyone on here a happy, cherish yourself, healthy type of new year. Just heard on good morning America how being kind to oneself and talking to yourself like a friend rather than an enemy is the best resolution one can make.
Sarah - I am also very impressed at your donation. That is great! Hope you had a great day under the covers- sometimes that is needed.
    Have a great Saturday all!

Happy New Year to all my online friends. I've been pretty careless and disconnected for long enough. I wasn't worrying about what I ate over my winter break, and it shows--3 lbs up in the past few weeks. I know how to do this and just need to get back in the swing. Winter is always so much harder for me. But, I have decent boots and two dogs that love the snow, so it's just a matter of getting back out there. It is just too easy to use the cold as an excuse, but I know the cold doesn't actually bother me that much. It really is just an excuse. I know how to dress properly and unless it's a dangerous windchill, I want to get out. Well, except I don't. . . Lazy.

So, I'm having my carpet completely removed and planning to put in some easy-to-maintain vinyl or something like that b/c of the pets. Lots of things need doing around my house and I'll be chipping away at them this year. I am still thinking about moving to NC but will likely delay until I can officially retire in WI--3 more years. Not so bad.

My kids are all out of the house right now. Eldest has rented a beach front apartment in Miami, youngest is living with my sister in FL to avoid winter and get some nail technician and/or CNA training, and my middle son is vacationing with his brother and will go back to college after he returns. I'll have the house to myself until the end of February. I'm actually looking forward to it. And it sure makes it easier to get work done on the house.

I'm getting back to logging and back to tracking and improving my daily step/mileage average.

What is new with all of you?

    Good morning,

Groceries was successful in that I bought things for nice big salads for dinner to keep the after dinner munchies away.

Came home and slept. Had lunch called my father - he and his wife are taking the COVID test tomorrow as someone who was working on their plumbing had a positive test. So they go Monday. I being relaxed me went back under the covers and it is now dinner time.

Dog hair is lovely. Swiffer products I have found the best on hard floors.

I will be back to 6k steps on Monday

Stay safe and sane out there.

    Sunday, January 3.

Good morning and happy New Year to all!

I have decided to not make any grand proclamations regarding changes or goals. Instead, I am making quiet little promises to myself. Promises to do the best I can, to remain as calm as possible in stressful situations, and to take each moment carefully and thoughtfully.

This year will be a time to figure out how life really looks now. By the time I figure it out, I assume it will change again.

On a cheerier note, SO and I (finally) got out cookware cabinets cleaned out. Old cookware sorted, most of it tossed. New cookware has been sitting in a box for three years. It is now organized in the cabinets.

SO has difficulty bending to get stuff out of the lower cabinets. We can't afford to remodel right now or even purchase the cookware racks available for cabinets. Instead, we bought grey bus tubs like restaurants use to put in the cabinets. I stripped all the 1970's contact paper out and the tubs slide in and out easily to access the cookware.

Daughter and I spent 8 hours together yesterday--shopping, talking, eating, laughing. Why is this a notable event you ask? We live in the same house and don't see each other 8 hours a week most of the time. And it will be worse soon. She is halfway through nursing school, but begins a full time job as a monitor tech in ICU on the 16th. She lost her job in 2020 and it has been hard for me to pay my bills and hers too (car payments, insurance, loans.) Anyway, she's 30 and I really enjoyed our trip to buy her work scrubs and accessories.

Hope everyone has pleasant celebrations for the arrival of the new year. Wishing the best for everyone here.

    Good morning,

Scale down by ounces and I am just glad it goes that direction.

Father has agreed to pay for health insurance should I lose my job, which will be a huge relief. I just keep trying to keep this job as long as I can.

Tracy - good to hear from you - small steps and changes are the easiest to do and build on. Good job on the kitchen. Glad you got to spend some time with your daughter. She will be very busy soon.

Kitchen work today dishes in sink mainly.

I’ve been on MyFitnessPal for 10 years and I have definitely been a serial starter since my youngest was born! Hopefully the difference this time is that I’m happy because I’m no longer with a partner who only found me attractive when I was skinny, but have a lovely boyfriend who loves all of me, whatever size I am.

I hope that by this time next year I won’t be a serial starter anymore, but until then this seems a lovely, supportive group.

Welcome, Oishii. Did I spell that correctly?

I'm laughing at myself--130 cals over today's budget, and it's only 3 pm. That's ok--it means there are still 370 cals in my deficit, for now :)

I am struggling with weather and exercise. My dogs need it. I need it. But I am so uninterested and unmotivated. I'm trying to give myself permission to wait for my "zip" to come back. This isn't like me--tired body, lack of interest. Maybe the constant grayness is taking a toll.

I'm also trying to stop vaping. It scares me to think about the unknowns, and my vape habit is bad. I know that in general one shouldn't try to quit nicotine while trying to lose weight, but targeting one or the other hasn't gotten me anywhere. Maybe I'll just quit worrying about anything but right now--and enjoy my chat with y'all, and let myself enjoy being lazy as heck for a while.

My carpet is allllllllllllllll gone. such a relief. It was so awful.

Hi, Lana. Yep--very gray here the last couple weeks. And I know that once the sun shines, the wind will be high, meaning significant wind chill. But I am more likely to get out if the sun is out.

I think I'm going through some nicotine withdrawal today and b/c I've been cutting back recently, that may explain the recent struggle. Kind of depressed but not really. And then some anger. Usually I am very even-keeled so I have to give myself some time and space and grace.

    Hello Monday 👋🏻

Maureen - This morning, there seems to be something strange out my window: the color blue along with a lot of white up in the sky......
Sending you good vibes for your quest re nicotine 💪🏻⚔️

Sara - Sending you good vibes for your Monday at work. So glad that your father offered that cushion of help with paying for health insurance, should the need arise. 🤗

❓QOTD: What is one thing you will focus on this week in your weight loss efforts ❓

My answer of the day: Bring only healthy foods into the house.

My answer of the day: Begin to eliminate wheat products from my consumption routine. They will always be in my house due to other persons living here, but I have to stop eating them again.

    Good morning!
AOTD - Believe in my heart I am worth healthy foods for my body and soul.
Sara - I am glad you dad could take that stress off your shoulders. my POTM - working on it yet
Maureen - nice to see you back again! When we remodeled our house we only put carpets in some bedrooms. I love my vinyl laminate flooring. And except for cutting to size - it is super easy to put in. Good luck on the home remodels.
Lana - good morning! Great plan for the week.
Tracy - sounds like you have a great start to the new year.

It's nice to be back. Lana, glad you got some blue. Not here yet.

Lynn, I'm not even going to try on my own--will hire out the work. I'm my mother's daughter. Why do yourself what you can pay someone to do? hahaha. I wish I could do something. I've painted one room in my life and hated every moment of it. No skills, no tools. So projects will happen as I have the money to do them.

AOTD: I'll permit myself to ease back into my healthier routines. I've decided to take off from running until next Sunday, a 10 day break. Unless the sun comes out and I just get excited about it.

Hoping you all are enjoying the first week of 2021.

    Good evening,

Good to see people stopping by. Rained a good part of today but I did see the sun as I left work. I will get 6k before lights out.

AOTD: less junk and better food and 6k steps. Encourage good sleeping

I am making cookie dough as I overslept from my work nap - I will gift them Wednesday at work and the fewer days in the house the better - so just dough making. Will break in my new electric hand mixer.

Another cloudy morning here in NC. Yesterday, the sun never actually came out until late afternoon. Those blue patches were just a tease. Maureen hang in there up north~

Lynn - I need new flooring in my bathrooms and kitchen. Previous owners installed the cheesiest sheet linoleum, and every day it dampens joy instead of sparking it. I'm glad that you like yours.

Sara - you are right about getting good sleep! I had seen on the map that you were getting rain, which I think is always a good thing in California, except for the occasional mudslide?

Yesterday I literally overate. I cooked something, intending it to be 2 portions.....nope. Ate it all. This happened at lunch and dinner. *slap forehead* I should have padded each meal out with more veggies....

We had sun today! The dogs and I enjoyed a 2.5 mile romp and it was exhausting b/c I've been such a slug lately. It was about 29 and no wind, so perfect for what we did. That cold air zaps the bad energy right out of you. I'm feeling so relaxed. Lana, hope you get some sun soon.

I am thinking of doing interior painting before I put in anything on the floors. It would be so much easier with the rooms so empty. Might start looking at colors. Might not. Can you tell I'm not good at this? I like a lot of bright color--jewel tones--and I know that's not good for resale--but then, I don't really want to worry about resale right now. Does anyone know of a good website to play with color schemes?

Lynn, what flooring did you use? Would you be willing to give me a link to check it out? I've done the flooring thing before and have a bamboo laminate I love in the living room, but it's too dark for the rest of the house and every spot of dog hair or dirt shows. I need something a little less revealing. But it has held up to the dogs incredibly well. I might need to see if it comes in lighter colors b/c that might be perfect for the bedrooms. Then a self-cleaning roomba for each level of the house :)

Doing well with logging this week. It's nice to feel I'm building back some routines. I've been able to just go with the wind for so long and it got so easy to put off doing the logging. Putting off = never getting to it. So now I'm back to logging as I prepare my meal.

    Good morning.
Maureen - I bought my flooring at Home Depot. It is called Sawcut Classic 7.5 in. L x 47.6 in. W Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (24.74 sq. ft. / case) It was the flooring that had the most scattered wood grain pattern to it. The goal was to hide any and all dog scratches. Which was very successful! Roomba cleans it great. I honestly love it. But I have a brown dog, so dog hair is hidden. The hair that roomba picks up is pretty gross to be honest. And yes...the couple peeks of sunshine yesterday here in WI were pretty great.
Sara - great job on the 6k and cookies - yum.
    Good morning Lana!
I was giftted a sourdough bread book. So I made my sourdough starter and have been making a number of things. Today my blueberry muffins were yummy!

    Good afternoon,

Had my Psychiatry apt by phone - I will make a phone call for next apt - I also will make apt to get COVID vaccine and have neighbor drive me as it is beyond my street driving.

My poor boss get out the kleenex - I got a 100% audit last week (she had to educate me on something) and I am doing so well it is "hurting" her. Party after 5pm at the Cabana Club.

I need 1200 more steps to get my 6K and it will happen.

Sourdough starter, father has one and has had it for a long time - consider pancakes and pizza crust.....

What a day. I had pizza for breakfast and lunch, and potato chips for dinner. All within my calorie goal.

And then all hell broke loose. WTF is going on out there? I expected things to be worse, to be perfectly honest--even given as bad as they are.

Anyway, it was another very dreary day and I had no desire to spend time outside. Let January pass quickly!

Lynn, thanks for the info. I'll look into it.

Sara, good luck with the vaccine. So far, I've known several people who got it--no reactions whatsoever. Not even sore arms.

    Take care, all.
