Wow no one has check in. I think that's a first for me. Usually lots of times @trooworld is here by herself. LOL

Yesterday was first day of carb cycling and I forgot I was carb cycling til almost the end of the day. So it ended up being 270/238 carbs. 10 min stretching. Minimal water

I went to the diabetic clinic this morning. I like the dr. She doesn't like just giving out meds. I did an A1c and will know that tomorrow or the next day. She said she was surprised at how I was first diagnosed as prediabetic in 2011but never actually got the disease. Because I fight like hell not to become my parents or my mil. She sent me to the dietician. She said tell me everything you know about diabetes. I told her and she laughed and said why are you here then. I said it's not the knowledge but the execution. So I told her I just switched my plan and next time I come in I will tell her how much better my numbers are.

@theslightedgeforever Checking in as ordered😁😂. Yesterday was both busy but lazy - I had kid schedules so lots of sitting doing nothing in between manic periods or last minute organisation. Breaks weren’t long enough to do anything substantial but managed to close all my rings with intermittent exercise. Also did my strength but way low on water which is probably bad becomes I have blood tests this morning so am fasting and dehydrated already. Am going to have to sip some this morning cause my veins are hard enough to find on a good day 🙄

Didn’t track yesterday and didn’t eat way too much, but what I did eat was not in the approved list. Should be back in routine today so aiming to track and water. Exercise and strength already done.

All for now, responses later 😊

@Tamevv Sorry to hear about you and your daughter's medical issues. Good job on doing your morning exercise.

@trooworld Thanks for the encouragement - I can def be my own worst critic. Hope the handyman is working out and that you enjoyed the Christmas lights. And happy Daisy's Gotcha Day!

@theslightedgeforever Yeah being disappointed about weight loss can be the worst. That mindset contributed to undoing all my progress multiple times. I'm glad I helped inspire you and that the carb cycling is off to a good start :)

Today DS and I did a 4 mile brisk walk - very happy about that. I used to just only run or walk by myself but it's so great to go with him, see him making progress, have long talks with him, etc. We had a nice trip to an Xmas concert last night - very festive. I told DS on our walk today, when he asked, that the main present I want is weight loss but that can only come from me. But I feel like I'm on the way.

@trooworld Yaaay on making healthy choices yesterday. I thought I checked in last night. I know I saw your doggy and your Santa. So cute. Maybe I started to but then got interrupted by someone and never came back. So weird. I love baklava fingers with pistachios instead instead of walnuts. Cookies and creme baklava is good too. I'm having lentil soup and cornbread for supper tonight. Chili sounds good.

@tamevv Yaay on closing your rings. I have small veins too. Plus I'm usually dehydrated. One day I will conquer that habit. So back to your regularly scheduled program. Don't let two become three. You can do it.

@senoritafloridita You have a great attitude. I'm so glad you can share this journey with your son. It's such a hard one and you being a role model I'm sure helps him. Yaaay on your walk

I lost my earphones so I had to go buy new ones. I exercised yesterday without them and it was so hard. Food pusher brought home cheeseburger and fries for lunch yesterday. I made it work though. Took the bun off and put the meat on top of some leftover salad I had in the fridge. Then entered in all my food. Found out I still had carbs to spare. So I got to eat the bun too separately. It had all the yummy sauce on it. The sandwich was cut in half so I ended up with 4 pieces of “bun”. So it seemed there was more food than really was. Took me longer to eat. I didn’t see or eat the fries
So I stayed within my boundaries and I’m glad only 2 red days this first week. That means 100g of carbs or less.

I don't know last time I updated you on my weight. I've lost 2.2 since Nov 30.

@theslightedgeforever Thanks, yep yesterday was better, but could be better still. Great effort with the hamburger. That is how I usually do dinners now - i fill a bowl with salad and put whatever protein the family is having on top of that. I actually really enjoy it and don’t feel bloated after.

@trooworld sorry I didn’t check in yesterday, I did see your photos tho and the Santa is an awesome idea. I do have a Cricut as well but I could never get it to cut very cleanly and found the design program difficult and time consuming, so it has been packed away for a good while. Great to hear your food is going well, and who can resist a good baklava? Definitely could not pass that up 😁. We used to live near an authentic supplier and now I am a bit of a snob - haven’t had a “good” sample in years.

Todays a long one for me so have had to skip my morning workout which is actually making me feel a bit off. Am about to get down and do some sit-ups and hoping to get a workout in later this afternoon.

Hope it’s a good day all.

Hi everyone, today has been a better one, but I did snack on some gingerbread house at work but stuck to my salad for lunch. Some stuff happened in the afternoon and I came home really agitated. Took son to the bakery and had a cake, and was really tempted to binge on all the sugar I could find but completely out of the blue heard myself kick the boys out of the lounge so I could do a step class. Quite honestly shocked myself. Worked hard and panted through it and added a short strength session for good measure. Yay me 👏

@Tamevv just keep trying. Just keep getting back up. All it takes is one time that sticks.

@trooworld Oh wow, that is definitely a new use for dental floss I've never heard of - glad it worked. Those Santas are so cute, what a thoughtful gift for your coworkers. Daisy looks like she certainly enjoyed her pupcake.

@theslightedgeforever Thanks for your kind words. I'm so grateful that what I'm doing has rubbed off on my son. That's so great that you got to enjoy the cheeseburger with carbs to spare. Yeah, skipping the fries makes such a difference.

I have been avoiding the scale lately and just trying to lose weight without it. But today I got back on for the first time since August. I realized I've gotten back to the point that the scale will help my progress rather than hinder it. And come to find out, I've lost 15 lbs :) And I figure I lost that in 1.5 months since I started NS in late October. I am going to try to not be too emotionally attached to what the scale says....but I am enjoying the happiness today!

@tamevv That's great that you have salad every night. I got burnt out on that when I followed the The Shred diet plan. Same for smoothies. Yaaay on doing some step aerobics when you were stressed and wanting sugar. Those habits are hard to break but sounds like you are doing it. I know what you mean about being a baklava snob. Did you do your sit ups? I need to figure in some core exercises to my plan. They are the ones I hate the most....and do the least.

@trooworld I think three years in a row now, I've had losses for November and December. I think because I come home from my dd's house having gained weight so I'm more determined not to get any fatter. Now to just keep this attitude up year round. Or not gain weight at dd's house. Both? LOL Ouch on the stye. If it doesn't heal up please go to the doctor to make sure it doesn't turn into something more serious. I still have to get yearly eye exams now because of the shingles around my eye.

@abts1234 Welcome to the group. I have bookmarked this thread. Some days I will reply to individuals but if I'm short on time, I just post about any good or bad choices I made for the day. It's really up to you.

Oh wow, I never posted this. Good thing it's still sitting here. Maybe that's what happened to my post the other day with @trooworld doggy and Santa pics.

Food has been OP. 38 min. cardio (hill/sprint program) I was having a hard time getting my heart rate up as quickly as I normally do. I was breathing hard and sweating. My resting heart rate has been at 51 last couple of days

@theslightedgeforever Yes, I did them yesterday but not today……hang on……okay so just did a couple of sets and cleaned my teeth. Might be a late one, I’m just sitting up waiting to see if DH needs a ride so I don’t want to snack while waiting 😊

Morning all, I know I have been MIA and I can't believe how long it's been since I posted. This thing with my back has just thrown a monkey wrench in my plans and in Dec. I am back to tracking and I think the back thing has made me realize that I am not getting any younger and I want to be around for my kids. This time of of year is hard for my emotions as I get older. I realized this year that my mom made Christmas to be Christmas...I don't want my kids to think of Christmas in a negative manner, I want it to be full of Joy. I have found myself eating not to be in pain...but guess what the pain was still there and then I felt worse because I gave into the lies. Today is a new day and I am working on my goals to make them realistic, yet to make me stretch to meet them.

I won't try to respond to all the post I have missed, just trying to be here in the now.. LOL

Morning all, SURPRISE, I am here again today. I have to make this short..baby is waking up and needs changed and fed..LOL. I tracked yesterday, went to the Chiro and he gave me some exercises I can do to help my back and to help keep me moving. I am just going to be happy if I can maintain this holiday season. I would like to lose 1 lb before my birthday...but we will see. I just don't want to gain. I am trying to make better choices and be consistent. My two goals this week.

@tamevv good job on following through on your habit. This is what is so great about this group is that we support and help one another on our journeys.

@trooworld There is more sweets around dd's house because she brings them home. Then I just get less movement altogether because her apt is so small versus my home. Walking from my bedroom to her living is probably 10 steps. lol But I enjoy being with her and then we travel together. I think 51 is too low a resting heart rate. I thought it was supposed to be around 60-70 unless you are an athlete. I'm not an athlete. :D It just keeps lowering. I guess getting more fit? I'm also wondering about one of my bp meds. I just changed it so it could be that. But then I get light headed at times now. But at least the swelling in my feet is gone since I got off that other med. There's always a side effect to deal with. In a way, the company luncheon was a blessing for you. Desserts all gone. Not too much food left. Your book sounded good. Sometimes we all need a little bit of F word in our life.....fruits, fiber, fitness LOL

    @cbabie Welcome back

So far so good with food this week. I went to bookclub last night and still stayed within my carb boundaries. I ate light for lunch. First time I tried something called a Bao. Oh just realized I didn't log a mini samosa. Hope that didn't put me over. lol Checking....nope, still good. I took an autumn dessert and enjoyed every bit of it. Did not even go back for seconds. Exercise was cardio and weights for 55 min. Water, ugh. When I'm busy, I just think about it. Even if I carry it in the car, it just sits there. I'll get there one day and be a water champ.
We discussed Wish You were Here by Jodi Picoult I liked it. The group had mixed thoughts on the plot.

Hi all. Been busy this week moving home. Finally got moved into a two bedroom bungalow. Area is lovely. I miss my old neighbours/friends who lived across the road from me but I'm definitely going to keep visiting. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year!

Hi all, I’m struggling with food 😔. Had a gain which was expected, but it’s still disapointing to have to formally put the numbers in. It’s stress and exhaustion, I’m just drained and trying to finish the year. Work ends on Thursday. I have all the strategies, I just don’t have the energy for them. I’m keeping up the exercise and doing something extra every day as a non-zero, but I’m also craving way too much sugar. On the plus side there is so much around these days that I’m still saying no more often than yes, so that’s a win, but there are other flags popping up for me which I need to keep tabs on or the next month could go very badly.

Forced myself to do a step and strength class today but took it easy - everything just feels heavy. Was enough to close my rings but only just made it. I pretty much avoided everyone all day. I told them this morning that I wasn’t angry and nothing was wrong, I just needed a day to check out. I’m really grateful for them today, and looking forward to a good sleep and hopefully waking up feeling better.

Morning all, It's stinking cold here in AZ..LOL. I did do my exercises that the chiro told me to do. late in the day, my back was sore and then got a little worse, but at least I am not in tears from it like I have been. Today would have been my moms 85th birthday. I still miss her and yet I am glad she is not here as I know life would be hard on her. LOL I pray my kids miss me when I am gone. LOL

@Tamevv I am so sorry you are struggling. Are you getting enough sleep? I know I am not and I know it causes me to overeat and be emotional. LOL. You got this and yea for trying the step and strengthening class. I used to love step class. This is just a season, this too shall pass.

@theslightedgeforever You worry me...my resting is 65, yours is too low and the fact you get light headed? You are the younger one and you need to take care...don't leave me alone with our brother. LOL
I am so glad you get to do a book club. I have thought about it, but I would never get to it. I have been reading the same book for too long. I have had to recheck it out of the library for the 3rd time this week.

@trooworld I am sorry to hear about your eye and I will pray that the meds work. I had to laugh when you said you suddenly found yourself at the drive thru...Isn't that how we feel when we suddenly realize we ate the whole bag of chips LOL. glad to see you have your sense of humor still.

@roz0810 I hope you are happy in your new home. I like a new house in the fact that every thing is clean and organized. A fresh start. I just hate the moving part. How have you been doing with your habits?

@Tamevv I think is a hard one for most of us. Especially this time of year because it seems to be all around us more than normal. Plus extra activities. I was listening to a podcast this week called Christmas Done. All about how to navigate the schedules, tasks, duties, etc. So about two more weeks until the end of the year. How do you see yourself finishing? Some people are okay with maintaining this time of year. Will making that decision give you less stress? I said maintaining. Others say gaining is okay. It all depends on you and how your body reacts to stress and what do you really want. I tend to stress eat so I would be okay maintaining for the next two weeks. That's a different choice than saying I'll eat what I want and then start fresh again January 1. It sounds like you are making some really good choices in other areas. Sometimes a good sleep helps.

@trooworld Yeah, I've done the drive through thing before. I'm really trying to learn to order differently than I normally do. Otherwise I keep this same body. Sometimes I just don't think and order my usual. I'm really trying to change that. I think your 65 bpm sounds normal to me. What did you think about the story line? I thought it was plausible but most people said it couldn't happen. I don't want to give out any spoilers here in case some of them want to read it. I'm glad you figured out your eye problem and I hope it heals without surgery.

@cbabie I just changed my bp medication and probably don't need to be on all of it anymore. I don't know. It's a process trying to figure it out. My heart pill lowers my resting heart rate naturally so also throw that in. You're going to miss these ole brown hands. ;) She never really leaves us though. She'll always be in our head.

Normally Friday is a rest day for me but I was going to exercise since I took off on Tuesday I think.
Did not exercise. Didn't do much of anything. Lazy day. I stayed within my food boundary.

Hi everyone, thanks for the support. I think you all asked about sleep and yes, I am exhausted by evening and sleeping through, but waking up early and struggling to get out of bed. Today I let myself snuggle with DH for a few minutes but got up when the voices in my head started to stress me out, and straight onto the elliptical for my workout. I’m determined to have a better day. This week is my biggest food/celebration wise so need to be in a good headspace 😊

@theslightedgeforever You always seem to do well with food, and I’m envious. My lazy days just revolve around food 😒. I’ll trade you some exercise motivation for some food restraint?? Regarding plans, I’m aiming to stay below 75 for the holiday period (which ends start Feb for us). That was my first proper weight goal and I’m just below it now so would hope to maintain. If I can start work in the 74s I’ll be happy.

@cbabie thanks, “this too shall pass” is something of a mantra for me 😌.

@trooworld Hope your eye is better today. My mum had one a couple of years ago and it cleared up without surgery so fingers crossed. And I’ll join you on the chip thing - I went through a whole bag of what you call “crisps” yesterday. I started well - chose the “healthy” low-everything option and put a portion in a bowl, but by dinner the bag was empty 🤦‍♀️. Plus side tho - I felt too icky for dinner and just had salad with nothing else.

And just to round out the heart rate reports, my resting averages low 60s as well 😊

I’ve just rallied the troops and dragging everyone out to the market this morning. Feels like we all need a change of scenery and it’s a gorgeous morning. Hope you all have/had a good one.

@Tamevv I'm on carb cycling now and it's a bit easier to stay on track than if I just count calories. Plus I'm more determined right now. That makes a lot of difference. If I was really good with food consistently, I wouldn't be about 70 lbs overweight.

@trooworld Now you've got me singing Baby it's cold outside. Good for you for getting a salad and trying to balance out the unhealthy breakfast.

Anybody else out there watch the World Cup final? What a game! So many roller coaster rides of emotions. I really wanted Argentina to win. The good news is that despite sitting the entire game plus OT plus penalty kicks I still got in my exercise despite it being a rest day because I didn't exercise on Saturday. Usually I just say oh well. I was over carbs on Saturday but was good yesterday.

I lost 0.9 lbs since last Monday.

@trooworld Great job on drinking double the water and finishing the audiobook. Oh my goodness, I hope the antibiotic is effective.

@cbabie hope the exercises help your back. Hugs about your mom.

@theslightedgeforever Never heard of a Bao except for Scott Bao, lol. Good job on staying within your carb goals at book club. And congrats on the weight loss.

    @Tamevv Hope you're feeling better.

This week was a good one for working out and the diet despite some challenges, like cake and ice cream for a b-day party on Friday. But at the party my MIL noticed my weight loss - first one to do so. Was nice since I'd been discouraged by the scale that morning. I think I'll wait a month before weighing in again. And of course there will be plenty of diet challenges this Christmas weekend! I'll have a few treats but hopefully won't go overboard, and will track it all.

Hi everyone, quick check in today. Another busy one with more food but I navigated well yesterday and did lots of incidental exercise (doubled my cals burned target) and did a short step class. Feeling worse for wear physically today so no morning session but it is planned to be an active one so should be fine.

Hope it’s a good day for you all 👋

@senoritafloridita A bao is some kind of Asian bun-like thing. Then you fill it with other things you like. Chicken, shredded carrots, there was some kind of sauce. I think it's pronounced bow which rhymes with cow. Isn't it great when people notice your weight loss.

@Tamevv Looks like you had a successful day.

@trooworld Yaaay on your weight loss and being at the lowest weight. That's an achievement. Plus more water. You are doing well.

Food was good yesterday. I did my cardio and weights but didn't get in my stretching so about 78 calories shy of my burned calories goal.
