Hi everyone,
Sorry not doing individual msgs, exhausted again and off to bed. Didn’t do elliptical today but burned enough without it. water is low but food is okay. Last big staff party tomorrow with food galore and I’m going to partake in whatever I fancy 😁. Have been looking forward to it for weeks. Then I’m going to fall in a heap and do absolutely nothing on Friday - although I’ll have to do something cause I don’t want to lose my rings streak 😉
Anyway am off to bed, have a great day everyone. Oh and I love bao buns 😁. I make them at home sometimes - great with any Asian meal leftovers 👍.

@tamevv I love those "do nothing" days. The good news is that I've been doing my food and exercise but the rest of life has been "do nothing" for almost two weeks. Usually everything goes awry. So I'm counting this as progress.
@trooworld It sounds like you do super well on your food. Plus your water. If we can keep up our good habits in the long run, we'll finally hit our goals. Wouldn't it be nice one day to be talking about maintenance.
So yesterday I met my exercise goal. I did just cardio in the morning and then walked back and forth in the living room at night; while watching Emily in Paris to finish out the last of the calories but I did it. Also stayed under my carb goal for the day.
I went to the eye dr just for regular check-up since I had shingles in my eye a couple of years ago. Plus being pre-diabetic off and on for a decade, my other dr wanted him to check for any early signs of diabetic retinopathy. All is good. Thank God. He said only a little dryness is forming in my left eye. Then my eyelids needed a cream he said. They are probably ageing too. LOL So I came home with drops and cream. I hate eyedrops. But no signs of glaucoma or cataracts.0 -
AFternoon all, sorry I didn't make it on yesterday...baby was a total CRAB, cried most of the day. So I went to the Chiro today and he says " you're a little left today"...I said yep it's called a 4 month baby that weighs 200 lbs and cried all day...LOL. I literally got nothing done...He is better today, thank goodness. I have not done my back exercises this week..NOT good, but will some time today. I forgot to WI, so not going to until next Monday. Tracking but went on a sugar binge the night before yesterday.
@trooworld OOOOHHH a book binder...I bet that is fun. I didn't know they made them. yea on the loss, you are doing so well, still praying for you eye to be better.
@Tamevv I hear you on the step class...you know we do what we can and if we tried that is a lot of times more than most do. Glad you are having successes
@theslightedgeforever I just don't ever see my self doing the carb cycling...I think I love them too much..LOL
@senoritafloridita It is ALWAYS nice when someone notices our loss and even better if they notice we gain and don't say anything..LOL. I am so happy for you. This time of year to have someone notice a loss is extremely complimentary.. Great job

Morning all, I wanted to jump on here before all the people here wake up.LOL. I didn't do great with eating yesterday, could have been worse, so I will look at that. Wanted to go for a walk, but can't ever seem to get the two kids on the same schedule. LOL. Work in progress. I think that is how I look at things now...I am not where I was, and I am not where I want to be. I read something on FB last night, a woman who is now looking at her mother who always thought "thin" was good, now she sees due to her mothers health and the people in her mom's assisted living home that "muscle tone" is what we should be going after. Flexibility, endurance...she made me think about my own thinking...I have always looked at the "size" and yet I also knew in my head to work out for my muscles. ...so now to train that side of my brain...LOL
@trooworld I pray your eye is 100% better when you go back on Tuesday. I would have a headache if my eyes were blurry...Although my glasses sometimes makes me wonder how I see with all the scratches..LOL. Just think of all the gifting you could do with your binder and journals, etc...You are so creative and you use it. I keep hearing this thing in my head...IF I don't use it I will lose it..so keep using your gifts.

Hi everyone, did pretty well food wise yesterday and back into the 73s which is nice. People in my head are not being nice though and my sleeping is off despite how tired I am. I’ve been ignoring the symptoms which have been steadily niggling all week (took a Covid test the other day just in case) but am not feeling good this morning. Wont do my exercise as I’ll get enough later I’m sure (going camping which always has lots of walking).
Despite feeling bad - or maybe because I’m so worn down - my head is bad which is making me stressed which I’m sure is making me worse - it’s a viscous cycle and even worrying about the cycle makes it worse!! Honestly my head is my own worst enemy sometimes. I feel like if I can just get this or that sorted I’ll be able to relax, but things always need other external people to agree/confirm etc so I’m waiting to hear and can’t solve it myself. Annoying.
Anyway, I know I just need to ride it out and relax and wverything will settle down and stop feeding off itself. Just need time. Am off to see what’s in the kitchen and plan food for a few days away. Kids have been awesome doing food this week and I am very grateful for that.
Hope you all have a great day 👋0 -
@cbabie No wonder your back hurts if you've been carrying around a 200 lb baby.
I love carbs too which is why I'm doing the cycling part and not just a low carb diet. I get the best of both worlds; enjoying my carbs and getting out of pre-diabetes range. You were talking about muscle tone. Yesterday on Instagram I saw a post where the gal was so proud of her legs and I thought they were too big and out of proportion with the rest of her body. But they were muscular. So really, I guess we all have our own opinion on what we want our bodies to look like. Even when I was thin, I never had thin legs like I wanted. Now I just want a body that doesn't droop or jiggle.
@trooworld Yaaay on your salad and dessert. I went out with family yesterday and took a page out of your book and ordered a salad. I'm learning to make better choices out at restaurants. I need to remember to put in my drops and cream. Still struggling with that. Timing is everything so I don't end up with blurry eyes and then can't read. Now you have me thinking about lasagna. I saw a recipe with zucchini slices. I might do that. It won't be the same but......
I'm glad your eye is getting better.
@Tamevv Yaaay on getting back into the 73s. What one thing can you do for just a moment to "be". Tell yourself for right now I'm going to just........ it can be just 5 minutes. Or 3 minutes. Make others wait on you for a moment. I hope you aren't coming down with something. So many people I know are becoming sick. Soon the holidays will be over and things will hopefully quiet down.
Food and exercise was good last couple of days. Tomorrow I'm having dessert. Just throwing it out there. It's in the plan.

Morning all, I am fighting a battle and I am tired of being in war..LOL. It's Christmas and I feel like my dad being all humbug...Someone said to me that I am just not a happy person. So I guess I will be working on that along with my body. Going to try exercises today..My problem is I want so much out of my life before I die and it seems I can't focus on just one thing....even though I know that's what to do.
@trooworld I am always amazed at the "from scratch" things you guys make...I think if I just had my kitchen how I wanted and no "kids" to have tugging on my "time". I would cook from scratch a lot more. I LOVE making things from scratch.. It kind of makes you in control of what you are eating, kind of like why I wanted a garden and KNOW I will never do one. LOL. When you can I would love to see a picture of your new toy and what you are doing with it.
@Tamevv I think you and I are emotionally in the same timeline. LOL. I think it's great you look inward and also outward to see what is effecting you. Sometimes I just get tunnel vision..
@theslightedgeforever I know you like doing the carb cycling, I am just not that disciplined this time around. Yea I am with you...I like lean long legs...I have short stocky legs..LOL. but look at our parents.
If I don't get to tell everyone before Sunday Please have a great Christmas and enjoy your family, but at least enjoy the ones you live with. I miss the ones I don't have anymore and you can't change once they are gone. LOL me and the baby and baby girl have been watching Christopher the Christmas tree...we watch it at LEAST 4-5 times a day....keeps the baby quiet...he likes it.

Hi all, checking in from the bush. All quiet and peaceful here. I’ve got a good head cold and physically tired, but it’s amazing the difference to inside my head just being away. Looking forward to a nice day with kids and DH and dog and nature for Christmas tomorrow. Hope you all have a lovely day doing whatever you do.

Morning all, It's cold here in AZ, not like my Grandson in Alaska with negative readings. LOL. I tracked yesterday was over my goals, but tracked. I am really trying to focus on my health this year. 2023 has to be a better year. I saw the hospital too many times this year. Trying to change my mindset of all or nothing and remember baby steps = "one giant step for mankind". LOL
@tamevv Sounds like you are going to have a very relaxing Christmas, we all need the refreshing of our minds and bodies...I hope you enjoy every minute of the peacefulness.
@trooworld OMG, I just love your first "notebook" and I do believe that is so YOU... My mom loved anything with glitter and gold..she never understood my navy suit personality..LOL. Thank you so much for posting that picture of both. I will have to look into this..LOL. Yea I don't go with change in plans much either, but I have a granddaughter who just...well you just never know the real plans..LOL. This year I thought we were doing Christmas on Sat too, but my DH says I thought Sunday...seems I was the only one thinking it was Sat...so like you I have one more day to get some things done. LOL
Yes I am very grateful for this group as well. we are small but mighty..Right?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

@theslightedgeforever That's great you ordered salad. I'm supposed to put a warm compress on both of my eyes for 5 minutes once a day for my dry eyes but I never bother. I should because I wake up with really dry eyes and it bothers me. Zucchini lasagna is yummy. I've made it before. Enjoy your dessert and family time! Happy holidays/Merry Christmas to you as well!
@cbabie I'm tired of being in the weight loss war. I want the troops to come home lol. That's not a nice thing for someone to say to you. Thank you, that's really nice of you to say. I love making things from scratch, too. Sure, I'll take a pic here it is. This is the first notebook I made. It's very "me". If you know anything about my style, you know I like glitter lol. So this is very me.I won't point out the mistakes although I see them. I am going to try to make my MIL a notebook today with a lot of flowers on it, that's very "her". I am going to make some pockets for inside the cover. We'll see how it turns out. Merry Christmas, cbabie! I'm grateful for you and the rest of the gals.
@Tamevv I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. I love to get out in nature. Merry Christmas!
Hi all. Our fancy meal last night was really good. I *thought* we were going to my BIL today but when my husband finally decided to text his sister last night, he found out it isn't until Sunday. I hate when they make plans last minute and it happens all the time lol. But that just means I have one more day to try to make another present for my MIL. We already got her an air fryer but I want to make her a notebook. Here is a pic of the first notebook I made, for me, and my Cinch book binding machine requested by cbabie. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!
Water yesterday: 30 oz
My phrase for the year: "Something needs to change…so I will take no crap and eat no crap!
Love it!!!

Morning all. Back home and still sick ☹️.
Okay, just wrote and deleted a long rant full of self pity and wallowing. We will have none of that thank you! So I’m getting up, making a coffee and moving on 😊.
Have a great day!!

Hi All, sorry this is late at night, this is the first I have sat down.. I have had a full couple of days and I didn't track and am just plain tired. LOL. We had a good time at my oldest daughters, food was good, games were fun. There was a few moments of sadness, missing my grandson in Alaska, but you know God is good. All in all, I am glad to had my family together this year..it's the first in about 10 years...
@trooworld that is just plain beautiful. So happy you got $$ and you can get your "supplies". LOL.
Yes baby steps

Morning all, I went off the rail last night. Something happened that totally sent me over the edge and I got up out of bed and ate a piece of PUMPKIN PIE with LOTS of WHIPPED CREAM. I know I have to stop the emotional eating and I am trying to retrain my brain to make me understand the the person who upset me is causing me to hurt myself with this kind of thinking. So I am trying to say NO, this doesn't help with that situation, it only helps that person get what they want and I lose in the end. You know it's the kind of thinking that says If I don't do this out of spite/hurt/anger, what ever emotion you want to call it... we are actually the ones that get the short end of the stick...So I am trying to BE SELFISH and think of ME and the people I love...There is so much in this world that can cause you to derail and I congratulate each one of us when we CHOOSE not to engage in those thoughts that derail us from being healthy. Sorry for the long post, but maybe as we go into the new year some of you also struggle with what I do, so I post. LOL
@trooworld So sorry to hear you had to get tires this time of year. I mean it's no fun any time, but when you spend on things/people you don't normally do in your budget an unexpected expense is not fun. I really am so excited for you and your new machine...You make that creative side of me to want to come out. LOL. Last night my baby girl was trying to "create" something and I just said..You are like my mom, way ahead of what others think and see and when it doesn't work exactly right, you get frustrated...BUT you never give up on what you are trying to create and then eventually it works." So thank you @trooworld for sharing your great ideas. Your dinner sounds yummy!
Oh I am looking out my window and see an Air ballon in the sky and makes me think of my mom...Now who in their right mind would go in an air ballon this time of year. LOL
Cbabie1 -
Hi everyone,
@cbabie I hear you on the night eating, I ate a whole seperate serve of date cake while I was making dessert for DH last night, plus I had the serving we shared later. Not to mention the tastings and what-not from the days cooking adventures 🙄. I didnt even have a decent trigger - just old habits. Will need to try to be a bit more conscious for the rest of the week - we do a big NYE so it’s all on in the kitchen this week - I love sharing this time with the kids and making old favourites so I want to enjoy, but also have to be reasonable. Anyway sorry that became all about me. The point was you are not alone in these struggles - we can get through this together 😊 I like that you highlighted CHOICE - it is definitely a game of control - who has it and who we LET have it.
On a positive note, I very nearly decided to ignore my rings and just not bother yesterday. I was feeling bad and couldn’t breathe well and lazy and tired. Even told DH I didn’t care anymore, and I don’t know what changed but at some point I just put my shoes on and did it. I had to do two sessions and go really slow so I didn’t get short of breath, but I got there. It absolutely will not cancel out the amount of sugar I consumed, but makes me feel like I’m still clinging to at least some of the good habits I formed this year and hopefully will make coming back to the rest a little easier once things settle.
@trooworld Yep, unexpected expenses are always annoying. Your dinner sounds great - think I might do something similar tonight for the others (I am planning a nice beetroot and feta salad for myself 😊).0 -
Morning all, I did okay yesterday, tracked was over a little in my calories and NO exercise.. Took the Christmas stuff down, still have a lot of organizing to do with what the little one got for Christmas from everyone. TODAY, I have already done my back/arm exercises that my Chiro gave me..eating a bowl of shredded wheat minis' while I am typing this. LOL. Already fed the baby, and he slept for a bit, now up moaning...so this will be quick.
@Tamevv I am so glad you got up and did it. Moving slow sometimes is good, because just moving is always a good thing. Yea old habits creep back in no matter what..we just get stronger each time to be more firm in our stand. Enjoy your NYE celebration...it's only once a year.. LOL
@trooworld I hope you have a good day at work and so glad the food was yummy.
What can we do this next coming year to help us succeed in our quest for health as a group!
Cbabie0 -
Hi everyone, got really sidetracked with the holidays but trying to catch up here...I skimmed through and I loved the pictures of pretty notebooks. As a writer, I've had many of them. Sounds like people had some delicious food and got great presents. Today I had another nice NSV - embarassingly I had gotten too big for a Bathrobe of all things, and it's actually back to almost tying around me normally. Really happy about it as I love that bathrobe.2

Hi everyone,
I am officially putting an end to my ring streak today. I have very literally been in the kitchen doing one thing after another back to back since 10o’clock his morning, but just looked at my watch and it says 1 minute of exercise 😒. But I am exhausted. It has been a good day and I’ve enjoyed the activities with kids and pottering on my own, but there is no way I am getting on the elliptical now. So my streak stops at 136 days, but it’s okay, just gives me a good goal to aim for come February 😁.0 -
Morning all, I didn't track yesterday, but I know what I ate and am going to go back and put it on paper. I start out great and then fizzle at the end of the day. I also forgot to take a pill I have to take 2 x a day. I woke up at 3:30 freaking out because I remembered that I got busy when MY WATCH went off and didn't take it..So I took it and now my schedule is all off. UGH. Here is what I learned from this.. I created a habit of taking these 2 pills at 8am and 8pm, I set my alarm on my watch to remind me, I add to that habit to wash my face, etc....so It a habit stacker type thing. Well the baby started his routine a while back of eating at 8 am and 8pm. (more in between). LOL That just meant I had to remember to take my pill after feeding him. I usually have had no issues..but the day yesterday was so chaotic. When I realized I forgot...I freaked and felt strange, emotionally. LESSON: When I build a habit it remains a part of me, emotionally...when it is broken something is triggered inside of me. So if I can do this habit and feel off if I don't do it..I can do that with other things I need to do in my life..
@trooworld Glad you are off after today..enjoy the time and do your crafting..IT relaxes us. LOL. Yea on not going over on the Thai food. You had lots of wins yesterday. GREAT JOB
@tamevv. I am sorry you lost your streak, but yes I agree a new goal..it was probably time to change it up and you can look at that as a plus..I think you have had several wins...one was enjoying what you did yesterday...sometimes we get so focused we forget to enjoy!!!
@senoritafloridita I love that win...what a great win....don't you love that you can SEE the win? Thanks for posting it will give me something to shoot for.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Good luck with your RealID appointment! I need to get that done too but have been putting it off. Great job on having a reasonable portion of Tai food! And thanks on the NSV. Feels great making progress.
@cbabie That's good about learning the habit lesson. And yeah I love seeing the win. Also I've had dreams lately about being at my thinner self. Must mean I really want it enough this time.0 -
Here checking in. Food has been good for all but two days. I went over on Christmas Eve and then on Tuesday. I've been exercising but the time has been reduced. This has been the busiest week ever for me. I attended a webinar last night about setting goals for 2023. So I'm starting to work on that for this next year and then review my 2022 and see what went wrong. I was looking over the past 3 years of data and wondering how to change my results. Because I have the intention. I'm gaining the habits. But still not getting the results I really want. We really think we have all the time in the world. We'll do better tomorrow. If we don't do it this week, we'll do it next week. January will be better than December. 2023 will be better than 2022 and so on and so on.
The first question asked in the webinar was What were your wins in 2022? Write those in the chat. I had to sit there and really think about it. Have I had any wins? One thing it taught me was I need a better way of documenting wins this next year. I have lost 3.3 lbs this month but then I've gained 5.8 lbs since the beginning of the year. Is that a win? This is all while trying to lose weight.
So I have a party to go to tomorrow night and then hopefully I can rest this next week.
How to do a personal end of year review

Hello,
I quit WW a couple months ago. I am back here trying to lose this weight for real. I need help and accountability.1 -
Morning all, I tracked yesterday and even took the two little ones on a walk in the stroller. My back shows it today, but you know I felt better walking than sitting. I was a little over in calories, a lot over in fat grams, but I count it as a win that I tracked.
@trooworld Wow, since I don't travel..LOL I won't be worry about getting my realid yet. I just had to renew my DL so who knows what will happen when I decide to get the realid for travel. So glad you got to enjoy some real quiet time and relax. prayers to you SIL and her surgery. I love the Idea for a NSV journal...I might have to add that to my list. LOL
@MrsFoshay Welcome aboard, I hope you have had a good Christmas and now we are all in the same boat trying to get healthy. I love being in this group as they encourage you, but they also will help focus you on what you are trying to get done health wise. We are small, but that's also what I like about this group.
@theslightedgeforever I am not sure I had any wins my weight is still the same as when I started 2022, but I guess I will say that the win is that I am more focused on getting my health and not a number. The number is good, but if that's all it is, it won't last.
Cbabie0 -
Hi everyone, just checking in, things are good and today is my foodie day which I’m looking forward to. Haven’t been tracking but am really pleased to be maintaining. Gives me hope for longer term possibilities. Exercise has been just incidentals - no focussed sessions or classes for a while but will get back to that next week hopefully. Am enjoying the break and just doing family things. Hope everyone is doing well. 👋0
-
Morning all, I can't believe this is the last day of 2022, and yet I am glad.. I can't say as this year has brought the things I want most in life. However, I am taking time to be grateful for the fact that I still have my home, all of my family is safe, food in our pantry, gas in our car, a baby girl that wakes up and says good morning mommy...how can you not smile at that and a baby boy whose first thing he does is grin so big at you when you go to pick him up. I am grateful that I can drive, I don't live in the snow..LOL I could go on. I tracked yesterday but it was a nasty food day..over in my calories by 500 and I didn't walk or move other than in my home.
@trooworld Sorry you didn't get to relax or craft, you night sounds fun and relaxing. We will be home, but not even sure if we will be staying up to watch the new year come in...the fireworks in my neighborhood, scare the dogs so much..
@Tamevv Glad you are enjoying your foodie day. you have maintained and that is a plus..your mindset is a good one. I expect 2023 will bring more insight and possibilities than last year and we all will be more healthier at the end of 2023 than we are at the end of this year. Family things are good!!
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Any loss in December is definitely a win. Sorry about the RealID wait for nothing. I finally got mine. What word did you choose for this next year?
@MrsFoshay Welcome to the group! What are some goals you have made for this next 3 months?
@cbabie You did have a win this year if you didn't gain any weight. I didn't think I had any wins either until I really started thinking about it. It also helped that I had done an After Action Review for 2021. So I looked at what I accomplished in 2021 and then thought about 2022. Here are mine:- BP: Avg was 126 for the year and now 113/77 for past 2 weeks. Last year was 155 avg
- 33% finished of the upstairs upgrade
- Checked off some items on my bucket list. Went to visit London and Scotland plus Vegas, L.A., Phoenix and San Diego
- Went to the gym regularly while visiting dd.
- Becoming consistent again with exercise in the mornings.
- Ankle stiffness much improved. Knee range of motion/pain is much better with regular stretching.
- Becoming more consistent on weekly reviews than past year
- I've documented 12 cities in my vacation file
@Tamevv That's good that you are maintaining right now while you take a little pause. Next week you can hit the ground running and begin on the next part of your journey.
I was looking at last year's data. I do really well usually October-December and then start to fade in January-March. lol I think this is third year now. Because I'm really good at data tracking between my fitbit, MFP, and journaling I can see a couple of things that went wrong in January. I'm just going to take it month by month and learn the lessons and try to do better. First 2 weeks of January were good. I even had my sil come visit during that time which is lots of stress and food. But I persevered and still lost weight. She left and I spent the next 2 weeks de-stressing and hibernating. I still continued my exercise and food and was successful with them. But my overall movement was less where I basically just sat in a chair and read. I only hit my step goal 2 days per week for both of those weeks. Basically maintained both of those weeks too. I only journaled 2 days a week for both of those weeks. I was totally out of my routine. While it was a good month for weight loss because of the beginning, it set the stage for a bad month in February. Lesson learned for Jan 2023. Keep journaling. Keep hitting my step goal each day. Keep focused.0 -
Hope everyone has a wonderful 2023!0 -
@trooworld It would be nice to actually do more than analyze my journey. HA But I have all my goals laid out and broken down. All I can do is set out to reach them. That's a great phrase this year. I love your glasses. I wish my hubby would do stuff like that. He celebrates by sleeping. LOL I celebrate by watching the ball drop and then singing New York New York.
Yesterday I went over on my carbs because I thought it would be a good idea to eat a snack bag of crackers while waiting for midnight. Exercise was good. 76 min of cardio/weights/stretching0 -
Well Year ended on a nice note but yesterday started feeling sick. Took covid rapid test today. It’s positive. Thought I just may make it through this pandemic unscathed. Nope!0
