    Im back after having hip replacement surgery 3 months ago. My goal will be to ride my stationary recumbent bike 100 miles in the month of August.

    Aug 13 - 408 km cycling (1485 min) ... no, that's not a typo. :grin: My husband and I rode a 400 km randonnee starting at 7 am on Saturday 13 August and finishing 24 hours and 45 minutes later. I have the story almost ready to post to my blog, but essentially ...

    We've been training for this for the past two months and chose this particular one because it fit in our schedules and was relatively flat. We started strongly, but at the 200 km point, I broke a tooth (the tooth was in questionable condition to begin with) which made the remaining 200 km a little more challenging than I had hoped. Breathing through my mouth was painful, so I was reduced to breathing through my nose. And eating was painful, so I ran rather low on energy. I was hoping to finish within 24 hours, but I guess an extra 45 minutes wasn't too bad. :)
    We rolled into the start location at 7:45 am on Sunday.


    Aug 15 - 0.5 km walking (7 min) ... airport.

    Aug 16 - 3 km walking (35 min) ... to the beach and back to stretch things out.

    350 + cals: 9 out of 17 days (50 towards my 100 total target)
    Atleast 30 mins: 6
    Rest/lazy: 2

    HALF WAY TO MY '350 cals plus burn' target..... Weeeeeehhhhh. (A lot has been on my bike after all!) Not bad for a girl iN recovery from Chronic Fatigue....

    I am certainly fitter from all my cycling in France Machka but I will leave the mega-distance trips to you. Very impressive stuff. Taking of which have you been watching the cycling in the Olympics?

    I started doing events like this back in 2001, and met my husband on a 1200K in France in 2003. We haven't done much of it lately so it's good to get back into it again.

    I have been watching as much of the Olympics as I can, and it actually helped. I was terribly nervous on the few days before the event, but then I thought about the athletes who have to perform in front of huge audiences plus everyone watching on TV, and I thought about how nervous they must be. And meanwhile, I would just be quietly doing my thing without an audience ... and I felt better. :)
