10min z2
5 min z1
Going to try it on my circuit around town and not worry about my distance, since I'll be going SLOW in those zi portions. This will be Tuesday, so I'll have something to report then.0 -
@BeeerRunner - great that you were cleared to run. I am still catching up but hopefully it went well!
@Stoshew71 - awesome HM! Great pictures as well!
I ran Saturday but had no time to post, had to rush home right afterwards. Took students to a programming competition and it was all day. When they were competing I could have gone inside and graded and/or posted but I just needed a break. There was a Veteran's Day parade right outside the University (Stetson) and it was so relaxing just watching it. Lots of very old veterans, all the way up to young ones. There was also such an adorable group of dogs that are trained for veterans. They were so proud walking in the parade!
Biking today - beautiful morning.

Easy 4 mile recovery run in 40:28 (10:07 pace) on the hilly neighborhood route. I'm starting to think that I set my November goal of 70 miles way too low seeing as I'm 74% to goal and we're not even halfway through the month yet. Oh well, I really wasn't sure what to set it at since it's my first monthly challenge and I wasn't sure what my weekly mileage was going to look like. I'm not sure if I'll hit 100 miles, but it would be nice.1 -
@Orphia Wow, way to go running a HM in the rain!
@Stoshew71 Great race report. I wish I could eat pop tarts and a doughnut as my pre-race fuel lol! For the most part, I know what my stomach can handle pre-long run/race and sadly, I don't think it would be very happy with me haha
@davepete57 Congrats on a PR!

Finally a chance to look in here, after a really busy week.
A friend was in town for a conference, and since he had trouble finding a hotel at the last minute, I offered him to sleep on my couch. We hadn't met in person for almost a year, so we spent the evenings talking until late at night. Which was nice, but by the end of the week, we were both really sleep deprived... I still managed to sneak out for a few short runs (if you can call "back in an hour, here's the wifi password, have fun!" sneaking ).
Other times I might have felt like those runs were too short. Not right now - the weather was horrible all week. Snow in the morning, and during the day the temperatures rose just enough (like ~2°C/35F) that it turned into freezing rain. And A LOT of rain!
Today it finally warmed up to 8C/45F, with just a faint drizzel during the first half of my run. The recovery plan I'm following only called for a "45-75 min run", but I was so excited about the improved weather, I went a little further.
08.11.2016 6.0 km
09.11.2016 6.4 km
10.11.2016 4.8 km
12.11.2016 7.0 km
13.11.2016 14.0 km

louubelle16 wrote: »So, I had a new frustration today, as my watch battery died en route Fortunately, I was on the way home by then and ran the same way home as I went, so it was easy to work out how far I had been. More annoyingly, by my calculations, I have only done 25 miles since the last charge, and although that's over 8 days and it is on to a certain degree the rest of the time, I have a horrible thought that it might not make it through my marathon next year, as I could be looking at a 4:30-5:00 time for that.

Spent the morning doing run-related things but not running. A friend and I volunteered at a local Girls on the Run/Let Me Run 5k event and manned the one and only water table. And we only had one working spigot for the 5-gallon water jugs, so it was very stressful when we ran out of pre-filled cups. But I don't think the kids minded having to stop and wait in line for water (at least not a single one complained!)
After the race volunteering was over, same friend and I went to a local orchard to order Thanksgiving pies and have cider & cider donuts, so I pushed my run to about 2 pm to let the donut digest. Great run; a bit too fast which seems to be a consistent problem during afternoon taper runs. My legs are fresh and my body is all fueled up from the day, so even though I feel like I'm slogging, I'm going at or just below marathon pace. Oh boy.
Fall Race Season & Next Year:

Rest day here. Signed up for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. This will be my only race between now and possibly my Marathon. I'm Hoping that with it being a cutback week then, and the time I've put into really working on my running, I can PR, though, since I haven't done much speedwork since September, we'll have to see if my legs remember how to go fast!0

@Stoshew71 -great job on your half. Always good going into a full with confidence!0 -
As my left interior ankle wasn't back to 100%, I took off 3 running days (biked 60 miles Friday, walked 10 yesterday) so I'd be good for today. Plan is to race the 10k (hoping to squeak under the 38 min mark), fuel up at the finish, walk 2.5 miles to the marathon/half marathon split point at the stratosphere, then pace my buddy for miles 11-26 of the marathon as it gets pretty quiet up in that area.
Got an appropriate name on my bib for today as well.
@HonuNui -just messaged you for a post race beer (Carnegie deli entrance in Mirage at 11pm), but can also sync up tomorrow after 1pm.

5.4 miles today. Was aiming for around a five miler to get me back on track but as I haven't run much lately it was probably three miles further than it should've been!!
A bit of a grumble in the glute/hamstring i noticed in my walk warm up. Right leg this time. I get the feeling my new series of injuries after my shin splints event in Barcelona is going to keep popping up and work it's way up my body on either side. I am never dancing on a marble floor again.
Took it very slow, i mean seriously slow, but still not slow enough for zone 2. A great morning for it, with lots of people out running. Had to race the last distance back home as needed to get back, jump in the shower and head to a dance(shag) workshop. Didn't have time for lunch but had wisely already pulled out of the second session of the workshop, so spent the rest of the day lounging on the sofa, with a quick bit of housework.
Pleased to be back on track with the running, less pleased with this new injury thing. Am going to find my self somewhere for a sports massage and make that a regular thing I think.1 -
My last 2 posts have been held for review - No answer from MFP as to why they were held. I suspect I have a date or run data that match's up to some spam bot address or the link to the Bling Report came up funky?????
So change my date format and here goes nothing.
I did post some congrats for PB's, race results and general Good Stuff friends. Will just Tip my hat to everyone.
November Running 140km Goal 160km Stretch

November 5: 7 Peaks & 7 Pubs Challenge Run as posted in Weekend Bling Report. I completed 4 of 7 hills, approximately 26km, 3:06:16.
November 12: 12km through the rolling hills North of town along the top edge of the riverbank. North facing slopes were frozen, South slopes were dry, the top of the hills were muddy slogs about 1 km out from the end my legs said that's enough Tough Mudding and I had to walk it in. Still a great day as it was just above freezing and we usually are snowed out of the trails by this time of year. One of my running club friends has a picture from 4 years ago Cross Country skiing in Knee Deep snow.
November 13: 5 km A slow slog - definitely should have declared it a rest day after yesterdays Tough Mudder.

So it works with no Ticker and no Monthly run data. Added the Ticker back
It works with the Ticker, added back the Weekend Bling Report link.
It must be something in my monthly Run Data that looks funky to the auto filters0 -

In any case, sounds like you had some awesome challenging runs in the past couple days!

Update on run and hamstring issue: I was so excited to run on Saturday, I woke up super early, and when I got out the door, I was going way too fast. It was almost like a race, but a notch lower. LOL! The run went really well. I focused on kicking off using my glutes and trying to keep my breathing in check. I didn’t feel any pain in my hamstring while I was running, so that was very promising. However, as soon as I hit the 3 mile mark and changed from a run to a walk to cool down, my hamstring felt very tender. That was definitely a bummer. It was somewhat tender the rest of the day, but it felt much better today. Since I didn’t have pain while actually running yesterday, I’m going to try again in the morning before my PT appointment. Hoping I don't have the tenderness tomorrow.
11/1: Body Pump, 20 minutes on Stationary Bike (5.3 miles), and 1 mile on Dreadmill
11/2: 45 minutes on Elliptical, substituted for 5 miles of running
11/3: Rest Day
11/4: 30 minutes on Elliptical, substituted for 3 mile run
11/5: 1 hour 45 minutes on Elliptical, substituted for 11 mile run
11/6: 3.2 miles: Dallas Marathon Social Run
11/7: 45 minutes on Elliptical, substituted for 5 mile run
11/8: Body Pump, 15 minutes on Stationary Bike
11/9: 54 minutes on elliptical, substituted for 6 mile run
11/10: Body Pump and 27 minutes on elliptical, substituted for 3 mile run
11/11: Rest Day
11/12: 3 mile run, 1:20:00 on Elliptical, substituted for 8 mile run, runners yoga
11/13: 54 minutes on Elliptical, substituted for 6 mile pace run
Goal is to keep up with marathon training on elliptical until I can run again. However, I’m doing the elliptical based on average time to run scheduled mileage.

@kristinegift Good luck in the last week of your taper before your marathon. I'm so excited for you, and can't wait to hear how it goes.
@lissadecker Hope you recover and feel better soon.

Starting mileage was at 2.5-3 miles per day, and I have upped that to about 5! Goal for daily mileage is about 6 miles. Very happy with myself today, because I was finally able to have a 10 mile long run. Didn't mean it was easy. I was cursing around the 8th mile. Haha. Half marathon is the next goal! Great progress everyone!4

Over pushed my first mile (5:53) at the 10k tonight, felt it by mile 3 as I crossed the 5k mark in 19.5 min, decided to save my legs for pacing my buddy so I dropped to my marathon pace and finished about 1.5 minutes off my 10k PR in 41:40. Still waiting for the results but I think I finished around 14th out of about 5000 runners.
Otherwise, afterwards I grabbed some food, ran the 2 miles back to my hotel at the 11 mile mark, dropped off my medal, then met up and paced my buddy to a sub-5 marathon for 14 miles.
Feeling a bit sore, but showered and recovering. Hope to sync up with @HonuNui at some point later this evening or tomorrow.

Hey,
Finally back running after a 3 week injury break from a calf strain, starting out very slow doing 1 min intervals running then 1 min walking, started feeling it a little towards the end so will keep it slow on the return and keep up the warm up and cool downs that I used to neglect before. I'm putting in a tentative 15 miles for this month depending on the calf.
@Ohhim bit behind the schedule but congratulations on the Ironman the whole thing sounds slightly insane to me but that might be down to my incompetence on a bike.
@Stoshew71 Congrats on your PR for the half
@ariceroni glad to see you back and pain free, think I'll be doing similar intervals to you just not quite at your speed.4 -
Supposed to be 5k easy this morning, but my GPS didn't lock on at the start - ended up logging 5.1k but was probably nearer 5.5k. I overslept last night so I didn't warm up - just had some water (not enough) and went out for run so felt sluggish. Wasn't helped by the constant drizzle (though was a pleasant 8C) and I was constantly annoyed at my phone giving me confusing distance/pace prompts due to GPS issue. Depending how I feel later I may go out for a tempo run this evening as well, but we'll see.
2-Nov: 13.1k - 3 laps of hilly route.
4-Nov: 6.26k - Planned 11k easy, but cut short as very stiff/tired.
7-Nov: 11.25k easy.
9-Nov: 6k fast
12-Nov: 18k - longest run to date. Very wet.
14-Nov: 5.1k easy. Wet and sluggish (no warm-up)1 -

Just slow steady miles for me. Got out slightly later than I meant to so had to cut off a mile. But looking past at the miles this month I see that has happened many times! I like 5 miles on a work day and almost all of them have been 4.1. Oh well. I'll get it back.
