Sat/Sun/Mon should be down days so I'll definitely be hitting the treadmill. Unless I convince hubby to let me go buy a running jacket and venture onto the nearby trails It's supposed to snow tomorrow.
There's snow coming on Christmas and could be a lot, based on thr forecast. Not sure how much Rochester is getting, but be ready. Hope thr test gets you all some good news
They were saying 3-5 inches Friday but now shows 1-3 so we'll see. We're mostly riding a shuttle and not driving. Sunday shows ice transitioning to rain. No shuttle on weekends though.0 -

I just picked up a very light Columbia windbreaker / rain jacket at Dicks Sporting Goods. It's vented in the back, but doesnt have pit zips. I was on a budget and it was only $32 compared with other jackets for running that were $80 - $100+. Anyway, it's worked very well...took it out on a cold rainy day, and it kept me dry. It also has a hood that can be stowed away and I pulled it over a baseball cap so my face stayed dry too. I also used this jacket as a an outer layer in the cold weather, and it definitely kept me warm from the -2 windchill I ran in on Sunday.
I have one too! I love it. I found mine last year at tj maxx. It is great for misty - light rain conditions. @BEERRUNNER I think I got mine for about 12$
On the cheap note- I got a non running rain jacket for 30-50$. It works great. And I can wear it even if I'm not running. (Because I get attached to my running gear and wanna wear it all the time) . I have a small and 99% of the time wear a medium. I'd go with a medium, if I planned on layering much under it. But the small is fine with 2 thin layers. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/magellan-outdoors-womens-packable-rain-jacket

See @BEERRUNNER . Haha! I'm so glad my running gear still fits.. I swear I'm just gonna have to suck it up and run!

Ok @Elise4270 These pics are from last weekend. Pic on the left was last Saturday...in the 60's...sporting one of my fave running tanks that has a pic of Darth and says, "The force runs with me."
Pic on the right is all my layers for a -2 windchill, including my new Columbia jacket.
You know first hand about the Texas weather. If you don't like it, just wait a few days because it will change. (Except in the summer when it's hot, hotter, and hotter than Hell.) Lol!
Oh yeah...and excuse my crazy morning run hair. Lol!3 -
@Elise4270 I'm sadly limited on running gear at the moment! I actually bought a cheap outfit at Walmart today because I want to run Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon if possible! I can't believe they had capris and short sleeve top - perfect for the sweltering hotel fitness center. I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow of my snazzy Walmart get-up.2

I'm not entirely sure that it keeps me "dry" when I'm running, 'cause I sweat like a pig, regardless of the outside temp, but I wore it a couple times in the last week when it was various degrees of cold and rainy, and I felt comfortable, and didn't feel like was soaked to the bone. Left-handed compliment good enough?0 -

Walmart works! Like I posted- I hit tj maxx and try to buy stuff out of season on clearance. Oiselle online is the only retail price I'll do.0 -

Okay, so I don't run much in this jacket; but I do wear the hat to run when it's cold enough.

Update: 34.1/50 miles completed so far.
I'm battling a cold that's basically the plague right now but I think I can hang in there and get to my goal this month.1 -

Ok - here are the fun kind of Christmasy running pants I wore to the gym tonight along with my new New Balance Vazee running shoes. I had to wear them as my regular gym shoes are multi-colored and wouldn't go at all with the pants.

Strike a pose?
Haha, I've recently discovered the timer setting on my iPhone 7.

I have had a stomach virus the last couple of days (the vomiting kind). I am hoping to be able to run a little even if it is on the treadmill.
You all look great in your running jackets☺
@greenolivetree: Isn't the world's largest mall in Minnesota somewhere?0 -
@9voice9 and @BeeerRunner Thanks for the suggestions. I can't get either of your recommendations here in the UK, but it's good to know that there are some solutions out there. I just need to find them!
@shanaber Think I will have a serious look at the Nike one, it's not stupidly expensive either. Thank you0 -

Hope you feel better, that's yucky
Yes, the Mall of America isn't far. We were about to go last time we were here (7 years ago) but hubby just couldn't tolerate it healthwise. This time with winter weather I doubt we'll go far all weekend. But one day! They do have one of those theaters here with recliners. We don't have that at home.0 -
My calves are sore. Does stair climbing do that? I climbed 7 floors yesterday just to see how far I could go. My heart was pounding and I was starting to sweat so I turned back. Lol! Nothing like stairs to make you feel completely out of shape. I have no stairs anywhere at home.2

Feels like ages since I did a long run. I did miss one but with this week's coming at the end of the week it means it's been 18 days. Anyway, as my hill run this week was slightly shorter and less hilly than I would normally do, (it was same day as PT session and didn't want to tire myself out), I decided to throw some hills into today's long run. The plan was to do 24k (which would be a distance pr) and two climbs of the hill which I estimated would total around 200-250m climbing in total.
Anyway, I set out and felt good and had to work hard in the first few kilometres to keep my pace slow, but settled into a decent rhythm and my pace was pretty good throughout my run. The only problem today was temperature control - at 6-8C it was fairly warm, but there was a cold wind so depending on whether it was tail, cross or head and how exposed I was meant the difference in temperature was quite marked. I had single layer - thin tights, long sleeve top and thin gloves and alternated between feeling like I was close to overheating to getting really cold. (Not that you need to know, but my nipples were especially cold at times!)
Otherwise the run was really good. The route was slightly longer than I estimated - stopped at 25.7k in the end which left me about a mile cool-down walk back home. It also turned out to be more climbing than I estimated - totalling 330m (298m descending). All in all really pleased with today's run, not least because I can bank some calories for Sunday!!

Just jumping back in as I catch up with the posts. I'm about 7 pages behind. I'll get caught up on myself after I get caught up on all you fine folks.
@kristinegift, @MNLittleFinn, @katharmonic love the winter photos!
@louubelle16 congrats on your HM! A smashing time, too! That sounds like quit a setup, with all those races, and all those different paces running repeatedly on the same loop. It forces you to have the self discipline to run your race at your pace. Spectacular job!NikolaosKey wrote: »How do you guys can run with such awful weather??
@midwesterner85 you'll have to tell us how that Osprey works when you get a chance to use it. I hear those are great packs and light weight. My Scott Jurek Ultimate Direction pack arrived a couple of weeks ago but I can't use it until I find where I hid it. I'd like to use it this weekend.
@orphia great pics! A nice contrast to the weather we're having.
@mobycarp, great race, even for your slowest time! Sounds like a fun race, fun conditions (if you're not after a PR) and I love the trophies. You wear the antlers well!
@OSUbuckeye906 what kind of shoes did you order?
@_nikkiwolf_ that trail photo is awesome! I would love to run that.
@shanaber nice photo of you and @mom3over40! Were they handing those emergency blankets out BEFORE the race or did you bring your own? That is an awesome view!
@skippygirlsmom I did have quite a snotcicle going but i carefully removed it before I took the picture since I sent it to a couple of non-runners.
That's it for now. 5 more pages to go to catch up!

My Total/December: 78.75 miles
Mike's Total: 49.25 miles
Mike wasn't feeling so hot this morning so we just did a short run. It wasn't raining, but it was "rainy" if you know what I mean. Wet from earlier rains and the wind blowing water off the trees and leaves so it feels a bit like it is raining even though it is not. I actually rather enjoyed it. The temp was around 62F. I like a rainy day every once in a while.
@BeeerRunner & @Elise4270 I am going to have to check out those Columbia windbreakers. I need a good jacket for running in the rain and I don't want to spend a lot because I still have about 60 pounds to lose which means, hopefully, it won't last me very long. Thanks for sharing!
@Orphia Great pic!
Have a fabulous rest of the day everyone!

Real goal, get into the swing of Marathon training, and get used to doing 3 days a week of some strength/core while running 35+ MPW
Today's notes: Schedule was supposed to be 10 miles, so I got a long run in before spending time with family over the long Holiday weekend. Well, in a sign I'm maturing as a runner, I decided to cut my run short. 6.27 isn't even my longest run of the week, but with a head/chest cold and a 240 mile drive coming up this evening, it was the right thing to do. I'm already over my monthly goal by more than 20 miles, and there's always New years eve for a good long run.0 -

A couple of days of no running - but I did cross-country ski to the point of exhaustion! I have never done it before and I took a lesson on Tuesday and ended up skiing for about 2.5 hrs. Then I went back out on Wednesday to another XC ski place (I was in Lake Placid) and skied for another 2 hours or so. Day 2 was a bit tougher course, especially when I made a mistake and went on the wrong trail (what I like to call the Terror Trail) and I fell all over the place. I have some spectacular bruising to show for it. But it was fun and I think I'm hooked. Hoping to get my own skis after the holidays.
So, today I'm back home and took Stella out for a run. The weather was sunny and quite a bit warmer, although the wind off the lake was chilly. Nice to get that run in. Tomorrow should be my long run but the weather forecast is for rain and the conditions on the trail where we meet are probably not going to be good. I'll have to see if I want to suck it up and be miserable but done, or put it off until later.
Happy Friday everyone.1
