Hi everyone, I am up for the 30 pound goal for sure! This was my first week and so far I've lost nothing on the scale but feel good (although a bit frustrated). Any tips for me?
Hi!
Tip #1: Get a profile picture. Lose the grey ghost!

Know what the Appropriate calorie target is for you to eat.
Log meticulously. Weigh all non-liquid foods to the gram with a food scale.

Things that have helped me:- Track everything you eat.
- Drink lots of no (or low) calorie liquids ~ my personal goal is 64 ounces of water.
- Plan meals for the upcoming week (or few days)
- Let yourself cheat now and again, but be prepared to make up for it.
- Enjoy, IN MODERATION, your favorite treat (chocolate, wine, cookies, etc.) and include it in your daily tracking.
Weigh weekly, and don't get discouraged if the scale doesn't budge. Water retention and muscle gain/fat loss are temporary, and you'll see results in future weeks.
Granted, I'm only finishing up my first month, but when I follow my advice I'm successful

Well, that's disappointing. Although 1.9 pounds lost in a week is definitely nice weight loss, I also weigh 1.4 pounds MORE today than I weighed yesterday. I guess I had more to eat than I thought yesterday. Damn you, delicious posole!
But still. I was hoping to lose 20 pounds this first month. I didn't quite make it, but I was close! If I can lose 10 pounds a month from now on, I'll be very happy! I can still be swimsuit ready by the summer.
Which is a good thing, because my husband brought home a new (for him) boat yesterday. It's not a going-out-and-having-fun boat, it's a fishing boat (called a c-dory, for those who know about boats). My husband used to be an avid fisherman before we met, and he's been wanting to get back in to it. I'm sure it will mostly be him on the boat, but there will be many a weekend this summer when the whole family is on the water-- my son and my husband fishing, and me and my daughter lounging in the sun while reading!
Have a great week everyone!4 -

Can I join, and what do I have to do? Like should I post all my weigh-ins up to now from the time this started? Or just register the short, SW, CW, and GW and then the consecutive weigh-in from now on, or how does this work? I've always had hard time following these forum posts.1

Welcome! Post whatever suits you, your SW will cover your loss up til now but if you want to break it down, go for it!1 -
I'm 36 years old, hypothyroid, trying to get down 30lb by June in prep for a lengthy overnight hike. I anticipate my pack will be about 30lb hence the goal #.

January is in the books. For 99.9% of 2017 I have been paleo clean, if there is such a thing? Since the New Year I’ve eliminated extra/hidden sugar, dairy and gluten from my diet. My hope is to make 2017 the healthiest year of this decade (2010-2020) of my life. Although diet is the center point of the healthy choices to make this a healthy year, other choices have been implemented to make changes towards a healthier lifestyle.
My Fitness Pa l is one of the changes I made to pursue positive changes. I’ve already received the support I anticipated from MFP. Specifically the exercise/diet diary and the motivation from the community have been instrumental in the positive health/fitness outcomes I have achieved this month.
So far I’ve lost a bowling ball’s worth of weight (15.4 pounds) and dropped about 10 beats from my average blood pressure at the end of last year. Although I don’t have any numbers to quantify my feelings, I have to say I feel good for the first time in years. Also I decided to undergo surgery on my right shoulder to regain full use of my right arm. Even though the surgery setback some exercise/weight loss goals, I’ve still made progress on both of those fronts this month.
In short – MFP is good and good for you. It has helped me make, meet and exceed goals. Thanks to all my friends on MFP! I look forward to hearing the progress you’ve made and suggestions you have to best utilize MFP.
