Looking for friends who don't eat "clean" and healthy

I eat clean in that I follow the five second rule
I've lost about 135 lb through just eating what I liked, but in predetermined amounts.12 -
I eat a lot of healthy foods since it logically keeps the calorie count down and is good for the body. But I also don't cut anything out. If I have a craving, I go for it. I just try not to go crazy with it. Usually on the weekend, I overdo it with the wine, but I mostly fit it into my calorie count! I have chocolate almost every day! A few days ago, I had a bag of chips with lunch (small bag), but still stayed within my calorie goals. I enjoy food, and if I restrict myself too much, I know I'll binge. We've gotta enjoy life, right!

I totally don't. I stay under my calorie goal for the day. Today I had popcorn and wine after dinner. I make cookies and am learning how to limit my eating to one or two a day. Saturday I had lots of pizza and beer after a 2 hour workout.2

Traitor!
No, poutine isn't for everyone, or for all the time.
But when you're craving it (usually wee morning hours after a bit of drinking) and you get good poutine it's the best. Salty fatty crunchy saucy squeaky melty goodness.0 -
(I tried to like kale chips. I really did. Figured they might be a good low-cal snack, but no. Those things are disgusting!)
Those pea chip things are pretty good though.
But the worst is seaweed. It's like fishy cellophane. I could barely get it to my mouth the smell was so strong.
Also, can we talk about movie theatre popcorn for a second? With butter.

What is deemed healthy today is tomorrows evil. I just eat to live and don't worry about what other people say.3

Likewise, I eat whatever fits my macronutrient requirements for the day. The bulk of my diet is lean meats, vegetables. egg whites and rice but I don't restrict myself to these things.2 -

Well I don't really drink much alcohol but I totally agree with this sentiment. If it fits within calorie goal it's good with me. I eat chips, soda, pasta, sti-fry, takeout, healthy and unhealthy.4 -
It took me a while but I've read every single comment on this post and nothing has changed my mind - you are all still my people.
I love the common sense approach that all of you are taking. Thank you for the entertaining reads10 -

I haven't tried the pea chips yet, but someone else recommended them too so perhaps I'll give them a go! (I didn't mind "crispy seaweed", but I haven't tried that stuff you're supposed to wrap around rice in bentos - nori, is it? That looks like a piece of seaweed-paper...)
As for popcorn - our tiny local cinema makes buttered popcorn so good that people will go there just to buy a bag of it, not to see a movie!

It sounds delicious to me. lol0 -
Hi ! Can you add me ? I eat cheese everday and chocolate and ice cream as often a I can fit it in my calories2

I definitely don't eat clean. I do watch what I eat but I don't care how many calories are in things. I have pizza once a week and eat as much as I want. Chase it down with garlic knots and a house salad. As long as things are in moderation I see no harm in it. I mean right now is Girl Scout Cookie season, you telling me you're gonna resist thin mints?4

Looks like a screaming majority here simply eat what they want as long as it fits into the calorie profile.
Add me to the group of renegades and malnutritionists.
I'll eat my share of salads and broccoli, but have no problem saving up some calories for that
Candy bar for a snack.
I think we all watch to get a good mix of things but I simply don't watch carbs, fats, protein blah blah. If you saw my
"menu" you might be horrified. No yogurt, fish, cous cous, pine nuts, cottage cheese....I didn't eat it before and am not starting now. I will
easily have Cocoa Puffs for breakfast if I want.
If I punish myself with no rewards and food I dislike I will never maintain the plan. I'm relearning quantity control
and avoiding stuff that's over the limit.

I love to eat dirty3

I've had 30 servings of Easy Mac in 15 days. And don't care what anyone eats.9

I'm vegetarian. And I have a cookbook that I'm going through with a goal to trying every single recipe at least once. (I do skip around a bit if I'm looking for a specific course, but every week, I know what recipe is 'next'.) Currently just finishing up the pasta pages in the Asian noodles section. I had 'Singapore noodles with tempeh' tonight. Next up will be a Korean noodle stir-fry.
Generally, I'm of the "Let's be real: if I don't get to have treats, I'm not going to stick with the plan for long" school. So, for example, Sabbath is usually a day for indulging a bit. Friday night and Saturday lunch are large. I stay on-track by 1) Planning what to have ahead of time 2) Asking myself realistically what I need to eat to not feel deprived. 3) Make a number of low-calorie salads and dips 4) Find a dessert that doesn't taste 'healthy' but isn't too heavy on the calories. My ice cream maker is churning out a lot of sorbets these days...
So instead of eating up to half a loaf of challah at one sitting, I hold myself to two slices. After services, my synagogue puts out refreshment tables. I take 2 pieces of potato kugel and a frosted cookie, plus some fruit.
I'm down 25 lbs since October 30th, so it seems to be working. And fitting these treats into my daily allotment means that I can enjoy them without feeling guilty about 'cheating'.7 -

Absolutely! And wine is made from grapes, therefore it's a serving of fruit...brewerfan13 wrote: »I've had 30 servings of Easy Mac in 15 days. And don't care what anyone eats.
Yes... I've seen your thread...!4 -

ha, I saw this headline & thought there's someone I can get on board with. Then I looked at the poster & we're already friends lololol
It's sure not me giving you grief, I eat a serving of ice cream every evening if I can, and when I found some fat free fro yo that was less calories & tasted even better, now I eat that!
I eat what I like, keep my calories down, and if I can I try to boost my protein, since I'm usually low. I guarantee if I could only eat certain things and can't have others, I'd quit. How do I know? Been there. Ate strictly clean and healthy, preached it, the whole 9 yards. Between realizing I made a religion out of it, having desperate cravings for "bad" food I wasn't allowed to eat, and sick of taking 3 hours every single day to prepare every dinner from scratch, I quit with a vengeance, gained 75 pounds on about 6 years.
I mean I was awful, I refused to stop for food with family, because I wouldn't touch restaurant food that might use scary chemicals ( I majored in chemistry, I knew better, but that's why I call it a religion! ) I didn't eat at other people's houses, I was a huge food snob! And I got to hate every minute. I wanted real chocolate, I wanted Hostess ( before it came back nasty) I wanted raised donuts.
I finally came to my senses and pulled the pendulum back to the middle - moderation not extremes is where sanity is.
I eat what I like, but watch calories. Counting since I started paying attention to portions, which was before I started using MFP, I'm down 37 pounds. I just added mfp because it was a whole lot easier with something to track it, and nice to have friends who understood.

I've never tried those fiber one bars, but I really want to! It seems like a great way to hit the fiber goal. Do they taste good?
omg the fiber one mint chocolate brownie is heaven in 90 calories

I've tried to "eat healthy" more times than I can count over the last couple of years. Eating "healthy alternatives" etc. Every time, I've lasted a week, maybe, MAYBE lost some weight, but have gone so crazy that I've jumped off that train and gobbled up everything I could. And that's why I'm 20 lb heavier than I was when I decided to lose weight two years ago!
I've lost 6 lbs in about two weeks and I haven't cut anything out.3 -

I've tried the fiber one bars and hate them. They are so dry!! Try the special K brownies (80 calories) they are so delicious!!!!! So moist and amazing.
LOL different strokes. I have some of the Special K ones, you can have them =P One they are ridiculously tiny- like the size of a cracker. Two, it tastes mediocre at best. For 10 more calories, I'll take the fiber one brownie 100 times out of 100.
I just have the rest of the box of special K to finish, because I hate having to throw out food =/ I admit i dont eat the other varieties of fiber one, occasionally the other brownie (not the mint chocolate) and it's not as good, and I dont care for cheesecake, and well, there's just no competing with chocolate mint, so i don't bother. Sometimes I will warm it for like 10 seconds in the microwave (unwrapped of course!)1 -

Life's too short to never have pizza! I eat well most of the time- loads of lovely fresh veggies and plant proteins. And I also eat a whole pizza to myself almost every week, AND I'm losing around a pound a week while I do it.
I mean, who says you can't have it all? NOT ME. I wanna be slimmer AND I wanna eat the pizza and I'm armed with a weighing scales and a calculator and nobody's gonna stop meeeeee7
