Yes I can understand that.
Very true!3 -
If they don't want to talk to you, they don't have to.37

Ah okay. Well, maybe ladies aren't friendly or maybe it's just you. I choose who I am going to be friendly to at the gym. Some people I just don't like, so I don't really look their way or talk to them.9

Keep an eye out for social things like a nice smile in your direction . No point talking to a stranger that looks pissed off . That goes for all social settings .12

Don't feel bad dude, the gym is quite a selfish place and with that comes a lot of superficial people. Most people are there to train and go home but if something out of the ordinary does catch there eye then sloots...9 -
How do you feel about non-friendly males at the gym?
I don't go to the gym to talk. Talking is done in other places, like a coffee house or bar or movie theatre.32 -

I actually find this quite amazing, it says alot about society. You see the same people training the same time as you a few times a week, yet you never take the time out to at least get acquainted. But we go to "bars and coffee shops" to socialize with people we might never see again. Weird.

Why can't you make friends and talk to peole anywhere? I don't go to the gym but I am happy to talk to people anywhere. It makes the time go quicker and you might learn something even15 -

Apparently some people in this thread already know it all and there social circle is at maximum capacity.15 -
I don't try to flirt or come on to any females.
I try to be friendly and decent to everyone. Wheather it's spotting someone or just saying hello. I do understand everyone has different perspectives on this. As Bobby Mcfarine sings
"Don't worry be happy"12 -

I have a lot of gym buddies. I love them. They make my day and can be super helpful when I'm training heavy and need motivation. I also have people avoid at the gym because I dislike them.5

@happilymegan Maybe you misunderstood the OP. No one asked for a full on conversation but all he wants is a simple Hi and surely you can agree that as humans it's only natural to want to communicate and be acknowledged by another person? Keep in mind most people find there confidence in the gym and want to express themselves in this space.23

Iv been going to the gym for years. Just my opinion but ladies just don't seem to be very friendly. Maybe it's just me!
I know we are there to workout but a casual chat would be nice.
It could be you and having different expectations of the environment.
A gym isn't a social club to many people.
Are guys at the gym more chatty or is it just the situation/personality not gender?
Someone taking classes is probably more social/chatty than someone coming to the gym alone to knock out a certain number of minutes/reps.
Females may be less interested in chatting if that exercise time is their only personal time of the day.

And I guess you wouldn't have found these gym buddies if neither of you bothered to say Hi.8 -

People aren't really required to behave around anyone else in a certain way. Some people at the gym talk to me (or even acknowledge my existence). Other don't. I have zero expectations of how people I don't know should react when I enter a room. Do you get upset when people at the store don't want to hang out either?17

I have met some of my best friends at the gym.. I am always sociable and make chit chat no matter where I am. But when I am focused and working out, I tune others out. I am not being bitchy, just doing what I need to do. Before or after my workout though.. I chat a little, time permitting.8

Right. But I still pick and choose who I want to say hi to, to a certain extent. Or at least who I will continue having conversations with.0
