Hi Gals,
Joyce – those are really cute shoes – so much better than my dress shoes!!!
Marni – tears for the moose, and grr for the *kittens* that did it. Love the saying about the Men, a friend of mine has a BIL who lives in AK, while nice enough he’s odd…
Gloria - Great news on the insurance - if this job ends in June, get that shingles shot NOW and maybe you can get a 6 month supply of needed drugs in May just in case the next insurance is not so wonderful.
Yinka – welcome
Gingersnap – no judging here…. Especially if you’ve done the research… we each are headed to healthy via our own path…
Sue – Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
Barbie – she was with you when she was walking! And if she’s anything like my Levi, if he’s with me he’ll put up with anything!
Sherry – I am so glad you have found this nice stepping stone to the future! You sound so happy. I have to admit I had really not been exposed to Minons until you started posting them – the sayings are great, they are a bit odd looking!
This weekend is the super bowl party that I cater each year (I’m not a caterer but this is for an older friend) so 30+ people, I do the entrée and a veggie, they bring starters, dessert and drink. I do set up, serving, and clean up. This is a group of physicists who work together at Lawrence Livermore Labs and they are all over 70 – some in their 90’s but most are still working – However the hostess is the world’s most boring eater! So I have to do something with little to no spice, no allergies to deal with at least, so I am making 3 kinds of baked scratch Mac ‘n Cheese 1. Bacon and smoked cheddar 2. 4 cheese 3. Shrimp and leek with jack and cream cheese…. The vegie will be a big spinach salad, green beans and almonds, and a honey glazed carrot dish. I like doing this, but it is a long day – I have about ½ of the prep done, will do a bit tonight and finish tomorrow. I’ll bring everything ready to tuck into the oven. The hostess always compensates me generously, so that is a nice perk!
Well off to cook.
February Goals:

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Joyce, nice shoes. I didn’t realize they’d be so dressy. “Nice”.
Katla, glad your DH used the bike and two days in a row is a great start.
Marni, you have been here long enough now that you know ya can’t look the other way without getting behind. We are a chatty group but that is one of the things we all like about it. I just wish I read faster. Good to have you back.
Beth, when you took that fall into the chocolate I guess there was no one there to help and you had to eat your way out of it? So sorry.
Gloria, what a wonderful insurance plan. Too bad the job will end.
Kate, your DH definitely sounds like a keeper.
Yinka, welcome. We are happy to have you join us. I love that great smile and thanks for the introduction. Please come often and join right in.
Ginger, welcome to you as well. We are generally a non-judgmental group of ladies. We try to support each other as much as possible, so you can feel safe here. Just don’t leave when you reach your goal and we’ll support you in maintenance.
Rita, I love the picture of you and Brownie. I laughed at the visual too.
Ann, it will take a bit to get back into the routine of logging and eating right. I find the biggest help is planning ahead which can include logging ahead. If you change something you can go back and adjust the log. Good luck.
It’s almost bedtime and my throat has started hurting again. PPffttt…what’s with this nighttime sore throat??? At least it’s not all day so I should be happy. I’m using my ColdEeze which contains zinc and will keep using it until this is over. Off to bed for my beauty rest.
to any Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Hello and Happy Friday night ladies
The huge buttercream chocolate cake with 2lbs of chocolate mousse filling went over well at the work pot-luck today - DOH! When the clinical staff had their fill I invited the surgical team to consume the rest (they all looked really tired today) but you would have thought I lit a fire under them - they got up and RAN for cake! LOL
A nurse I work with has her own LulaRoe business - she’s doing quite well - well enough to quit being a nurse. I like the leggings but found some adorable ones from Zulily - great patterns for half the price of LulaRoe - I wear them with long tunics and high boots - so comfy it feels like going to work in pajamas.
Just turned the corner to pull into my driveway when I saw one of our mommy moose strolling by - tears actually squirted out of my eyes I was so happy to see she wasn't one of the ones who met their demise this week. I followed her briefly but she's nearly the size of my Xterra, so not the best pics from my iPhone taken from inside my car.
Nearly forgot - that big thing in the pic with my weenies was a huge Alaskan King Crab claw
Hey New People! Welcome .. Revenskye (great name! btw) - KBR - Yinka - Gingersnap - Jolene - Ann - Sundream - this is a great bunch of ladies with great hearts, reasonable goals, incredible achievements and great advice.
Paula Y - I really miss Tim Hortons! I wish we could get them up here in Alaska attached to Wendy’s like I have seen down the US East Coast. Massive congrats on the 7+lb weight loss!
Barbie - keep those doggies warm! Tickled to hear you have another terrific fur-kid!!!
Nancy D - gentle yoga sounds terrific - I think I’ll look for something similar here. I have seen that we have naked yoga classes here, but I’m sure the sight of me would permanently blind people. Great news about your shorts!
Katla - great news regarding being covered for the raccoon damage! The pup on your profile pic is adorable! The AK trooper show makes me cringe. Every week someones getting shot nearby or ODing. Lots of guns - growing up in Canada I only ever saw one on tv - now I sleep next to 3 of them - 14 of them in the house all together - mostly for hunting a couple collectables.
Margaret - I take the tumeric capsules, its been a help to me in reducing inflammation and after 3 months my arthritis pain is considerably better.
Sue - the massage sounded terrific! Even better with a scantilly clad Swede I hear!!!
Kim - superbowl with physicists sounds like my kind of party! Where and when should I show up?!!! Men in Alaska are veeeeeeeeeeeeeery interest. Pom marg’s and ‘tini’s?!! I’m coming over right now!
NYKaren - dinner with hubbs sounds wonderful - I bet you are so glad to have him home!
Sarah - enjoy yourself ! Ottawa is beautiful!!!
Lisa - sounds like the synthroid is working - excellent!
KJ Kelly - our colonscopy team send a card too - they are a sweet bunch - and don’t forget - they’ve seen your hiney!!!
Rita - loving the dog pics and you look so happy pictured with them!
Michelle - mahjongg is great - I play it in the evening on the computer to help me relax and I honestly think it helps me to sleep
Joyce - the shoes look really cute!
Hope I didn't miss anyone - hugs to one and all!!!
My word for 2017 is “Mindfulness” .. age 51, -28 lbs, 50 to go! 1200 cal/day

Hey now.....
Marni - Denali is on my bucket list along with the northern lights! I soak up as much as I can about Alaska, I consider it one of the last wild places along with the Yukon. And I can handle "odd" as long as he's good! So sorry about those *never minds* that did the "drive-by" on the moose. Some people's children! And that's nicer than what I really want to call them! I can forgive a lot of people for a lot of things but mistreating animals, including senseless killing, is not one of those things! Somebody needs to dress up like a moose and do a drive-by on them! Kinda like on "Crocodile Dundee" when Paul Hogan is hidden behind a dead kangaroo with his rifle sticking out from under the Roo's arm and he starts shooting at the drunk hunters in the trucks! Don't know if you've seen that one but that's my favorite scene in the whole movie.
Kim - oh man! You gotta see 3 movies for sure, "Despicable Me", " Despicable Me 2" and "Minions" if you want a good background on the minions! All 3 are really fun movies!
KJ - I think everything is going to work out just fine here. I feel so lucky and very very grateful! And if I can get within reach of my goal by the end of the year I will be extremely happy! Thanks for cheering me on! Now where are you hiding the play-doh??? Hmmmm????
Let's see if I have some more memes without bad language in them...lol....
OK, I think that should do it...lol. I want to ad one more that's not a minions one...
Good night everybody! Gonna go watch me some edumacational TV! (Yes I meant to spell it that way...lol!). So many documentaries, so little time! Sweet dreams ladies! Love you all! Peace!

Hello everyone. It's been a busy week. I'm trying to remember the last time I posted. My daughter had surgery on Tuesday. Everything went good and she's been recovering nicely until today. Back to the doctor this afternoon for a UTI, app aided by the catheter from last weekend. It's been one thing after another this week.
The eating is going okay considering my stress level has been so high. I've been wearing too many hats. Wife, mother, grandmother, nurse & babysitter is just too much for this middle aged lady.
On Sunday we are having a big family fish fry after church. My son is bringing his fish cookers, & the fish. My parents are coming and I'll have all my kids together.
Time to rock my granddaughter.

February's Goals
To know that I am an intelligent person. I will control my emotions and not let my emotions control me. Every time I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego, or dull my senses, I will remember that I will take off pounds sensibly.
(My TOPS pledge)

Hi I am 52 and living in Louisville KY. Though I have had my account for a long time I am just getting started here. Never did much before. Nice to see some people in my age range4

Michelle, I remember now when you had the landscaping done and how disappointed you were about the plants that you wanted to bloom early. We aren't having him plant anything (well, some grass the "cheap" way). We're just having things taken away and cleaned up. We might put in a few annuals and flowering shrubs ourself if we are motivated by the cleaned up yard.
Welcome Yinka and Gingersnap. I love both names. Gingersnap, I have a friend who was very successful on that same pill. After her initial jumpstart she cut back on the dosage. I tried a different one once. I can't remember the name of it now but it was super expensive and I didn't get it refilled after the first month. Actually, I think it's name was Meridia. Not absolutely positive. It was many moons ago.
I agree that your best bet for LuLaRoe is to ask on FB. If we were FB friends, I could add you to some groups. Your best bet for a big selection is a multi-consultant group. One I like is called LuLallRage. You might be able to search for it under groups and find it. They have a sale on Saturday night.
I confess to getting most of my solid color leggings from other places. Search for "buttery soft leggings" on Amazon. There's one brand I like that is $11.99. They aren't as comfortable as LLR, but at half the price they feel pretty good. And although I like the LLR Irma tunic and the Carly dress to wear with my leggings, I actually prefer to get my tunics elsewhere,

Sherry in the icy Gorge: I've done everything on the "Admit it list" & several of the items fairly recently. (1,4,5)
(((Becca))) I love your February goals.
I just talked with my DSIL who lives in eastern Oregon. They've had so much snow that buildings are beginning to collapse. The Portland news stations don't even mention them. They stop their coverage at Baker City. I'm almost mad enough to call, write, & txt the Portland stations with my complaint.

Katla~ I know the weather media well media in general is frustrating! Portland weather lumps ALL the "coastal" into one. Hey news flash Lincoln City can be world's away from Hammond weather wise!
Sometimes after I recite the TOPS pledge, I say,"Amen". It just fits!

Welcome to fellow newbies.
I am curious, I figured out that DH refers to husband or significant other, but does it stand for Dear Husband, Damn Husband, Dorky Husband or what?
KJ - what is an instant pot?
Grace - glad your daughter's surgery went well.
Lenora - what you said about lugging the 40 pound bag of potting soil really struck a chord. A few years ago, I was hiking with friends (one of the last times I did) and was struggling up the mountain while the others seemed to be gliding effortlessly ahead. I was feeling very low until one friend told me to think about it differently - every bit I did was twice as hard because I was carrying my own special backpack with me all the time. It still didn't get me up that mountain any quicker, but I did feel better.
Becca - I know what you mean about Oregon weather. We spend three months of the year in Waldport and can be socked in with fog when Yachats and Newport, twenty minutes either side of us have bright sunside or vice versa. It is part of the Coast's charm.
I was very pleased with myself yesterday. Went to the hairdresser and did not touch or even want the three little mini chocolates she serves her clients with tea. Before I would have scarfed them down and peeked longingly at those of the women sitting near me. I find I have fewer cravings than before. I am passionate about food and am delighted that I am finding recipes that give me as much pleasure as the calorie-laden dishes.
Hope everyone has a nice day.4 -

Charlene-I was curious also so looked on the internet. Lularoe has a website where you can see many of there clothing offerings but they are not sold in stores. The people who sell the product are independent sales people and have in home parties. the website has a map with where you can find your own consultant.
Tomorrow DGS#2 turns 9 years old. I'm getting time to myself as the boys are going to visit their mother. we will celebrate his birthday next weekend- maybe a party at a indoor trampoline park.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes but it wasn't my birthday. It was my DGD's. We did home made create your own pizzas. She had fun. The party is on Saturday so two cakes for her this week. I have to say my piece of birthday cake was very delicious.
Stopping on pg 5. I will get caught up........evntually.
Allie - Good Luck. I want only the best for you. Counselling did help Larry and I.
Stick to your guns and keep your pay cheque going into your own account. You can pay a bill or two from there. I could be wrong but it seems as if Tom wants to stay in control of you. Finances can be discussed at counselling also. We did.
NY Karen - Thanks for the photo of you and Rori. Glad that you were able to meet up
Carey - Is there something in particular that has you stressed.
Yvonne - Happy that you are "YOU" again. I love the idea of rewarding yourself. I used to do that. The last time I bought myself a tea go cup. I love that thing.
Kate - Good decision to have that coat altered. It sure changes how things look when the fit is good.
Lisa - So sorry to hear about your DH's wrist. Tell him it is far better to stay on top of the pain than to chase it.
DJ - We go camping as often as we can. Lol. Last year we camped with friends for 10 days, went on our own for about a week. Sprinkle in a few weekends as we go.
Lenora - It is an RV type trailer. I think it was brought up to sell to a Snowbird so you could live in it. I can't wait to get it rehabbed and out for the first run.
Mia - That's quite an honour to be the first guest speaker. Do you like public speaking?
Re- I am sure that you've been hit on a time or two. Who could resist your smile?
Cute story about the hot dog stand.
Sherry - It sounds as if you are much happier in your new surroundings.
As I said I am chasing you ladies. Hopefully I catch up soon
So , Wednesday was the birthday supper for Keira. She liked it but is getting very excited for the dance party on Saturday. She phoned her uncle with a play list. He laughed at that. Lucky girl gets 2 cakes. The one for Saturday is very sassy. Keira is ready to dance, dance, dance. I got her an American Girl design book. She has already used the stencils and designed 6 outfits ("Mix and Match. You know how it works, Grandma?")
DGS went to kick boxing yesterday. He is complaining about his aching muscles today. He is at that awkward stage where he is growing so fast that he doesn't know what to do with his limbs.
Thursday was a Costco day. Busy place. I took my brother out to see the trailer. I made my sister put on clothes and come with us. Fell asleep for a few hours directly after supper.
Friday I had to be at the store at 6 a.m. and then stayed until 1 p.m. because one of the other managers had an appointment. There is a reason that I only work 5 hrs a day. My back was spasming so I put the heating pad on. I woke up at 7 and had left overs. This day really took a toll.
I will tell the story of DH and I meeting at a later date.

Wow, I just love reading the posts in this thread! But there are so many! I will definitely have to schedule time each day to see how everyone is doing.
So it's Saturday morning and after breakfast DH and I are taking our little dog out for a walk in the forest. When we get back I will do a mix of housework and crafting.
The Rugby 6 Nations is starting this afternoon too on TV, which DH will be watching, so I shall retreat to my studio until it's time to do dinner!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Morning Ladies~
and welcome to all the new ladies~ such a wonderful group here.... Love ya all lots... working until noon...4 -
Welcome new ladies! :flowerforyou:
Well, girls, I got on the scale this morning and I lost two and a half pounds over the holiday in Mexico. That takes me exactly back to the target I want to be at. A couple of pesky pounds have been plaguing me and proving hard to shift, so I am delighted to have got rid of them. :drinker: Now I have to keep them off and not "treat" myself. DH lost one and a half pounds without being ill, but he definitely needs to fill out a bit. He is 6 ft tall and only 150 lbs.
I am back at my 600 calorie exercise, so I have plenty to eat. Today I went a bit harder at it, but I'm yet to get back to my pre- holiday effort. According to the book, YOUNGER NEXT YEAR, the important thing is to incorporate some vigorous (for you) exercise into your daily regime. This emulates our history as hunter/gatherers when we walked a lot as part of our daily lives and spent a part of the time sprinting and working hard as we worked together to catch our prey. The vigorous activity is the magical pill which will change our body chemistry for the better, helping to disperse the fat around our middles, ( the "toxic swamp"), and generally eliminating inflammation of joints, high chloresterol, high blood sugar, plaque in the arteries etc, etc. I urge every one to read the book - the science is fascinating. Some of the nutritional info is out of date - especially about fats, but generally I rate the book very highly and it inspired me to get an inexpensive polar heart rate monitor. It is important to get your heart rate significantly up for exercise to be of the most benefit. It is amazing how easy that is to do, even in your own living room, in front of the TV. I have found that waving your arms over your head, as in the classic jumping jacks, (which I can't do because of my dodgy knee) while marching on the spot with high knees, can really get you heart rate up. Another easy one is to stand on one leg with your knee bent (this is to strengthen your knee) wave the other leg around while raising light dumbbells sideways with your arms. I use 5 lb dumbells. It really gets the heart rate up very quickly. Kettlebell swings (look on line) are also good for that. You only need the space of a hearth rug for any of these things and they cost nothing or very little.
Going to print out my insurance claim forms today and get them filled in. We've found all the bills and receipts. Hope to get back around £260.
The most useful thing I took to Mexico (and to Sri Lanka) was a surge protector 4 socket extension . Often there are very few accessible plugs in hotel rooms, (sometimes only the bedside light socket) and with all our modern gadgets we need a lot of charging points. For Europe of course you would need an adaptor that changes the current. We are 240 volts. My phone and tablet were quite happy in Mexico on 110, but I would think you might have to be careful with some things the other way round. Anyway, I even took one on the cruise last year and found it extremely useful.
Lots of love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx8 -
Been to gym bike, rower and treadmill and 20 min walk back home. About to have lunch, hard boiled egg salad.
Hope everyone has a great weekend
