Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Sharon, ok some days I’m just a little slow. *ok or a lot* I need an explanation on your statement, “Will write tomorrow night. Hopefully I will have more hair by then.” What’s with the hair statement???
Mae, so sorry to hear of all your problems but glad you are back. My DD had a frontal lobe injury a few years ago and even that took her a few years to get back to normal. I hope you continue to see progress each and every week.
Kelly, I do love me some polka dots. I got a new swim suit this year and it is also polka dots. I had one a few years ago that I loved but it got so big I couldn’t wear it. Woo hoo I will wear polka dots whether they are in style or not. Glad you all like it. So excited for your arrival.
Sarah, I think from time to time we all fear some serious health problem. Hopefully it is just one of those silly fears. When I began this journey I lost weight every week and often two or three days in a week. When I hit the 60 pounds lost mark it just seemed to stop. Not slow down mind you but STOP. I’ll admit it hasn’t moved much in the past two years but the point is, I’m still off three meds that I was able to give up. I still have more energy than I did in years and years and I know I am healthier. Also my body had still made changes in size and shape. Would I like to lose more? Oh yes. But the way I look at it is that if I never lose another ounce, I so far ahead of where I was 3 years ago that I will just count my blessings. Please try not to get to discouraged as I’m sure you will lose more. Yes, it gets harder the closer we get to our goal. Keep up the good work and the rewards will come.
Lisa, thanks for the kind words. I don’t know if I told ya’ll the story on the shoes? We were told that we needed white shoes. I had purchased some blue ones to match the dress and had been wearing them ion the carpet to break them in. Since I spent more on the blue shoes that I liked, I returned them and started looking for my white shoes. I found a pair of flats for only $10 at Payless. Then my friend told me she had some she would loan me. I returned the flats as I decided that they were really too short. My friend’s shoes ended up being too big and I knew I’d not be able to keep them on. Again, time to look for white shoes. As I was on my way to Hamricks I was talking to my Cruise Buddy on the phone and she asked if I had been to Goodwill. I was almost in front of it when she mentioned it so there I went. I didn’t find any white shoes but did find these clear shoes with the cute little clear heel. They fit perfectly and were comfy to boot. I decided the clear shoes and white hose would just have to do. Now I plan to take them on my cruise in April to wear with my outfit on Formal night. Glad ya’ll like them. That is interesting on Corey’s arm. So he has no cast or anything to stabilize it? I hope it all heals quickly and properly.
KarenVA, it’s so wonderful to hear of Olivia’s progress.
NYKaren, that is so sad that your friend’s DD is not responding to the treatment. That just brought tears to my eyes and I will for sure add her to my prayers.
Rita, so happy things are working out and the stress level has dropped. The RV looks cool. Looking forward to interior pics. Those snow pictures really make it real and I know it’s not over yet. Hang in there and stay safe.
Heather, love the picture of Bea on her bee. She and her “big sister” are really looking alike. So cute.
Llanette, I can’t wait until I get to the point of exercising consistently enough to eat back a few calories. What I hear most is that some people eat back ½ of what they calculate they burn. I hear all the time that MFP calculates everything on the high side so you wouldn’t want to eat back all your exercise calories. Good luck.
Allie, my condolences to you and all in the snow that have to work so hard to get out of your own driveway. I remember how exhausting that was when we lived in Milwaukee and I was in my 20’s then. I’m sure I couldn’t do it now. Please take care.
Pip, Yogi looks like he is enjoying the sunshine.
Becca, I “love” fried catfish but I only put salt and pepper on it. Well and maybe a bit of cornmeal. That is the Southern way. Yum yum.
to any Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I think I am going to the International Moose Convention in Tampa the end of June. A friend from here is going and has her transportation and hotel room paid for. She has asked me to go and share her room and I would just need to take care of my food and expenses. I’m excited because I wouldn’t be able to afford to go otherwise. I’m thinking of all of you in the “Snow Zone” and hope you all keep power and stay safe. Hopefully it will be gone in a few days.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

evening ladies~
no T.V. for us as Dish Network/Dish is out because of snow.. our dopey internet is not fast enough to stream anything..so we will probably contact Comcast to see if we can get internet through them at least it will run faster...
still blowing and snowy but majority of the heavy stuff is done.. Tom did the snow blowing today and I did the shoveling...
I took a nice bath and feel much better.. thinking of a cup of sleepytime.. but think I will pass..1 -
Thanks all on the info on the Sleepy time tea. I opened the box last night and it does smell so delish. But I didn't need it last night. I might try it instead of my Ambien at some point though.
Lisa, that tape reminds me of the players in beach volleyball at the Olympics. Hope it helps.
Mae, what an ordeal you have been through. Have they considered a pacemaker to have more control of your heart rate?
Wow, we are on baby alert!!!! What fun. Plus I am watching April the giraffe all the time
Talked to Christina, ODD, today and Ellie, her YDD got her part of the genie in Alladin. For grade school or middle school level it's Allidin kids musical. She has the personality of the genie. Needless to say she is excited. When her sister was the same age she also had a major part in Suesical the musical. But Ellie isn't known for her signing and Trinity is. But maybe we just haven't heard it.
Stay safe in the eastern US.

Carey, Sue, DJ thank you so much for your kind words and advice
Becca what an ordeal, just to get an email
Well, today's drive home was the scariest this season. The storm is crazy. We were without telephone and internet for a few hours but it is back for now. Way too much snow and a lot of accidents
Hope everyone who is facing bad weather is doing o.k. Sending hugs to everyone who is in pain physically or mentally.
Thank you all for being here. You are very important!

He arrived this morning at 10:26am! His daddy texted me at 10:30 with a "He is here!"...and that is all I got for another two and a half hours until my daughter called me! LOL! Men! His name is Joaquin (pronounced Wah-keen) Lorenzo and he is 7 pounds, 20 inches long! I am sharing the only pictures I have of him so far! I am in LOVE!!!

Tested (couldn't resist) and ended up same as Heather except for being an extrovert rather than an introvert. So, I'm an ENTJ-T. The Commander.
They did put Corey back in the brace as well... at least until the X-ray on 3-31.

Karen: I wish my mom had seen your smoking emoticon & understood the message. She died from smoking cigarettes so much they damaged her lungs until they couldn't function. It was horrible to be unable to breathe.
KJLamore: Congratulations on the birth of Joaquin Lorenzo. What a cute baby! He obviously has his daddy by the heart-strings already.
I have a fever and stayed home from a meeting this evening. I'm planning to stay warm and take things easy. Sending good thoughts to those who are struggling with snow and cold. We just have wet. It isn't as pretty as snow, but it isn't as dangerous, either.
Stay safe and warm.

Phew! That snow shoveling surely burned LOTS of calories. It took me an hour to just do the deck. It was easily about 2 ft deep. Hubby had shoveled just a small section of it from the door to the steps on one side earlier & the sidewalk, but that's it before he left to go plow for the school. I shoveled the sidewalk again, too but that was only about a ft deep again, but also widened it out since he'd only done a narrow path just to get to his truck.
I was bundled up warm & had a hat on that has a mask thing to cover my mouth so could breathe ok. Lots of heavy breathing, though & so sweaty when done. Wiped me out & my back & wrist are really hurting now. Had my daughter help me but she's petite & doesn't really lift much so did about 1% of the amt I did. Appreciated her help anyway & good to get her outside & helping out. She has a lot of medical problems, but is able to do more than she's usually willing to. She's 15, but mentally challenged so really much less mature, etc & has psychological issues - prefers to pace in her room talking to her "people" when home. As soon as we came inside, she had to go "report" to them before she'd come eat the dinner I made for her even though wanted her to just stay downstairs & eat since getting late. We're used to that now - everything's on HER time - just have to work around it as best as we can. Getting her do anything quickly is a disaster. For those who are newer, she's biologically my sister's child who we adopted when sister passed away about 4 yrs ago.
Poor hubby's still gone plowing for the school. Left about 4 pm & it's 8 now. Called a bit ago & said he's at the elem school nearby now & should be done in about an hr & will swing by to do our driveway. At least is seems the snow has let up some so less coming down & not blowing as bad. If it stays like this, will likely have school tomorrow. He'll probably still need to go plow again early in the morning, though. Hope it isn't followed up by sleet, etc.
Well gotta go eat something & then shower after daughter gets done with hers & get her to go to bed. Then to bed myself before too long.
Take care. -- Becky (upstate NY)0 -
KJ Joaquin is adorable, congrats!

Kelly! Love those pix of Joaquin and his mom & dad. Glad he's here and everyone is happy and healthy. Don't blame you for being "in love". I am a wee bit jealous but continue to live vicariously through all of you with your photos and stories of the little ones, so please keep sharing.

Beth in Buffalo- I just checked your weather report - hope the plows run through the night and it's smooth sailing to make it to the hospital on time tomorrow morning. Is DH expected to be in there for a while after the back surgery? Crossing fingers and saying a prayer that all goes smoothly and he's better than new once he gets healed up!
Lisa - welcome to the world of NTJ's My observation is that we tend to read and write a lot.
Allie, you are pretty much the opposite of me except in the J (judging) part - keep looking and hopefully you can find a bit more on the attributes of your "type". When you and Tom get to counseling, perhaps you and he will be able to take an in-depth form of this MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) test and discuss what it means in your relationship.
Tho sometimes I think there's a special "type" for our DH's that is not easily measurable.... .... oops did I say that? I think my filter blew off when I was walking this afternoon!

Welcome, Joaquin
Beth, best wishes to you and hubby on his surgery tomorrow.
Jake's phone decided to drop dead last night and the two choices were to use the insurance ($100.00 deductible) to get it replaced but he couldn't get the replacement today and he leaves on his trip tomorrow....or buy a new phone...so he got the new phone and has spent the afternoon learning to use it and making sure all the apps work. It was an exhausting day (in a good way) but I sure didn't get as much done as I had hoped. Fortunately we don't have snow.
Yesterday I heard a podcast interview with Susan Cain, the author of Quiet--the power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking I haven't read the book, but I have the audio version on hold.

Good Evening My Dear Friends,

Kelly: Happy day! Joaquin is beautiful.
Karen: Makes my heart sing to see Olivia getting stronger.
Rita: I think you're doing great given the amount of change and upheaval you and DH have endured recently. Chin up and smile. You're about to head into a whole new adventure.
Hope all in the storm zones stay safe, warm and healthy. It's been freakishly warm and dry in Colorado. No complaints. I LOVE spring. Just not quite confident that we've seen the last of winter.
Two weeks from today I'll be heading to Honolulu. Ahhhhhhh.
Take care friends. We can do this.

I too had to check it out, had never taken it before. According to this I'm a Defender ISFJ-T "Defenders are true altruists, meeting kindness with kindness-in-excess and engaging the work and people they believe in with enthusiasm and generosity." Hmmm
Rori - How long will you be in Hawaii? Enjoy every minute of it.
Janet #1 - I love the dress and you do look gorgeous. Wish I had pretty little ankles like yours, mine are always swollen. We always have something we don't like about ourselves and you're right, perhaps we always think we need to loose a little more but you've come a LONG way baby. Look at you
Karen in VA - the news is so good about your beautiful Olivia, hope her kidneys continue to function well and that she is able to go home soon.
My oldest daughter, Megan, has a new little step granddaughter, Mia, born Friday evening March 10th, 5lbs 9 1/2 oz 17" long. She was a month early and is still in NICU last I knew. They tried taking her out yesterday but she could not go without oxygen so they returned her to NICU. Hopefully she will be able to go home one day this week.

Generator has been on since 2 PM power outage, cable out an hour later which means no tv, wifi or house phones. Using my iPhone hotspot for internet but running slow. Wind dying down, 12" of heavy, wet snow. Haven't read 87 posts to catch up but will tomorrow hopefully. Need to be in Boston for noon appointment

DJ. - You look fantastic in that dress. As for that messed up post chalk it up to a little too much vanilla in my coffee? It would have been nice to have more hair by tonight though
Lisa - I hope that tape works some magic for Corey. Here's to less pain.
Karen- Good news on Olivia. You must be so excited and happy.
NY Karen - Sending prayers and positive thoughts for your friends' family.
Rita - It sounds like things are taking a turn for the better. RV looks nice. Have you named it?
Heather - As always Bea brings a smile to my face.
KJ - You must be over the moon excited. Being Grandma is the Best! Joaquin is so very cute.
annieoldie - Sending prayers for your DD and the twins.
Beth - Saying a prayer for your hubby's back surgery.
Janetr - Mia is beautiful. Hope she is able to come off the oxygen and go home soon.
Today was not the best for eating. I need to get back to eating breakfast I think. My ankle is feeling a bit better so if the weather holds I may try walking a little longer tomorrow.
HR Manager came down for meetings. The staff was very vocal and very complimentary about the assistant managers apparently. That was nice to hear. We had our own meeting with her. Overriding themes were communication and recognition. Same themes as every other year. I am not sure what we can do to recognize them more. We give out gift cards, thank you cards, acknowledge them in meetings, etc. We can't get them any more money or more hours. I had to leave the meeting as I was already late for my appointment for my nails. Our half hour meeting turned into almost 2 hours.
My nails are now a robin's egg blue in anticipation of Spring and Easter. Larry hates them but they will go well with the blue shirts I wear 5 days/week. My manicurist just got back from Nicaragua. Dreaming of travelling soon.
My DS asked me stop there for coffee and a visit. I feel like she could come to my house some time but I did it.
My niece is now thinking of getting married on Oct 7th. This is the 4th date she has come up with. I was hoping she wouldn't pick that weekend as it is Larry's 65th birthday on Oct 5th and I was hoping some of his family could come celebrate with us. We'll see. The wind may change.
Took Keira to dance class so her parents could go to the information night about Greysyn's trip to Quebec. She was so excited to wear her "sports bra" for hip hop class. It's really just a short exercise top. Her brother is just disgusted that his Mother would let his sister wear such a thing. He is such a funny, conservative kid.
Trying to keep to the No Sugar as best I can.

Sharon, you can do recognition in emails , there's a few articles on the web about recognition if you really want to look into it.

Joaquin is adorable, Mia and Olivia too.. so many adorable babies...
Tom took my car ,I will take his as he has the longer commute...
I am taking the senior driving course with my dad tomorrow and dropping Chester off at the groomers..
Schools here in town have a 2 hr delay, and I hope my DD doesnt ask me to get Taliah to school I lost time yesterday from work. and I either have to use personal time, or vacation time... will see if I can skate by without using any..2 -
Morning all. Looking out my window at the huge wall of snow and can't even see the road. Kind of worried about the drive in. Did not sleep well, I wonder if it was the protein in my snack but that was at 6:30 and I went to bed around 10.
Sharon I understand about the challenge with recognition. It is very hard when you have no dollars in your budget that you can use . I agree with Pam, we have done some creative things using email. I honestly believe our reward for working is our pay check and my job as manager is to recognize the efforts of my staff and continue to maintain a productive, kind and happy work environment. We did a study years ago about recognition in the work place and found that the majority of employees did not want "stuff" rather, they preferred a kind word from their manager or senior admin. Sometimes, I will ask the CEO to come recognize my staff.
Have I said lately how much I love my wearever pan!! I keep trying to cook messy sticky things but they don't stick and the pan comes clean every time!
Going out now to brave the snow and icy roads ugh!

Hi ladies, I'm baaaaack (sort of).
I have been frightfully busy and the results are a depressingly massive weight gain and a tangible loss of fitness. I haven't had time to go out jogging or plan my meals or eat properly. Some days I even neglected my 500 grams of veggies!
Since mid-January I haven't had time even to lurk on the thread, much less comment. I'll try to go back and read up a bit so I know what's been going on with you, but that's for later. Now I just have to try to get back into the swing of things.
The only upside is that in mid-March, I've already earned nearly half as much as I did in all of last year. That will give me a nice buffer this summer when things slow down again - as they inevitably will.
I'll type more to you later, but first I have to go out jogging! It just stopped snowing and it's still "warm" = a couple degrees below freezing.
/Penny, getting back on track at the North Pole7
