Lenore: Thanks for the advice on the phone. The last I heard it was in rice. After that, I think they need to take it to apple. They can't afford a new one, so I hope they can resurrect this one. :flowerforyou:
Becca: I love the photo of you and your sister. What beautiful smiles you both have!
Lisa: I hope all of your changes in work and location lead to contentment. :flowerforyou:
Heather: I second your advice to read Younger Next Year. I read it because Barbie recommended it, and I was able to check it out through our library. Since I have long since returned it, I don't get the opportunity to reread the parts that are most important to me. I may request it from the library again, though.
Allie: (((HUGS))) You deserve happiness and peace. :flowerforyou:
Carol: When our dog had a nasty digestive episode after eating some Christmas candy that contained chocolate, he had to have his tummy pumped & we were told by our vet to feed him only white rice and chicken until his stools were firm again. Good luck with your pup's digestive issues. :ohwell:
Meg: (((HUGS))) I'm so happy that your daughter is in a home she feels good about and is inviting you for family events. Details can be worked out as things go along. I hope your DH's situation gets resolved in a positive way. I'm sorry about the loss of Benny Beagle. Are you thinking about getting another dog? I know I need a dog in my life, so I automatically think everyone does. Logically, I know that isn't always so.
Carol: I love the family photos.
This is tax day in the US and our accountant was swamped so he is filing for extensions for many clients, including us. This is a first for us and we aren't in trouble because of it. We got our part of the job done and turned in to him on time. Yoga today! I can hardly wait.

Lenora -GRITSandSLUTS wrote: »Mia – Where did you get those ornaments for your ornaments for your bottle tree; do you blow your own glass?
Yes, I made the ornaments. I blow glass for a hobby. So when I post about going to the studio I am referring to the glass studio where I rent time to blow. Too expensive to set up a hot glass furnace to blow at home.

Happy Bat Appreciation Day!
I was away at a family camping trip for a long weekend, so I got hopelessly behind here. Just had to skip back a few pages and jump in, so I'm sorry I missed everybody's news.
danareel6615 - We have a friend from Austin who also moved to Hot Springs. It sounds like the two cities are simpatico. She loves it up there! You're right about the taxes... we moved from Austin to Taylor a couple of years ago because we couldn't afford to live in Austin anymore.
Heather - I've always thought it might be fun to see a cricket match with someone who understands what's going on. Trying to pick it up just by watching is a challenge. You look very stylish in your coat and sunglasses!
Mia - Your handcrafted bottle tree ornaments are fabulous! I took a fused glass class once, and I still remember the teacher saying that sometimes glass artists aren't recognized for their art because the sheer beauty of the materials makes even an unsuccessful project beautiful. Your "bottles" are certainly a success!
Sarah - It sounds like you had a great "unplugged" experience, but I'm sorry you had to be ill to do it!
Marcelyn - My mind boggles at the idea of 107 grandchildren! What a treasure!
The family campout this weekend was a great success, and it was so good to have a break from everything for awhile. We were all there except Dad, who isn't into camping anymore and wasn't interested in staying in a hotel nearby. Thank goodness the predicted rain held off, but in the wee hours Sunday morning we were all awakened by helicopters running some kind of search pattern very low. It sounded like they were going to land right on top of us, and it went on for a couple of hours. Not so peaceful! It was still a good time, but my hips were really hurting by the time we left so I was glad to get back to my bed last night.
Wishing you all a fine day!

Yvonne - Very brave of you to camp out. I used to do it all the time when I was young, but nowdays a bed and, more importantly, an adjacent bathroom is a necessity. :noway: Yes, sitting with an expert at the cricket makes it much more interesting. He can see little, tiny details that most people miss. He used to be a good club fast bowler.
Meg - I feel for you trying to deal with your daughter 's comprehension problems. Is she diagnosed on the autistic spectrum? I know she has difficulties in general. Perhaps it would help to have a firm rule about how much notice must be given for a family event and what would constitute an invitation and acceptance. I am deeply neurotic about planning and organisation and, fortunately, my DDIL makes allowances for me. She knows not to leave it later than September to think about Christmas !!!!!!!!!!!. Sometimes I would like to be more spontaneous, but I am a control freak.
Having said that, I still don't know who is coming to Max's 6th birthday party! DDIL is on a 'digital detox' weekend, with everything switched off, so I can't ask her. :noway:
DH is home. It was a draw, which basically means there was not enough time to get both teams out twice. :noway: Strange game.
Made some chicken stock with the chicken carcase. Looking forward to my curry. Yum!
Carol - Love your photos. Your grandchildren have exactly your smile! You could do some more exotic cooking when your DH goes off for his weekends. That's when I have my "weird" lunches! You could always cook double or triple portions and freeze them. Then get a boring, ready made, chill/cook meal for your DH some days and eat your own stuff.
I sometimes eat things that my DH won't eat.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx who is going to make the beds with DH for the grandkids who are arriving tomorrow! Excited!3 -

Well, I am having a problem with my computer. For some reason, it is not accepting any of my passwords! However, I can access everything on my phone. Those passwords seem to be fine (and they are the same ones!) Any one have any ideas? Is it a "security" issue with my laptop?1
-
KJLaMore - It certainly could be a 'security issue' if it won't let you use any of your passwords; but, using the same on your laptop. I think I would 'freak out' if I could not get mine to accept the passwords. I can't get my computer 'open' without a password. I need to write mine down in a book; so I don't forget them. Sometimes I just have to take a 'jab' at what I 'think' it might be depending on what it is; or I use a password that begins with the same letter as the app that needs a password.
Had a quite weekend; but, yesterday had a 'migraine' from HELL-o Kitty. First thought I had either slept in a different position or that my C-pap mask was collapsing; changed it; didn't help. Took my migraine medication, 2 muscle relaxants, something for dizziness and something else for nausea. Today I woke up with the same, so first thing I called my GP's office and he had an opening at 10:45 so I went in. Muscles had gotten so tight because of the headache that he gave me 2 shots; one for Tordol and anther to relax my muscles; and, sent in a Rx to take, too. Feeling much better; but, did not wait around to see if Rx came in while I was at K-Mart.

Lenora: I find passwords very irritating. I have the same password for everything and now and then I am supposed to change. I have my newest apple password on a sticky note on my desk and listed in my phone. I know that isn't supposed to be how things work but I don't care. I'm not protecting financial information or state secrets. :ohwell: :noway:3

Kelly ~ Usually when it won't take my password, I finally realize that the caps lock button is on. LOL3

Yeah, check the cap lock and the number lock too. If that don't work, try rebooting.2

Did 10 minutes of pilates, held my plank for 2 min 50 sec, then the extremepump class.
Went to Aldi after exercise, came home and we put the ceramics out that needed stakes. Went to Lowe's Hardware to get hangers for the ceramics that will go on the pergola. Started to vacuum out the spa then it started to rain. Ceramics tonight then mahjongg.
Carey - what I used to do when any of the kids had a fundraiser is that I would decided that I'll give xxx amount. Then, if there was something that I REALLY wanted, I got that and made a donation of the remainder. This way the school got 100% of the money
Lenora - does Louis know how to get the red clay off bricks? Actually, does anyone?
My butterfly should be done and ready for me to pick up. Hope I clear glazed it OK. I've never done that in order for it to be fired white.
Carol GA - Vince is a meat and potatoes person, too. Everything is very plain for him. That's one reason why I miss Mexican Train. I used to be able to try different recipes that he wouldn't otherwise eat. But oh well.... What a lovely family you have
Let myself slide yesterday. You know something? Today I felt so sleepy. It was that I wasn't eating decently.
I hate when you have to put in a password and the place where you do doesn't tell you it's requirements (like one capital, a number, a special character). If it did, I could usually figure out what my password was. Then they won't let you use a password that you previously used.

Kelly - see if one of these ideas work.
1. Yes - as suggested above - check caps or numbers lock keys. Sometimes it's the simplest thing. If that's not it.
2. Turn it off. Wait a few minutes and turn it back on. This usually fixes 90% of my DH's computer problems. If that doesn't work.
3. Check to see if you have any updates to be installed. If so - install the critical updates. If that doesn't work.
4. Perhaps a previously installed update caused a glitch. Use System Restore to restore your Windows System back to its last working state. You can find info about using system restore on the internet. (Using your Phone of course.)
Look up the help forums for your operating system. I assumed you're using Windows. But it could be another system - Mac. Linus.
Good luck!

I use Last Pass for my password protection. All I have to remember is one password and all the others are locked away behind it. It will generate new passwords and sync them across all your devices. We went to this when the second iPad went missing on an airline flight and we had to go through and change EVERYTHING that my husband had on it. Last Pass solves that problem, or at least makes it super easy to change and generate new passwords. Our son who works as a computer developer recommended it to us.
Watching two grandkids today and went over to help the mama of the newest grandchild clean house and do laundry today. I remember how tough it is that first week at home alone. Back home now and the two are in the pool even though it's a bit chilly after the rain last night. They aren't complaining as they keep hopping between the hot tub and the pool (even though the hot tub isn't running, but being shallower it warms more in the sunlight). Here's a picture of our pool opening group (one is hiding behind the others so there are actually 11 in the picure plus my son)

Now I just have to put the brakes on my Spendy month. Gotta get a grip on the budget.

Dear Ladies,
On Saturday I rec'd a call from the secretary at my doctors office. Didn't even realize they worked on a Saturday. She told me my results were in with my cholesterol. I guess normal levels are in the 200's, and mine is 255. Sadly last year when I did blood work it was 225. So a year of trying of monitoring my diet I have made things worse. My self esteem is a bit deflated, but I will soldier on. I weighed in at the doctors office on Friday at 243 lbs. That is up from my weight of 240 lbs.
So, I have to do some serious changes don't I? I am frustrated by my lack of commitment to myself. I need to stop this trying to lose weight $h1t! When will I understand my place in my own life? Why do I make food choices that have nothing to do with me? Why do I snack food, just because I enjoy the movement my mouth makes? Why can't I seem to see this thru?
Its easier to just not try, then to try then fail. A defeatists attitude, that has nothing to do with what makes me tick. I am not at my finest moment, but I am trying to wrap my mind around my feelings.
I wish to think like you Heather. I want to be at a place where I can feel proud of myself. It seems all my most proudest moments are external from me. My kids, my home, my marriage. Yes I do play a part with each, but when I think of just me, I get no joy. So I put me on the back burner, concentrate on other things.
Sitting on the couch, in my clean, tidy living room, and tears are falling.
Well I need to call my friend and decline my volunteering this Thursday with the Senior Luncheon. My head and my heart just isn't in it.
Please ladies, I didn't type this all to get sympathy from you all, just venting. Just having my glorious pity party here.

Carefully recording calories guys. And reading each and every encouraging update.
Saw the rheumatologist and got a big laundry list of referrals to more specialists and therapies I'll need to complete.
BUT, I am now settled at a slightly lower dose of prednisone (20 mg a day). My body is adjusting. My weight is stable after a gain of 3 or so lbs (I admit it, I weigh WAY to often... like, almost obsessively).
The day before Easter my granddaughter and sister visited. We colored eggs (I like a hard boiled egg in my salads!) and made a cake that my granddaughter took home for a family gathering they were having on Easter.
My knee hasn't slipped in days (torn meniscus, surgery is STILL on hold because of other health issues). I am thinking out putting out an all points bulletin to my facebook friends that are local to come and take me for a walk. There is a mall nearby... I'm hoping a friend or two will snatch me up on the "come help Feeeeline heal" thing.
I know it seems like I whine a lot guys... hope so much you will forgive me! I'm usually a VERY positive person! This latest round of health stuff has knocked the pins out from under me.
Anyway... thanks for listening. Goal for today... ask for a walking partner. Keep within my calorie goal. Express gratitude.

Ginger I just finished reading two pages of posts and am writing this reply while riding my recumbent exercise bike. I do other Internet tasks while riding. I listen to audio books and podcasts using blue tooth headphones while walking. Thus I am able to be active and using my technology. It has helped me to seek every opportunity to be active
Meg When Brandy died we were heartbroken but during the next few days I realized how worried I had been when we walked and in the middle of the night. Caring for a beloved pet is overwhelming.

Cute baby – Your DD looks too young to be a grandmother; but, I was one @ 45; which is relatively young. Our DOS became a Daddy at the ripe old age of 19. His wife was 5 days to go before she’d be 18. But, I have know people with children who got married young as they had; so being a 'young' grandmother isn't all that uncommon.
Michele – As soon as he comes in from cleaning brushes I’ll ask. Louis said that a 'pressure washer' should get it off. When he does pressure washing of houses that have 'mildew' on them he mixes some Clorox in it.
I did better this past week, than the week before; I’ll have probably put on a couple of pounds. I’ll make sure, like last time, to wear shorts. Every little bit you can take off, the better.
For most of mine I put a “1” and a “!” at the end. Certain things I use each granddaughter’s name and some, I haven’t used and would have to ask for a ‘link’ to reset it. I don’t do any online banking; I do have my checks automatically deposited; but, that is a ‘requirement’; only have 2 P.A.D., past that, I still want a ‘paper trail’. I get the same thing on stuff that is ‘important’ and that I have used for years. GGGRRRrrrrr!!!!!
NYKAREN – We paid off some bills, now I have to re-do our budget. Should be interesting. LOL!!!!!
Becca – I have my ‘yearly physical next month; and, I will find out what my cholesterol levels are. Hopefully losing 40lbs will have brought the ####’s down because I cannot tolerate cholesterol-lowering medications.
Keep your head up, girl! I know that it is difficult to work really hard to do what you did when it worked; and, you still gain weight. I know I have probably put back on the 3.5 lbs I lost last time. Getting closer to a ‘goal’ makes it yo-yo (or it has for me). I’ve had a few ‘melt-downs’ for gaining weight when I have worked so hard to either not gain or hopefully ‘lose’.
They’re talking about ‘how to stop robot-calls’ on your phone on the news. I yell “Robot” into the phone, when I answer it. But, I have more fun answering it, “Fire Department; where’s your emergency?” (That is when it shows up as being ‘out-of-state’. Occasionally, I have actually ‘gotten a person on the phone that really gets funny.
More problems with Atlanta Interstates; this time, one buckled up (maybe due to a gas line); one car involved and one motorcyclist who is in ‘critical’ condition after landing 200 feet away. They are continuously working on it or making it wider; or moving it over a block.
Hated that the Ninja Dad got hurt on his way up the Wall; had to be taken off by EMTs; then his son, Ninja Son, couldn’t make it up the Wall either. A couple of women finished. You’d have to be really fit and focused to do those events.

M in Oz: Tired just reading about your cycling.
Well ... I've been training for this since about Christmas, gradually building up the distances I cycle etc. so it wasn't too bad. I did make a couple mistakes ... I need to work on my core. My back kind of gave out a bit. And I forgot that the protein shake I had in the morning of each event had milk as it's main ingredient. Milk does not sit well with me.
On the bright side, I was planning to eat a whole lot of food this weekend ... but didn't ... because of that milk. So that should be good for the waistline.

Where is Re in TX? Missing her.
Oh, Becca we have all been there. As a matter of fact I am now, maybe not as seriously but I am. I have been eating right on track, doing some type of exercise for at least 45-60 minutes a day. Monday is my weigh-in day. Last Monday I stayed exactly the same as I had been the week before. I almost cried. I truly felt like I had lost a t least pound or two. So I ate all day Monday. Told myself I'd get back on track Tuesday. By Tuesday I felt miserable with a sinus infection and just threw caution to the wind and ate junk all week. I had family and neighbors for dinner yesterday and ate junk all day long. Oh yes, I weighed this morning, logged the nasty gain on my chart and knew it was my own fault. I too ask myself will I never learn. But I can truly answer YES, I have learned. Before I would have just gave it up and kept going. Today I said, okay that was last week and I'm back on track today. The best part of all is I KNOW this is right where I want to be.
Biggest (((hug))) ever. You got this.
