Joyce - I am enjoying the kitten... as is Corey. She's a handful, for sure, and gently pushing her toward socially acceptable ways of expressing her excitement is pretty much the order of the day. I just find it fascinating that litterbox training literally took one try, and she's faithful to it. Cats are pretty cool that way.
Sue in WA, and everyone who commented on the paintings, thank you! I did not sell any of mine, but one of my pieces--the clef painting--was chosen for the traveling show, and will be displayed (and still shown as for sale) in various institutions in town for the next month or two, a week in each place. (Edit--just picked up my paintings, and the coffee shop owner kept the sunflower and the mountains, also still displayed for sale, so who knows?)
I got a very interesting phone call from the gallery owner to tell me not to be discouraged, which tickled me. I've done this for two years, and some of these people have been at it for literally decades. And art is such a subjective thing! I didn't, don't, won't paint in order to sell. Painting is very nearly therapy for me. If someone actually likes it enough to pay money for it, that's fine. If they don't, that's OK, too.
Love y'all,

Paula - how shocking for you husband to have his buddy drop dead. At least the guy was doing something he loved to do and was with friends...
Somebody was saying a couple of days ago how much they enjoyed looking at well-plated food. There is a thread on MFP where people post pictures of their food. It's interesting to drop in once in awhile and see what people eat. Much of it is beautifully plated: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/823358/what-do-your-meals-look-like-show-me-pictures/p494
Barbie Awesome stats, as usual! You are an inspiration.
Sharon Lethbridge That's a great selfie! Concerning passive aggressive crap at work, I am fortunate not to have a toxic workplace environment now, but about 15 years ago I felt oppressed as soon as I arrived at work. I finally had to transfer out of that particular location, which solved my problem. It's way too stressful to deal with that every day at work. It affects productivity, quality of work, and morale profoundly. Sorry for you...
KJ Maybe you should hard-wire those alarm clocks to some of your husband's body parts...LOL!

Paula Y: I am so sorry for your husband and his surviving friends. As for the man who died-- he died preparing to do one of the things he liked best and in the company of good friends. That seems like a blessed way to go. Hugs to your husband.
Sharon: Thanks for your support. I hope to do better next time. :flowerforyou: Great selfie of you and your brother. He sure has the look of a cowboy right out of the westerns on TV.
Lisa: You have a great attitude about your paintings.
I wasn't able to go to yoga yesterday because of other priorities, but I plan to go today. We used to have yoga available three mornings a week. Now it is available every weekday morning. Yay!

Still HOT here , around 88° . DH has been working outside
, but is now in the shower. The landscaping men are coming tomorrow and we are not sure how they will take away the shed while all the stuff is in it. It has a wooden floor with masses of pots etc on it. I suppose they will just shift stuff around. They are coming on what could be the hottest June day for 40 years. :noway:
I have made kakadi, hibiscus flower tea. I like it cold with fizzy water, no sugar. Too sour for DH.
Also made a rabbit stew. It's gently cooking. Will eat outside again I hope.
Paula - What a dreadful shock! Hugs for your DH.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -

Paula ... I agree with Katla when she said "As for the man who died-- he died preparing to do one of the things he liked best and in the company of good friends. That seems like a blessed way to go." I hope that will give comfort to your husband and his friends. In an age when so many die from the effects of prolonged illnesses ... there's something to be said for quick passings.5

Heather, if it helps any, it's going up to 97 degrees today here. Last week, we hit a high on Wednesday of 115 degrees. But bluntly, after about 95 degrees, it's kind of a moot point.
Lisa in West TX - looking forward to Alaska over the 4th of July...where the temps are supposed to be in the 60s the whole time we're there... *sigh* A girl can dream, you know...

Our annual family reunion is this coming weekend. Always the last Fri-Sat-Sun that falls in June. We have a family dinner, meeting and auction on Saturday afternoon.
We've been camping out for reunion since 1970. I'm secretary again for a 2nd term and I've been the family historian since 1985. The minutes of the last meeting and the annual newsletter have been distributed this year. And the treasurer has distributed his report.
My husband, my mom and myself won't camp. We'll be at our lake house nearby and travel over to the campgrounds daily. I wanted to rent a camper this year and stay at the campground this year but didn't get it done and my uncle, aunt and cousin will be staying with us at the lake house. My uncle is Mama's younger brother (84) and her only living sibling. He was just here visiting us in May. There were 12 kids in their family. 8 girls and 4 boys. Sometimes Mama feels like her sisters ran off and left her. They were her best friends. My grandmother asked us to keep the reunion going. She passed away in 1993 at age 92. We have a good time. I'm looking forward to it,
I'm late getting a few things finished for the auction. Mana made some jewelry and I need to finish off a newspaper basket.
Mama sounded wheezy - so I gave her a breathing treatment. She doesn't need to get out today in this heat - so I'll take her 2pm hair appointment. Her hair will be fine. Mine is a little shaggy though.
We'll probably head to the lake house tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy your day.

Just stumbled onto this group. I have lost and gained the same 3 pounds for a few months now. It has left me feeling defeated. I need a fresh start. I have to work on my post dinner snacking and my weekend eating out.7

Lisa - it's supposed to be 96+ or so in London tomorrow. Here around 90. Very few people have AC. The nights are a bit cooler in the countryside than in London too. It's scheduled to break tomorrow night. Strangely I've been sleeping much better than usual. Less alcohol and I've been trying to nap less - none at all for two days and only 10 minutes today. Long naps just destroy my night time sleep.
DH is a lizard and loves it. I used to dread summers when I was fat, but I cope a lot better now. When I first met DH I noticed that, when it was hot, his skin temperature was really HOT, while mine was cool. He felt cool and I was boiling inside. It was all about the layer of blubber, I guess. I'm still not a heat lover, but I can survive now.
I have consistently kept my alcohol consumption under the government guidelines for around eight weeks now, sometimes considerably under. That makes me very happy. I did not want alcohol controlling me.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
