This is the debate section... people tend to want sources to know what arguments they're up against and if there is a scientific basis to a claim.
If the sources provided are not convincing on a scientific level, it will be pointed out and the argument disregarded until proper sources are provided.
Also, if someone makes a claim (like keto diets kill children) then it's up to that person to back that claim up. This means learning to wet your sources. The link to diannethegeek's post is a good starting point to learn how to do that.
Edit: I hate autocorrect...
Stating source are ike quoting statistics just having thrm didn't automatically validate your points judt like not having them should not automatically mean the point is completely invsiladated... and OMG the title of this thread is "What are your unpopular opinions about health / fitness?" You can't resonable demand sources for this.
Says can't demand source, yet posts sources like "thepaleomom". SMH, another misinformed mouth breather3 -

Not because of outside vs. inside.
I use treadmills to practice hill running (where I live it is flat) or speed intervals, so perhaps if something like that.
I think treadmill on 0 at the same speed is less work (although not such a difference I think it matters).
Treadmills for me are mainly a necessarily evil if I need to do some hills or weather is terrible (as it has been here).0 -

I certainly don't think I'm clever.
I come here to learn more, I read the links and evidence people give me so that I can expand my knowledge.
People are not being passive aggressive. They are debating and trying to educate.6 -

I have difficulty following your posts because of the typos, but regardless, one thing that I find helpful when joining a new community is to get a feel for the vibe and the general flow of the dialogue. This community, especially in this section, is heavily focused on science and well vetted sources. Things that are not well vetted, are often flagged as "woo". It is important, with so much misinformation prevalent about diet, nutrition, weight loss, etc that it's not perpetuated on this site.
That said, you're right this thread is unpopular opinions, but you should expect that people will still challenge your opinions and ask for it to be backed up. And again, many of us asking you for better sources about your claims regarding keto and children are not actually keto followers.10 -
sure you all know but wants things devolve to personal attacks its over for your credibility.... passive aggressive language is one thing but if your only reply in an insult well. ... good for you6

God's sake I've tried to change the subject twice now time to just let it go....0

Asking you for well vetted sources is not passive aggressive. Again, this is a debate forum and this is standard expectation to provide sources and defend your claims, the burden of proof is on those making the claims.7 -
Re keto, I actually think that most of the people here who do keto DON'T have their children on keto diets, and personally I wouldn't (not doing keto, no kids, so sort of irrelevant).
I doubt people who do keto on average have kids who eat less healthfully than other kids.
Also not aware of any spate of child deaths from the recent popularity of keto. Hard to imagine that would not be sensationalized.2 -

This!^ She is right. In debate you man up or you get heat. Provide credible sources or you will be dismissed.
Have you heard the saying "If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen"?4 -
How about this one..... i think it was a mate.... the idea was that eating celery and carrots burns more energy then you gain.... this was a white ago and im sure this has subce bern confirmed as a myth.3

Myth. Dumb idea that gets passed around by wannabee nutritionists.1 -
Areeeee '"standard expectation"..... here we go again. .... let it go!6

no I'm not going to go through the infant mortality records from 1918 just to demonstrate a point.8

Unless you are eating offal, which most don't seem to be I believe you will be short of your micro nutrients.
It worries me to see so many new posters this week thinking keto is the way to eat to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way.
I haven't seen as many things like ACV and raspberry ketones as in last January's on MFP but I agree the keto craze has a whole new set of followers in early 2018. I'm on a Facebook group for the InstantPot (pressure cooker) and it's astonishing to me how many of those folks are starting on the keto bandwagon too. Where's the new buzz coming from, any idea?
Redditt seems to be one of the main sources. They keep mentioning the Dietdoctor site also.
Scary thing is that they are even questioning that you have to watch your calories.
Just what the obesity crisis needs.
In that same FB page I was referring to, there have been quite a few people asking about how to lose weight cooking with the InstantPot, or any "InstantPot Diets". Every single post like that yields dozens of "try low carb!" and "keto, it's awesome!" Posts and very few, if any, mention of watching calories, eating all foods in moderation, etc. I got into a somewhat heated debate with one poster who told me that CICO was outdated, that no one who loses weight with a calorie deficit can be successful long term because it trashes your metabolism, that keto overcomes the hormones that prevents us from losing weight and then told me that I might try looking into some actual science once in a while. At that point I just closed my laptop and sighed. Not one, single, person besides me tried to challenge her misguided beliefs.
Scary.
And the thing is it is really just starting to peak, so like the low fat demonising I think we may have a few more years of this to come yet.
Agreed. I have stated this before on these boards and I'll say it again here: I think a good many people flocking to keto who are satiated by that way of eating could achieve the same benefit and eat a more balanced diet by simply doing low/moderate carb. I don't see the need to be so drastic with the macro balance at the expense of vegetables. If they don't want to eat grains or sugar, that's fine. It's the vegetable/micronutrient intake that I question.
Granted, there are some people who are very active who can eat keto and get in a higher amount of carbs than the 20 or so net grams you see most people talking about, but they're not the norm.5 -
everyone has a very different reaction to pretty much everything where changing the default metabolic process is concirned. For that reason im a fan of specifically tailored forms of restriction.13

Source for this? Dare I ask?
It's not clear that you understand the purpose of the debate forum, or that you even understand what a debate is.
To counter your assertion:

Everyone needs caloric restriction. Everyone has different preferences and what satiates and makes it easy for someone to adhere to a method of restriction will vary, but equating that to "changing the default metabolic process" No.6
