This is a much better story than poor @cburke8909 who has people throw eggs at him while he runs. Maybe he needs a dog?6 -
Just went to order a new pair of the Vomero 12s, and find that they're now available in all black. So I ordered two pairs instead, because y'know, I want to wear the same shoes that Batman would wear when he goes out for a run.
You need to wear them with these socks. Cape socks totally make you run faster.

Maybe the trucker just had some extra biscuits for whatever reason and decided to share them with the first dog he saw?
I did that recently when I changed my diet back to zero carb again... I had a bunch of nuts and peanut butter left over, so I gave a bag or bottle to homeless people as I saw them. I just gave out the last jar of peanut butter on Sat. (along with a couple of plastic spoons) to a homeless person and am down to only 1 bag of pecans for the next. When my cats die, I will probably give the leftover food to homeless kitties.3 -

I need those socks.3 -
I’m far from embracing the suck at the moment. My Scotland trip didn’t involve the running I wanted it to, and the calf twinge is still there (even though it seems to go whilst running).
And now I have a chest infection. I had the beginnings of it last week, just coughing, then a couple of nights waking up coughing. Managed to get out in between the raindrops on the weekend to our annual Harbour Festival to do a bit of dancing, but that pushed me back over the edge.
Now I’m still feeling rough, still coughing, and still not running.
Thing is – I am running a Half Marathon on Sunday. I considered pulling out because of the calf, and now because of the cough, but I know me, and if I pull out now, I’ll ALWAYS pull out when I’m feeling a bit rough. So on Sunday I will be going for a nice walk in the countryside. Dressed as a Roman Centurion. Complete with gold hotpants. Believe me, I don’t have the buttocks for gold hotpants. I might trot a little. But I will be there, in a Half Marathon, if only for the bling.
I must therefore be a runner. Because I am still going ahead, despite not having trained recently, not having even RUN recently, with a chest infection, just because it might be a laugh. For 13ish miles.

I wasn't able to update yesterday, but I did get my run in yesterday morning. I got up earlier than usual, but it was already hot and it was pretty humid too. I really enjoyed the run though. I had my family reunion this weekend and the run was both a nice stress relief, and a good balance for the food and alcohol of the weekend. I considered running out to the lake since the family reunion was near home, but I decided to just go run at the park where I usually run on Sunday's. I didn't really want to run on the main busy highway and the gps showed another way to run, but I wasn't familiar with those roads and I didn't really want to be out in the middle of nowhere. Maybe next year I'll scope it out ahead of time. I am on track to reach my goal for July. I may not run this evening since I have so much to do that didn't get done over the weekend, but I am going to try. But I did sign up for a 5K on Saturday, so I will get in an extra day and shouldn't have any problem getting 9.9 miles in this week.

Off to a roaring start for the week because I delayed my long run until today. It was a pretty good decision because it was quite a bit cooler today, just 66 degrees, although still in the range of 90% humidity. I am still in Iowa, so did the Iowa River Corridor Trail from Coralville into Iowa City and back. It felt tough today, and my wireless headphones quit on me just 1/3 way in. I had to just listen to my phone through the speakers because there was no way I was making over an hour of running in silence today. The trail was pretty empty on a Monday morning so I wasn't bothering anyone thank goodness. Stopped for an iced coffee at my favorite coffee place after as a reward.
Heading back home tomorrow so not sure I'll get another run in - I probably have time in the morning but don't really want to put sweaty clothes in my bag. Which reminds me I saw that some airport has added a running track - just looked it up and it's in Japan apparently. Who wants sweaty people to get on a plane? They better also have showers.

Well your Nom de cursus is WAY cooler than mine.
Which is just Haas. Honoring my great grandmother Sylvia Haas. "Come on Haas" . Maybe I should do "Cursus Haas" for my race registrations.
Anyone else run with an alter ego?
ETA cursus is latin for running. How approps.1 -

Get a mastiff or something, and I bet people will be much less likely to bother you2 -
@garygse Ditto what @Orphia said. Love it!
@JessicaMcB and @katharmonic Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I can find a small something to clip to my fuel belt.1 -

@PastorVincent I think I need a dog that likes to run but will also demand respect. I'm thinking Doberman or German Shepard.2

Yeah, that's one complaint that I've read about those shoes is that the wide width color choice is non-existent (not sure if it's the same for other shoes in their line-up or not, as I only ever get the Vomeros).0 -

99 times out of 100, I end up leaving shoe stores with New Balance as they seem to be the only reasonable company on the market making wide width shoes.

Back from college tours and vacation time with Skip. She loves the University of South Alabama and hopefully she can go there. Their communications/broadcasting program is exactly what she is looking for and the Director of Communications and her hit it off big time.
Got up this morning and my Garmin is dead, not dead battery but dead and will not charge. I'm so sad because (1) I love my garmin (2) I haven't downloaded the info online for a few weeks so it's lost and (3) I lost what I ran this week to update (though it wasn't much). I do have to say it was freeing to run this morning with no beeps or times and I impressed myself with my guess on a 4 mile route, ended up being 4.1
7/1 - travel day
7/2 - unpack truck day
7/3 - 4 miles
7/4 - more unpacking
7/5 - exhausted
7/6 - 3 miles
7/7 - 8K 5 miles the 2nd of the 3 race in the Grand Prix series
7/8 - 3 miles - very tired legs
7/9 - rest day, more unpacking day
7/10 - 6 miles
7/11 - 4 miles
7/12 - rest day
7/13 - 2 miles (I ran 1.5 and walked 1.5 so I'm giving myself 2 LOL)
7/14 - 6 miles
7/15 - garage sale zero
7/16 - 3 miles at Millsaps College
7/17 - touring Millsaps then driving to USA in Mobile AL
7/18 - zero but walked a million miles around USA campus
7/19 - 4 miles in Orange Beach FL
7/20 - 23 zero miles busy tanning and boggy boarding ha ha
7/24 - 4 miles
44 out of 80 miles
Not much chance of making my goal, but that's okay I had such a great time with Skip and we walked so much and talked so much it was just an awesome time.
