Back at work today. Heaps of emails. Trying to get organised. So much to do in coming months.
I could do with a nap!4 -
Re – I’m like you (only about 6 years older). I wear short shorts and a light-weight top when I go for my weigh-in. I did not feel like I had lost this last 2 weeks. Felt sort of bloated, actually. But, all the things that should have gone ‘down’ went ‘down’ and the things that are supposed to go ‘up’ went ‘up’ so Estee was proud of me; but, I wasn’t happy with the number on the scale (which had gone up). I know in my ‘head’ that muscle weighs more than fat; but, my ‘eyes’ and my ‘heart’ haven’t gotten there yet. I’ve tried to ‘remember this’; but, when you know you weight more than you did 2 weeks ago … well … just hard to see that number and realize that I’m losing fat. So, at lunch, I just blew it out of the water, food-wise and I also popped for a ‘strawberry shake’. Then, I paid for it all afternoon with an upset stomach (lactose intolerant) and a mild headache. Then when I got to my table, I could have ‘kicked myself’ when I realized ‘hell, Lenora, you could have gotten it WITHOUT the bun’. DUH! I kept looking for the one that came with only a ½ bun, that I did not see the writing on the sign that ‘bun less’ was also available. But, it was sooooo good, just expensive.
Then I went and got my hair cut … several weeks overdue; next time will be when we are in Louisiana, so I’ll get Tami’s co-worker to cut it again. I’m not sure that Tami will have gotten over the ‘fear of cutting her DMnL’s hair – yet’. I went to the 2nd-hand store and bought 3 pair of shorts for what I would have paid for a new pair at Belk’s. YEAH! I’m getting better at this. My thighs are not a pretty sight; but, I just don’t look down. But, getting ‘hit’ in the face by a mirror is a little hard to take. The new shorts are a little longer and look (and feel) better.
I did come home, laid down for a while, and walked on the treadmill.
I’m a nut when it comes to Reese cups.
I use Microsoft Office Outlook 2013; but, won’t change unless I absolutely have to. My laptop and desktop have auto-updates; but, if I have any issues I will just call my guys at Tech 2 Us. They do it all. Technical support, Back-up, and Security and I can call them during their office hour and get any and all taken care of it. BUT, it is a little pricey. Since I am so ‘idiot’ savvy on my computer … I need all the help I can get. Working for the government and being told ‘don’t even TRY to fix an issue; turn it off, call us and we’ll be there later today. The nice thing about that was I didn’t get blamed for anything (other than not doing a daily backup). I can open multiple screens at once; and, even had what is called Cortana (which is a search engine that takes me to Bing). That is nice when someone (like Heather) who ‘lives across the pond’ says something that I have ‘no idea what she is talking about’ … usually ‘food names’.
Lanette – I have ‘bookmarked’ the recipe link; so I ‘should’ be able to open it up and print out a recipe whenever I need to do so. I love my ‘pressure cooker’ – it just isn’t an “Instant Pot”. Got my at K-Mart, on sale, and used my K-mart points, so I paid less than $50 for it. I thought I was getting the big one; it is a 6 Quart and I guess that is big enough for what I will use it for.
Planning on maybe passing through Texas the 3rd week of the month; Will’s birthday is 8/31; and, we’ll be there that week. Still have not made ‘plans’ for when we will be leaving yet.
Tere – Beautiful!!!!
Becca – The busted can of biscuits is exactly how I felt today! It was ‘laughable’. I just needed to actually ‘see’ it.
Sue – Thanks, we’ll be doing as much as we can ‘pack in’ daily. I just hate that Louis will ‘insist’ on doing all the driving. It’s been ‘years’ since he has allowed me to drive on an interstate. Partly, because of history of seizures (although controlled my medication). I don’t blame him, I guess. It also gets him to take me to Macon to see my PsycheMD. I will NOT under any set of circumstances see any one of them here in the SW GA area (that might be connected to the city hospital in Albany). They have bought up (or put out of business) all the small little town hospitals. It is ‘supposedly’ the ‘non-profit-hospital-with-a-heart’. NAHDA! One MD ‘blew’ the whistle on them about ‘off-shore’ accounts.
Welcome to all the ‘newbies’. Condolences for those of you who have lost loved one [even fur babies]. Congrats to all who have made their goals. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all the ones going through difficult times … especially Allie.

Hey my ladies!! I am lounging on husband's ugly alligator green lazy boy chair awaiting for 9pm to come round. Husband is playing a video game. When we came home after I donated, I promptly zonked out on the bed. I am a wet noodle after I give!
When I awoke 2 hrs later I actually pulled dinner together! Made cube steak for the guys, and spaghetti. I think I inhaled mine. I am so hungry when I wake up after my donation doped naps!
Tomorrow is sons last meeting with the recruiters in the afternoon. With all our driving to them, they better darn well come and pick him up on his ship out day ( 26th). Organizational wise they are kind of all over the place. Drives my husband batty, because before we had kids he was a recruiter.
After the meeting is over we will have dinner, then continue driving to Hotsville Central, or Boardman Oregon. It will be so nice seeing my sister, meeting her husband, and seeing their home. My dear husband is not keen on going, especially until Sunday morning! I told him I don't ask much from him, ( this is when I see him smile and do the eye roll thing), anyway, I said I need to see her, she wants to see us....( this is when husband interjects asking me why).... Oh sheesh... I then just say tongue and cheekly, you will go and that's the end to it! Husbands!
Love all the pics people have been posting!!! Keep'em coming!
Night night!

Becca Love that. "Take what you need" - I will take tenderness for my Farley - all 7 lbs of him. Thanks to my wonderful friends for all the support today. My partner said Farley has done pretty well this afternoon and evening while I was at work, so I am thinking our vet was right on target about what was wrong. So grateful.
Here is an Olivia fix:
Going to eye doctor in a.m. for evaluation of my enormous floater - seeing retinal specialist to be sure it's just a vitreous thing and to see if ANYTHING can be done. It drives me crazy. Evaluation will take 3-4 hours and will probably be exhausting. Then we take granddaughter and her outdoor kitty to vet for shots and tests. Hoping for healthy outcome for her beloved kitty, who has had no vet care for several years.

Karen, I think it would be cute to see a pic of Olivia and Jauquim together. They would make a darling pair.
When Trinity was a little girl there Christina had a real good friend that had a boy a year younger. They had a lot of play dates and Trinity and Isaih were inseparable. Soon a Trinity was planning her wedding. So this little 5 year old girl had it all planed out, it was going to be at Kings Island which is an amusement park in Onio. All guests would get free lollipops and ice cream. As they grew up, it was t cool to be interested in boys or him interested in girls. Then they moved but was part of the same church affiliation. Well last week at camp they were both volunteers. They spent a lot of time together in groups and by themselves. Found they have a lot in common and enjoyed each other's company. She will be 16 in just a couple of weeks. Where is life's pause button?????

Jet lag AND hot flashes. Lovely combination.
For the past couple weeks, my body has decided it is hot flash and night sweat time. I don't mind too much ... except when I'm tired, because they make me even more tired ... and except when they're accompanied by nausea, because that is really unpleasant.
Today the hot flashes are coming when I'm tired and are accompanied by mild nausea.6 -
Morning Ladies~
I am real sick... nasty nasty cold and cough..can't afford to take time off from work..but will sit in back office and work from there..
and yes I will not make a move without speaking to lawyer .. she is on vacation this week.
Tomcat is no longer sucking up to me, so I am guessing the Elena thing and him getting his subpeona for Deposition has done that.. there is no screaming or yelling, we talk about bills, dogs etc... but nothing else.
Will not go down to see my FIL , dont want to get anyone sick, so will stay away..but will call and let them know..
Olivia is such a cutie xoxox7 -
Tere - Gorgeous!
And I Olivia. Aaahhhhh!
Cooked beets (biggish ones) and quinoa while I was exercising this morning. (Not together) Going to have a quinoa, giant pourgouri and beet salad for lunch, with my Greek yoghurt. Oh yummy! DH will have a ham sandwich.
Going to type out some memoir this afternoon. I promise.
Shorts! Can't wear them. I have really horrible knees, especially my left one, which has been a mess since I was 16. It is quite distorted. I am knock kneed. I do knee strengthening exercises every day to keep it usable, but it is not pretty. Can't do a lot of the things I'd like to, like dancing or tennis, but I can walk on it ok.
I have also inherited my mother's jelly thighs. Of course, I am slimmer than she was, but the texture is still lumpy and saggy. I like my body much better covered up!

I don't wear shorts or capris even in warm weather. I like to be covered and especially don't like to have my legs touch strange furniture. I am fortunate to live in the PNW where it is rarely terribly hot but even when we traveled in our RV, I wore long pants.
I am up early so I take a long walk before we go to pick up the dogs at 8:00. We got home a little too late last night to get them so I used the unexpected time to do some chores without any dog walking interruptions.

Machka - welcome home, what a long flight! So cool you skipped a day. Hope you are settling back in OK to your winter time.
Thanks!
Yes, we skip a day on the way back to Australia, but on the way there, we have a day that seems to last forever.
We left Australia on Friday at about 1 pm, and about 20 hours later, landed in Canada on Friday at about 3 pm.
It is a bit disconcerting.

Regarding shorts ... love them!
I wear cycling shorts, of course, but while we were in Canada, I spent the hot weeks in casual shorts and short skirts.
My 75-year old mother still wears shorts and looks all right in them.
I posted that photo of me with my grandmother, and I'm wearing shorts there.
I would have been happy in shorts today with all the hot flashes. I dressed for the 3C temps in the morning, but by noon, I was melting. Layers are the key, I think.

Watching the Tour de France coverage. Wish I could stay up and watch to the end but just too tired.

And back to logging food again. I will be over this week, but next week I plan to be within my calories again. I find it works better for me to kind of ease into things that way.
I have been logging my exercise all along while we were away, although the days kind of got mixed up what with the time zone differences. So I'm continuing to log now that we're back.
Yesterday we had a decent amount of energy and did a 21 km bicycle ride in the chilly and rain back here in Tassie, but today we're both really tired, so there was only a little bit of walking.

drkatiebug wrote: »I bought the exact Instant Pot that Becca posted today. I thought I wanted the 6 quart, too, but all the reviews said they were glad they got the bigger one. I hope I don't regret it. Did y'all know you can cook cheesecake in that thing? Oh, my! Now I need some healthy recipes so there will be no time to try cheesecake. I couldn't find anything else to tempt me on Amazon, but I'll probably shop some more before it's over.
We had a bit of a crisis today. The glue gave out on our master bathroom mirror - 88 inches by 42 inches. The towel rack on the right wall and makeup mirror on the left wall "caught" it and kept it from breaking. We duct taped it to the wall until a glass and mirror company could come take care if it. They made an emergency call. Now we have to let it set, then do touch up painting where the duct tape pulled the paint off the wall.
My cousin Deb is still breathing. It's day 8 with no food or drink. So incredibly sad.
Glad you the mirror did not cause any major damage. Prayers for cousin.
Tere beautiful picture.

What an adorable little one! Hope all goes well with the floater evaluation. I have several and you are right that they are so annoying especially in bright light. I sent you an email re: visit in VA.

Leigh in France: We're hoping to see our son for a little while today before he has to go back to the east coast. I miss having him near enough that we can see him frequently. It had been nearly a year since we last saw him when we visited Virginia. The time we spent a few days ago was golden. Every minute is something I treasure and I'm hoping for some minutes today.
Lanette: DH has an ipad and it is his best assistant. He reads books on it, chats with family, and stays in touch with what is important to him. I just asked him and he says he simply deletes objectionable pop-ups. I don't seem to have issues on my laptop. I wonder what it is that makes the ipads so much more vulnerable.
Felicia: We've enjoyed Washington State ferry rides over the years but have never taken the one from Bremerton to Seattle. I don't think it is on our short list of things to do now. DH is having so much trouble with motion sickness that he won't even walk down the boat ramp to stand on our dock.
Heather: We tried really hard to like quinoa because it is a nutrition powerhouse, but it just doesn't please us. I feel like I'm trying to eat bird seed and don't like it. I love brown rice and sweet potatoes, though. :flowerforyou:
Karen: Sending good thoughts for your pup. Our DDIL has a 16 year old pound pup that has been the constant companion she needs for years. Our son has to travel for his job frequently and Sammy is always there for her. I often think of our dogs as guardian angels.
Re: You are doing great. Onederland is a nice place to be.
Tere in RVA: You are beautiful, now and in the past. :flowerforyou:
Becca: I hope your trip to Boardman goes well.
Ginger: The boot/sandals are hilarious. Thanks for sharing!
Chris in MA: Prayers heading your way. :flowerforyou:
Allie: I'm going hunting for Heather's YouTube clip. I am curious about it. It seems to have helped you put things into perspective and that is very good for you.
I had a late meeting last night and although I'm tired, I couldn't stay in bed and get the rest I need. Hoping to hold things together today. There may be a nap in the near future for me.

Hello, Stylish Sisters!
Cheri – Hi Sugar! How you doing?
Hugs for Everybody!
Re in TX
Hi Re! So glad to see ya here again!
Things are really good at the moment. Seemed to have found my happy place finally. Took a bit but I got there and am not letting anyone take it away! Weight loss has been slow in terms of the number on the scale. Keep reminding myself it's just a number and I am on a journey. Eating well, working out well, mental health on course! I keep busy with my book clubs, crocheting and quilting for Project Linus, doing the homemaker thing and other random events that pop up. Enjoy having our son live nearby and seeing him on occasion and getting to know him better in his young adulthood. So much of his youth was focused on his sister that this time together is precious! Our daughter in Va is doing quite well and we will be visiting her at the end of the month. And getting to see Karen in VA. The hubs was given an unprecedented promotion (for being employed less than a year) and a salary increase that is greatly appreciated. He is happy which is good all around for this family.
Thanks for asking Re in TX! I read posts twice a day on here so am following everyone's journey! So proud of so many of you. Very blessed to have you in my life. The hubs always asks "How are the ladies doing today?!".

Karen in VA – I too have a huge floater…when it happened (and it was sudden) about 5 years ago, my optometrist told me there was a procedure where the vitreous liquid is replaced with saline. At subsequent appointments, he said they often do resolve – or perhaps permanently settle. I think mine has to some extent. Driving in the dark, especially rainy nights, was the pits as vision in that eye was terrible. Since retiring, I don’t have to drive in those conditions but I notice I don’t have to “blink it out of the way” when reading or staring at the computer screen like I used to. Good luck and please let us know what you find out. SO HAPPY you get more time with Farley! Olivia looks so healthy and happy, I want to kiss those chubby cheeks!
Tere – totally, totally gorgeous photo. Your soup sounds delicious, hope you can find an easy alternative for the folks who don't like shellfish.
Joyce, glad Mr. M is doing better – excited for you about the landscaper coming next week! Make sure to post pictures!!
Pip – cute photo of you kids.
Chris – prayers going out your way for a good outcome.
Dr. Katiebug – Amazing that mirror didn’t break, glad you could get it rescued.
RE – so great you are still going downward! You have definitely formed healthy habits and like you said, health is more important than being a supermodel. I think you look marvelous!!
Felicia – don’t blame you a bit for not wanting to drive in Seattle. Next time I go there I plan to take the train. It will be good to have your boys back! Boy, I don’t blame you for wishing you’d had those teeth pulled. Hope your dentist gives painless shots; I dread that more than the procedures.
Barbie – it will be so nice to get your pups this morning and back into your routine. Good news on Jake and using the cellphone for the pacemaker to “talk to HQ”. I’m with you on wearing shorts.
Regarding shorts, I sometimes wear loose gym shorts around the house and yard or for walks in the summer, but won’t wear them to town. It’s either sweats (which is dressed up for our Walmart!) or jeans – pressed jeans if working or going to meetings. First, I don’t have any shorts that fit well. Second, I too don’t like the feel of the backs of my knees/calves on furniture-scratchy, hot, sweaty = icky. Third, I keep forgetting to shave my legs. Ah, retirement!
Regarding my computer woes, it’s only this old Dell laptop that is having issues and it might be related to the fact that I upgraded Windows Explorer a while back. DH fiddled with it yesterday and it looked like that annoying newsfeed had been eliminated. It’s back this morning. I’ve found a temporary way around it. I might have DH uninstall Windows and install Linux or another open source operating system and ditch Explorer and install Firefox. I already have “Open Office” rather than MS Office on one of the old computers in our office and it’s perfectly fine for my needs and works well with Windows documents and spreadsheets.
When DH did landscaping in Seattle, he actually worked on Bill Gates' parents place. He and the crew used to amuse themselves by going thru their trash. Found girly magazines and such. He said Bill Sr. was a pompous *kitten* but mom Mary was a darling and would bring them iced tea when it was hot. DH should write a book.
OK ladies, lots to do today.
Lanette
Cool (45 this morning!) SW WA State. Love the cool nights and daily highs in the upper 70’s! No rain in sight.

Karen in Virginia – Olivia’s eyes are so dark; like our youngest granddaughter’s. It will be interesting to see her when her hair comes in. All 3 of my granddaughters were born with a head full of hair. So, unless I see pink or a bow on a baby, I rarely assume it is a boy. My oldest had a head full of hair; DYS had hair, just not a whole lot of it; but, by the time we cut it the first time, he had a head full and it curled up on the ends. He also had a black eye when he had his year-old picture. Had fallen against the FP hearth; but, the photographer was able to feather it and cover most of it; but, it is still quite visible.
Joyce – I haven’t found a pause button, yet – and DOGD called last night and said, she had cried because the realization that graduation is in December and she doesn’t know what to do. She had to make her own MD appointment yesterday and had never done that. I find it hard to believe she’s gone 4 years between her physical for college. Said they ought to teach students how to make appointments, do a budget, learn how to use a checkbook, named off so many things that over years we’ve learned. Worried about her boyfriend and taking the necessary tests to get in the PT school. That’s the ‘next’ biggie in their lives.
Ginger – Guess I won’t be able to bring my cowboy boots. Just can see this happening.
Allie – Sorry you’re sick; but, with all the stress you’ve been going through, you probably got sick because your immune system was low.
WOW! That link that Lanette sent was TomCat personified. RUN!!!!!
Heather – I will I could have liposuction on my thighs; but, that isn’t going to happen, so I guess I will just have to live with the lumpiness. The shorts I bought yesterday are longer and look better than the short-shorts I wear on weigh-in day. They are not very comfortable (the short-shorts); but if I wore regular shorts they’d probably make me weigh more. Wearing them is about as close as I can get to wearing nothing at all.

My youngest at his middle school graduation. Isn't he adorable!!! Came across it an had to share. The 26th is coming way too fast. Not ready, never could be honestly... But I will reorganize apartment so that well distract me!
