Went with the church I sing at to visit a Church called the House of Hope.
Picture of the spirit of Hope. It was made clear she is not an angel. The church was named by a sailor and that is why she is holding an anchor.
Picture of one one the many stain glass windows. This is the one of Jesus healing others.
Statue in the memorial garden.
Picture of their garden.
Learned that to be called a gargoyle it needs to have water coming out of it. They were named gargoyles because of the sound the water makes as it came out of their mouths. The church was constructed in 1905 in a Gothic style. Quite glorious.
Filled my spiritual bucket today.5 -
Pictures from the garden tour.
Saying from my favorite garden. Water lily from there too. As it life is good.
Heron was from another garden. I guess they put these there to keep the real herons from eating their Koi.5 -
Raining cats and dogs here! Our Shakespeare in the Park is moving in doors I guess. DD and I will see Romeo and Juliette but she wants to leave before the end---too sad for her sensibilities, lol
Had a long day sitting in interview committee so I was glad to get to the gym right away to work out my angst. It felt good after being cooped up in air conditioned-windowless room, for 4 hours--
My turn in the hot seat is Monday- I've got an interview for that side gig, we'll see how that goes when it's my turn to present myself to a room full of strangers, not as easy by a long shot.

Good afternoon, all!
Well, I am half way to my goal weight -- 25 more pounds to go. I know they will be the most difficult, but I am in this for the long haul. Once I get there, the rest will be vanity. Well, and health. I have high blood pressure, and I have been so frustrated by it. Even when I was not overweight, I had high blood pressure. My mother, who is not overweight, had high blood pressure for years. Hers has resolved, now that she is mid 70's. I keep hoping that mine will resolve itself before I am that age! Then I started reading about "apple" shaped people, and that's definitely me, and the health risks involved in being that shape. I don't think that will ever change -- I am short (5'3") and thick waisted or maybe even zero waisted. I have always been really proud of my thin legs and ankles (I can wear shorts and short skirts, and do), but not feeling so great about that right now.
But I will carry on and do the best I can for my cardiovascular health.

Marcelyn – I can remember making something to wear when I was about the same type of thing. I can sew; but, now-a-days you can just about buy something ready-made for what patterns now cost.
KJ – What I don’t understand is that the BRACI and BRACII (and the BART) tests are not covered by insurance UNLESS you have cancer (unless that has change in the past year). The people that perform these tests have been arguing that it should be, if a woman has history of breast cancer in her family. Both my sisters are breast cancer survivors. Both test came back negative, oldest sister at the suggestion of middle sister had the BART test which also came back negative. So I am not jumping up and down; but, I have a breast exam by my GYN every 6 months and if I feel something when I am examining my breasts, they will get me in to see him, pronto. I do have a few cysts that they watch each time. All my exams have been covered by insurance. Who is your insurance through, if you don’t mind me asking? I know when I went to work as a federal government employee, we had 3 different companies we could chose from. I went for the one that had the best ‘medical’ coverage.
I agree with you about affordable comprehensive health care; it isn’t affordable for most Americans not covered by Medicaid or Medicare. I needed to COBRA my insurance when I was retired on a disability because I had Louis covered under it and my medications (if I did not have insurance) would be unaffordable. Congress has a ‘Cadillac-form’ of insurance and they aren’t going to vote to have it taken away and/or have to take what most other Americans either pay for or are covered by Medicaid or Medicare – but, my medications are not covered by either. I order most of my medications from my mail order company because I can get the ones that are either ‘brand-name’ only or are more expensive at K-Mart’s prices. In other words, if they are going to cost most than $10 for generic or $85 for brand-name, I get them from CVS/Caremark.
When my son and DDnL#1 were looking for insurance because the ‘fine’ for not having it was going to be $1900 ‘each’, they checked into the Affordable Care Act and found it to NOT be affordable. Their monthly premium was going to be over a $1000 and they’d have a $5000 deductible. That is only catastrophic insurance. DDnL#1 got a job with the state because it provided them with ‘good’ insurance and only $250 deductible and would cover Taylor until she reaches the age of 26, provided she has not married. She starts a new job on the 24th and will have good insurance with this new job (will also cover Taylor until she is 26). Making more than from the job she quit a year ago, with an increase up to about $15 or more an hour after 6 months if she is doing the job well. She’s a quick study, so I have no idea that she will do well in the job. Everybody she has talked to says it is a ‘wonderful’ company to work for with very little turnover.
Allie – Whether you want to be there, or not, should be ‘up to your attorney’. One thing about ‘being there’ is ‘if TomCat ‘swears under oath’ about something and be ‘lying about it’ or it might bring up something she’d want to ask. But, it might be that she (attorney) will tell you that you don’t have to be there. But, if the shoe were reversed, I would bet your @$$ that TomCat would attend one, ‘if’ you had been subpoenaed. Just talk it over with you attorney.
Margaret – Our insurance is over $500 a month; but, we don’t dare cancel it even though we are both covered by Medicare (primary).
Some would say it is the greed of insurance companies, or law suits against them. It is expensive for one to not have it or if they are on Medicaid because not only does that makes taxes and premiums for those who ‘do’ pay just have to pay more, especially when you are talking about a lot of city hospital who take in ‘indigent care’. What Medicaid doesn’t pay, they have to figure out a way to recoup, so they charge more for everyone else. It’s a bummer for everybody (except Congress who not only voted their Cadillac insurance in, they also vote raised for themselves). Little wonder that people want to ‘get into politics’ … after one term they get paid their salary FOR LIFE! They ought to have to come back to the communities they live in and get a job (or go back to whatever they were doing as a career – such as an attorney). Politics and politicians all ‘sux’. But, like my Mother used to say, “Life’s not fair.” Now off my venting post.
Cindy – Holding you up ‘in prayer’. Never, ever stop believing in ‘miracles’. My DBnL (oldest sister’s sister). He had a stroke, out of town, they were coming home from vacation when he got up during the night to go to the bathroom. He either had a stroke or a seizure (they did not know which came first). Sister realized that he had not come back to bed and found his face down in a pool of blood. That was on Halloween; he stayed in the hospital through Thanksgiving (3 surgeries), always recognized sister and my nieces. Talked and answered questions correctly. He came home before Christmas and is doing fine. Driving and everything. I don’t think he is playing tennis, might not ever. But, his ordeal was nothing short of a ‘miracle’. Seeing one will ‘blow’ your mind. They went back to Miami this last month to visit with my sister and went by the hospital and visited with those that took care of him.
Allie – Poor TomCat – needs to stop his ‘wailing and howling’ … too bad, so sad … Made his bed, so he can go lie in it.
Dana – We have near 90 degree weather in the mornings; by mid-afternoon the heat index day before yesterday was 108 degrees. I cannot even go out in it. I agree that Obamacare is imploding and it should not be up something that we have to suffer through because the 2 parties just won’t agree on anything. Reason, I hate it all. I don’t remember this type of upheaval when Obama was elected. I’m sure there were some, just not to this hype. WOW! Maybe the Congressmen/women ought to look into what Texas has done for healthcare. You were a pretty young lady; but, you are a ‘beautiful’ more mature lady. Gee, I could probably come up with some pictures of myself when I was younger and thinner.
Lanette – Louis came home, got his shower saying that he was pretty sure his body temperature was way too high.
Margaret – Beautiful pictures!
Becca – At this point I guess I am more of an ‘apple’ shape. I don’t know if I will ‘ever’ get rid of this 4-month pregnancy look or not. I sure hope so!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening my dear Friends,
Katla, that is great that your DS will be visiting again soon.
Joyce, that is wonderful that Christina has such a generous boss. I’m sure she appreciates it.
Heather, congrats on getting some writing done. I know it’s not all easy. (((Hugs)))
NYKaren, good for you on having people over. I hope it doesn’t take another 3 years to do it again.
Kelly, I don’t blame you for the rant! I can’t believe that insurance doesn’t pay for those things in Michigan. I sure hope they do in SC because a good friend of mine is going through exactly that round of testing right now. OMG that is terrible.
Allie, so sorry you are still sick. Glad to hear you will take off a few hours when your friends are there. You deserve it. (later) So glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better. Continue to heal.
M, I love the hat you wore to the symphony. You look great.
Lisa, thanks for checking in. Continued improvement on things you are working on. You know we all send our love and support. ((((Hugs))))
Leigh, that is not a silly NSV at all. I think it’s wonderful when we finally get to see things fit better. Way to go!!!!!
Sue, I hope the cough is gone soon and you are feeling better!!
Dana, I like your throwback photo. I hope others will post some.
Margaret, I love all the photos. The water lilies remind me of a place in Natchez, Mississippi that I visited with my sorority when I was in college.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I went to get my nails done today and it was HOT outside. I’m going to the beach tomorrow so I hope it’s as nice as it was yesterday. I’ve been enjoying watching Wimbledon. We record it and then watch when we can. There have been some really good matches this year.
Sending love, good thoughts and cool sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Hello, Slinky Sweethearts!
It’s another glorious day in Northern TX – HOT, but glorious.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
DJ – 85 to 90 is about the perfect water temp, as far as I am concerned... Love swimming in my Mom’s pool when it’s around 90. I have gotten used to the heat, now... I don’t LIKE it when it’s cool. A far, far cry from the days when (in the Great NW) we used to break out the shorts and T’s when the temps bumped over 65... Love and Sunshine back at ya, Sugar!
Janet – YES... so, so true. I know I am SO much better than I was 2 yrs ago.
Lois -
Lenora – Hugs! I am thinking good thoughts for Taylor.
Ginger– Happy Birthday to your Dad!
Katla – Thanks. DH and I usually eat a full pot of something over the course of two days. But, if I were cooking for just me – that is what I would do for myself. Besides, I don’t find cooking to be a great joy... so, the less times I have to cook, the happier I am.
Allie – Hugs! Glad you are pumping the water. And if your Attorney’s are ok with you not being present, then by all means, go, enjoy the day!
Joyce – Christina’s Boss does take care of her... that’s pretty amazing.
Heather – Sometimes, my freezer gets so full, the seal won’t stick... I am sure everything will be ok... Glad you are feeling more comfortable being present, these days.
Kate - *waves*
NYKaren – Glad you were able to recognize that you were having a good time. Perhaps someday, you will be able to relax and enjoy, anxiety-free. Got my fingers crossed for your interview. Hugs!
Kelly – I just hope you aren’t holding your breath for that affordable health care bill... So far, the folks in DC haven’t been having a lot of success.
Pip -
Margaret – The medical expenses are flat-out ridiculous... and, yes, the hospitals and testing facilities charge the insurance company MORE than they would charge someone with no insurance. It’s because the insurance companies pay (although not what they get billed) and most private individuals don’t. So, they bill the insurance companies to cover the costs of ALL the care they provide to everyone. No wonder our rates are so high... *sighs* Beautiful pictures!
Machka – Groovin’ on that hat... I just wish they didn’t give me a throbbing headache. Great quote!
Cindy – Hugs! I am glad your support system is there for you.
Lisa! – Hello, Sugar. Glad you are hanging in there... Give egg a scratch behind the ear from me. Hugs!
Cheri – Hugs!
Carol -
Leigh – That’s a GREAT NSV... I have been noticing that the normal bath sheet will wind all the way around now... I used to have a gap with the 60 inch beach towel! Love the NSV’s!
SueBDew – Hugs!!
Dana – All those medication changes... they do a number on your body. Hugs! Great picture.
Lanette – It’s nice that you are giving your equipment to a place that can use it to teach others.
Heather – Every little bit will add... eventually, it will be done.
Sue – Oh, those Washington cherries have been awesome this year... mmm.
Felicia – We are cheering for you and your last 25... you might want to add a little strength training to your exercise regime... it will help everything – including that blood pressure problem.... not to mention the overall shape of your body. Hugs!
Rori -
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I decided I had better post the goals data, now... since last night I passed out on the couch before I could update... Oops... Just crawled off to bed... without doing any planks!
Doing great on the calories, this week – today will make the 5th day under budget – but, I only had time for half my strength training, today... and I have been slacking on the planks... guess I had better get my *kitten* together and do some, tonight.
July Goals for the week 7/9 – 7/15
400 calories under budget 5X: OXXXX
Weights/Abdominals 3X: O/X
Planks 3X: OOO
Hugs for Everybody!

About the hat ... thanks!
I got the red one for a work 1920s Theme party, but really like it for going out as well.
Then about a year later I got a black one. I'm keeping an eye out for one in blue now. I never used to be a hat person, but turns out I like them!

Re - Thanks
Machka - Nice hat ... is your hair down to your waist? The longest my hair has been was when I had a "Farah Fawcett" haircut ... I think that was when it was blond, or streaked. Something I did with a 'product' that was fairly new on the market at the time.
Found an easy way to BOLD a word! Double left click and then hit BOLD icon! Was a surprise to me.

It is down to my waist now, but about 6 weeks ago, I had a lot cut off. I do that about once a year or maybe once every 2 years. I've had long hair since my early 20s.
This was my hair in October ... and it had grown several more inches beyond that before I had it cut 6 weeks ago.
I'll probably let it grow that long again.

Margaret isn't it wonderful when you can 'have your bckey filled' at church. Especially if you are singing. Singing in my church choir is so important to me. Brings me joy in my heart. I don't know if anyone els gets joy but I do. I love stayed glass windows. I lov to take pictures of church steeples in sunlight, dusk, twilight, storms, etc.
Matcha, my hair is the exact opposite. I want it short, as short as it can be but my fat face does need some body to it. My husband hates the day every 6 weeks when I get it cut.
I guess. Hav told you ladies how precious my kitten is?
Allie, always thinking about you. Think about the res of you especially if you are tracing, have problems etc. but am always worried for Allie but she has grown so and am just as proud as all the rest of you are. But Tom is unpredictable and right now he is hurting and wants consoling and Allie has always been that person.

If I were to ever have to cut it all off (I've had precancer twice, with the threat of chemo, etc.) or if I ever decided I had enough of long hair, I think I'd cut it really short ... like maybe an inch long all over my head or something.
I have just enough curl in my hair to be really annoying when it is shorter. Longer, I can keep the curl under control ... but shorter, my hair just ends up standing on end or curling the wrong way entirely or whatever, and I spend hours trying to style it.

Hello, Ladies
I am back from vacation and trying my hardest to get back on track. I missed you all and thought of you often.
Karen in Virginia - How is it possible that Olivia is even cuter than she was.
Heather - What is pourgouri? I still avoid mirrors so occasionally I go out with something on my face.
I'm glad you are making progress on the memoir.
Chris - what is happening? Sending prayers.
Cindy - Praying for you.
Leigh - It is the little things that count, great NSV.
Dana - Great photo of you!
Margaret - Loved all the photos.
Jumped in about Page 21. Glad to be at home, not so glad to be at work. Great time in Saskatchewan,
Alberta and British Columbia. Brought the grandchildren home with us. I'll tell you all about it next time.
Glad to be back

My mother is going through that next week too. All the best!2 -
Kate UK - Hope all goes well and speedily!
DH had a bad night last night. I'm sure it is holiday related (in 3 weeks time) . He was awake almost all night reading. I woke up at 4.30 am, saw he wasn't in the bed, so I made us both a cup of tea. I got back to a doze for an hour at 6 am, but I'm feeling a bit droopy. We both did our exercises.
Yesterday we got last minute stuff from the cruise company, but there was nothing in it about the free car pick up. I had assumed that was automatic. So I rang them and they have fixed it for us. I booked in 3 large suitcases. I then inquired about the free laundry service that we had last year. They went off to inquire. First it came back, No, but later she rang back again to say "The Big Boss says yes!" Hooray! :drinker: It may sound silly, but it was one of the best things about the cruise last year. I made very good use of the service!
So that's what set DH off I think. He said he didn't go to bed anxious, so he can't understand it. I just know how easily his amygdala gets overexcited.
I've been sprouting Moth beans overnight in the IP. I love sprouting things, but I'm not sure about DH. I will freeze most of them for another day. Got a great recipe for cooking them as dahl. Also delicious in salad.
Going to have our cheap champagne tonight with supermarket breadcrumbed chunky cod . A day off proper cooking for me. Mushy peas and broccoli. DH baked fries. We like it with tzatziki.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -

Hey all! Happy Friday! I ate a little better yesterday. Had a good day with the kiddos, even though it was a rainy "inside" day. Didn't sleep well last night, though. A few weird dreams. One of them I dreamed I was drowning and woke up and I was holding my breath. Anyway, feeling the loss of good sleep this morning. I got up and got my walk in, though. It promises to be a nice day, so going to take the kids to the beach today. The beach cam shows the lake looking like glass. Perfect for little ones!
Marcelyn- Forgot to compliment you on the great scuba vacation pictures! Wow! You and your dh are like an adventure couple. Great photos!
Machka- Beautiful hair and I love hats, too! When I was a teen and young mom, I wore my hair long (down to my butt). I wear it chin or shoulder length now. DH misses the long hair, so I haven't gone shorter at all. Although, I have a lot of short styles I want to try.
HEather- Where is it again that you are cruising? You can tell you are an experienced traveler. You check and double check everything! I will have to remember that for when I start traveling.
More of you I want to respond to, but have run out of time, as the first of the kids have arrived. Early. But alas, the door is locked. Darn. ttfn KJ (Kelly)3 -
