Karen - ((((HUGS)))) for you and your family. <3:'(

We enjoyed our trip to Lidl. Bought quite a few things, but so far we have only tasted the bread, which was fine. Champagne was $10 . We had it at my son's and it was ok. Not great, but as good as Prosecco. :D Going to try the ridiculously cheap chocolate tonight. :* It was so cheap that it doesn't matter if it's only good for cooking.

Tere - I have never heard of ciopinno. (Just Googled it. Sounds lovely. If you served the garlic bread you wouldn't need rice. ) Pears are always good, you could poach them in a cider syrup. :D

We are having fish soup tonight. In order to get some greenery in we bought two packets of Pimentos de Padron from Lidl. Yum! Will have them as a starter.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Becca - Your post made me cry. In a good way. I've screenshotted (?) it. <3

We have taken our oldest Yorkie Farley to Dr. Bill's today. He is 15 and getting frail. He has lost weight, lost most of his vision and hearing, and the last few days is having GI problems. He still has a good appetite and even played with a ball for a few minutes yesterday, but there is blood in his stool and he is vomiting at least once a day. If it is time to let go, I want to bring him back home for a few days if possible, but my partner says being in the car is too hard on him. I have to work this afternoon. I also think the grandkids may want to say goodbye. Farley was the self-appointed babysitter guard dog for both of them when they were babies. He wouldn't eat or sleep when they were here. He stood guard constantly, even when they were sleeping. He waited until they would go home and then eat ravenously and collapse in a deep sleep. He took his job very seriously. We love our little boy. The other 3 dogs will miss him, and it will break our hearts.

Karen so sorry to hear this. Hope all turns out well. Our 13 year old Pokey girl spends most days just sleeping away. She also has almost no hearing left and I do wonder about her vision. Their comfort is most important. Hard decisions. Hang in there. Looking forward to seeing you very soon!!!!

Karen: I am glad that you are going to get some more time with Farley. The end days of a beloved pet really tug at the heartstrings.

Becca: the busted can of biscuits image made me laugh!

Katla: Glad you got time with your DS!

Karen...(((HUGS)))). We're facing this with our indoor kitty - she's so aloof it won't be quite as hard - I'm afraid in the past, we've always let our doggies get way past any quality of life for them because we just couldn't bear let them go. I'm trying to be more objective about these decisions now.

Dana - enjoy the visit from your friend! You will have a lot of fun with her so don't tucker yourself out! Cute photo of your DH and his admirers!

Katla - enjoy every minute with your DS! Seeing your excitement makes me realize how my parents must have felt when I'd fly back to see them every year or two.

Heather - have you tried stuffed meatballs in the Instant Pot yet? I have found a few recipes for cooking meatballs in sauce (and even adding dry pasta!) But would prefer to brown the meatballs first. Guess I could in a skillet or maybe the IP on the sauté setting. Plan to stuff them with a little cheese, maybe mozzarella or provolone and don't want them to explode and disintegrate into the sauce.

Machka - welcome home, what a long flight! So cool you skipped a day. Hope you are settling back in OK to your winter time.

Barbie - what a nice day for a ferry ride! Hope things go well for Jake at the cardiologist.

I am super ticked at Microsoft. Apparently in the latest update they decided to add a newsfeed to the "new tab" which really slows this laptop down plus I don't care to see the news, sports or any of that crap. Don't want to see it flash on the screen for even a split second!! I went to turn it off and it's not letting me. Went to "sign in" and it's giving me the administrator log in screen - I have a user account. GGRRR :s when DH comes in from stacking firewood I'll see if he can uninstall it. I am so done with the internet sometimes!!!! Especially Microsoft. I think when this laptop dies I'll look into getting a bigger Fire tablet and try to avoid MS as much as possible.

I read an article this morning that one of the inventors of the I-PAD is having some regrets... apparently when silicon valley "kids" came up with the idea, they thought it would be so neat to have instant communication.... well, in theory that's right. Sadly, it's also porn, advertisements, you name it.... his kids are so absorbed in their wireless world, like a lot of the world's population now.

I feel lucky to have grown up without it - nice to be able to have online banking and check the weather quickly but about 80% of it I really could live without. This MFP site is one of the "cleanest" ones I visit and I commend them for it. Worth the $10 per year or whatever it was to not have a ton of other links loading like on some other ones I pay for. :)

This morning I picked some kale and red beet leaves from our garden and sautéed them with a little diced onion in avocado oil. YUM!!!

That's the latest! Enjoy your day, ladies!

Please don't call it an insta-pot, it's an Instant Pot. It drives users crazy! IP is ok as an abbreviation.

:) I slept OK without the dogs but not as happily as with them. I am up early, as usual, have put clean sheets on the bed, finished my breakfast and my visit with all of you, then I'll meditate and go for a walk by myself before we leave at 7:00 headed for the ferry to Seattle......any trip that includes a ferry ride is a good trip.

Have fun! We took the ferry last weekend. I decided that I'm not driving in Seattle anymore. Parking was an absolute nightmare. When we finally got a spot, my 10-year old looked at me and said, "That was the worst experience ever!" Anyway, from now on, we're driving up to Bremerton, parking the car, taking the ferry as a pedestrian, and if we can't walk to it after we get to Seattle, I guess we really didn't need to see it! Lol Enjoy your trip!

I'm so sorry, Karen. We had to let one of our dogs go three summers ago -- she was about 15 years old; (we're not sure because my husband rescued her when the dog was a young adult.) She was the dog my husband had with his original family, so he took it especially hard. We dragged it on for a couple months -- I gave her IV fluids every other day at home to keep her hydrated, and she could eat only mashed, soft foods -- mashed potatoes was a favorite. I sat with her, during the IV drip, and she would reach out and lick my hand.

When she needed the IV every day, we decided it was time. She didn't even survive the sedative before the lethal injection. She was such a sweetie. We miss her a lot! Animals have a way of getting straight to our hearts.

Many prayers for you during this time.

ETA: Just read your update!! Good news. Enjoy this time with your pup. <3

    Good afternoon, ladies.

Had my 3rd endodontist appointment this morning -- he thinks he finally has all of the canals cleaned out and they are all packed with medicine. I don't have to go back for three months, at which time, he'll clean them out again and repack with medicine. Honestly, even this morning on the way to my appointment, I was wishing that ten years ago, I'd just had the stupid things pulled out! But this guy, of course, says they are worth saving. $$$$$ for him! Lol

My 16 year old comes back from Kansas on Thursday. I am ready to have him home, but also a little sad for him to be leaving his friends again.

My 10 year old just called to chat -- he is at my mother's. It was a lot of fun talking with him.

It's beautiful today -- so wish I could be at the beach, freezing most likely, but still wish I was there.

    Everyone take care.
