I truly believe the interview went very well. I was pleased! Hope to hear about a third interview next week. In the meantime had another company contact me about another job. The one I had the interview for today will be on a contract basis for 6 months and then permanent. The new one is just a contract for 7 months. They both have the same salary - really nice salaries. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers!11

"]Hi I'm 53 and been doing this for a week. It is harder then I thought it would be but I'm still on track. I would love to be a part of this community.[/quote]
Hang in! For. Me honest tracking is crucial!6 -
Allie - I say hold your ground. If it is meant to be it will happen. When one door closes another opens.
Joyce - don't let anything stop you from doing a craft. Go get that crochet hook. Don't forget to share pics of what you make. I have to do my embroidery or chainmaille jewelry for my mental health.
Toni - The fact that you are asking ?s shows that you are not taking your decision lightly. It is a big decision. Trust your gut feelings! If it isn't right, it isn't right. My second (current) husband is totally different my first and makes me so happy. I was determined not to make the same mistake again. I decided I'd rather be alone with myself than to be in a bad marriage. I'll be thinking of you. Deep breathes. of me soon
p.s. hope to load a pic of me soon. I love to see who I'm posting with.

Marcelyn: I'm hoping that your home is safe in the storm that is headed your way and your community is not endangered or damaged. :flowerforyou:
Felicia: I love the quotation from Little Women. I haven't read that book in years but I have read and loved the whole series in the past.
Gloria: I suspect you will survive the teen years or know the reason why. You are a terrific parent to those grandsons. They are lucky to have you. :flowerforyou:
Alison: I hope you have a trusted advisor to help you with the ins and outs of condo leasing and sale. The idea of leasing first gives you a chance to find out if it is really a place where you can be happy. I think it is smart, but I don't know whether it will make a purchase more or less expensive in the future. There are real estate experts here who may have some insights that will help you.
TNToni: It seems we're long distance "classmates." I'm going to one of the events for my 50th class reunion tomorrow. I'll let you know how I like it. This one is informal and at a tavern in the old hometown. The other one is a fancy sit down dinner. I'm passing on that one. I have no idea whether anyone who was my friend will be at either event. :ohwell:

We bought new barstools for our kitchen counter that were delivered in boxes ready to be assembled. We assembled one and it is both comfortable and appealing. Two to go but DH needs a nap first. I bet the new ones won't be nearly as durable as the set we've used since the 1970's. The old stools are going into storage as backup.

Thanks everyone! Halfway to goal. Slowly but surely getting there this time around. Stay the course! It's a journey for sure.
Our son is coming up to us in College Station for a few days to weather out the hurricane effects in Houston. He was nervous. He was too young to remember the hurricanes we went thru in Florida. More mommy time for me!
Our daughter went to her first house on her journey to purchase her very own home. I don't know why I'm a nervous wreck for her. I guess when you've been thru 9 house purchases and sells you know ALL that this will involve. Plus helping her from Texas while she's in Virginia doesn't help. I hope she doesn't suffer too much disappointment through the process. She'll live and learn.
Sending healing prayers and joyful blessings!

Hey all!
My CPAP strap had irratated a spot on my scalp and I've been itching it. So I put a little bit of Lavander oil on it thinking it would soothe the spot ( was Tuesday). What did I do? I took a Benadryl but I keep getting waves of pain. I hope it stops hurting! I don't want to go to the doctor. He'll probably think I'm nuts to put Lavender oil on it! I use it on my skin all the time so I don't think I'm allergic to it!
Allie I'm with everyone else on the condo. Another one will come up. Don't push too hard. I would have to have a place to live which is pet-friendly.
I'm with Lenora, Tomcat may be contempt of court if he doesn't provide his financials. States are different state by state.
I made chicken fajitas tonight with Mexican rice and corn tortillas, a bit of shredded cheese and salsa. Turned out pretty good!
That's all that happening here. It quit raining and the air is drier. It's about 82*
Perfect outside!
Take care!

Hello ladies: Good day today. Got some yardwork done since it is cooler, also did some Qi Gong. I haven't done that for a while and my balance has suffered. Yikes! This afternoon I had a dentist appointment and forgot the fair started today. The highway past the fairground entrance was a mess. Good thing I left early to get there, but the checkup was good.
Hope anyone in the path of or affected by the hurricane stays safe.
Allie - Hang in there on the condo. Sounds like they are anxious to get someone in there.
Paula - I live in between Snohomish and Monroe. We have 10 acres with goats and horses. Moved here 2 years ago from SD.
Cheri - I just wish I was under 200. I seem to have plateaued at 204 and can't seem to get it to move.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA1 -
Hello Marvelous Mamas;
Another glorious day is drawing to a close... not much going on – except that I am all puffed up.
I ran out of blood pressure meds.... and I am seriously retaining water now. Before y’all get too panicky – I have never taken the med for my actual blood pressure... It was prescribed to reduce the swelling in my legs a gazillion years ago, when I weight well over 300 lbs. and had serious swelling issues – but even then, my blood pressure was within normal limits. Since then, I have lost 179 pounds... so – the leg issue is mostly resolved – and I have been having some LOW blood pressure incidents, recently – so when the friendly folks at CVS failed to send my Auto refill, I didn’t sweat it. I just stopped taking it.
However – my scale is reading five pounds high today – and I know it’s just the water retention. I am hoping that when TOM is completely past, it will whoosh away – but we shall see. In the mean time, I am drinking lots of liquid – which seems counter-intuitive – but, I know it will help.
******************************
Becca – You intrepid pilot, you...you are majorly multi-talented... you sing, you can make $200 feed a family of four for a month and now you fly! I am in awe....
Okie – Awesome about the jeans! And wowza – that IS a lot of clothing... I was huge for so long that I don’t have any skinny clothes left. I found one lone little box a while back – but, I am shrinking out of those.... now, it’s all Walmart clearance clothes, or Goodwill for a while.
Dorrie – The spicy beans and cornbread were awesome. Nice that your daughter recognized you needed the smaller pants... An how nice that you now have another, totally new pic of your Dad. And such a great one, too! (Hugs!)
Lannette (aka Olive Oil) – Gratz on the arm definition!
Karen/VA – Awesome eclipse pics!
NYKaren – Happy 730! I have heard that maintenance is actually harder than losing – since there is a lot less margin for error... but, you know what to do! And buck up, Sweetie... you raised your girl right... she will be just fine.... (and so will you. Hugs!)
Machka – I had to read it a few times, but, I did get the date thing on your anniversary. Lol. Mine is this Saturday – August 26th. It’s always on the 26th... as we were just married in one place on one day and we are both from the same country.
Terry – I am blessed with a DH that appreciates me at any size or shape, also. It’s a beautiful thing. And your embroidery is fabulous... What a great way to keep yourself occupied and snack-free. I get not telling people... after losing 72 lbs – it’s not something I can really hide – but, most folks don’t mention it and that is just hunky-dory by me.
DJ – I second your recommendation for planning... Pre-logging is all that keeps me on track, some days.
Michele – I wish my DH would go to the doctor. He is of the “tough it out” variety. Sometimes I have to twist his arm to get him to go.
Cheri – Whoot! Best of luck to your Daughter in her search. She will learn... it’s all part of growing up – and we never really stop, do we? Hugs!
Josephine – I am not personally an experienced diabetic – but DH is... Type II for the last umpteen years. If I can help, I will.
Katla – I am a creature of habit... I love my routine. Bet you are glad to get home to yours.
Marcelyn – Batten down the hatches, Sugar.
Toni – what the heck – go. Maybe you can hook up with your high-school sweetheart.
Pip - *feels for fever on Pip’s forehead* Are you all right, Sugar? I am worried... lol.
Tere – When it rains... I hope you have three fantastic offers to choose from!
******************************
Well, I get a gold star for this week, so far.... I did my planks yesterday and even though I had to be into work a full 45 minutes early for a meeting, today, I still managed to get up early, get to the gym and get in my strength training.
August Goals for the week 8/20 – 8/26
400 calories under budget 5X: OXXXX
Weights/Abdominals 3X: OXX
Planks 3X: OXX
I am glad I have most of my calorie days behind me... Saturday is my 28th wedding anniversary – and I fully plan to eat a prime rib dinner... I will go to the gym, first... lol – but, I know I won’t be 400 calories under budget that day. Hopefully, between the one meal thing and a hard sweaty run on the elliptical, I will manage not to do too much damage. I might have to stay on the elliptical for 4 hours, though... I will have to channel my inner Pip.
Love you guys... Hugs for Everybody!

Hey Peeps, busy day. Canned 6 pints of gravenstein applesauce that was the yield from 2 crockpots - it's very thick and yummy. Love a little bit of it with chopped walnuts and plain greek yogurt. I threw a couple pears in to sweeten it. The Chehalis apples will start turning ripe in the next few days - will find a cool place to store them or freeze any sauce I make - tho freezer is getting jam packed and I much prefer cans -- I still have nearly 80 pints from last year but we can eat 2 pints a week.
Tere - way to go on the interview! What a great feeling - and then to be contacted by someone else - you are in demand! So happy for you!!
Dana - sorry about the ouchie on your head. Do you have any Neosporin around?
Penny - it was a strange garden year for us in the Pacific Northwest - or at least at my house. Winter squash wouldn't produce female blossoms until a few weeks ago - except for the pumpkin. Green beans were icky - hardly any fill. Onions not growing well. But looks like we will have a fairly good tomato crop which is just starting tho we've been eating cherry tomatoes for a few weeks. They are a month late.
Gloria - good for you on the swimming! Sounds like you've found the perfect place and time to enjoy it.
Cheri - you are a LOSER in the best way! LOL.
Katla - your new bar stools sound very nice!
Marcelyn - a Federal trial would have been fascinating. I was on the jury panel for a small town this month but no trials. Wouldn't mind getting called for District or Superior Court. Sounds like Harvey is going to sock it to you - hope you are able to avoid damage. Makes me wonder when we'll get the next huge windstorm here in the Pacific Northwest.
Toni and Katla - if your HS reunions are close by, I'd say go and catch up. Check out the old people, LOL. My 50th will be in 2 years, not sure if I'll be able to fly back to Indiana for it -- if there even is one.
RE and Machka - Happy Anniversary! Celebrate!
Still no rain in sight and after a cool couple days we'll be in the 80's and low 90's for the next ten days. Makes me wonder if we'll go from summer to winter within a few weeks time.
I think my bladder infection is getting better - if that's what it is. It might "just" be cystitis - I know I've been overdoing it on coffee this past few weeks so I am going to lay off or try to survive on one cup. Anyhow I have been drinking a lot of water and taking the antibiotic and the little red pills = orange pee: they really help. Hope I can stop them tomorrow.
That's it for now. Welcome newbies and hugs all around!

We have three bags of stuff, two pieces of luggage that we haven't used in years, and my violin that I haven't played since high school lined up waiting to go to the thrift shop. Earlier this week Jake took all his firearms and related paraphernalia to the pawn shop and came home with a pile of cash that will help pay for our home improvement projects. Thanks to all our reading and discussion, we continue to let go of possessions. Good book to read, "Good bye, Things , the new Japanese Minimalism "

Lanette I hope your infection gets better. Those are awful!
Thanks for the suggestion. I will put some on it. I took a Benadryl and I fell asleep! Of course I knew that, but my head feels better!
Your applesauce sounds delicious! I haven't made that in a long time!
Cooking on this old stove drives me crazy, (broiler is out/only 3 elements work) but Labor Day sales are coming up! I saw one I like at Lowes, it's $320 off, so I might be cooking on a new one soon!!!
The hurricane that is coming into Texas sounds like it will dump a lot of rain. I noticed Gov. Abbott already declared a state of emergency so it must be a big rain maker. Never heard of the governor doing that ahead of the storm. (?)
When I lived in Austin a few came thru and really left a huge amounts of rain.
Be safe down there on the coast!
I'm under today with my goals! Yeah!
Have a good evening,

Eclipse Photos My old high school pal Patty is an amateur photographer who happens to be obsessed with photographs, and as you all could see, is a spectacular photographer. If any of you are interested, you can follow her on Instagram: patschoenfelder. I have another friend here in Richmond who is also phenomenal: annfulcherphotography.
Machka Happy Anniversary! and many more!
JanetR I really like those ornaments.
Sue Hope you get a couple of nights of excellent sleep. I sometimes don't sleep well either. Magnesium citrate capsule sometimes helps me.
DJ I don't think I knew you were diabetic before you lost weight. That is a wonderful victory.
Michelle I had to laugh about Vince not being able to help with the bags of cat food. Poor baby! LOL! Your party food sounds creative and delicious. I love spanikopata.
Machka & Michelle I get sick when I take a flu shot because I am allergic to thimerosal (the preservative). Fever/achey for 2-3 days. Maybe that's why Machka gets sick? Some people are allergic to eggs w/same reaction, as the vaccine is incubated on/in eggs.
Lanette LOL! My doggies are spoiled rotten. But they are to be credited with my sanity, so I think it's a fair trade.
Penny Always so great when you post, love hearing about your life and your amazing home.
Heather So darn cute, those grandkids and gingerbreads!
NYKAREN We went to Niagara Falls once and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have a lovely whirlwind holiday! And ((hugs)) concerning separation blues from DD.
@langman22 Spectacular Hardanger embroidery! Wow! And yes, I am one that keeps my weight loss journey to myself (except here), and when someone comments about it, I try to steer the conversation back to them whenever possible.
Cheri Your daughter will be fine! She can handle this. Doing a happy dance with you for 171!
Tere How did the interview go?
Dorrie Seeing a "new old" of a loved one is unsettling, isn't it? Your dad must have been special.
TNToni I enjoy high school reunions, so I would say go. And I understand perfectly why your heart races when you think about having The Talk with your husband.
Penny Chanterelles are lovely lovely lovely!
Marcelyn Oh my goodness! Stay safe in this storm! You, too, Lisa and Cheri.

Maybe that's it! I don't think I get the flu from the flu shot (that's not possible) but yes, I get fever/achey and very tired for 2-3 days.
I also don't deal well with eggs. I'm not allergic like some people are, and I can eat them, but if I have more than about 2 each month, I end up with horrible gall bladder pain. I like eggs and would eat them a lot more ... but they don't love me.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Friends,
Lanette, my little toes are the same as yours. I’m sure when I was young they must have been broken a few times. I laugh about them every time I get a pedicure. Poor little things are totally sideways.
Penny, so good to get caught up a bit. We sure did miss you.
Heather, the baked goods look yummy. Will the kids take them home?
NYKaren, your trip sounds like an adventure. Safe travels.
Okie, not only do you have lots of clothes stored but you are very organized about it. Very nice!
Cheri, a huge congrats on your new low weight. Great job. Keep it up.
Terry, your embroidery is beautiful. No one noticed I was losing weight until I had lost 45 pounds. And it’s funny how even “fat” people will have to give suggestions on “diets” once they find out you are losing weight. I just used to smile and nod as I ignored them. lol
Beth, glad you made it home. Sorry about your DH’ legs and back. Hope for fast improvement. Good for you on recommitting to this journey. (((Hugs)))
Heather, I’m sure you are exhausted. I’m also sure that if you have gained a pound or two, it won’t be with you for long. I’m not saying your son shouldn’t have told you about the auto accident after your return, but there was no reason to tell you while you were on holiday. You know how mother’s worry. Good for you on your newest language success. How many does that make now?
Katla, glad you made it home safely. I hope you like the new bar stools. I wonder how long they’ve been on your front porch?
Dorrie, that is some experience you had in the hotel. A good friend of mine fell at home last night and is bruised badly. She is 75. Also got a cut on her wrist that she doesn’t even know how that happened. I’ll have to tell her about your adventure. Wow.
Felicia, glad you are enjoying your job. It sounds like a successful day on the problem solving.
Toni, do whatever feels right to you. Both on the reunion and on the separation. You are stronger than you think and we are here to support you. (((Hugs)))
Pip, what was with that??? Not working out. What gives.
Penny, I love the story about your Christmas tree and thanks for the link.
Tere, glad you felt the interview went well. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Katla, have fun at your reunion event.
Dana, I really doubt the doctor would think you are nuts for putting the oil on your scalp. Trust me, they have seen much worse. Lol I hope it gets better soon.
Re, I’ll give you a Gold Star ,too. You are doing great.
Barbie, I like your new picture. I did a double-take thinking we had another new member. Great pic of you and the dancers, too.
NYKaren, thanks. Yes, getting off some of my meds was one of my goals when I started this journey. Getting off the diabetes medicine was my main goal and I was so excited when I did.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
About two hours ago DH started taking exception to everything I said. It was almost as if he was trying to pick a fight? After dinner he started watching the football game so I came upstairs to get out of the line of fire. Lol All you Texans and any others in the track of the hurricane, please stay safe. Check in when you can so we will know you are okay.

Did an hour of a DVD where you use the barbell. The plan for tomorrow is to take the deep water class.
Lynette - the lemon squares are for us to send to Denise. What I'm making for the pool party are these "cups". Hope they come out. You fill a plastic cup with blue jello about 3/4 full. Harden that. Then put a shark candy (well, I'm going to use a Swedish fish). Then fill the cup with more blue jello. After that hardens, you put a gummy lifesaver with a teddy graham inside it and one of those paper umbrellas to "shade" it. Hope this turns out. I made the jello without the cold water (so it's really double the strength) because I one time used the blue jello in a swimming pool cake. The cake looked nice when the jello was firm, but as it sat out the jello got soft. So that's why I'm doubling the jello. Actually, you could probably use some unflavored gelatin instead of doubling the jello, but I wasn't sure how much of the unflavored gelatin I would need and I really don't have time to experiment. I started to get them done yesterday and froze one as my "sample". I had no idea if jello freezes or not. Just in case we need to cancel the pool party (I sure hope not), can I freeze these? Well, I did find out that jello can be frozen. Update: we're going to have the pool party. I'll just rely more heavily on the cohosts to help me with it. Like Nancie said she'd come over tomorrow, bring the ice, and help me with some of the heavy things like tables.
Penny - I always love reading about your life up there. It's just so interesting. As far as the wedding, if it were anyone other than my own daughter, I would certainly have said "s**** it" by now. I know that Jess feels that way about the shower.
langman - I never thought that VT would be expensive! Wonder why that is??? You did a great job posting your embroidery. How beautiful!
Okie - is that ALL the Christmas decorations you have? You should see ours. We must have at least a garage full. It's divided between the two garages so that we can get a vehicle in....lol You DO have a lot of clothes!
Cheri - woohoo on that loss!
Dorrie - what a story about how you fractured your leg/knee/whatever you want to call it. Wow!
Felicia - I feel the same way about quilting as you do about the x-stitch you did. I love most every other craft, but I just don't get anything out of quilting. I know for some people it is very realxing, but not for me. Good for you solving those problems!
Exercised, then volunteered at the Green Room then went to a birthday party for a lady who used to play mahjongg. She's a real sweetie. She turned 90. I tried to be good and had only a mouthful of the cake (was it good) and some ice cream. Then home to make lemon squares that I'll send to Denise when I send her her veil. She won't eat them, but Pete probably will. Then put the fish into the cups for the pool party and made some more jello. Unfortunately, I need MORE jello. Wish the blue was lighter. I probably could make it that way, but I had no idea how much of the unflavored gelatin I should use. Got dinner ready, now here.
Lenora - have a great trip!
Jess called earlier. She's so excited that she's going to use the timed cooking feature on her IP, the one where you put in the time to have it start cooking. So glad she likes it so much.
Annie - welcome! Don't worry, we'll keep you on track. If not....the boot will be coming your way!
Dana - sympathies on your pain. What a bummer
Sue in Wa - was it 2 years ago you moved? I can't believe it!
Re - happy anniversary
Cut up the lemon bars for Pete, put them in the tin to mail and sealed the tin. Good. Out of sight, out of mind....
Karen in VA - I'm allergic to thimerosal, too. I remember the one and only time I had it, my eyes were red as can be and watery. Since then, I haven't had it. Yet, I haven't had a reaction to the flu vaccine in the last few years. It was just that first time, that is the only time (knock wood) that I had a reaction.
Mary - anniversary wishes to you, too.
Denise called. She still needs to pick out the first reading for the wedding. She said that she would probably let the priest pick it out. You mean Maria doesn't have a reading she'd like????? Sorry...that was mean of me....no, it was honest.

Regarding lotto ... if I ever actually had a big win (biggest so far was about $30! Woohoo!) ...
We'd pop everything into storage again, and travel the world for a year or two or five.
Might buy a house in Canada and a house here in Australia to use as bases from which to travel.
Would plan to spend 6 months or a year in the Royan area of France to attend the language school and just enjoy that part of France ... love it there!
Regarding this weekend ... it's going to be a much needed rest weekend for us. Sleep!!
No monstrous bicycle rides or hikes!! We will try to get out for something short, depending on how we feel and what the weather is doing. There's supposed to be another wintery cold front move through and I have no desire to cycle or walk in a cold rain with the way my sinuses feel.
My husband has a fruit grafting course Saturday morning and might do some bicycle maintenance or more study on the fruit industry (that's what he does), and I will study for my database test on Monday ... cramming SQL and PLSQL into my head. But most of that can be done from the comfort of the interior of our house, to classical music, with large cups of tea.
Regarding the hurricane ... my brother and his family live directly in its path. They've been watching it for several days now, but I think it is supposed to make landfall soon.
Machka in Oz ... Brother in US3 -
I have two DVD's that I downloaded that I would give away to anyone.
One is Jeanette Jenkins 21 Day Total Body Circuit and the other is Kathy Smith Timesaver Lift Weights to Lose Weight.
If you'd like them, please PM me with your address. I'm not looking for anything at all, not even the postage. They didn't cost me anything, and I certainly wouldn't charge anyone anything.
Here's to getting fitter!

Cheri: I wish your daughter good luck with her first home purchase. Congrats to you for raising a successful daughter. :flowerforyou:
Tere: It looks like you may get more than one job offer. I hope that you find a place where you are able to shine.
Barbie: You look wonderful in red. What a great group of women! No wonder you enjoy dancing so much. You are surrounded with good company.
DJ: I'm not sure how long the barstools were at my front door, but several days is a likely guess. :flowerforyou:
Tomorrow is the first day of he HS reunion, and the only day I plan to attend. I wonder whether anyone I know will be at the tavern, other than DH. I hope so. I have already found my old best friend on my own and am pleased to be able to contact her and meet for an occasional meal. That is more than I expected and it makes me happy.
