There, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of a job is this? Good luck with what you want. Sounds like you may gav several choices.

I never went to any high school reunions. Never got an invite. Didn get an invite for college either. I think I may join the alumni though. They will respect the fac that I did not graduate with my class cueca use I flunked a class. My husband graduated With his best friend. Charlie would have never gone to his except for the fact that there was KRoake. I think we had the most fun at his 50th.nthey really love the Karoake and had hired a proffesional to run it. It is surprising for me to see some of my old friends at his reunion. They were all from the hospital, just never knew they went to school with him. But we had a good time. Plus his best vfriends wife is a really great friend of mine.

I did call my doctors office for a decrease dose of Ambien. It's only a 5 mg dose but we shall see. But she did say if I can get off just the Ambien, there is no pain contract if I am just getting a prescription for 50/month. So I am looking forward to that. I do not like having to pee in a bottle to see if I hav illicit drags in my system.

I am hearing bad things coming up for Hurricane Harvey. My Dad's middle bane was Harvey and I don't like that name. You all be safe. I heard here was a campground in Tennessee that would take anyone there for free if you go hav a camper.

Looks like it is the time for wedding anniversaries coming up. Ours is Sept 2nd, 45 years. I won't say wedded bliss. I will say 45 years of compromise because you know you took those wedding vows.mwe have both had our share of taking and giving in the 'for better or for worse'. Maybe that makes us love each other more because we know each other's health is precious to us since we have seen it at its worse.

Do cats cover their waste so that other animals can't find them and hunt them down? Mozart was popping tonight as I was getting ready to clean the littler box. If we are in the kitchen, he always has to go pee. So I am standing there with scoop in my hand ready to clean it and he is pawing the poop all offer it, going over to smell it, pawing some more litter on it, smell again and repeat until he was satisfied. He and auite a mountain of litter over just one litty bitty poop. Then I took it all away and he always takes the opportunity to be the first ome to squirt out a little bit of urine after I clean it. Silly cat.

    Joyce, Imdiana in nice weather.

Barbie I thought you had red dye in the front of your hair until I saw the picture of all of you! You look like a fun group of women!

So much going on with everyone and so many decisions being made. I wish you all the best.

Spent 5 hours preparing the house for the exterminators and then got a call at 5:45PM that they were stuck in traffic and it would probably be another hour before they could get here. I already had the dogs and birds out of the house and we have to stay out for an hour after they spray. So now they are coming tomorrow. All the beds are stripped so now I have to make them and strip them again tomorrow. I am exhausted and going to bed early.pulling-hair-out.gif

Allie - Keep standing your ground. Why would you care if Tom's lawyer likes yours? He does know they are on opposing sides, right?
I'm sorry about the condo. Something good will come your way.

Heather - Sounds like an amazing time with the Grands. The cookies look delicious!

Kate - I'm glad everything is fine with your eyes.

Toni- I vote go to your 50th High School Reunion. Why not? Write down whatever seems to resonate with you. Best of luck with all the rest of it. My stomach would feel funny also.

Pip - What is going on? You at the gym and not working out? That is News!

Last few days have not gone quite as I would have liked. I am still waiting on the better part of the "It could get worse before it gets better". Maybe tomorrow. I work early and then we will see what the day brings.

Yesterday was the day of beautification. I may need a few more. I got my hair cut considerably shorter. Next time we are going to try some extensions to make it look thicker over my bald spot. I'll have that for "The Wedding". I got colour changing gel nails. They change with temperature. The pedicure was pure heaven. Now for a massage before I go on the next vacation.

Jheri is out at Whoop Up Days but because of the deal her friend agreed to the girls are stuck in a dead zone. They were told they were going to be on Festival Street which would have been perfect. Oh well, they have had other dealings with the woman in charge that they weren't happy with. I say cut the losses and carry on. At least they did get interviewed a couple of times. Their work is up on 2 of the radio station's web sites and they are being featured on all kinds of social media. Keira came over for a few hours last night and shared supper with us. She was all done up from the fair, face paint, air brush tattoo and balloon space buns. What a cutie.
She informed us she was a "Wild fairy as in Nature instead of you know...Just Wild because that wouldn't be a good thing" We were then treated to some dance performances with her wand. That little princess makes my heart happy.

I had to shuttle "Her" to an interview so Harmony and I had time to catch up in the truck. Oh MY. She told me lots of interesting things. I asked how her visit with her other grandparents was. She asks " You mean Kim's parents?" Yes, honey, those are your other grandparents. I would feel sorry for them but they have showed next to none interest in her since she was born. I am glad we have had the opportunity to bond. She wants to come help with my plants and make a good salad, do a puzzle, colour and read a story.

My sister wanted me to go there for coffee. Funny thing that I spent more time visiting with my DBIL. Same as always.

Supper tonight was a Spring Salad, roast chicken, perogies and Taber corn. Followed by watermelon and then the ever tempting fudgsicle. It was delicious if not the healthiest. Larry loved it and then we took Chico for a walk around the block.

Missed watching my brother in the Taber parade. I am hoping we go down to the Bull-a-rama tomorrow night.
I know I will see quite a few people that I know and I do love watching the riders.

Welcome to all the newcomers. Prayers for those in pain and those that are in the path of the storm.

Sharon in Lethbridge where it cooled down to 28 degrees Celsius today.

    Hi all!

Dorrie - So sorry about the way you damaged your knee, but the story is priceless! I had to share the irony of it all with my DH. He did chuckle a little. :D

Tere - You must be some catch! Well done. <3

DJ - Hope your DH got over his grumps. :(<3 I can understand about my son not wanting to spoil my holiday, but this was with five days to go. :/ He has always kept seriously bad news from me and it's always a shock when I find out. Mind you, there are sooooooooooooo many things he doesn't know about me!!! I really have got to have a discussion with both my son's before I publish the first instalment of my memoir. :noway:
I have good French, goodish Spanish, and now a quite a bit of German. I feel as if I have forgotten all the Norwegian I learnt, but the Swedish I am now learning feels familiar. My Italian is touristic, from phrase books. I'm enjoying the Swedish and love the accent. It is also fun to be back amongst the elks, moose, bears, turtles, cooks and knives of the Norwegian. Spiders, trees and mirrors featured a lot in the early German lessons.
For anyone who has no idea what I am talking about, I am learning Swedish through the Duolingo app, which is free. Many languages on the app and very easy to do. I learnt French at school and Spanish at evening classes, though brushed up through Duolingo.
On our next cruise we have one stop in Norway, three in Sweden, one in Swedish speaking Åland, which belongs to Finland, and one in Germany.

Katla - Very envious you got to see a total eclipse. B) I have seen several partials, but no total.
Max was crying one night before he went to sleep because he was reading an astronomy book which mentioned the end of the solar system. It had a picture of an explosion. I had to reassure him that it was not going to happen any time soon! ! !

I had a revelation this morning when I was talking to my DH about my reaction at the Elvis concert. It occurred to me that I was screaming at my mother, not my father. What I wanted from DH was to be comforted. He was perplexed at my tears and didn't know how to do that. That made me angry and set me off. I wanted comfort and help from my mother and never got it, she only compounded the abuse. I have always found my rage triggered far more by mother reactions than father ones.
In married life I am the one who always has to fight for our rights under pressure, (I am the battler), but sometimes I just want someone (DH) to take that pressure off me. I want to be taken care of. That rarely happens :o:# . He is good though at the considered response. <3 Letter writing, delicate negotiations etc. Things I would lose my temper over.

Missing the grandkids. Phantom little voices fill the empty rooms............

Good to be back in the routine though. Did our exercises this morning. :D:D:D

Going to make plum jam this afternoon. We have tons of beautiful Victoria plums from our tree, so will cook some, freeze some and make jam with some.

A memory came up on Facebook ... my husband and I have lived in our house for 3 years today. That's the longest we have lived anywhere!

My husband just said, "No wonder we're getting edgy to move."

    We're a pair of nomads. :)

Meanwhile, we had another nice walk to the beach and back. It's dark when we go ... daylight hours haven't extended to light up the evenings yet. But I like it whether it is daylight or dark.

    Morning, afternoon, evening all... :)

Machka--I fully understand the itchy feet. Corey and I will be here four years in a couple months, the longest we've been anywhere, as well. We're both ready, I think, at one level, but the finances are a ways from being ready. We're both determined that the next place we live in, we'll buy the place outright. Luckily, one of us is always the voice of reason, saying "not yet." When one says, "I think it's time," and the other DOESN'T SAY, "not yet," it will be time.

Heather--what a sadly beautiful phrasing, "phantom little voices fill the empty rooms." After a visit from the grands, my mother would always go up to see HER mother, and I think it was for just that reason. She said once that the house became huge and empty when the grandkids left again, and it was hard on her. Glad you were able to see your way to the reasons why you had such a hard time at the Elvis concert. I blamed my mother for years for staying through my father's abuse--but had the gift of time, to be able to speak to her about it at length, and understand who she was then, and how she gained the strength to leave.

Still in New Mexico, just waiting on sunrise, so I can head back home to Texas. The older I get, the more I hate driving in the dark.

My home is halfway between San Antonio and El Paso, so we may get the tail end of the rain from Harvey by the end of the week, but no worries for us. We do have people in Kingsville, near Corpus Christi, but further inland, and have offered them a bed if they need to decamp hastily.

Just went downstairs to grab my second cup of coffee, time to finish my packing, sunrise is only 45 minutes away.

    Peaceful Friday to everyone,
    Love y'all,
Lisa, soon to be back in West Texas

Happy Friday ladies! It's back to real food for me today! The lip is all healed. Today was my weigh in day and between my TOM being over and the liquid diet for 5 days I am down 5 lbs today. I'll take it. I am 3 lbs away from my first mini goal that I have set for Sept 24. When I stalled out for 3 weeks I was thinking I wouldn't make it. Now I think I will. Maybe I should bite my lip more often. :)

Michelle - Here is more of the wall of Christmas stuff. I lost about 1/2 of my Christmas stuff when Hurricane Ike hit the Houston area. We had two HUGE oak trees come down in the storm and one of them went through the barn roof where my Christmas stuff was stored. I sat in the driveway and walked down memory lane while I threw the crushed items in the dumpster we had for storm debris (the roof of the barn) cleanup. The tree you can see is gone now, it was just too big for this house. I tried it on the back porch and it was too big for there too, but I did use it there for one year. My trees are on the wall to the right that is blank in this picture. My hub had to put up a couple of rows of shelves to hold a couple of things I brought home from my Uncles and my four trees. Two are quite small and go on the front porch. One is for the back porch, where I can see it from our den and the neighbors can see it when they drive down the road. The last one goes in the living room. I also scatter small untraditional trees around the house.

Barbie, what a wonderful photo, you look great!

Machka: my father was very allergic to eggs at one point in his life (I've been told this allergy waxes and wanes at different times of ones life). If he had even a treat like a brownie that had one egg in the batter his face would swell and lips puff up. So when I showed some sensitivity to eggs as a youngster my mom decided I was allergic too and I have avoided then ever since. I'll have the occasional cookie or treat that may have egg in the batter, but otherwise I just don't eat eggs. I don't miss them but they do limit my morning protein options.

Terr: good luck! I'm hoping for a call back interview right now, so I know how it feels!

DJ: I'm one of those Texans ( a whole lot of us here I've noticed!) but I'm clear of the path and quite a ways inland (Texas being so big) so incidental weather is all we are expecting. The temperature has dropped about 10 degrees in these overcast sky's, but if feels like a sauna out there so it is not a relief.

Michelle: what is a deep water class? I swim in a rehabilitation facility/gym so the pool only gets 5 feet deep - so the classes I take in water are shallow water classes. I found it odd Denise (and Maria) did not have a reading preference-lol people are so different! When I got married I was VERY particular about the readings but easy about most everything else ( for instance I went with my bridesmaids to pick the fabric for their dresses- a shimmery navy blue - but let them have dresses made in whatever style they wanted : that turned out fantastic btw. Each bridesmaid ended up with a dress they liked and would wear again, yet each looked distinctly like a wedding party member.). But let the priest pick out my reading- never, never would have let that happen.

Katla, Toni and Joyce et. al.: HS reunions. I was one of those socially miserable folk in high school so I avoid those reunions like the plague. A late bloomer, I had a good social life in college so I'm sad I'm going to give my 30th college reunion a miss this October. DH ( who graduated from same college a year later than I did) and I are talking about going to his next year which would be *almost* as good

Joyce: I do believe cats cover their business in the litter box for that exact reason. They instinctually cover their business to hide their sent from predators.

Penny, your NP home sounds so Amazing and unique, I love hearing about it.

Marcelyn and others in or close to hurricane path: be well!

Vicki: Grand island was our original destination if I recall correctly. But when sitting in some traffic ( we were lucky, only really hit traffic in one town where eclipse traffic plus road construction collided) I saw Hastings had a big town park with a lake. For some reason I just loved the idea of being at water's edge for the eclipse - so we checked it out and decided it was exactly what we were looking for. There were people about, but certainly not a crowd, and that was great too.

Heather, did I mention I lived in London for 6 months? I stayed in Bloomsbury in a crescent shaped street called Cartwright Gardens. My tube stop was Russell Square and my school was Kings College. It was the late 80's and I ended up dying my hair punker style in purple! Ah, youth. But, I never stopped missing London.

Got sick - yesterday afternoon it was stomach trouble today stingy, pounding 'I'm sick' headache. So back to bed I go. It is annoying me because my exercise schedule was already jacked up due to our road trip, but it is what it is. If my head cooperates with Tylenol I'll prob try to get on exercise bike with no tension and a big glass of water so that I at least get some movement in.

Timing is bad too, a friend of ours who moved away three years ago left her grandmother's piano with us. (A pretty thing but untuned and has a few dead keys). She is having it picked up (thank heavens I'll get my living room back the way I like it) this weekend so it can be moved to her home in Washington. So she is visiting in town this weekend. Supposed to go to dinner with her tonight but DH may have to go without me unless I feel better. We rarely entertain/socialize outside family lately, so I'm hoping I feel up to it.

Anyway, yesterday before I started feeling bad I got in a mile walk and 30 minutes on exercise bike - didn't do strength training like I planned tho. :(

Hot flashes as bad as usual, overwhelming, frequent but thankfully short in duration. I sweat tons tho when I'm having one, so my underthings laundry seems like it is always full. I swear, I'm changing clothes at least twice a day to get into clean sweat free clothing and my underthing are often being changed for clean fresh ones 4 or 5 times a day. TMI probably but maybe someone has a suggestion. My husband keeps suggesting I cut my hair to help stay cooler, but I'm resisting and just putting it up all the time - I hate how I look with short hair.

Anyway, back to bed. All: Stay safe, be happy, etc.

    Barbie beautiful ladies!

Rye hope you feel better soon.

Dana thanks for helping me get the movie right. DH loves older movies and I like to come in and guess the stars and or the movie. He was watching Chevy Chase Christmas movie. Dana commented on the friend page.

Seeing the bottom of the thirty year paper pile. I had gone through some of it before so that did help. Now that I have my super shredder. (It makes it into confetti more is going.)

Next month when it is cooler I tackle the attic.

    Good morning all,
Thanks Barbie for the link. I've been off the grid since March but now am back in wonderful NW Washington for the winter. It is so nice to reconnect with this group. Ella (my pup) and I are getting back into civilization and the lovely places to walk here on the Olympic Peninsula. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
