Because saying "KT tape" is sort of redundant if you know what the T stands for. And if you don't know what the T stands for, you definitely don't know what the K stands for, in which case, it should be called kineso tape. Ha!
While technically correct that KT Tape is redundant, "KT" has become a KIND of tape in general use, and no longer really means the acronym, but is an adjective in and of itself. This is fairly normal for English. So "KT Tape" is fine in general use.
this is what I was thinking. and KT is a brand name too, I use KT brand, but there is non-KT kinesio tape.... like people use the term rollerblade synonymously with inline skates0 -

@Elise4270 sorry about your piri- hip pain is some BS I am no stranger to. You're brave staring down shots gaaaaaah!
I had piriformis (DGS) surgery June of 16, as most people here know and so graciously put up with me during my recovery, on my left and am 93.17% better. It took 3-4 years and 6 docs to get a proper diagnosis. And another year working through conservative care. Now I'm trying to manage the right side with bursitis impinging a nerve, of course that pesky piriformis wants in on the action.
I feel for anyone that has to experience any version of this!0 -
@greenolivetree It's definitely KTT now! Kineso Tendonitis Tape!!!
ETA @PastorVincent "at" or "with" is fine by me. I'm not opposed to be laughed at (see any and all previous posts of mine). If I can get a giggle outta folks, it's worth it. Laughter is often lacking in our lives. Gotta laugh to have those few moments to breath between the rough moments.2 -

Decided to take a rest day today. Skip was nominated for Student of the Month and the ceremony was at 7:30 this morning and she said “I know if you are feeling good you’ll forget the time and not come back to get ready”. No I would never do that to her, but I decided to play it safe and take a rest day.
We received our AIM packet in the mail yesterday too. Awesome information enclosed with everything.
@MNlittleFinn congrats to your mom that is awesome
@garygse great info on the race time tattoo

It was hotter than expected at lunch today, but it wasn't raining so I went ahead and did my intervals. I am almost to my goal for the month. I hope I will be able to get those last 6 miles in. It rained all afternoon yesterday when there was a slight chance of rain. Today it hasn't rained much at all and it was supposed to rain all day. It is supposed to be rainy tomorrow and Thursday and maybe Friday, so we will see. Surely I will be able to get a couple of runs in. I know we need the rain, I just don't want it to screw up my goals. LOL
I did go ahead and sign up for a 5K on Oct 7th. It is only 30 minutes away. I'm hoping to finally run a 5K in under 30 minutes, but my 5K PR is 32:10.48 so I will be happy if I can beat that.

I took a few extra rest days. I was starting to get worn out and stressed. Plus I tweaked my knee at work. I was able to get back out today and ran an easy 3.5 miles. I just wish fall weather would get here already. It's still upper 80's-lower 90's here. Ugh.

Total 79.7/100 km
I'm thinking if I can get 9.5 km on Thursday and then 11 km Saturday I can still make my goal" but we will see how I feel Thursday and what the weather is like.
I'm in the middle of an office (well, laboratory) move and have been working out of the new location since yesterday. Only a handful of us have moved so it has been very quiet. Anyway, new lab is about 5km from home so today I brought my running gear with me and ran home. First 3km were a bit rough probably because of Sunday's race, but I felt pretty good by the end.
Upcoming Races:
9/24 Heartbeat Run 10K 1:24:44 (11.1km)

Nominal challenge goal: 1 mile
Real goals: Get healthy enough to run again. [cleared to run 9/20] Make a final decision on whether to register for Boston 2018. [registered, hotel reservation made]
Today's notes – I'm in recovery, but it feels like taper in that I can't run as far as I want to. Can't run hard right now either, but that doesn't bother me so much. Today I went to club practice, and ran 4 more or less easy miles before the meeting when I usually run a 2 mile warm up. Hung around to chat with a few people for a while, then came home to ice my ankle.
If I were totally healthy, the humidity would be high on my gripe list. As things are, the top of my gripe list is that I can't run as far as I want to. Okay, today was 4 miles. That's more than Saturday's 3 miles. Tomorrow will be yet another rest day. Thursday I'll try for 5 or 6 miles total, and I'll make a decision on Saturday whether I'll run 5 or 8 miles. Today, Thursday, and Saturday will be my 3 running days this week. If they all go well, next week I'll run 4 days.

@PastorVincent Wow! That picture is amazing!!! Was that taken with a professional camera?
@elise4270 Hang in there, girl! The running will be here when you are healthy enough for it. Also, I am on Strava too, but a total newbie to the app. How do I add people?
@skippygirlsmom you are two miles away from your goal – you can take a rest day! And thanks for your comments about my girl – she is my whole world! I am sure you can relate
@garygse that tattoo looks awesome! I must have missed the info, but where does one purchase a tattoo such this one?
My running update: ran 7.1 miles this morning, recovery pace. Felt great, but now my hips are achy, which is a brand-new feeling. We shall see…
Goal: 135 miles
Total: 108 miles
Might be a little short of the goal for September, but granted I ran a half-marathon and over 100 miles total, I will be pleased with my results this month either way.
Is it Friday yet? Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Hi, everyone. I've been MIA most of September - 800+ posts - having some issues with the depression. Trying to dig my way out at this point. Thankfully I didn't entirely stop running and still hope to finish my HM in November. Also experiencing some pain in my leg and it's dumb but I can't figure out exactly where it's hurting. It kind of feels like a hamstring but more to the outside of my leg, like in my saddlebag area. I can stand and lift my knee straight up and it doesn't hurt but if I move my leg in towards the other side of my body I feel it. Of course, I haven't had it checked out.
Anyway, looks like I'll be down about 15 total miles from what my plan called for this month.
September totals: 62 / 85
@WandaVaughn, how's your HM training going? I think yours is right before mine. I'm sure it's somewhere in the last 40+ pages but it seemed easier just to ask!1 -
@MobyCarp Glad to see that you seem to be recovering well.
@Elise4270 Well now you're going to have to start calling it KTT tape.
@JessicaMcB @PastorVincent @skippygirlsmom Quick update on the race tat: it's still on and looking fresh, despite sleeping, showering twice more, and having clothing rub against it throughout parts of the day; it's showing no signs of coming off any time soon. At this point, I have a feeling I could almost leave it on and still use it come race day. Almost.
So it's day two of the second week of taper, and a 50% reduction in running feels like I'm not doing anything at all. Instead of my usual run followed by a run with the group, I slept in and joined up with the group directly for a five mile jog. There were only three of us, and one of them was recovering from an ankle injury, so the pace was slow, but I feel absolutely great for it.
The other person in the group related to us the story of a runner that she knows that took part in a marathon this last weekend. It was his first marathon, and he was apparently running a great race and was set to run it in under three hours. He passed mile 26...and then woke up in hospital with an IV in his arm. DNF. Just how bummed would THAT make you feel? I mean, could no one slap the poor guy conscious and push him over the finish line?

Ran a "sharpener" tonight which the coach typically has as 1 interval of 3 minutes hard effort, but because the group was doing 1 and 2 minute intervals with 1 minute rest between, we did that. The rest of those poor suckers had to do 7-9 more repeats of that for the workout, while those of us running our race this Sunday skipped merrily away and did our cool-down. Total of 3.4 miles with warm-up and cool-down. Man, it was super muggy out there after another record high temps day (I think). Tomorrow is supposed to be the break in the weather. I can't wait.
Feeling a bit better but the 3 minutes of running hard really felt tough on the lungs with this lingering bit of a cold/whatever it is. Taper plan calls for just one more easy regular base run (Thursday) and 15 minutes super easy on Saturday. Might end up pretty close to my goal of 95 for the month, or slightly over, but it doesn't really matter to me at this point. I just want to be well-rested and healthy going into Sunday.

9/26 - .5 mile walk/ 2.5 mi run/.67 walk
Our cool front is arriving so traded in my usual 83F for 71F. However humidity went up from 60% to 90%. I'll be danged
The shortened walk warm up was a bad idea. My legs were killing me the first mile running. Looks like I'll be keeping the ridiculously long 18 min warmup. Lol maybe I should decrease it more gradually instead of cutting it in half.
Did some uphill running and took some walk breaks to compensate.1 -

Good lord, for sure you'd want someone to drag you across at least. Yikes.
Sounds like you are in really good shape going into your marathon, @garygse! It's Oct 1, same day as my HM? Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.0 -
@Runningmischka If you are on mobile Strava, (Android) you can go to the MFP club page, select where it says *84 runners" and it should have a list of all of us. From there you Follow, a request will be sent, then we can follow you back. Apple? Idk. PC, I believe it is similar.
@garygse KTT tape it is! LOL! Ill probably call it such and sound like I have a stutter.
@sarahthes Nice to be so close to work! I'm in a lab too. It's old, stinky, too small.... Love the move!0 -

Dang. Okay. I might get one soon then.

Thanks!
Not really. A Canon T5 Rebel that I bought as a refurb during a big clearance sale last year, or the year before. It is a class called "Prosumer" which is better than average consumer stuff, but not as good as real pro stuff. Aka plenty good for me.

Total: 148.82 miles
Notes:
Easy three mile run yesterday (9:19 pace), then a four mile workout run today. It was over 90*F again this afternoon so I took to the treadmill instead. I was supposed to do two miles at marathon pace with one mile each of a warm up and cool down, but I think the taper crazies got the best of me: instead I ran 3 miles at marathon pace (8:48 average) and 1 mile at half marathon pace (7:58). The good news is that today seems to be the last day of the heat here (hopefully for the whole year!) so we shouldn't have to suffer through any more 90+ degree days or treadmill runs.
Upcoming Races:

9/16A - 9.12 miles fasting, with electrolytes and yohimbine. Good BG's, indicating yohimbine is working to release stubborn fat, but slow run. Plan was for 18 miles today. Stopped for rain and because pace was so slow.
9/16B - 5.01 miles - did not get to 18 today, but stopped because it was dark and I was worn out
9/17 - Rest
9/18 - Rest
9/19 - 5.0 miles treadmill before weight lifting
9/20 - Unplanned rest day. BG's high in the afternoon and I'm exhausted so going to bed early.
9/21 - 5.0 miles treadmill before weight lifting
9/22 - Rest
9/23 - Unplanned rest (BG Issues)
9/24 - 18.01 miles; everything went really well until about mile 12 when I started to feel muscle pains of electrolyte depletion. Swung by home and got 2 electrolyte tablets, but it wasn't enough. Walked most of the last 2 miles.
9/25 - Rest
9/26 - 5.0 miles treadmill before weight lifting
I'm so far behind that I'm not going to reach goal
Upcoming Races:
9/9/17 - Wabash Trace HM
10/21/17 - Oregon Trail Run HM (Maybe switching to marathon)1 -

Goal for the month 55 miles with a half scheduled at the end of the month. I am trying a "rest my legs" strategy in which a run a short distance and long distance in a week with lots of rest in between (filled with working at a job, sleeping, etc.)
9/22....5 miles.....very hot day, approximately 95 degree weather...69 minute run. Just getting it done. No leg discomfort. Wanted to run farther but just finished a long work week. My plan was to run a long run on the weekend.
9/25....9 miles Plan was to run 14, then changed to 12 due to the weather. Only ran 9 miles...still hot and humid...90 degrees with heat index of 93....cooled to 88 degrees when the sun set. Had some leg cramps in mile 8 which I have never experienced in a run. Will try to take some potassium before running in hot weather again. Stopped my run early due to darkness.
I hope that it is enough. Plan is to run this half with fresh legs. My biggest concern is that I will not be able to keep up the pace that I want to be running.
9/1....9 miles... In zone all but 9 minutes. 13 minute/mile.
9/4...4 miles ...in zone all but 1 minute. 12:45 minute miles.
9/11...12 miles....focusing on running more at race pace....goal was to run under 14 minute miles. I haven't run this far in a while....noted that this felt easier than I expected especially the first 10 miles. Pace was 13:10 per mile on the average. My last half marathon was at the 12:38 pace ( in May). In zone only 24 minutes. My main goal was to stay relaxed. Hamstrings felt tight the next morning.
9/14...5 miles.....really not feeling like running at all....goal was to stay relaxed and to run at comfortable pace without focusing on zone running. pace was 12:48....in the zone 31 minutes.
9/17...5 miles.... in zone 24 minutes...pace was 12:24. Lungs felt great....head was into it....not as leg weary today.
9/22....5 miles ...in zone 33 minutes pace was 13:48.
9/25...9 miles....in zone 22 minutes. Pace was 13:53. Some cramping, but not bad. No soreness the next day.
total....46 miles
goal....55 miles.
Upcoming races... 9/30.....Indianapolis Women's Half Marathon

Is it similar to zucchini squash noodles? I have tried those these week. Without pasta sauce, it tastes like zucchini. With pasta sauce, like tomatoes and zucchini. With pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese, almost like pasta.
No way I am I going to catch up to 20 pages of posts.
Good luck to all who are racing this weekend. I think that we will be out of the heat wave soon.1 -
