Another fun line dance class this morning. Said goodbye to three students who are heading south for the winter. Several more will leave in the next few weeks.
Drizzly weather has inspired us to do more clutter cleaning. Also my scanning of photos and documents continues

Did Brook Benton's Butts and Guts DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Cathe Friedrich's Upper Body Pyramid DVD.
Speaking of stink bugs - one time one got in my drink and I didn't realize it. You can just imagine what happened when it went into my mouth!!!
Dana - how long will you be gone? Have fun
Becca - AWWW, thank for the smile by you posting those pics
Lisa - so glad things are OK with Egg. Bob Barker would be proud of you!!!
drkatie - be glad you didn't get stitches in the ambulance! That REALLY adds to the cost of the ambulance ride!
Terry - right now each nail (with the exception of the one that I took the polish off of) is a different silver. I'll post when I get the nails done all the same. Doesn't Kelly have such great ideas. I wish I was in her childcare. I at least wish my kids had been in hers. Vince has this "thing" about paying someone to do something he can do himself. Only problem is that sometimes it takes him forever to get it done. Like he wants to put the quarterround up in my exercise room. Well, I've been waiting over 4 years for it! I really wanted to get some landscaping done. He wanted to do it all himself. The only reason we had a landscaper start to put in a lawn (only 10 years after we bought the house) is because I really nagged him. Hope your foot feels better
Speaking of scars - my breasts look like a road map. Back when I was much younger (probably in my 20's) I kept getting fiberadinomas. The MD at the time took them out. Remember, this was the time when they used a drain! Finally, he said "we won't bother to take them out any more since they're always fiberadinomas (non cancerous). But my breasts look like a road map. At least it's my breasts which no one sees.
Lenora - I used to have a bikini body too. Of course, that was about 50 years ago....lol
Mary - I'm so happy for you
I just got a message from a johncalvinfields saying "I sincerely apologize for sending the friend request. Making it publicly known Was embarassing for me Lesson learned ok" what this means I have no idea. All I know is that he's sent me a few friend requests and I haven't accepted any of them. So I have no idea what this means and I have no intention of asking what it means, either.
Finished stringing the popcorn for the tree. I don't think I'll do any more this year. Then went to a gallery opening that a friend of ours had. Then went to see "Faith County" at the Green Room. Tomorrow we go see "The Foreigner" at the Hickory Community Theater.
Now I'm thinking that I'll get the totally sparkled nail polish. That'll probably look better with the shoes.
Oh, the local community college called. See, I was going to have them give me the mani/pedi but at first they were going to be closed until Jan so I wound up going somewhere else, I'll get my nails done there before the wedding. But I did make an appt for the following Thurs for just a manicure. It's only $6 and I'll see what kind of job they do. I don't think they can do that badly.
Becca - tomorrow will be better.
Put down seed and weed and feed on some areas. I think I'll probably use up the rest of the grass seed since it won't be much good next year. Hey, who knows if it'll take or not?
Marcelyn - great dress your granddaughter made. I haven't made clothes in a long, long time.

Penny: The term North Polish is tantalizing. Since you are currently not North Polish I wonder whether you've chosen another Pole, or something in between.
(((Becca))) I know change can be hard. We moved right after DD graduated from High School. She refused to come with us and moved in with friends. It hurt my feelings and I was upset for quite a while. A lot of time has gone by since then and she's moved to many different states and attended to several colleges. Now she lives with her mother-in-law. I know a bit about how Michele probably feels, and maybe just a little bit of how you're feeling, too. :ohwell:
Mary: I hope that you and your DH are able to settle in a new place and enjoy your lives together. If you decide to teach & get your certificate set up, you'll be a huge asset to the school and the students.
Allie: I am having such a good time hearing about your new, happier life. WTG!!!
Marcelyn: Your granddaughter's dress is wonderful. I love the photos.
Our little dog has been suffering from a really bad tummy. I collected a stool sample--yellow poop, and took him & the sample to the vet. He evidently has lost necessary bacteria in his digestive system, so we have pills and probiotics to give him for the next five days. I hope it solves the problem. He's had two doses and seems to be feeling a bit better already.

Well, I was typing along and my iPad decided it wanted to refresh MFP. So all my post went into cyber space. So you will find my words of unhappiness over in the white space. Will some one please wipe them up?????
Love you all, Joyce, Indiana still enjoying warm fall days0 -
Hi ladies, I've only been reading posts the past few days, was feeling really lazy on Tues and Wed, didn't do much of anything, so Thurs had to get the house cleaned as I work Fri, Sat and Sun and am just to pooped after work to do much of anything!
I must say, I am reading some pretty amazing stuff from all of you! As for the bugs and spiders...... I am NOT one to escort spiders out of the house!!! Moths, beetles ladybugs, even wood bugs, but spiders must die! Except, and I don't know why, for Daddy long legs. They don't bother me. Go figure. Wolf spiders on the other hand..... Yuck! And we grow 'em big here! I grew up in the interior of BC, never saw a wolf spider til I moved to the island, my first one was almost enough to make me move back to the interior!!! lol Oh well, getting used to them now, but I have seen a few black widows in the past few years. Apparently, it's not warm enough here for them to do real damage if they bite, but really, who wants to take the chance!
Marcelyn, that dress that your granddaughter made is incredible! And she's only 9???? Wow! She's going to be quite the seamstress!
Sorry, that's the only post I really remember, oh except the invitation to move WAY up north where there are no spiders, I'd like to put my name on that list too, please! Not sure I could handle the 24 hour night, but it might be worth a try....
Congrats to those who have had good things happen, {{{HUGS}}} for those who need 'em.
Let's just keep on keepin' on!

Saturday -- My husband and I got our October Century today. Getting that century this month was a bit of a challenge because both of us have become quite a bit busier than we had imagined we would be ... and somewhere along the way we realised that we needed to get it done this weekend because we won't have an opportunity next weekend.
Next we had to decide where we wanted to ride. We've been doing centuries in northern Tasmania or in Canada lately, but this one would have to be done in the Hobart area, where it isn't particularly flat. We picked a century route my husband had designed and which we rode several months ago as a Permanent. But we weren't riding this one as a Permanent because we didn't want the time limit.
It has been 7 weeks since we've ridden a century, and we haven't done a lot of longer rides in those 7 weeks so we just wanted to make it through.
The route was more or less an out and back from Hobart to Maydena, and back.
Although the temperature reached 19C in Hobart, it was only 13C up at Maydena. And it was windy with quite a strong west wind gusting up around 45 km/h. We encountered a bit of mist up near Maydena but it was pretty much dry for the rest of the ride.
To distract us from the wind, the scenery was beautiful. It's spring here, so everything is green. We topped one particular hill and were presented with a gorgeous view of the green valley and hills ... and a rainbow off to one side.
There were also quite a number of animals out and about ... mostly domestic, but not all. There are wild hens, geese, black swans, cockatoos, plovers, and an eagle. And also cows, sheep and chickens ... including a flock of chickens who were milling about the road and in no hurry to actually cross until we were almost on top of them.

Morning, all...
Becca - I have the wonky days too... everything seems subtly off, can't put your finger on what's wrong. Your husband's most recent episode at the hospital was enormously stressful, and this may just be backlash. It cannot be easy to worry about the one you love most for years on end since his transplant. Just be kind to yourself, lady. You are such an amazing person.
Allie - it is so amazing to see who you are these days. When I met you here on this thread three years ago now, you were beaten down, stressed, unhappy. I absolutely love watching you step into your own and become your own woman. You too are an amazing person and deserve an amazing life.
My own stresses over the move and completing what I need to for work and for the move in the interim are showing because I'm losing things. Little things - but I'm usually a little absent-minded because I've always got something weighing on my brain that has to be accomplished. But now, instead of misplacing things and finding them again later, I'm losing them completely. Again, small stuff--but considering how much I've packed lately, I'll probably find them all when I unpack in North Carolina.
Ha! Having said that, I looked under the desk and just found my favorite pen - the last thing I'd lost. I know darn well it wasn't there last night. It's possible that Egg, who is sitting in my lap purring and hard to type around, is gaslighting me in return for having her spayed. Her absolute favorite thing of all is straws. I always have a straw in my coffee or whatever drink I'm drinking - I literally buy them by the bagful. We gave her a few to play with, and find them under every rug, she goes running through the room with one in her mouth... funny cat. She also steals my pink highlighter marker. I have them in every color, but she prefers to steal the pink one.
Off to Fort Days in about three hours to sell some of my books - I think I sold two last year, but it's good company. One of my favorite people, the lady who runs our writing group, and who edited "Pig" for me, will be there selling her books as well. Will have to take my crochet with me--we can sit and crochet and gab for hours.
Love y'all,
Lisa in West Texas for 12 more days...

Happy Saturday!
Feeling better and better. Took Blue out for a short walk yesterday. Plan to go a little further today. My equilibrium has been a little off. My mental calculator says I should be able to try the bicycle out in the next two weeks. Doing well controlling my prednisone fueled eating. Last night I filled a small container with low-fat crunchy stuff and took it upstairs with me for munching with 2 bottles of water. Once it was gone that was it. I did not allow myself back down into the kitchen. Between the prednisone and not smoking it is a wonder that anyone is still alive in this house!
Since I got out of the hospital, I've decided to do much more healthy eating and cooking. My big discovery yesterday was that a salad container of spinach leaves is just enough steamed for two people with one just having a 1/2 cup serving. Thanks to MFP I found that spinach has a high sodium count. Who would have thought it? Healthy eating really requires some learning. I happy to report that my intake of rice, potatoes, and bread is almost non-existent. I don’t really miss them. I bought some acorn squash which I plan to tackle today trying to get a greater variety of vegetables on the plate. So happy DH is on board with me. With our various illnesses and surgeries our bodies have taken a beating. He says he is feeling weak and flabby. I am feeling weak and flapping (flapping body fat)!
Heather! Heather! Heather! You are one of the few people I know that can talk about healthy food and make it sound decadent! I spend days looking up recipes for your food mentions. It was hard to figure out that a Christmas Cake is what we call a fruit cake. I’ve never much cared for them as a lot of people here concentrate on how much brandy and/or rum they can soak into the cake before cutting it than on the cake itself. In lots of cases the end result is a thick block of alcohol soaked candied fruit. Every year I think about making the Japanese Fruit Cake – 4 layer spice cake with nuts, raisins, coconut, filled with a citrus and coconut filling. There is more cake than fruit without the booze. Most years I settle for making a rum pecan pound cake. I like the cake more than the fruit and would rather have a martini than alcohol soaked anything.
Lisa: You are amazing. I just read “This Little Pig” for a second time. I did not realize you were the author. Fantastic! You remain a hero!
Tere in RVA

Thank you, Tere! What a lovely thing to say. Something I don't tell most people, though I think I shared it hear some years back, is that "This Little Pig" served for me the same purpose that Heather's memoirs serve for her. It's two stories in one - and the story the abused woman is telling the psychiatrist is mine and my sister's story, with very minor fictionalizing to make it flow. Writing the book was enormously cathartic.
That would be because the novelist has more leeway than the memoirist, so I was able to kill my father off in the first chapter, and with extreme prejudice. When I wrote the first draft of the book, he was still alive in East Texas, though I hadn't seen him or spoken to him in decades. He died shortly after the first draft was written (I didn't do it, I swear). And it was only when he was dead that I was able to have the gastric bypass surgery, to finally take off the blanket of fat that had kept me safe while he was still walking the planet.
Back to my packing...

I was wondering if anyone might ‘explain like I’m five’ (ELI5) a bit about jeans. (I admit to being fashion obtuse). What are skinny jeans? What are boyfriend jeans?
Are there any jeans styles that are meant (or are more appropriate) for an hourglass figure? (My waist being 13 or so inches smaller than my (broad) hips.). All the jeans I own gap at the waist big enough for my husband to put two fists into them with me, but the same pants are sausage tight on my thighs and hips. Advice would be appreciated.
I’m afraid I’ve always hated clothes shopping. Now that might be due to my own fashion ignorance and the fact that mostly I don’t find clothes that fit. Shopping especially for pants has always defeated me and usually I have given up. I do not own any pants that fit correctly and don’t even know how to start. 99% of the time I stick with knit slip on clothing which doesn’t exactly fit, but is at least comfortable. Any direction or instruction on fashion would be appreciated. TLDR: Rye really doesn’t like to shop for clothes and doesn’t know what she’s doing and could use help.
Rye (who has been thinking about how she’d love to own a pair of pants that fit, but now doesn’t want to pay the tailor’s rates to get some unless it is absolutely necessary.)0 -
Rye - I'm a bit hourglassy as well, and the only jeans that have ever come close to fitting me are Lee Riders. All the rest, if they fit around my thighs and my butt, gap at the waist much, much more. Skinny jeans are the ones with the legs that fit tight all the way down to the ankle. "Boyfriend jeans" are supposedly modeled on men's jeans, the ones you steal from your boyfriend. Looser, male-styled jeans. Effectively, they've taken men's jeans, taken the men's sizes off them, slapped a women's size on them and are marketing them to women.

Rye, I had to go to lots of stores and try on lots of jeans in lots of brands and styles and sizes until I found the ones I liked. Once I found the right brand/style/size, I started ordering them online through Amazon. Since I am retired, I wear jeans every day as my "uniform" so I have seven pairs of jeans in two sizes--smaller for line dance class and larger for dog walking and working around the house.
Tere, glad you are feeling better.

Machka, I have scars on my stomach too. They are due to surgeries for a ovarian cycst and a hysterectomy. I pretty much forget about them too. The bite looks painful, was it? You however look great!
It's interesting to hear how many have abdominal scars.
The bites felt like large hot needles when I was being bitten, sort of like a wasp's sting. Then the whole area became quite red and inflamed and a combination of sore and itchy. The photo is 2 weeks later, when it had started to heal, but it still looks a bit red around the bites. Those ants are nasty!!
And thanks!! I'm about 10 lbs heavier than that now, and my body shape seems to have changed slightly since going through perimenopause. I'm a bit more hourglass now.

Ha ha  Let's say something in between. Strictly speaking, everywhere on earth is between the Poles. But to be more specific, I'm at the end of one of my hectic teaching weeks in Stockholm. Saw the son and the grandkids this morning (but avoided the daughter-in-law because she's just come down with the cold everyone else in the family had recovered from) and will be seeing the daughter and not-officially-son-in-law this afternoon.
I have my old bike stashed in a safe place here, and when I'm teaching, I get to ride it. I used to commute to work by bike, a total of 32 km every single weekday. I really miss that! Evelyn, the 24-hour darkness isn't anything like what you expect! When I get home at 2 pm tomorrow, it will be twilight - beautiful, pastel blue, endless twilight. I'm actually longing for the calm, cosy, heart-warming time of year we call the Dark Season. So I'm making space for Evelyn and Becca. That's all for now, ladies. I'm feeling a bit discombobulated after the teaching. Plus, all my Office programs stopped working, claiming that they were unlicensed. I guess the two-year freebie time I got when I purchased this computer has come to an end. It was a bit disconcerting, though, when my Powerpoint presentation crashed during a lecture! Luckily, I could borrow a computer from one of the students. I transferred the file and continued from where modern technology had so rudely interrupted me. One of the top items on my gratitude list is that I'm old enough and secure enough not to turn into a quivering blob of nervousness when things like that happen. Let's hear it for AGE!

Machka: I admire your athletic abilities. I might be able to ride a century, but it would take about 5 to 10 days. I am so impressed with your fitness and endurance.
Tere in RVA: I share your distaste for fruitcake. When I was a kid there was fruitcake at every family Christmas gathering. The adults thought it was wonderful. I thought it was disgusting and after my first taste, never ate it again. :noway:
Lisa: As a teacher I had one student who was grossly overweight, missed quite a bit of school, and seemed very sad. I suspected that someone was trying to molest her. I was never sure whether it was a family member or someone who lived in her apartment complex. It wasn't a nice place. I referred her to the counselor but, of course, never knew what went on in the counselor's office. I hoped her predator wasn't a family member and things she said made me think it was someone else who lived in the complex. Her family moved and she wasn't in my class any more. I've always hoped she was moved away from the bad person.
We are getting ready to have our bedroom repainted. We've lived here about 20 years and it is certainly time for fresh paint. The original paint is good in most places, but we had some water damage from snowstorms that resulted in stains in our bedroom. It is past time for this project. Today we're going to order the paint and work begins next week. We will need to move some of our furniture, and will be sleeping in the guest room during the project.

Hi ladies still at work
Marclyn- wow awesome dress your granddaughter made..
Thank you ladies for the love..it is so freeing to just have to worry about me...will get home ,maybe take a nap and go get Chester for the night...going to do some cleaning and then I have a fund raiser tomorrow and then to a wake....4 -
Tere - Yes, the fruit cake does have some alcohol in it, but I don't overdo it. You can't taste it after it has matured for a couple of months. I don't eat it and this year the whole thing will be for DH. 8 ". I like it, but I don't LOVE it enough to use up my precious calories. He loves the covering of marzipan and royal icing as well, but I won't have to put all my usual decorations on just for him. I'll try to find a photo of last year's.
Tonight's healthy food is chilli, roasted butternut squash and broccoli. The chilli portion is from my freezer, so not much effort there. DH has made stewed apple and blackcurrants to have with yoghurt.
As I was cutting up a huge squash I decided to make soup. I made myself a lot more work by deciding to dry roast it as I love that charred, smoky flavour. I roasted a head of garlic, tomatoes and onions with it. They are all now in the IP with homemade broth. That is tomorrow's lunch with a small slice of homemade sourdough bread made with the yoghurt whey. Just a bite or two for me.
The last two nights our dinners have been amazing. Tuna on Friday (Gordon Ramsey recipe) and the curry last night was to live for! I nearly always come in on calories because I eat all my exercise calories. I have MFP still set at 1200 basic, so I do still lose slowly if I stick to 1800 or less. Next week I am socialising and travelling 4 days. I hope to walk one day and get exercised two of the days, even if I have to get up early, but one day when I am flying home I think I won't get much done. I hate that as I really NEED my exercise buffer.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx
PS - found last year's pic. That was a 9" as the family were eating it. I held back on the brandy! The three little decorations in the front part I remember from my childhood and inherited from my mum. My children also remember them fondly.

Marcelyn – Great teacher, great student … that reversible dress could not have possibly been easy. I can sew; but, haven’t done so in many years.
Michele – My bikini body was about 50 years ago, too; but, I did get back to my pre-pregnancy weight after both boys were born, so I guess my last bikini body was about 38 years ago or so.
But, at my age, I don’t think I would wear a bikini, even if I got back to my bikini body. Two-piece, maybe.
I had a friend request; but, no picture on the avatar. But, it seemed more like a female user name, so I accepted it. She admitted that she had not even turned 40; but, told her she’d be welcomed anyway. Haven’t seen her post and have not gotten a response.
Joyce – Are you trying to post directly to the yellow box or do you open up a word processing program and type side-by-side? Although this doesn’t mean you won’t lose a post, it significantly helps you not to do so. If you need instructions I know either I can do so or someone else who does it that way could do so, too.
Evie – If I come into somewhere there is a ‘colony’ of Daddy Long Legs … that does bother me. When we lived in town, our “Her-She” was penned in a covered pen and they would gather there and I always thought they could gang up on me. The strange thing is, they are poisonous; but, because of their long legs they can’t get down to bite you and then they would have to bite you in an area such as that bit of skin between your fingers. Plus, their fangs are too short to break the skin of a human. But, I don’t know about a pet.
Allie – Just be ‘careful’ when you are around TomCat with the dog situation, he might get very cruel (or violent) when he gets served with a 2nd Motion to Compel. Apparently, he is stalling as long as he possibly can to either produce the information or have time to ‘try to hide it from you’. I think I would take someone with me for a ‘witness’ if he gets belligerent.
I agree with Lisa – You are a totally ‘different’ woman than you were when I first got her nearly 900 days ago. I’m very proud of you … keep it up and keep moving.
Lisa – I can ‘get my stuff together’ that I will need to take with me; and, invariably end up leaving something right on the counter. I get 5 miles down the road and get really pissed with myself for doing so. It is rare that I have the time to go back and get them, which usually means a 2nd trip into town. GGRRrrrrr!!! I’m convinced that I have a “Gremlin” in the house. I tend to go ‘blind’ when I am looking for the things I really need – like my keys – or glasses. I will go into the bedroom and back into the kitchen and there they are – in plain view as if someone had come in and laid them right there.
Tere in RVA – Happy that you are feeling better. My DMnL used to make a 9-layer cake; with nuts, fruit, rum, and coconut between the layers. She always made it at Christmas (or Thanksgiving) or whenever we were down for a holiday weekend.
Rye – Skinny jeans are form-fitting; but, not a tight as yoga pants – well not as ‘flexible’ … usually made of denim with a lot of stretch in them. I’ve never heard of ‘boyfriend jeans’. There must be somewhere that sells jeans or pants to people who have big hips or ‘booty’ because I see a lot of women shaped this way and they don’t have a gap at the waist. Maybe a shop for large women … they usually range from size 12 on up to 22 or 24W.
About the only thing I could suggest is to buy jeans or pants that fit you in the hips and then take them to a tailor or dress-maker and have them put a tuck in them to make them fit your waist.
I know when I dropped a couple of sizes and none of my pants fit me anymore, I took them to our local tailor and he took them up in the crotch and in the inside seam; because this was the only way to do it without making the pockets too close together (or ruining the cut) …; but, he said that he would not be able to take them in anymore after that.
OMG – Louis just came in ‘bitching’ that the windows are still wrong. The raw edge on the inside of the glass on the porch are raw from the outside looking in. DAMN! He said “F*** IT!” If they try to take them out again, they will only mess them up and break them again. I’m just ready for them to get the HELL outta here. I will write them a letter, this time and tell them that we are not satisfied (again) … we had painted the sides … exactly as we had been told to do and they still screwed them up. I will not have to ‘look’ at the outside looking in and maybe, if we are lucky the raw side will eventually age with time. Maybe; but, I doubt it. The cuts are mitered; which was a BIG improvement … he is just pissed that they are not right – especially since we spent so much to have them put in, in the first place.

Good morning. Hubby got his visa yesterday, so he is on his way. He is seriously worried. I don't think he needs to worry half as much as he is. But I'm not the one going. My older son flies to Oregon tomorrow to live with us for a while. I am all kinds of nervous about that, but I am still happy he is coming.
Allie sounds so happy.
Lovely granddaughter dress.
Abs. Sigh. I am an apple, so my midsection will be the last place I lose. Even my toes are already skinny. But I still have a lot of fat around my waist. I don't have much fat left in my lower body. Hips and legs are pretty lean. But I will keep working at it.
My ugly, skinny feet. See those bones?

Marcelyn wow, your granddaughters dress is fantastic- she’s pretty amazing. How was the reversible effect achieved- two different pieces of fabric, or one fabric with different designs on each side?
When I was in high school I had a job in the ‘notions’ department of a local department store - we sold yarn, crafts and craft kits but mostly fabric and patterns. I think one of the pattern books was Simplicity. Did your granddaughter have a patern or did you/she design it?
I always wanted to be able to sew or crochet. My fine motor-control disability makes it impossible. It takes me forty five minutes to an hour to sew a button - but don’t look at the underside because it is a knotty mess. Buttons I sew on usually fall off again within months, so I only do it in an emergency.
My nieces are crafty, and while I can’t teach them myself I often gift them with kits and help them get started (like reading instructions, understanding patterns and sorting out the colored yarns, beads or thread for them). It is a bit backward, the child doing the real work, and me ‘helping’ but we have fun together! None of them have taken up sewing, tho, I would have loved that!

Felicia - I know a foot surgeon who would love to whittle away on your foot. He wanted to whittle on mine and my bunion is teensy compared to yours. Cute toes. Hope all goes well with your DH's overseas stint! Hope they are paying him a $$bundle!
Marcelyn – your DGD did a wonderful job on the dress. Yes, she does look like triplets, lol. Is she or will she be in 4-H? I don’t know if they still have sewing and garment making as a category. If so, she’d win hands down. By the way, I want to go along on the trip to WACO and see Magnolia and the Silo’s! If I could get Chip and Joanna up here, I’d pay them any price to remodel our house. Might involve selling a body part but it would be worth it.
Penny – I would love to see your twilight days, they sound heavenly. And a walk in the moss-covered forest. Sounds like a very special place!
OK, regarding jeans and small waists. Here comes an epistle...
I did a little digging into my own history – I would often jot down notes during my Weight Watchers stints. Remember, I’m 5’9” tall and very long-waisted.
March 2004: weight 192 – waist 35”, hips 47.5”
August 2004: weight 162 – waist 32”, hips 44”
September 2012: weight 182 – waist 37”, hips 48”
January 2013: weight 162 – waist 33”, hips 45”
October 2017: weight 162 – waist 34”, hips 45”
I didn’t officially reach menopause (last period) until 2010 - I was 59!
I was one of the fat girls in school, I remember my junior prom dress was a size 18 and back then, these were all in the “ladies” department.
I weighed around 130 when I got married, and with the help of Weight Watchers stayed in the 140’s- low 150’s through most of my 30’s and 40’s, wore a size 12 – sometimes a 10.
So now, I see that 5+ years into official menopause, it’s interesting to see how the belly fat has started to accumulate and push out my waist size by several inches.
I am curious how to take a waist measurement.... I always thought it was the smallest place between the ribs and hip bones, at least that's where I measure and I think MFP advises to measure there. In my case, it's about 4" above my belly button which sits in line with the top of my hip bones.
Back to the jeans – the best place I’ve found to buy jeans and work pants since I’m still “hourglass” are Christopher and Banks. They also have tops long enough to cover my rear end. I don’t like their “pull up” pants, however… waists are way too big but if I was more apple shape, I'm sure they'd be fine. Again, even when I weigh in the 160’s to low 170’s, I’m still buying size 14 and 16 and have 18’s that fit in my closet right now.
And that’s OK. After years of beating myself up because I thought I was huge, I am just happy to be healthy and even tho I’m at the top range of my BMI, my head is content with that.

Evening
Goblet squats-3X5X 35

My morning workout is done! My husband likes to work out as well. I swing the kettle bell with him in the evening. He is not as well conditioned as I am so that is why the lower evening count. As well as having to take a couple days off while we were traveling. I am hoping to increase the weight of the kettle bell to 40 pounds by the end of the month. But, I will wait until my workout partner is ready to increase as well.
Marcelyn - Beautiful granddaughter in fantastic dress! Love the reversible fabric!
