Of refeeds and diet breaks

Anyone else thinking that this thread really deserves a Group of it's own?
Of Refeeds & Diet Breaks & Reasonable Diets - oh my!
That way you can have a topic thread for each of the above dealing with just that subject and what it means, several other frequent misc topics (increased TDEE effects, water weight fluctuations, ect), and of course, the needed several chit-chat topics (food on break or refeed, life, ect).
Couple admins is useful (I think we know who that should be!) for moving posts around if desired, or someone feels the need to get nasty - but otherwise not much needed except for above initial topic creation OP's (which are basically done, except what makes a reasonable diet).
Just saying, of the few longer running topics, this has many side topics that could be mighty useful that the main forums just don't seem to be able to support - then people could be directed to the group for more info, find the thread of their interest, learn and ask more specifics.
Just a thought.11 -
I don't know @heybales
On one hand I've thought along the lines you have. This thread has evolved into a mini group.
On the other hand, I joined MFP just over 3 years ago. And during most of the past 3 years (I would say till mid 2017), discussing AT, re-feeds, diet breaks or any option other than eating less in response to any slow down or stall was severely frowned upon. It feels that only relatively recently posters (re)started publicly entertaining the thought that eating (even) less is not ALWAYS the right answer.
The benefit of being in the main forums is that the ideas gain traction towards becoming generally accepted as opposed to being seen as a "niche"/"crackpot" group hiding in the shadows to avoid getting criticized.
The benefit of being a group is that it reflects the reality of the thread's evolution.10 -
Yeah, my thoughts are much the same as Pav's. And it's just more visible in the main forum. Other than a handful of groups, I just don't think they get a lot of traction (though admittedly I never look at groups, unless I can't remember how to fix my Fitbit!).
I guess if there was a way to keep this thread going and visible and have a group it could work.3 -
Diet break started the week before Christmas when my family came to visit. I did okay tracking until I didn't. It's been a few days of hedonistic abandon, but I'm ready to get back to tracking.
Diet break will continue probably for the next year or so, and I expect my weight will trend up a bit (or more than a bit) over the next ~35 weeks, then a big whoosh around September 3, 2018.
((I'm pregnant!! I've known for about 12 hours - well I had a feeling for a little bit but finally a positive test - and I've been bursting to share. I have a surprise planned for Sunday to tell my husband, so sorry, you get my excitement!))22 -

What are we doing most of the way down Page 2???
I am a blimpy blimp of water weight atm. Combination of possibly inflammation from the mega hay fever, ovulation bloat, maybe some from high step count last couple of days (long walks), and a hell of a lot of food in my system. I did run at a bit of a surplus last week, but only enough to account for maybe 150g of the extra kg I am sporting. Resisting the urge to cut back to a full deficit, but I probably will run a small one the next few days to balance last week's surplus.
I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to stay indoors in the morning to limit pollen exposure, and only go for walks of around an hour at a time. Three hour walks is definitely too much outside time!
Oh, and my twins are 13 today!!! (yes, I made their birthday New Year's Eve, so the whole world celebrates). Happy birthday, Mandy and Mario5 -
Happy birthday guys!
I too am a blimpy blimp. Everyone else all "all the food weight has whooshed off now" while I'm over here resembling a beach ball still. Mind you, I had a bit of an overboard day again yesterday so there will be food and bloat form that. I really do need until end of first week in January to have any vague idea of what I did the last week or so. I do know it's not even close to the 7lbs I'm currently sporting.2
