@Stoshew71 No your not a jerk, I had the same reaction. It would be hilarious if next year a majority of runners
    - moved to the back of the pack - behind the obvious walkers/stroller rollers.
    - Wore the Race Shirt or
    - White or Black hooded sweatshirt - that said "Runners Edge" or some similar wording ( 2 for 1 on that )
    - Eating a pre-race Bagel
    - But the best - Every runner - or at least a big pack came into an aid station and they all stopped for a drink
Hey you need to stop for a good selfie photo. Suddenly had this mental image of Black-White shirts alternating like a checker/chess board pattern.

    Me Bad ???

@skippygirlsmom BaaHumBug on the Pitbull. Woo Hoo on the Job offer.

@eponine1984 Yes it does sneak up on you

@PastorVincent you only need to double your monthly mileage and then add in a 50k ultra to get close to the Run Master @JessicaMcB ‘s. I need to 10x my recent months to get within eye sight of her/your numbers.

@lporter I once ended up in 2nd row when I wanted mid-pack. We walked over to the starting area and I stopped 10 steps back from the line turned around to face the line and everyone kept moving back past me. Of course then I let the speedsters drag me out to fast and tanked at about 7k of a 10k event. No one ran over me at the start. When you are a Mid-packer It is a fine line between to far back or to far forward.
At one of my last events in GP this fall ( 2.5hr drive ) there were only 60 people in the 10k run so it just didn't really matter as the Start line was 50 ft wide and clock start/chip finish. The walkers stayed back so no trampling.

    See you all in December.

    11/4 2.35
    11/5 3.0
    11/13 2.5
    11/23 2.6
    11/26 3.2
    11/28 2.5
    11/30 2.15

    Total 18.3/20

    So. Close.

It was a HPA today and I forced myself to run. I had heavy breathing and some wheezing toward the end. Lungs were hurting but actually running felt good. HPA is through Friday and I hope it doesn't extend to Saturday (but an early morning run will have clearer air).

Kody & I finished the month with a 5 mile run.

The knee felt a bit tender to start, but soon went away. I could feel *somthing* during the rest of the run, but i wouldn't call it pain. Now that I've been sitting for an hour or so, I feel some coming back, but I think some ice and ibuprofen (and this beautiful glass of Bourbon) before bed will help quite a bit.

While I was short of my monthly goal, I hit my trail miles and it was my highest monthly total since April. I'm cautiously optimistic about December.

11/1 - Started month with unplanned rest day. Damn I hate colds!
11/2 - 5 miles on a perfect morning to run (43° F and little wind)
11/3 - Unplanned rest day...can't shake this stupid virus!
    11/4 - 5.1 miles.
11/5 - Planned rest day / church, etc.
    11/6 - 5.1 miles. A bit chilly for November...wind chill was 19° F.
    11/7 - 5 miles. A little warmer today.
11/8 - Overslept and didn't have time to run :-(
    11/9 - 5 miles. Wind was brutal.
11/10 - 3.4 miles on treadmill, then upper body weights.
    11/11 - 4.7 miles.
    11/12 - Rest day.
    11/13 - 4.5 miles.
11/14 - 5 miles. Warm enough to run in shorts!!
    11/15 - 5.1 miles. Again, shorts and a long-sleeve shirt! It was almost 50° F!
11/16 - 5 miles on treadmill / Trek class, then upper body weights. Trek class kicked my *kitten*!
    11/17 - Rest day.
11/18 - 3.4 miles on treadmill. Then upper body weights / abs.
    11/19 - 5 windy miles.
11/20 - Woke up with some crazy pain in my right hip / glute. Not sure if I pulled something or what. Took some anti-inflammatory medicine. Hope I just need to rest / stretch.
11/21 - 5 miles @ 45° F! Way warm for November. Apparently hip issue was weird DOMS from yardwork. It was good this morning.
11/22 - 3.4 miles on treadmill. Then upper body weights / abs.
11/23 - 5 miles. Turkey Trot with two of my kids, two nieces and SIL. The weather was gorgeous and it was fun!
    11/24 - Rest day.
    11/25 - Too much pie!
    11/26 - 5 miles.
    11/27 - 5 miles.
11/28 - 5.5 miles. It was 51° F! Global warming is bad for the planet, maybe good for running. I wore shorts and a t-shirt...on November 28!
11/29 - 4 miles on treadmill. Then upper body weights / abs.
    11/30 - Ugh! No run...missed goal. :-1:

    94.2/100 for the month.

It's true: if you don't aim for something, you'll hit it every time!

I've got to set up a December goal and race for it! I work best when I have boxes to check off. Hmm.

On another note, I'm going Saturday for my first ever trail Run! And my friend told me about a 10k trail race coming up next year. Hmmm.

@WandaVaughn I can't wait to hear how your trail run went! Take it slow and keep an eye on the ground. I think the hardest thing about trail running is keeping an eye on the trail with all that beauty that surrounds you.

@skippygirlsmom congrats on the job!! So glad to hear it!
@ddmom0811 great job with the PR!!

So I think I have my first real running injury in a long time. I've been having some issues with my right foot for a couple weeks. More specifically my big toe back where it connects to the heel. I thought I just sprained or bruised the muscle/tendon because I do a lot of trail running out here and we have a lot of rocks that just love to jump up and catch you in the arch. Unfortunately I looked at my feet this morning with my weight off of them and noticed the right doesn't match the left anymore, I've got a hard protrusion off to the inside. I asked my wife if it looked odd to her and she said "what this?" as she pressed on it and I about peed myself so there is an issue.

Now my wife is making me go to the doctor to get it checked out.

My biggest fear is that there is an issue that will take time to heal and I have a 50k race at the end of January, depending on the heal time this may kill the race. While I will wait to hear what the doctor says I do have a few questions for the group.

I've been running on this injury, if it isn't catastrophic should I just keep going and heal as I run? That way I can keep the training going and still make the race. My mental game is stupid strong so running while injured is pretty easy (this can also backfire as many here know).

If it is catastrophic how do I keep myself for getting super bummed out as I watch all my training go down the drain?

Is there any way to salvage a last second training plan if I can heal up in time?

@Azercord - Sounds like maybe an injury that warrants some time off the trails. Ask the doctor about ways to keep your conditioning up that don't involve running. When I got injured at the peak of my marathon training, I had to wear one of those walking casts for a few weeks. I wasn't able to run during that time, but the doctor and I agreed that it was safe enough for me to do stationary biking to keep up my conditioning. That kept my legs working, kept my respiratory system tuned up, and let me ankle/fibula have a chance to recover without a ton of impact. Maybe you can work together to come up with an alternate plan that will still keep you on track.
