Evening Ladies - life has been crazy here. My 42 year old BIL passed away suddenly from flu/pneumonia. He had just arrived in the UK for a business trip. We are still waiting to get his body home, but had a beautiful celebration of life service today for him that necessitated a quick trip home. We are heading back to the Hill Country now before heading back out early tomorrow for a quick weekend away (planned since June).

Not feeling well ladies! Have a doc appointment Sat morning. Last night every time I turned from one side to the other, the world spun. Today I can't focus on much, when I walk around the room spins. Nausea but nothing. Neck is achy, so do I have a pinched nerve maybe? Do I have vertigo? Maybe its an ear infection? No fever. When my nausea goes away I have had cereal. I hate not feeling well. Even watching TV isn't possible. I am sensitive to light. Scrolling isn't too bad if I do it slow. I seem to be whining....

Don't change this thread! I love it the way it is.

Becca - sounds like vertigo to me. Could be result of ear infection. Drugs do wonders!

Okie - so sorry to hear about your BIL! I'll bet things have been crazy at your end. Condolences to you and your family :'(

Becca - I'm glad you have a doc appointment on Saturday, hopefully it will be an easy fix - maybe the crystals need to be realigned. The dizziness and nausea is the worst. I wonder if something like Dramamine might not calm it down? I say that because when I get seasick/airsick I feel that way. Just an idea.

Sue - Hope your DH's MRI finds the problem.

Rye - you rock with your 20% loss! Isn't it fun to see those stats?

    Lisa
    - you are a go-getter, lol. Thanks for doing the "group" thing. I like this gang just the way it us, nice to have new folks drop in and join. We sometimes have fellows who lose their way and pop in but I think they get scared off pretty quickly, lol.

It's cold (44) and dark and quite rainy tonight. Hoping to convince the pup to go outside and do her business before she goes to bed, otherwise she'll wake me up after midnight. Maybe she'll perform for DH, lol.

    Have a good evening!

Had a wake up call yesterday, decided I wanted to wear jeans. Had to try three pair before any of them fit, and that pair was tight! So, today I went to the gym, and have been eating good food, no crap! Just need to keep that up for a few months..... or more!
My chiropractor feels that I have been under a lot of stress for a few years now, she's right, lots of stuff going on. I'll spare you all the details, but losing my parents didn't help any. Anyway, the point is, she told me that I need to start saying "no", I need to do stuff that I want to do rather than stuff that I feel I need to do. I've been trying to figure out how to watch what I eat, while still doing what I want to do. Plus, I also needed to figure out how to "justify" cleaning my house and last night I finally figured it out! I WANT to take care of my home and I WANT to take care of my health! This is my new mantra, hopefuly it will work for me!
Machka, glad the stitches are out and that you are feeling better!
Katla, glad your dgs is okay also glad your dd can count on her mil for help! Sounds like a tough decision will have to be made in regards to the boat, good luck with that one....
Penny, thanks for the update on Mike! Glad he'sdoing well. Frustrating about having to go back and forth for no reason!
I had intended to comment on many other posts, but didn't make any notes and my memory has failed me

Hi all: I vote to leave the thread the way it is. Groups in my experience tend to fall apart but in this thread we have many who have been here long term, some who come and go, and always a few new ones to keep us vital. I saw the doctor this morning and have a Eustachian tube infection so now am on antibiotics for a week. Eating has not gone so well today since I had to fast until my 10:40 appointment and then was starving and ate too much.

Katla - Glad DGS is doing better. The boat thing is really hard. You hate to see it just sit there but there is some cost to it and it seems more and more certain that DH will not be able to enjoy it again. It has been a big part of your life so that makes it hard too. Hoping the right solution shows up for you.

Marcelyn - The pottery is gorgeous!

NYKaren - Hope the eczema continues to resolve.

    Felicia - Sending traveling mercies.

Michelle - What ratio of vinegar to water do you use in your floor cleaner?

Machka - Glad dental issues are getting better.

Penny - Glad Mike the reindeer is making it.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Did Jari Love's Extremely Ripped and Chiseled DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a step aerobics DVD.

I guess I'm lucky, I can't say that I have real bad hot flashes. There are times, tho, when I get REALLY REALLY warm, sometimes to the point that I'm sweating. That's when I really wish I could crawl into the freezer. But I do keep some grapes in the freezer and have them. That seems to squelch this down. It's really interesting to read how some of you have such bad hot flashes. I remember when I couldn't exercise, sweat would be pouring down the backs of my legs (weird place for that to happen), but that hasn't happened since I've been exercising. I really think that exercise helps, at least for me.

M - I'd never heard about a semi-vegetarian/Mediterranian diet helping with hot flashes, but we tend to eat that way (at least I do, I'm not a fan at all of red meat and would rather fish or chicken or even pork than red meat). Perhaps that's why my hot flashes aren't real bad???? Who knows? Wonderful that the stitches are out. I can see how running can be somewhat of a problem right now, but glad you have other options until things heal up more.

Heather - how thoughtful of you to give your friend that bracelet.

Have a question: when I'm at the Green Room, I need to stand close to the phone (at least most of the time) but I'm wondering if there's some sort of exercise I can do. Ideas? I can't walk around, unfortunately.

Glad you liked the chameleon. Wish I knew what I was doing as far as the painting. The blue is somewhat streaky. But then again, that gives it some depth. And, honestly, you'll be looking at it from like 5' away so people probably won't notice it as much.

KJ - yes, those are veges. I just wanted to make something "holiday"-ish

Sitting here eating my breakfast of (now don't be like dh and go "eewww") barley, peas, kale and quinoa with a Danimal on top.

I agree, I wouldn't like to see this be a closed group. I like that people come and go new people are added, etc.

If we can't link, that also means that we can't see Lisa's blog. Boo.

Lisa - I love reading your blog

Wonder if my posting that video of the wedding is now a no-no???

A trigger for me to have a warm spell seems to be if I have some junk food

Terry - Jessica usually draws the design for me on the bisq (ceramic). She is good, too. And so creative. I could never do what she does

    Yea Rye!!!

If I have something to eat late at night, that's when I gain weight. Usually I have a piece of fruit, tho

Allie - so glad that Tom is now seeing the error of his ways

Yvonnie - the chameleon is going to go pool-side...lol (like all my other "creations")

NYKaren and Sue in WA - get better fast

Sue in WA - There is a certain ratio, I honestly don't remember what it is. I usually use a 50/50 solution. The nice thing is that vinegar is cheap.

Volunteered at the Green Room then went to Ollies (discount place) and Hamricks with a friend of mine. Then went to Food Lion to get things on sale. I will have to go back to Ollies to return some things. See, I got stuffing cubes and Jess just told me that the girl whose place we were going to go to is not going to have Thanksgiving so I don't need the cubes. I also got some noodles, but I'll exchange one of the packages of spaghetti I got for a package of the noodles. Newcomer bowling tonight.

Tomorrow I want to go to Aldi early and then Vince wants to put up the arches for christmas.

Evie, good for you figuring out some things. You go girl!

Becca, hope you can find some answers soon. ((Hugs))

    Okie, ((Hugs))

Karen, hope you find some relief soon. ((Hugs))

Marcelyn, never new there was so much involved in making pottery. Thanks for sharing the process.

kJ, well done leaving the candy alone.

Allie, so happy for you that soon everything will be finished. You have been so strong through the whole process. Tom will be kicking himself in the a$$to let you go.

Off to bed and book. Terry

Those rules in regards to this site are interesting, not sure I ever read them before....
I realized when I came back on here that part of my last post disappeared. Sure hope I didn't have anything interesting to say at the end! lol
Allie, I'm not sure I'd be trusting Tom either, but if it will speed up the process (I'm sure you would like to just be done!) then maybe it will be okay (as long as he doesn't try to screw you over!!)
I also wouldn't like this to be a closed group, I wouldn't be a part of it otherwise as I just stumbled across it, like many others I've seen recently.
Lisa, great idea for posting a link to this group!
Hope everyone has a great day! Hugs to those who need them, congrats to those who have had a success!

The rules are quite similar to what other forums I participate in have, although perhaps in slightly more detail which is good.

Also, if you leave the page where you're typing your reply to go to a previous page in this thread, or to go to a link, or to go anywhere else ... you will lose your post.

You can solve that by copying what you type so you can paste it back in again later or by opening MFP in another tab and looking up whatever you need to find there.

That said, occasionally I forget. :)

And, because I'm that kind of girl, I went and started a group called Women Ages 50+. The only thing it contains is a link redirecting them here. Which I'll update each month. It's possible I may need professional help... : B)

    Love y'all,
    Lisa

    I'll look for it. :)

While I find the threads more convenient, a group might be more private. After all, everything we type here in these threads is right there out in the open for anyone in the world to read. But I don't know what kind of security there is on groups.

Lanette & Rye: There has never been a posted no-no list that I know of out side of no rude behavior. This situation seems to have been caused by some of us not knowing rules we have never seen. :grumble:

Okiewoman: I'm sorry about the loss of your brother-in-law.

Becca: I hope you feel better soon. DH & I are both feeling a bit off today. I have a headache. Your situation sounds much worse. Good luck for a speedy recovery. (((hugs)))

Suebdew: I hope the MRI gives good information. :star:

Sue in WA: You've got a clear view of our challenge with the boat. Thanks for your hope for a good solution.

Machka: Thanks for researching the rules for us. :flowerforyou: I almost always open a word document beside the thread so I can make comments as I read. Then I copy and paste my word document into the thread. It works well for me.

It isn't very late yet, but I'm tired. I hope to see you all tomorrow.

I'll also add that there is a Welcome email in the Introduce Yourself subforum which has links to the Forum Guidelines and FAQ, etc. :)

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10041082/welcome-to-the-myfitnesspal-community#latest

Oh, actually, I see that particular thread (a "Sticky") is at the top of each subforum, including this one (Motivation & Support).

It is also a good idea to have a glance in here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/mfp-news-announcements from time to time. Today, for example, there were evidently issues with quoting which they announced there.

Anyway, it's nothing to worry about. Every forum has guidelines of some sort and it's a good idea to familiarise ourselves with them, but from my experience, it would take a lot more than posting a link or something for the mods to become really upset with anyone. :)

I also vote to leave this on open forum. Just to look at the many women throughout the month is a testimony as to why it should be open. Is it ok if we say 'I got this recipe from skinny Taste?

Well I went to sleep last night around 9:30 and woke up at 11:30 this morning!! I guess the good Lord thought I needed 14 hours of sleep!

Had my appointment for my pain contract today. She first starts off with how is your pain and what are you taking. So I tell her I have a nagging pain and take 1 Narco and an Aleve at night and Advil during the day as I need it. So she asks why I need a pain contract. Hey, it wasn't my idea. So no pain contract anymore! No peeing in a bottle to make sure I am following the rules. But then there was the matter of the B/P. When I first got in the office the nurse took it and it was 200/74. Now that is a strange B/P. The lower number shouldn't be that far from the top when the top is as high as it is. So they tried a different cuff, then they tried it manually with two different cuffs. Then the nurse practitioner and the student nurse practitioner took it twice a piece. It was always 200/100 each time all of them took it. So the brought the doctor over and he took it. My poor arm was hurting and when that cuff is pimped up that far, it hurts and pain causes your B/P to rise. So tmorrow I will start with my new BP pill. Yep, I will now take 6 different medicines. Now I have taken it everlasting times since I got home and it's not nearly that high although it is way to high. The number for hypertension if you have risk factors is ow 120/80. So mine is way to high.

Okie, I am so sorry for your families loss.

Katla, could it be that your husbands health dclning is making it hard for him to see you winterizung the boat. He may be realizing that his time with the boat is decreasing and he also sees that you are having to do more of the work. It's a man thing.

    Lov you all, Joyce Indiana
