There were alligators in the entire park. This state park is known for the alligator. Kind of a refuge. But alligators aren’t out at night. They like sunshine. I only saw two on the whole run for me. Disappointing. Lol. You run about ten feet from them so you are close but they are well fed by nature only and leave people alone. Never had an attack at this park but they are strict super strict about not feeding them. And no edible food scraps left. They work hard to keep them wild and they are strict about dogs and children getting close to the water. Signs everywhere warn you. You definitely know that you should steer clear of them.

Yes that was Seattle. Kirby just wanted a pic of him kissing the pig, no reason or major love of bacon2
-
Pip - love your Seattle pix, looks like the Holiday Spirit is in full force! The one of Kirby kissing the pig is too cute, lol. I do miss being close to Pike Place Market. In the "olden days" there was tons of free parking under the viaduct and sometimes I'd run down there on my lunch hour.
Marcelyn - Congrats to you and your son! Very impressive and inspirational. How long have you been running marathons? Those gators added some excitement...wow!!
Katla - custard pie sounds yummy!!! I gave up trying to make pie crust years ago so moved on to buying the frozen crusts.... I haven't made a pie in ages.
Rye - that picture you created is really nice. You are very, very talented!!
Okie - very nice photo. You look terrific!
Last night I went to put our cat into the shop - turned the back porch light on and there were three huge raccoons on the sidewalk. They took off quickly. Thankfully I had kept the pup in the house and didn't let her go out with me. I see they helped themselves to some apples in a container out by the potting shed.
There's a new "pet center" opening up about 10 minutes from our house, I just got back from the tour. It's a state of the art dog and cat boarding kennel with training, webcams in each kennel, vet visits twice a day - they specialize in boarding pets with medical needs and also do regular boarding for people going on vacation by the day or week, and have a doggy day care.
This was the dream of a local vet and now it has come true - she lives next door to the facility. Eventually she'll have her practice there and our county will finally have a 24/7 emergency vet.
That's the latest!

Terry, they are adorable!

Fabulous Terry!
Katla - I think blind baking the custard tart is a good idea. I have never made one, but it would be usual to do so, I believe. Google instructions.
Seattle looks like great fun, Pip.

Wendy, that just cracked me up! I didn't see it when I first read the post, so had to scroll back (fortunately still on same page!). That hike sounds like quite the undertaking! Glad you are preparing in advance and going with other experienced trampers!
Allie, the pup sounds wonderful! Hope that the job situation gets settled for you. One thing to keep in mind is people may not be quite as eager to be doing the interviewing etc this close to Christmas, so don't get disheartened if you don't hear from some of them right away. It will work out.
Pip, great photos of Seattle! Love that city! Great photos of the two of you also. Looks like you had a lot of fun!
Too many to remember and work keeps interrupting!
Went to my boss's home last night and we decorated gingerbread houses. I ate WAY too much, but when I jumped on the scale to survey the damage this morning I found that I was DOWN a pound!!! Not quite sure how that happened, but am going to try to not mess it up by eating too much again tonite! and tomorrow and the day after etc....
Hope everyone has a great day!

Terry: Adorable ornaments. Could pass as ZZTop tree toppers.
Rye: Lovely gift for your niece. Your story and photo of the feral cat choked me up. There is a black cat that comes around here and talks to my cat through the window. We thought of adopting him, but learned from a neighbor he has an owner. With all the coyotes around here, we are always concerned when we don't see him for a few days....
Barbie: Those handmade ornaments are exquisite and so unique.
Margaret: Your tree is gorgeous and I love hearing the story behind the ornaments.
Katla: I found Fairlife milk at my local Walmart superstore and have also seen it at a couple different health food stores. The yogurt came out fabulous.
Marcelyn, Matchka and Pip: Proud of you and your athletic feats.
I had the condo gym to myself this morning so did my workout with Handel's Messiah blasting. Oh yeah, I sang along with the altos.
Stay well friends. Keep up your positive, loving spirit. You inspire me every day.

Tucked into bed and catching up. Love all the pics.
Glad you liked the gnomes. They were pretty easy to make. I figure they cost about $5 each to make as I got just about everything from the dollar store. They are made from chenille socks and filled with rice. I made it 6 and have tomorrow go to get more items to make one more. They are going to be gifts for friends and and my cousin. I think I’ll see how well liked they are and if they are a hit, then they may be something I want to put in a craft show next year
Well that’s about all for now.

Good Evening Friends,
I got so very far behind that I finally skipped some which I hate to do. I want to know everything going on with all of you and how each of you are doing…..but sometimes it doesn’t work out. Please know I’m thinking of you and hope all is well with each of you. Yesterday morning was the Brunch I planned for the Women of the Moose Christmas party. The food was good except for one thing and everyone had a good time. We had a gift exchange, I gave everyone their favors which seemed to go over well. I got large scented candles for them and a candle lighter. Each one was in a gift bag with red and green tissue paper. As part of the table decorations I got a Christmas mug for each lady and had them on the tables. As soon as we left the Brunch we headed to the staging area for the Christmas parade that we were in. It had been raining and cold for the past three days but finally stopped raining that morning. We never got any snow but there was plenty to the west of us. The temperature was in the low 40’s and the wind chill made it feel almost 10 degrees colder. It was a cold day to be sitting up on the back of a convertible, I’ll tell you that. The parade had a good turn out even with the chilly temperatures. May people on the sides of the streets were not only bundled up in winter garb but wrapped in blankets as well. There were lots of dogs with their coats and sweaters on. I’ll try to post a picture of us in the car. Well that didn't work and I'm exhausted so going to bed.
This is a busy week at the Moose. Tomorrow night I have a joint board meeting, Wednesday is the Kid’s Christmas Party for the Special Ed kids from school and we expect around 70 in attendance counting teachers, Thursday night is The Christmas Dinner for a special group of the ladies, and Saturday is the Kid’s Christmas Party for the children and grandchildren of the Lodge members. Thank goodness I have done all my Christmas shopping except for a couple of stocking stuffers.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and warm wishes to all of you.
I Love you

For a truly amazing feat..... not that my son did the 100 miles in 29 hours but that the winner of the 100 mile race finished in 14 hours! That means he ran an 8:24 mile for 100 miles! He passed me twice and he was really moving. He had pacers that kept him on pace. They were allowed for 3 of his 6 loops. He was trying to break the US record which is around 12 hours. I can’t imagine!
Celebrated my youngest child’s 30th birthday. So for 1 year all my kids are in the same decade. Next year my son turns 40. Hard to believe.
Someone asked how long I had run marathons. This was my first full length marathon. Up to this point I’ve stuck with half-marathons. I didn’t start running until 2012 so I’ve only been at it a little over 5 years.

Terry love your crafts. I used to do a lot of crafts. Been keeping up with the post but not much to add to the conversation.

HI guys, been a long but nice day. Sang in the choir. People in the sanctuary saw me up there it's my sling on but when I cMe out of the choir loft with a fracture boot there were a lot of surprised faces. Kind of hard going down the steps with smal steps and rails but I did it. No problems holding the hymnal but all the Christmas are in the front of the hymnal so the heavy part of the hymnal was on my right hand.
The kids had their Christmas program tonight. They come up with the concept, write the whole things and pick the music. Some of the music is hand written by a couple of the older youth. I hope we have some future choir members from the older kids. We don't have a college group so the ones who graduated last year are still in the youth group and in a leadership role. There were 8 kids that played the guitar!
None of the pictures show up. I just get this little box with a ? In it. That's my little whine.

Thanks everyone!!
I must say that after a 5 km run and a 160 km bicycle ride, my legs have attained a level of tiredness I haven't experienced in a while. Went for a semi-brisk 2 km walk at lunch to do some more Christmas shopping and felt like I was dragging my legs around with me rather than them propelling me!!
Both my husband and I are at work today, and while I'm feeling sorry for me and my legs, I wonder how he's doing. He's actually got to be active at work! I'll be surprised if we go for an after-work walk tonight. A bit of rest might be good.
I'm drinking lots of water and trying to get a bit of protein as well.
And I, too, would be singing with the altos.

Did a Stott Pilates for Weight Loss DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones DVD, hold my plank then take the extremepump class.
Allie - one time we had a mouse DIE in the wall. Not pleasant, not at all. Sure hope you don't have that happen to you. That would be a real good reason for you landlord to get rid of him. I'd get that certification. It's always good to have something like that under your belt.
Regarding sleep, one of the reasons I'm sure that I'm gaining weight is because I'm not sleeping well, I'm a bit stressed. So stress means (for me) usually less sleep and more cravings.
Okie - how can you win a tacky sweater contest when you weren't wearing a sweater??? Loved your dress, BTW, and hubby's jacket
KJ - boy, I sure don't miss the days of all that snow! You certainly got yourself a great workout, that's for sure. Your tree sounds lovely. Do you have any holiday stuffed animals? You can put them (if you have them) under the tree.
Helped Vince put out more Christmas decorations. Got the manger scene all wired up, the big star that I got last year, and Santa with the runway lights (and reindeer) all hooked up. Tomorrow is bowling and then ceramics at night so we probably won't get any decorating done. But there's Tuesday. Then Wednesday we go to VA.
Ordered an ornament for Denise and Pete last night. It's a life preserver with their names and 2017 on the back. I know his mother is going to get them something really cheesy like "first Christmas". denise talked to Vince about now wanting to preserve her gown. Personally, I think that's a waste of money. I paid to have my wedding gown preserved, and where is it now? In storage. By the time it comes back in style, my great-grandchildren may want it. she didn't mention anything about it to me. She did thank me for not making her feel guilty about spending Christmas up there.
Kellie - welcome! Heather is right, a 10# loss is wonderful!
Made ginger cookies for Christmas Eve. I know Colby likes them. Like I said yesterday, this is about the most difficult time of the year for me. All the baking etc. One of my ways of combating this is to have shirataki noodles a lot. As a matter of fact, I bought more the other day. Vince and I went to WalMart this morning. Around here the time to go to WM is early in the morning. Most people are at church. I usually go on Sat. night. After WM we put out more of the decorations. Putting out decorations in 40 degree weather isn't nearly as nice as putting them out in 60 degree weather.
Rye - great picture!
Came in from putting out some decorations and I couldn't figure out why my feet were so cold. Then I realized it was because my socks were soaked. I remembered there was this drain in the front yard (we were going to extend it, now I'm really going to get on Vince's case to extend it) and I stepped in the water in it.
Lanette - how wonderful that you're getting a 24/7 emergency care center. The one for a few counties is pretty close to us. We consider ourselves grateful that we can make it therein such a short period of time
pip - great photos. thanks for sharing
DJ - sounds like the party was a hugh success. Boy, you sure will be busy. The Moose is lucky to have someone as dedicated as you are.

BTW - this is the first time since 2011 that we've completed a CAM challenge (Century-A-Month)! I wasn't sure we'd ever do one again after that one in 2011, and November and December this year were particularly challenging what with workload and logistics. So it does feel good to have completed it!

My nephew in Issaquah WA posted this on FB this evening to thank me for the ornament I sent him. I think his picture is breathtaking (with or without the ornament) He said "it looks good on our tree at home too". By the way this is a perfect example of why I put the time and work into making the ornaments and giving them, because they love them and I love that they love them
