Lenora!!!!!!! So glad to see you back here. You have us quite a scare. It I guess you knew that already. So glad you were on the phone with your BFF. I hope she knows how important she is to you. We owe her so much. Enjoy your pampering from Louis and Cracker.

I picked up a few things to wear while running. I've got a huge wardrobe of cycling attire, but was kind of stumped when it came to what to wear while running.

Also, while I am asking the question ... how do you carry your phones so you can log your runs on Strava?

The mini-pockets in the back of tights aren't big enough for phones.

And did you get a gait analysis and get fitted up with the right shoes soon after you started running?

Machka, I have a velcro strap- on arm pocket to stick my phone in, or if it is cool enough, I zip it into the pocket of my hoodie, but quite often I just run with my phone in my hand, LOL. I got shin splints a few years back when training for a half marathon and I went to a podiatrist, foot doctor who did a gait analyses and looked at my old worn shoes and studied my feet intensely. She made insert pads for my running shoes which I am still using in my new running shoes several years later. I have never had a problem with my legs since using her inserts. She was well worth the $100 it cost to see her and buy the inserts. Maybe it was $200. Whatever, it was worth it!

I had a second opinion from the local mechanic who also tested Daisy Duke and he also thinks it is a head gasket problem. Great.

I will sleep well tonight. The Tongariro Crossing has been postponed till Friday. The strong wind forecast for tomorrow has made the hike too dangerous...

Lenora, I feel like God has given us all a Christmas present when he gave you back to us!

Lenora - So glad to see you back home and posting! We were so worried. <3

Going to make chocolate truffles today and update my delivery order for Friday. Need stuff for our visitors the following Wednesday. Must put my thinking cap on. We are away for Christmas and most of the 26th. I will also do a quick pop out to buy eggs.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Kim - Thanks for the updates. <3

    Morning, all...

    Lenora
, so glad to see you!

Machka, I use an MP3 player when I run, they're cheap, and I know it won't ring while I'm running! I wind the cord around the band on a baseball hat, with just enough length for the headphones to reach my ears, so dangling cords. They're pretty cheap, and you can often transfer your phone music right over to them via a computer.

    Michele, thinking about your Brian.

Becca, thinking about your older Navy son.

    Kim
    , I'm working on drama-free myself.

Love what I'm hearing around here in terms of advice and comfort. Y'all are a genuine and amazing part of my life, and I'm grateful you're here.

I've run the last two days, which makes me very happy. My knees have come to the point now that they hurt whether I run or whether I don't, and won't see the doc until early March, so decided to just run anyway. About a mile-and-a-half a day right now... better than sitting on my butt, and so far, the pain is bearable. Will talk to the doc about replacements in March. KT Flex Tape is such a lifesaver right now, wearing it all the time.

    Love y'all,

Lisa - Happy to see you back running. <3 My DSIL , that we saw yesterday, used to be really obese and lost a lot of weight on the 5:2 diet. She has recently taken up running, despite dodgy knees, and completed her first 5k ParkRun at the weekend. She was so happy about it! She said she was very slow, but didn't have to walk. Plus it was icy. :o:o She is looking great these days. <3

Barbara - A bit of a mixed bag on the results, but overall pretty good. I do balance exercises every day as part of my regime, but I don't know anything about neuropathy. Balance and core are so important as we age. Can you do Tai Chi at home?

OK. Must get going on my typing and stop trying to put it off. :(

Barbara - I make the deviled eggs with cream cheese, sour cream, horseradish, finely chopped cheddar cheese, diced jalapeño, garlic powder, seasoned salt, black pepper and crumbled bacon in the filling instead of mayo, mustard and relish. I tend to play with the filling each time and put weird things in them.

Just a little FYI for everyone ...

There have been some changes/clarifications of the reactions ... those little choices you can click at the bottom of a post (Insightful, Inspiring, Like, Woo, and Hug)

Have a read over these threads ...

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10623816/reaction-changes#latest

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10623894/the-origin-and-meaning-of-woo/p1

Specifically note that Woo is not a reaction of encouragement, and if the comments in the thread above are indeed correct, 5 Woos will make a post disappear to be checked by the Mods.

Stay tuned for more information coming in 2018 ...

Lenora Take good care of yourself now!

Weight training question: I’m working with weights twice a week for about 6 weeks now - and one thing is very obvious. My left side is considerably weaker than the right. I’m wondering if I should hold my right side reps and weights back until the left side catches up?

Fa La La La La, La La La La

    Rye

Rye - When I first started strength training, I was the same way.... one side stronger than the other. As I recall, I did hold back a bit until the other side "caught up" - it took me maybe a month.

Good for you getting your training going!

Machka - thank you for checking into the "reactions".

I always thought the "Woo" was like "Woo-hoo" = well done!

This is from a post by an admin last June:

    Hey folks!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our poll for a new reaction. We had a very clear winner.

The winning vote goes to... Woo!

Since Woo is a different type of reaction than anything we've enabled in the past, we're going to start this off in beta mode.

Woo can mean two things. You can click it both to mean woo as in woo-hoo or to express that you think an idea or approach is too good to be true.

We hope you enjoy the new reaction!!

(((Kim))) good to hear from you. I understand why it is important to minimize your time with your brother. I have a brother like that too. I do not feel safe around him. That says it all.

I am still reading Why We Sleep. He makes many interesting point on how vital sleep is to our health. I seem to be at a plateau of six solid hours. Since I have improved my sleep practices. I do notice less leg cramping at night and less times waking up. Weight is holding steady. I do notice I am more patient.

Yes ... but outside these threads, Woo was almost always used negatively. It always took me aback when someone in here "Woo-d" my post. However, it was confusing having it for two very different meanings, so they changed it today ... confirmed that it is a negative thing.

Ah, unless they have someone like you who keeps on top of it, there will like be lots of folks thinking Woo is a good thing. I am probably one of the ones who would "woo" your (and other's) posts meaning it in a very positive way! <3

Machka, thanks for the info on the reactions. There is a product out there called "Stashbandz" if you look for it on Amazon (sorry, REALLY leery of adding links these days after getting my hand slapped) that is a soft band that goes around your waist to carry a phone and other things while running, biking etc.

Machka FYI Amazon Australia which just started business this month has MP3 players under 20 dollars.

But I think the fanny pack you posted might work. My niece uses something similar except it is an armband.

Machka, thanks for the info on the reactions.

    It was confusing!

Here in the Women's 50+ thread, I was pretty sure people were using it for good ... but elsewhere it was mostly to indicate disagreement. Mostly used to indicate false ideas, like if someone announced that the only way to lose weight was to stop eating by 4 pm. People would come in and flag that as Woo.

And now, evidently if someone is flagged Woo 5 times, the post will be hidden for moderation. It looked like people were experimenting with that in one of the threads I linked to. :)

Interesting ... it's quite wide. I wonder how it would be in the heat.
