Michelle - No hospital or even a MD's office is supposed to tell you 'if they have someone as a patient' unless you have signed paperwork telling them it is 'ok' to do so. My BF called my GYN's office the other day and was told 'they did not have anyone there by my name'. But, my cellphone was dead.
I like taking words and trying to find acronyms/acrostics for them. STOP ... "Spin Tires On Pavement" if you work hard enough some come easy.
Oh, "Chain Gang" ... your bracelets are made out of 'chains' and you are selling them to a 'gang' of women.
Cracker has still be right up under me; but, she is also doing the same with Louis. Since it is raining today, she has been sleeping for the most part.
Take care - Have a Happy and Safe New Year (and going out for New Year's Eve). We are staying right at home, Louis thinks the people going to Time Square for about watching the ball drop is a 'crazy' idea. Waiting for 12 hours needing to relieve themselves and eating ... that would also be a problem for both of us.

Barbie those are some great commandments, you obviously gave them lots of thought. I'd love to steal them all but believe that to really incorporate into my life I need to go through some kind of process to develop for myself. What steps did you take first? I do better starting small, contrary to my inclinations
Lanette starting veggies on heat mats, I'll try that!
Penny "...then we dance Christmas out" Love it!
pip Running toe socks? Wow! "Don't expect..." hahahahahahahaHAH!
Allie good for your son and glad Alfie brings joy to your Dad. Sounds like he's decided to go for the surgery?
Pg 72 bottom, time to find those dumbbells.
Hugs to all,

I have been running in them for years.
Running over pebbles, no doesn't hurt, I do mainly road running, so no rocks to speak of, like riunning barefoot. No support, natural running.3 -
Wendy - thank you for telling us about your bee/honey business. So interesting you are selling honey to China - seems like everything we buy here (clothing, utensils, some food) is from China, it doesn't occur to me they are also customers, lol. Hope it all works out and you can directly export.
Allie - your dad is so lucky you are close by to help look after him.
The lentil soup turned out great. Do any of you like Progresso lentil soup? It's long been one of my favorites and this recipe turned out real close! I see that using the teensy French lentils is the key.
If anyone wants the recipe, let me know and I'll post it here. I didn't work out the nutrition but I'm betting it's close to the Progresso label and that's what I'm using to log it into the MFP food diary.
I'm rushing around getting dogs fed and out to do their business soon before the firecrackers start up. Rosie the pup doesn't seem phased by them, but old Sophie stops and shivers and runs back to the house. We'll put a tight sweater on her tonight which will act like a Thundershirt, and put a blanket in the closet for her to curl up on.
I'm going to put my walking shoes on and get a mile in this afternoon while the sun is still out. It's 38f right now - and to many of you, I'm sure that would feel downright balmy. Sending warm thoughts!!

Barbie: I love your Happiness Commandments! You are a wise woman. I'm saving them in a place where I can remind myself now and then.
Wendy: I have a neighbor who is a real fan of Menucha Honey. She gets hers from someplace "down under," but I don't know where.
(((SHARON)))
Lanette: I have eaten and enjoyed Kale. DH was on a kale kick a few years ago and cooked it in a wok as part of a stir-fry. It was good and smelled okay, too. As a child we had German immigrants as neighbors, and they boiled what they called Chicken Kale. Very smelly. :grumble: The smell is always my first thought when I hear the word Kale even though I know how good DH's tastes. I don't think his has ever smelled bad, either. :flowerforyou:
Penny: It is great to see your post & to learn a little bet more about Scandinavian Christmas traditions. I love the photos. Thank you!
Wendy: I had eggplant lasagna for the first time last summer. It was delicious! I got the recipe from DSIL but haven't made it yet. I haven't seen any eggplant in the market. :flowerforyou:
Pip: I love this! "Don't expect any New Years resolutions from me. I intend on staying the same awkward, sarcastic, foul-mouthed delight you've all come to know and love." Me, too!
Allie: I am so glad that your son is stepping up to support his Grandpa. You've clearly raised him right.
SueBDew: I'm also a fan of Doc Martin. I've seen Martin Clunes on a horsey program, too. He had some draft horses he was having trained.
Yvonne in TX: So sorry for the loss of your dad.
Becca : I'm so glad you were able to spend Christmas with your sons. Yay! :flowerforyou: Thank you for posting "You are Not Everyone's Cup of Tea." It helps me put my obnoxious neighbor into perspective. I'm not her cup of tea, & she is not mine. :noway:
Rori: I hope you will enjoy your cruise.
Sharon in Lethbridge: Warm thoughts for you, too. I hope that 2018 will be a good year for us all.
Lisa in NC: I read your description of the "crapweasel sperm donor" to DH and it made both of us laugh out loud. You have a unique way with words. No wonder you're an author.
I'm out of time, but haven't read all the way through the posts. I hope everyone has a good day today. Best news for us regarding our dog is that he is doing well. He had a slipped disc and it seems to be back in its proper location. Yay!!! That is the best gift of this Christmas season after the birth of our grandson and the good health of our adult children & grandchildren. I am so grateful.

Warmest wishes to all for a safe, healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year.
Time to nap before line dance pot luck party. Expect to be home and asleep by 10 ;}

Lanette I like Progresso lentil soup very much.
Michele Any chance the day you didn't log was the wedding day? I bet that was a busy, whirlwind kind of day...
We went to lunch with a dear friend. Greek food, very yummy. It was great to see my friend, who is a former neighbor and a good friend. We haven't seen her for more than a year.
Happy New Year!

Rye, you exotic teabag...I am an original peacock phoenix rising from the ashes of my chicken coop determined to reach the blue sky I can just catch a glimpse of. I have had to re-invent myself after a traumatic life event in 2012 and resurrection is a theme in my life.
Barbara, we have most of the same problems USA beekeepers have with mysterious hive collapse as well as varroa mites and we must be vigilant to keep our bees healthy and protected from wasps that rob them of their honey stores, as well as human wasps who would steal our source of income. We have very strict government rules and must burn our hives if AFB (American Foul Brood) is found in them whereas Americans can use treatments to get rid of it. Imagine burning $1000 worth of stock. We have had to do it half a dozen times already...but my husband is good at making sure it doesn't spread to any other hives... Hives will starve to death during the winter if they aren't fed every two or three weeks, they will die if their queen dies or stops laying eggs, they will swarm and fly away if the hive feels too crowded...We beekeepers earn our money and I won't even tell you about the dangerous farm tracks my husband has negotiated with wheels hanging off cliffs and fully loaded with beehives... eeeek! But let me tell you some of the good things...the wonderful sweet smell of honey that clings to everything, even the ute my husband drives, the satisfaction of opening a hive and seeing busy, thriving, contented bees, the joy of spreading our own honey on toast and pancakes, the excitement of counting newly made queen cells and creating nukes of brand new hives...

Nearly New Year here. We have been watching Little Women, a BBC series I recorded over Christmas. We've watched the first two parts of three. It was my all time favourite book when I was a child and highly influenced me becoming a writer. The other book I loved was Heidi. Also What Katy Did.
Happy New Year my lovely ladies!

Home now, after waking up at 3am, leaving at 4 am from middle son and DILs apartment to head to PDX. Youngest nuke son had a 6:30am flight tko Atlanta, then on to Charleston. It was nice having him home from 16th to 26th, then stayed at middle son's from 26th to today. They have two dogs, that jumped all over, on the couch, on you, licking your ears, up your nose! Husband, younger son and I have never grown up with dogs so it was quite an experience! They also do not have cable, or a radio. Husband and I are used to being informed with local news, local paper and the like. We both adapted and adjusted. Love our son and DIL, but she is not a cook, nor a helper. I was making scrambled eggs and using some ham I found, served on paper plates.... * long sigh*.
Miss my eldest son, can't call him or write him. Until he writes first with his on base Addy.
Christmas stuff down, looking at my minimalist looking home and breathing long and deep!
Love you guys, hoping nothing but the best for each and every one of you! Type to you next year!
Becca
Not sure what PDX is,but that was sure an early start! I agree, the young generation does it their way,but so did we.....
DD asked if I was making cabbage rolls tomorrow........no & nothing else either. DH has out patient surgery Wed & I like to clear the decks before & left overs are not in the plan. Cooking for 7 ppl no longer interests me......
kind of “been there/done that”.Just having what we want, when we want works for us.Sounding selfish here
Grandaughter saw 4” of snow starting just after she arrived from
Fl.Grpa asked what she thought if it,”very pretty,but I’m over it”.LOL,
She tells it like she sees it.......her Mama’s DD.
Hope your son is doing well.We never get over that worry. Our Marine Grson leaves for SC Thursday.A 12 hr drive.
Our decorations went back in hiding a day or two early.Needed to do a good cleaning & the less to look at,the better.

One time Heather, I made lasagna, and was so proud that I got so many layers in the pan! I used a spatula patting down each layer. * Note to self* if you pat the layers down too vigorously, your lasagna is PURE pasta, which mine was! I patted the sauce from each layer!!!! It was one heavy pan!
Hugs!

Last day of 2017. This year I kept my weight down but didn't achieve my exercise goals seven of the twelve months. Life seemed to get in the way of my exercise plans and I think I have to be more flexible with my schedule. Also I have to attempt to be more regular with my daily logging of food and exercise. I'm delighted that I've logged into MFP for over 100 days in a row and I'm looking forward to 2018. It's a new year, with new experiences and challenges.
Thank you to everyone who shares ideas and thoughts. I look forward to reading everyday.
Happy New Year

I have a bunch of facial masks and stuff that I bought when I was selling Avon (I was pretty much my best customer!) and I've decided that I need to either use them or get rid of them. I started using one the other night, kind of liked the results! I also need to clean up my space, de-clutter, organize etc. This includes papers from various things that need to be filed or shredded, my craft stuff and the Christmas decorations.
My mother sold Avon for many years, so I've got a cupboard full of Avon stuff that I've been hauling around the world with me. Because we've finally settled in one spot for the moment, I started using or tossing things and I'm slowly whittling it down.
And I'm slowly working on my home office. I have to say that it is starting to look better. There's still a whole lot to do in there but I can actually find some stuff now.
In the main part of the house, everything is pretty good. Once in a while, I feel the need to tidy a cupboard shelf in the kitchen (that need is growing with one of the shelves), or to put everything where it actually belongs in our dressing room (did that the other day), or something, but my home office is the last room in the place that needs help. A couple years ago, I set up the bookshelves and unpacked all the books. So that's a start. Now I need to get in there and try to finish it ... in my spare time!!
One little bit at a time, I suppose.

M - MFP says that I only logged in 364 days. I know I logged in every day. It was really interesting to see the stats for the community. Oh, that's right, there were some days when I didn't close out my diary, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Maybe that's what they're going by
Happy New Year to all you wonderful ladies. I feel so blessed to have you all in my life. Love you all
That's what mine said too ... I wondered if it were a time zone difference thing.

Happy New Year, my dear people...
Heather, I identified strongly with Jo March, and it's much of the reason I became a writer, as well. Even had "Genius Burning" posted above my desk at one point! The edition my mother gave me as a child had been bowdlerized, however, and I didn't know Beth died until my teens, when I checked it out if the library to reread. Cried like a baby. The books still have the power to move me.
Cheers, all... To a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year for us all.

There are fireworks going off near our neighborhood and the dogs are terrified. Bessie didn't want to go out and do her business at bedtime and probably won't want to go out in the middle of the night, either.
I am nearly ready to go to bed, so I've posted the new thread for January.

January 2 is a full moon, and apparently a super moon, so it is entirely possible she's PMSing.
I used to be synced to have my periods on full moons, but the last year or so I've been so irregular, it's anyone's guess.

Next door's fireworks started up a minute before midnight. Incredible show and LOUD! Must have cost a fortune!
We enjoyed Big Ben and the London fireworks.
I told DH that my word for 2018 was STRETCH. He thought it was a bit woo-woo, but then came up with a word for himself, which was SAVOUR. I thought that was so lovely and the two words together exactly describe what we hope for for 2018. I am really looking forward to the challenges of this year.
I have 5 lbs to lose to get back to maintenance. I am looking forward to that challenge too. I have decided to do a little extra exercise in the afternoon to add to my morning set. It could be a half hour walk, or a few sets of kettlebell swings if the weather is horrible. That should give me an extra 100 calories and a boost to my metabolism which has got used to my regime, I think, as I'm still keeping to my previous CICO. The extra bit might just give it a little shock.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5
