Wanted to share this: On ‘Falling Off the Wagon’ - from Trent Hamm, a financial blogger I follow. He's mostly discussing falling off the financial wagon, but everything he says is relevant to the work we all are doing here to manage our alcohol intake.
I really liked this part:
Falling off the wagon of any self-discipline doesn’t mean that you’ve suddenly altered your ideals in any way. What it means is that, for a while, you didn’t live up to the standards of the person you want to be.
The person you want to be has their head on straight. The person you want to be makes wise financial choices and wise health choices. The person you want to be does a lot of things well.
Think about the person you want to be. Would that person do the things you’re doing? If not, then why on earth are you doing them?
Here’s the nice part: the more you try to emulate the actions of the person you want to be, the more you become the person you want to be. The emulation becomes more and more natural over time.10 -

Redemption day for me today. After a drinking and food binge yesterday I am able to end my day AF and 134 calories below my food diary allowed amount. YAY YAY YAY
Now off to bed before I screw it up some how.13 -
Hello people, I was visiting family. My Mom said I had lost a lot of weight. She thought I lost it because of the flu, but I knew it was because of being here with you guy, I did look very handsome to be fair19

Hi! Just joined the app and the community. I love this thread. My goal is to go alcohol free until the end of the month (!) and then no more than 2 beers a week in March.7

Welcome! We are all going at our own pace but actively resisting alcohol!6 -

Haha thank you.....mothers do have a way to make us feel special6 -
As i’m realizing Feb is just about done I was looking over my daily chart I keep. I was definitely not as good to myself as I was in January.
Although I had them planned that way, the two extra nights I drank in the beginning of the month really raised my total days I drank for Feb.
My busy schedule really held up my progress at the gym too. I only made it an average of twice a week compared to four times a week in January. I did keep up my yoga goal this month. But I’d like to see a month where I can achieve all my wellness goals.
I have at least a few more days to try and lose this last pound, and at least with all the setbacks I will have hit my weight loss goal.3 -
Hello family xo ... im feeling mega angry frystrated and depressed....
straight vodka looks so nice and would normally hit it hard and go to bed or go for a long drive till after midnight drive. (i can't for certain reasons)... just wasnt to do something really naughty...
I decided not to go the whole hog,.. i found my frozen b day cake and hit it hard. I thought , im not a cake person hopfully the sick feel will stop me.

Hopefully things are better! It might not seem like it, but the cake was probably a better option. Congratulations on steering clear of vodka!2 -
We are almost there with this month!!!

Nearing the end of the month and I'll make a March thread later today. Sounds like some people continued from Dry January to a Dry February. Others had a Damp February with more restrained amounts of alcohol. Whatevery your goals were bump it up a little in March.
Set a new goal healthwise. Yoga like Erik , walking, becoming a tea connoisseur, journaling, reading more, meditate each day for five or more minutes.... just continue to improve and grow as a person.
What I have realized is like minded people attract. This thread has improved many of our lives. We found a place to voice our worries, wins, fails and reflections in a safe, loving, accepting environment. Over 12,000 views on the thread and 1200 or so comments this month. We may never know who we help and influence, but all of us collectively have improved our lives in some way.
Sending each one of you a big hug! I never imagined I would be two months sober so far. This thread can be a life saver and life changer.
Before we switch over to March thread, please let us know how you did, what you learned this month, and how you feel with less alcohol in your system. It really is a poison. But a tasty poison at that.9 -

Very strong and smart decision to pass up vodka or do something naughty. Cake is GOOD and won't give you a hangover. Big hug!
Last Monday of Feb. Seems as though it flew by. Now for March. And getting past those St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Ok friends, I made a new thread called "Less Alcohol- March 2018- One Day at a Time" in the Challenge board. If someone can copy and paste the March link , I'd appreciate it.1

Thanks to this thread I've been AF 11 days this month since finding this thread 12 days ago. I've had one glass of wine which I made a decision to have meaning I considered options instead of taking it for granted I'd join in. I went to Happy Hour and had club soda, the open box of wine is going bad and I'm feeling clearer and healthier. I've become aware of how alcohol is everywhere in our culture and how we use it to fill up the empty or bored places within us. I'm more aware of the negatives - it is a poison - and of how just how false the "good time" feeling is. Thank you to all of you as I know this is helping me create a healthier life and better environment for the 3 year old who lives with me.3 -
