February 3 – 13.1 miles
February 4 – 6 miles
February 5 – 5 miles
February 7 – 5 miles
February 9 – 7 miles
February 10 – 14 miles
February 11 – 3.8 miles
February 12 – 5 miles (treadmill)
February 14 – 5 miles
February 17 – 12 miles
February 18 – 9 miles
February 19 – 4.6 miles (track)
February 21 – 4.36 miles
Not sure if I really needed to taper for this weekend, but it worked out that I only got in 4.36 miles instead of the normal 5 this morning. It was a nice 63F at 5:00 am. I put on a long sleeve shirt when I got up but when I got to our meeting point, I realized even that one layer was too much! Luckily, a friend had a shirt-sleeve tech shirt in her car that I slipped on. I’m sure any passing cars appreciated that over me running around in my sports bra!
Upcoming Races:
February 24-25 – Gasparilla Amber Challenge (15K & 5K on Saturday; Half Marathon on Sunday)
May 6 – Pittsburgh Half Marathon

Did you know that they have GLUTEN FREE Girl Scout cookies now? I know some of us in this thread are GF. I ordered some. Probably going to regret it. Waiting on delivery now.
But not the two important, bestest flavors! Although starbucks sells a different brand of gf thin mints that are just as good. I can't recall the name right now.0 -
Waiting for about 18 more degrees to show up before I head out.4

I had originally planned to do plyo tonight but I desperately need to get back on track with running. I can't not run between races lol1

Thought I'd never be saying this, but, this year's Chinese New Year really wasn't that bad! (Think Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's all wrapped up into one week. Yeah.) Usually it entails a kittenload of food and alcohol, extended family seen only once a year, and fireworks going off at all sorts of unearthly hours. This year was not only much quieter and less hectic, but I also managed to dodge almost all festivities and only got drunk once. Yay!
First run after the holiday and also first LSD in a long while. The S in LSD for me stands for snail-pace. But besides some blisters due to unfortunate wardrobe decisions, I actually felt good most of the way. Maybe I'll survive next month's HM after all.
Re: rungry, I find it easier to take apart my planned meals and eat them in five or six takes after a run, plus lots of water, can help keep me from losing control and eating too much.
Races in the foreseeable future:

I am all for the enabling of equal opportunity gluttony, lol. And I am very happy for my GF peeps who now get to have the joys of GS cookies!1 -

Don't forget that in a race, you will naturally go faster due to the adrenaline from all the excitement that race environments provide (crowd excitement, medals, other racers, wanting to do good officially, etc.). And if your like me, having people around you that are a little faster will drive you to want to go a little faster.
Also, you will have Gatorade at the water stops. The sugar in them counts as fuel, and might just be enough to carry you if you are close.
I would encourage you to test in training so you do not have surprises on race day.
With that in mind, contact the Race Director to see exactly what brand and flavor is being offered at the race. I can drink about anything and it doesn't bother me, but some folks have very particular stomachs and may have GI issues if they consume a brand or flavor of sports drink that they are not used to.4 -

Good point. I have not had a problem with sports drinks, but I know someone that does. He can only drink one color of Gatorade, but I do not recall which one that is. Which ever it is, it is NOT the normal one they use.0 -

I love me some Enjoy Life cookies though... especially the soft brownie ones!0 -
Once I found out that each Girl Scout pack only gets about 35 cents per box from the $3.50 cost, I quit buying them. Call me a curmudgeon but I have no trouble politely saying no to the little girls who ring my doorbell.
Aldi sells the exact same thin mints, samoas, and one or two other girl scout type cookie (in Aldi brand packaging) for $1.29. And they're available year round.
If they actually rang my doorbell, I would likely buy them, but these days most of their sales are done by their parents taking the order forms to work. Pfft. Forget that.
But, to your point, when the Boy Scouts sell their over priced popcorn outside of my local Kroger, I usually decline to buy any but offer to make a donation to their troop instead. They have never refused to accept it.3 -
Decided to swap around my runs this week. Yesterday was -14C with wicked windchill so I did 30 flights of stairs (aka today's scheduled cross training). I will run home from work today and add an extra loop around the lake to get in my extra 2km as running home isn't quite the distance my training plan calls for, then do the same tomorrow. Today will be around -8C with some wind but it should be a tailwind for most of my run. Tomorrow -4C! Shorts weather!5

They do! And ummm, the best gf cookie is glutino chocolate sandwhich ones (like oreos). They are better than oreos and I can't keep them in the house because I can, and have, eaten an entire package in one sitting.1 -

Cool, thanks! I will look for them when I am food shopping this weekend.
Yes, those Oreo GF cookies are good too. I have to ration cookies out and hide the packages out of sigtht. Destroys my carb/fat/protein ratios!2 -

Five miles trails in the pouring rain and ankle deep mud! We are hardcore!
It's very likely our trails will be unsafe soon, since there's a flood warning for the end of the week, so we went ahead and did trails even though it was a speed day. We just gave up on staying dry and plunged right in. Apparently we are sufficiently crazy that we had the park completely to ourselves. Usually there are dozens of people in the mornings. 50 F is a little chilly when you're sopping wet, but we got warm pretty quickly. Legs are tired from all that water running though!

I have been struggling with insomnia this week. I woke up at 4 am and could not get back to sleep, again. I decided that, instead of staring at the ceiling, I would get up and run. It was great! I went 9 miles before the morning thunderstorms hit, had the streets to myself, and I was able to fit in a hour long post-run nap before work. My husband, however, now thinks I am bat *kitten* crazy and I might have a running problem. Apparently, only crazy people go running at 4:30 am when they can't sleep. LOL
