(((Allie))) Take it slow. Ice is the worst to drive. I would rather have snow. Also you need to be extra careful with walking. Fell twice on the driveway now. Nothing broken. Just shook up and a bruise that is just about gone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA! What a cutie!
Lanette ~ Sorry about your foot and hope the stretches help.
Lisa ~ Good planning on you and your daughter's part. Gives her time to get her ducks in a row. Hoping John continues to recover from his funk.
Katla ~ Glad you arrived home safely.
NY Karen ~ So sorry you are having to miss so many days as I know they will have to be made up later when you want to be out for summer.
If you are a praying person, please send up a prayer for my son and his wife. He is struggling for a moment with his sobriety and they are having marriage issues.

Still sick. DH has been an angel. So ready to be able to breathe and swallow without difficulty. Exercise on hold
Pip - the “old pic” looks professionally taken, it is a wonderful portrait!
My encouraging thoughts and warm wishes go out to all your family members in need, ladies.
Lanette are there any exercises like leg lifts, push ups in knees or things that don’t have you in your feet that you could substitute in for the interim? So sorry to hear about that.
Allie Good luck and stick to your guns.
Michelle How amazing! I caught only a minute of the launch on TV. Enjoy Florida and here’s hoping the fridge is set to rights quickly!
Terry Your long post included very little about how you are doing. Hope it is well and the storm is minimal.
Ok, sicky brain fog settling in again.

EDIT: Almost forgot my question. Does anybody have any experience with weighted blankets?3 -

alsado9988 wrote: »I just ran across this discussion site and am not sure if this is where I can ask this question. I'm trying to figure out if I can use Myfitnesspal foodlog for homecooking. I prep a lot of stuff that I use in my recipes, but I haven't been able to call those up to insert into new recipes. I.E. I'm making a garlic paste with a hot pepper every month (2 small jars last fine in the fridge) and I use those to add to everything else I'm cooking. Or my honey'd ginger--the drained off liquid goes into my salad dressings or tea. This is the third program I'm trying. Fitbit was just getting me ticked off. What experiences do you guys have with the foodlog? are you using it?
Welcome Sabine! Almost everything I eat is made from scratch. It takes time to figure things out with MFP's recipe builder, but once you have your personal recipes analyzed, it becomes very simple. Something like the liquid from your honey'd ginger might need to be an approximation but that approximation will be your standard. Of course, you'll need to weigh and then measure to determine the unit of liquid you use in your dressings. Does that sound daunting? It really isn't.

KarenVA ... Olivia is a cutie-pie!! Knowing how she had a rocky start and seeing her smiling face today is a testament to the fact that our present troubles are not necessarily our future ones.
KarenNY ... I took today off ... I just don't feel like dealing with the weather today! Fortunately, my job is not dependent on me being there and I won't have to make up the work in the summer! Trying to get through some paper piles, but you'll note where I am at the moment?
I was not able to stay within calorie goals yesterday. I was doing well with breakfast and lunch and then had a frozen dinner from my son's freezer ... some "SmartMade" thing. I thought it was horrible, but then why I thought I would like anything processed is beyond me. Anyways, I was way below calories at that point and thought I could handle one cookie. Umm, no. They're like potato chips to me. So I'm at it again today.

Hi Ladies,
Starting day 3 with a snow storm so DD is off school. I've been planning my menus as I go along, but I think I need to sit down and plan for the week. That way, I'll have everything I need on hand to make healthy choices. Workouts are going well and I'm drinking plenty of water. Now, if I can get my housework done without DD wanting to do some kind of project or other in my kitchen I should be ok. DH is a great support and I'm glad of that. I was on an elimination diet per Doctor's orders for the last 4 weeks. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. DH was a trooper through it all. Meltdowns, rages, very little sleep, fatigue... well you get the picture. I'm off it and on my own plan which is to cut way back on gluten, cut some sugar and carbs. I'll keep y'all informed on how it works for me. My bff cut and colored my hair yesterday. I love it. DH said it makes me look 10 years younger. Have a great day.

Hello my friends,
I'm joining those of you with children with a "habit".
Just had a phone call from my son in Hove to say that there have been incidents with his drinking and he is currently suspended from work with a disciplinary on Friday. To say his wife is displeased is an understatement. So he hasn't had a drink for 2 weeks and has cleared the house of all alcohol. (His job involves beer, wine and entertaining ) He will be getting help. I hope he gets his job back (he thinks he will) but he wants to spend the weekend smoothing things over at home. So we are not going down there this Saturday.
I'm sure a few of you know what this is like. He has had jobs around wine and beer all his working life and loves to drink and be merry. He is a great host. Obviously I hope he can get his act together and not lose everything including his marriage. It has always been at the back of my mind that he was vulnerable that way.
Sooooooooooooo, there it is and all I can do is love him.
Thanks for listening, Heather UK xxxxxxx15 -
Heather ~ Hugs for your son and my son!3

Made homemade pinto bean soup yesterday. Started making it at lunchtime, so I took it off the burner after a bit, so it wouldn't turn into a Spackle like consistently.... Husband said it was still a bit thick...but he said it was good! We ladies are so happy when family etc compliments us eh? I know it makes me feel good when I give people happy belly's! My Momma, bless her heart, used to ask how things tasted before we had a chance to take a first bite! Then she'd apologize about how she made it...."oh sorry its a bit too salty, or this or that.....". My sisters and I joke about her actions now.... In a loving way. She'd take one little bite of something then declare, "oh I'm so full". As kids we didn't understand what the heck she was doing!

Carol, Sending good thoughts for your son and DIL.
Pip, Love the picture! Nice family get together. How did you get all the dogs to looks in the same directions at the same time? Lol
Rye, sorry you are still sick. Glad hubby is stepping up to take care of you. Get well soon. Not a lot going on with me right now. DH is well again, DD is acing her classes but swamped with homework and applying for jobs (although not sure how she is going to go to carry such a heavy school load and a full-time job). Just starting to snow here. Heard that they don’t plan to close work until about 2. I may leave earlier if it starts getting bad. Don’t want to be stuck having to walk up the driveway. 3rd day eating well and now at 201.6. I might just make onederland by Monday after all. Feels good to be back on track. Haven’t work on my business at all this week.
Beth, good for you taking the day off. I almost took the day off because of weather too but decided to go in as I am taking Monday off. Look at what you did do right (breakfast and lunch) and let the rest go. Today is another opportunity to start again.
Becky, hang in there. You CAN do it!
Heather, sounds like your son has had a wakeup call and is taking steps to make things right with his wife and his life. (((Hugs)))

Today is Periodic Table Day!
While you're celebrating the elements, you can find out everything you ever wanted to know about the periodic table at this link: http://www.periodictableday.org/
Drkatiebug - Ugh, so sorry to hear of the carcinoma. Dad had a lot of those over the years and they were pretty routine, but still no fun. Wishing peace to you and your mama.
SueBDew - I hope your self-care will ward off whatever you're trying to catch! And thanks for the reminder... I'm making my mammo appointment as soon as I'm done catching up here.
Sue in WA - You might see if the old cat will eat baby food. Not on the kidney diet, but if it's just for a meal or two it probably wouldn't hurt. Do you have to do subcutaneous fluids for him? (I did that with my old cat Rasputin for a couple of years.)
Rye - Wishing you relief from that sore throat soon! I've been binge-watching to catch up with season 2 of This Is Us, but I may have to put The Good Place on my list.
Barbie - Great news that they can fix Jake's back! Wishing him a smooth surgery and recovery.
Bubba - I often create recipes to log things I use frequently. In the case of a sauce, condiment, etc., you could put in the recipe for that item, then log it as needed when you used it in a meal.
Becca - My mother-in-law is also a Becca. Your husband sounds like he's as much fun as you are!
Whew, I was behind... may have to go back to checking in twice a day for awhile! Please know that I'm thinking of you all and wishing you well, even when I don't respond specifically to your posts.
Like some of you, I sat glued to the computer to watch the Falcon Heavy launch yesterday. It was so thrilling... and I was glad to see so many people excited about space exploration again.
Today I've got to go to the credit union for something called a "medallion signature guarantee." I'd never run into that before, but Dad's financial people are wanting it. I went there yesterday - in the rain - only to find out the one person who could do it wasn't there. Then I have to drive two towns over to the nearest office of the other credit union to deposit Dad's insurance check because it's $60 over the daily deposit limit for mobile deposits. Guess I may as well block off a whole bunch of time and see what else I need to do while I'm out driving around.
Perhaps I'll take the dog and stop for a walk in a new place when the errands are done. I'm soooooo close to Onederland... maybe I can get there by next week's weigh-in.

Many sympathies, Heather and Carol, regarding your sons' sobriety issues. I know alcohol is a major contributing factor to my son's depression, as well. And for him, his birth mother's a drug addict, and of his father's brothers, one died at 16 in an alcohol-related accident, and three of the other four are alcoholics, or very near it. His father, my husband, has his own struggles with alcohol.
I am finally out of spreadsheet hell... and now back to event planning.
Love y'all,
Lisa in NC7 -
For all the bike enthusiasts out there! Thought this would be a beautiful thing to lean against a front walkway area. Enjoy the day y'all!

I saw this during a walk in the desert. It is a desert millipede. It was about 3 inches long. They can grow to 6 inches. They do not bite but emit a noxious smell and liquid that can irritate your skin if you are brave enough to touch it!
Awe. Won’t let me upload it. I’ll try again in a bit.

well I am home... not going to bother going to work.. the 2 other attorney' s that volunteered there time for the pre trial said they suggest 60/40 split in Toms favor and he wants to retire within a month-6 months so his attorney says.. so we still need to go next tuesday for upping alimony, and then the trial is set for April 12th I think.. I am not backing down ,but running out of money for attorney fees we shall see.. let me just day this his attorney is probably my age, flaky as all get out and has pink hair9

Allie ... I seriously don't know how Tom's lawyer has not been disbarred by now ...
Carol ... prayers for you and your son ...
Heather ... prayers your son is able to right himself as well ...
Becky ... I and my son were on an elimination diet a few years back for migraine triggers ... he had the problem, but I joined him in the diet ... one of the hardest things we ever did! Kudos to you! While we didn't find a food trigger, we did discover that we liked "cleaner" food than we had previously been eating.
I just cooked what must have been the toughest piece of chicken breast ever ... it had a lot of white "stratification" on it ... wondering if that's why it had the texture of rubber?? I think I'm tired of cooking ... LOL!
So I have a stye on my one eyelid. It wasn't healing itself, so I called my doctor. He prescribed compresses and an antibiotic ointment. The pharmacy couldn't fill the script as written, so they asked the doctor to prescribe something else. He did, an OTC ointment, bacitracin. But on the pharmacist writes all over the receipt ... not for the eye. I get it. It's for the eyelid. But seriously, you think they could've substituted with something that could go in or on.

Thanks for your good wishes for my son. Of course, I am worrying.

Felicia: HELLP sounds very painful and worrisome. Sending more good thoughts to all of you for a positive outcome.
alsado9988: There is a recipe builder available on the site and I've put some of my own favorites on the recipe builder. It gave me calorie and nutrition information. This was time consuming for me, but worth the trouble for some of my favorite recipes.
Barbie: We avoid the interstate in both Portland & Seattle when possible. Too much traffic is crammed into not enough lanes. Yuck. :ohwell: Since our son is currently stationed on the east coast, we don't have much reason to go to the Seattle area. :noway:
Allie: I agree with Terry in VT. If I've said it before, it is worth repeating. You can bet Tom won't be looking out for you or even slightly concerned with fairness. Here is Tom's picture-- Keep it in mind.
Lanette: I am so sorry to hear about your foot troubles. I can't figure out whether the doctor has left you any options for exercise amidst all of the "thou shalt not" do this & thats. On the subject of flu-- I'm skipping a ride today due to tummy troubles. I can't get far away from the bathroom. I wonder whether it is travel related. WE were on jets with many strangers & I did need to use the restrooms in flight.
Lisa: I have visited Arkansas only one time and was impressed with the people I met there. I hope you eventually find a place & community that feels like home. :flowerforyou:
I started my day with a computer that wouldn't open and scheduled a call with an Apple Genius, but DS filled me in on what to do and when I restarted my computer it opened just fine. My son seems to be very own "Apple Genius."
I also started my day with tummy troubles and am staying close to the loo. Our trip was long and I wonder whether it had anything to do with my tummy troubles. I hope it wasn't last night's dinner because it was yummy and I want more for lunch.
Having a dog-sitter was not much more expensive than boarding at the vet, and we came home to a relaxed, healthy & happy dog and a tidy home. She was worth every penny!

Heather posted a quote similar to this that I wanted to use, but I couldn't recall it quite right. I went online and found this one.
"So many of us believe in perfection, which ruins everything else, because the perfect is not only the enemy of the good; it's also the enemy of the realistic, the possible and the fun."

I'm so excited. I burned 365 calories during my workout today. YAY ME! Keeping to 1200 calories is not a problem, either. At least, not this time around.4

When I got up this morning, dianne was already awake, so I went to the Y and just did some HIIT. I forgot how much I sweat down here. I know it has to do with the humidity. the plan for tomorrow is to try their Power hour class. I remeber last year there was this awesome class that had stations. It was at 8:30 as I recall. This class is at 8:30. Is it the same? I don't know.
alsa - I knew someone would answer your question! Welcome!
Lanette - I wish we could stay in FL for the rest of the winter, but Vince needs to be back by Feb. 27 at the latest as he has an appt to get his permanent crown put on. Oh boy -- no walking. How horrible! Good news about the Xray
Sue in TX - you can't begin to imagine how awesome that launch was. One thing that just seemed interesting to me was how long it took from when the boosters landed until we heard the sonic boom. It WAS cool sitting in the condo then going out to see it 10 minutes before the launch. A lot of people were waiting for hours, they'd gotten there real early in the day just to get a good spot.
Barbara - congrats on the fantastic weight loss.
NYKaren - happy birthday to Olivia. How wonderful! She's come a long way, baby
Went to breakfast with Dianne and Paige. Normally, I wouldn't go out for breakfast. But since we don't have a refirgerator (we bought one today -- would have been too expensive to replace the freeon and then they'd by law have to find the leak and fix it.) Had 4 egg whites, two strips of bacon and Denny's seasonal fruit. Then Dianne and Paige left to go see other friends. Vince and I got a new pill shooter for Loki, got a newspaper, bought the refrigerator, went to Lowes but they didn't have a ballast for us so went to Home Depot then back to Lowes for the lights. Since they are so close together, it was worth it. Lights at HD would have been way more expensive than at Lowes. On the way home stopped at the bank. Now Vince is putting up the balasts. I need to go to HD to get him a certain drill so he can drill thru the concrete above the light.
Allie - a 60/40 split!!! Outrageous
Beth - I cooked a chicken breast in the crock pot and it was so dry that, honestly, I threw it out
