Hi all ... I have been so busy and we were away for the long weekend ... first weekend away with my husband in a long time, and we only had occasional, weak internet access where we were staying.Feb 2016: 470.53 km (292.4 miles) = 40 hours 39 min
Feb 2017: 600.5 km (373.1 miles) = 57 hours 30 min
So for February, I'll go for something in that range ... somewhere between 2016 and 2017. Or maybe more, we'll see how February plays out. Really busy with work and university the first 8 days of Feb, so it's not likely that I'll rack up the big numbers then ... but I've got a bit of a break after that ...
Feb 1 - 7.9 km walking (98 min) + 4 flights of 20 stairs (3 min)
Feb 2 - 3.2 km walking (40 min) + 4 flights of 20 stairs (3 min)

Feb 4 - 29.25 km cycling (90 min)
Feb 5 - 7.3 km walking (90 min) + 5 flights of 20 stairs (4 min)
Feb 6 - 7 km walking (85 min) + 4 flights of 20 stairs (3 min)
Feb 7 - 2.2 km walking (25 min) + 8 flights of 20 stairs (6 min)
Feb 8 - 4.6 km walking (55 min)
Feb 9 - 2 km walking (25 min) + 4 flights of 20 stairs (3 min)
Feb 10 - 4 km walking (50 min)
Feb 11 - 101.57 km cycling (350 min) + 0.8 km walking (10 min)

And also, my husband and I got our medals for the 2017 Audax (timed long distance cycling) season today.
The Cadbury 10K medal is mine from my run on January 14th, but the other three we did together and each received an award.
In the upper right corner is the Nouveau Randonneur (50 km, 100 km and 150 km).
In the lower left corner is the Petit Year Round Randonneur (a minimum of one 100 km ride in each month of the year).
In the lower right corner is the Annual Award indicating 1000 km of Audax events in 2017. And actually, we did 2350 km of Audax events, but the next award is the 2500 km, so we just missed that one.

Hi Ladies,
Cold but sunny here today. Still minimal swelling in my knee, so I think that a walk is in order instead of my circuit training. Joyce, one surefire way to know if your cat has any Maine Coon in him is if he has a capital letter "M" on his forehead. Also, Maine Coons are usually double pawed on both front paws, but not always. They can range anywhere from 15-30 pounds depending on the cat.
Becca- glad hubby is getting the care he needs. Still praying.
Terry- happy birthday. Glad you got to be with your daughter.
Michele- When it's humid, you need more water because you can become dehydrated without realizing it. Tea is good as long as there's no caffeine or sugar in it. Try adding a slice of lemon or lime in your water. Gotta run. BBL.

I was able to watch all the team figure skating in the Olympics thanks to our DVR. I love being able to watch TV on my schedule and in small chunks rather than the way the stuff is broadcast. If I had to watch in in real time, I'd miss all of it.1

It's Pancake Day in the UK, so I made some for lunch. I had three small ones. Just with lemon and a tiny sprinkling of sugar. Delicious! I calculated only 250 calories, so I hope I'm right. DH had 5 big ones. He was ecstatic and said I can make them any time! My bright idea was to have them as lunch, instead of as an extra for tea or dessert.
Going out for my run soon. It's been pouring with rain all morning, but it's just stopped.
Did some typing/editing this morning. Normally it's a yoga day, but it's half term holiday here.
Happy birthday Terri. Love the hair hat!
Janetr - I love your outfit. You look great!
I'm not interfering in my son's decisions as I'm sure he thinks about nothing else. His wife is a strong woman and will have constructive advice, I'm sure. Would love to see them all soon, but not pressurising them. We are booked in for March for Bea's 2nd birthday.
My DDIL has just published her 7th book in a series, "This Book Will Make You Sleep". I will buy it to show my support. My favourite in the series was "This ...... Calm" . She is using CBT techniques to help people. She is a clinical psychologist. And she won't stand for any nonsense from my son. I am just hoping for the best, but I anticipate some hiccups.

Good morning! My name is Ann and I will be 50 this July so thought I would embrace it and join you all here! I've been here at MFP since around 2011 and I lost about 60 pounds total reaching my goal in 2014. Unfortunately due in part to some health issues and in part to just not eating well / exercising as much, I've gained a little back so now that I'm healthy again, I am renewing my efforts to get back on track before it spirals out of control. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.9

Today is my youngest daughter's 42nd birthday. She was born on Friday the 13th and was my parent's 13th grandchild. She always says 13 is her lucky number. So now my girls are 42 and 43. No wonder I feel old and achy. Lol
Off to the dentist to get permanent crown on the tooth that broke a couple of weeks ago. I hate the dentist, ugh.
Thanks ladies for your kind words on my picture and boots .

Popping in to say Good morning! I'll have to read posts during morning commute.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.
Looks like a chilly but beautiful day here in PA. I hope to get my dog out for a walk this morning.

hello ladies! I would love to join :-). my name is jeri lynn (you can call me jl), I am 54 yo and about 30 lb overweight. Ack! I am the proud momma of 10 year old twin boys and I live in so cali.
I have worked out regularly my entire adult life, usually 4 to 5 hours/wk. however, I recently went back to work full-time for the first time in a decade, so finding the time and fighting the exhaustion have become an issue for the first time ever.
my biggest struggle has always been food though. I had an crazy metabolism till I was 30 & never had a problem. but now I seem to eat in response to every emotion and thought. the struggle is real, lol! good nutrition has actually always been important to me so none of this is from eating junk. But it's definitely from eating too much!
I've been reading and listening to Geneen Roth lately and I find that helpful. Also I am starting a weight loss / workout class at the YMCA next month and I really look forward to the group dynamic. that is why I was happy to find all of you as well!
I just wanted to say hello. Thank you in advance for the motivation and inspiration! We can do this! We are women, hear us roar!

I am up, even with meletonin, didn't sleep well..Another day in court today, with me losing money every time I go, and having to use my vacation time, will get over to the court by 8:30 so that I can sign in as soon as we get to the 4th floor.let me tell you if his attorney doesn't show this time.I will ask that the attorney be held in contempt of court..
And then there is my dads estate, trying to not get ahead of myself ,but worry how im going to take care of it all..I will put it in Gods hands..
Allie ... my situations are much different, of course ... but this morning, while sitting on the edge of my bed, I was overwhelmed with how I was going to take care of it all. And then I watched this little clip on Facebook where a modern day shepherd was explaining how he would have to take one of his sheep's newborn lambs and take care of it (there were twins) because momma had rejected it. Used this analogy about how another shepherd would take care of us. I cried. And then I put it all in God's hands too. Hugs to you.9 -
Know your all in my pocket..my stomach is churning ,and my attorney is here with her hands full she has 4 cases today..and who knows if his attorney will be here... ughhhh.8

Carol - How is your son doing at the moment? Do you think they have any idea how much we care?
I did my run! :drinker: It was still drizzling a tiny bit, but held off. Luckily the puddles were all on the other side of the road when the cars drove past me. Most cars go slowly through the lanes, but you do get the occasional idiot.
DH is due to go walking with his cricket friend on Thursday, but they are having trouble finding a route that isn't waterlogged. They may settle for just meeting up for a pub lunch without the walk. No fun getting bogged down.
Hungry now. My afternoon snack is half an avocado and a slice of smoked salmon. Double yum!

Heather: My son has kept his sobriety for almost 6 months. He struggles with anxiety and depression. A lot is due to the fact that he was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and a couple of learning disorders at an early age which made school so difficult. He has become a fine man who loves his family and is terrified of losing them. I hope your son will be able to keep his sobriety. Mine also works in the restaurant industry and has since he was a teenager.4

CarolBroomfield: Welcome to a great group of supportive women! We have a number of members who are from the UK. :flowerforyou:
Mary: Bugs!!! Yuck!!!! :grumble:
Barbara: I agree with you about the danger of Ouija Boards. They can turn into a compulsion for some people. :noway: Regarding weight loss, I love the MFP system. It starts you out with a higher calorie allowance and reduces it gradually as the pounds slip away. Once you've reached your goal, it increases your calorie allowance to a maintenance level. It has been brilliant for me. I'll admit it isn't speedy, but speedy weight change is not good for a person's health. :flowerforyou:
Lisa in NC: I am a big fan of Rori, too. She once helped me navigate through the Denver Airport and get to my flight. I am forever grateful. She is a wonderful friend.
Okie in TX Hill Country: Congratulations on your vacation loss!!! :flowerforyou:
Allie: I hope everyone shows for the court appointment today. :grumble:
Rye: I feed hummingbirds year round. I bring the feeders in regularly to wash them and refill them. Many hummingbirds are migratory and visit a particular location at certain times of the year. Our Annas Hummingbirds are not migratory. They live here year round. We also get Rufous Hummingbirds in the summer. They are migratory.
Machka: Congratulations for your cycling medals. WTG!!!
Ann & Jeri Lynn: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
(((Heather))) I'm sending good thoughts for your son to succeed at staying sober and keeping his family strong. :flowerforyou:
Janetr OKC: I hope your visit to the dentist is positive and solves your problem. We have a great dentist and your post makes me wonder whether we should be scheduling appointments to see him. :ohwell:
I got a reminder from my doctor that I need some vaccinations and also to get my annual colon screening done. I'll get right on it. :ohwell:
We have been having the devil's own time getting Amazon deliveries. I went online and think I know why. Google redid its maps and screwed up royally in our neighborhood. If Amazon drivers are trying to use google maps to find us, it is no wonder they're totally messing up!

How fun and wonderful! I have to say, as a swimmer I’m jealous. My mile swim event I did last fall? I got a T-shirt for raising over a certain amount of money but I didn’t even get a piece of fruit or bottle of water afterwards because they decided to pack up everything before I finished ( last, but 10 minutes BEFORE the one hour time was up.). I finished to a completely empty building ( the lifeguard took off before I had exited the pool!) with my husband and the cleaning lady being the only people left. I was appalled, humiliated, angry, hungry and thirsty. We stopped into a 7-11 to buy me fruit and a bottle of water afterwards.
The organization ( swim across America - cancer research charity) is the only group swim activity like that I can find but I’m never swimming for them again. I guess that makes me petty, but I’ll donate to some other group instead.
Your adventures ( and pip’s and Wendy’s hike group) make me long for similar camaraderie and fun rewards like the patches and medals, but not enough to run or cycle (that would be s safety hazard anyway) - lol7 -
Hi ladies,
Felicia, your fingers look painful. Has your dr seen them? ((Hugs))
Michele, my goodness, where do you keep all those DVD’s. You must have some library. Lol
Wendy, well at least some good came out of you guests. I think it is more than time that you kick those guest to the curb. Talk about taking advantage!
Becca, so happy to hear your DH’s surgery went well and you made it safely home. It was nice of your Ds to come and have coffee and a chat. Nice to catch up.
Marcelyn, that bug is the cutest. How did you get it there?
Mary, sounds like your teaching experience was awful. My DH taught for 10 years. It wasn’t the teaching that got to him, it was the administration. Mary, maybe one of Marcelyn’s bugs got loose. I’ve had that happen and I can’t get back to sleep either.
Janet, you look fantastic. I know how hard it is to see your ex. Fortunately, I don’t do it very often. Not even once a year. But it is stressful and brings up a lot of feelings and yes your self esteem. ((Hugs)) Happy birthday to your girls.
Joyce, good for you being under 200! All your hard work has paid off.
Carolbroomfi, welcome to the group. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you would like to be called? I think you will find this to be a very supportive group.
Viv, drop in anytime and yes we are a very chatty group.
Sharon, wow what a busy day you had. Maybe you can e-mail/text Kim. Sometimes when people don’t hear you they get it when it is in writing. Good for you looking after you.
Barbara, granny hairs? Do you know the ones that grow on your chin? I have one I’ve been plucking for years. Also one on my *kitten* which DH plucks for me (TMI? Lol). One day when it is plucked the root will come out to and then no more hair. Maybe I can transplant them to my head. Lol
Lisa, I think you approach to your DD is the right one and hope you get the result you want. Maybe backup the what you didn’t like with what you are willing to do. Write it down so you hand it to her so there is no confusion. I like the babysitter idea.
Okie, doing the Snoopy happy dance for you!
Allie, I know things are so overwhelming for you right now. Everything will work out and I believe you can do anything you set your mind to. Reach out when you need to for help or support.
Rye, yes I do feel like I’m in a science fiction movie. The lights blink off and on. Luckily I only have to wear it every other day for 25min each time. Guess it takes a while to see any difference if it works. Hope you feel better soon. This bug you have is a tough one to get through. My DH is still not 100%.
Machka, WOO HOO on the medals! Well done girl!
Heather, I think you are wise to stay out of your son’s problems. I know how hard that is.
Ann & JL, hi and welcome to the group. We are a chatty bunch but we also have big hearts, lots of info and tons of support.
Carol, that’s wonderful that your son have kept his sobriety for 6 months. An inspiration to those fighting with theirs.
Thank you for all your “Happy Birthdays”. Well back to work.

Still busy-busy-busy.
Just popping in to say we performed Mozart's Requiem Saturday evening.
The dress rehearsal Friday provided a little tickle of smug enjoyment. There we were, rehearsing, when who should sneak in through the door but Martha Stewart and a couple dozen others in her entourage. She's had some kind of competition in which a ten dollar donation to the Crop Trust earns you a lottery ticket for a trip with Martha to my home town, where the planned activities included a visit to the Global Seed Vault, snowmobiling, visiting and ice cave, dogsledding, and a gourmet dinner.
Well the gourmet dinner was downstairs from the concert hall where we were rehearsing. When we arrived for the dress rehearsal, the Stewart gang had just started sipping their before-dinner champagne in the lobby. We pushed our way through (politely, of course) and got to work. But the singing carried and soon we saw people peeking through the doorway. Then they ventured in. Then they poured in. And listened. And took photos and videos with their cell phones. And applauded whenever we got to the end of a section. :grumble:
Martha herself stood there looking totally gobsmacked, her mouth hanging open, shaking her head in disbelief, as though an orangutan had abruptly started reciting a sonnet by John Donne. Apparently she hadn't expected to find any culture this far away from civilization. I've filed the episode in the mental drawer I keep for truly bizarre experiences.
Saturday's performance, went well. Here's the article about it in Svalbardposten, with a big picture. I'm in the front row, second from the left, with the black pearl necklace. http://svalbardposten.no/nyheter/requiem-for-full-hals/19.9399

Got to the Y a bit late and then talked to the instructor so didn't walk on the treadmill too much before the class. Then took the Power Hour class. This one is pretty good. Walked on the treadmill after the class. I'm thinking of doing the 20-40-60 workout tomorrow.
Joyce - $50 a person? What makes that lunch so special?
Allie - Tom "can't afford it"?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I would think your attorney would do something about all these delays. That's her time that's being used up. Of course, she's still getting paid. But she could be getting a new client and getting paid from them.
Machka - congrats on those medals. You guys deserve them
Ann - welcome back!
jl - welcome. I almost wrote "KJ"...lol
After exrcise I was going to check out the Salvation Army down here. I couldn't understand why I couldn't find it. Good reason...they closed so the sign is gone. Now home. I went to Aldi yesterday. Do you think Vince would have told me that we were low on his cereal? when does he tell me. Today. Well, I want to stop at the ceramic place anyway. She said she has a shell so maybe Vince will go with me. He's much better at judging size of something than I am.
Rye - I certainly would be hurt, angry, humiliated, thirsty if I'd been swimming. I'm apalled that they left before you finished.
Michele now in FL
who realized she never read the paper yesterday3 -
Rye - I brought in the hummingbird feeder last night so it wouldn't freeze and break the glass. Plus, the birdies like it kind of warm when they take their first sip. 21 degrees here this morning! We have the same hummers that Katla gets. Fun to see them in the winter - they do eat insects such as gnats and when the day gets warm there are plenty of them flying around. What a shame about that charity swim. Seems like a lot of liability there for the organizers to pack up and leave like that. Don't blame you for crossing them off your list!
Machka - you were busy! No wonder we didn't hear from you! Wow, it really hits home how active you are when you see those medals. Thank you for sharing.
Beth and Allie - loved the story about the shepherd taking care of the extra lamb. ((HUGS)))
Mary - no wonder they need teachers in AZ if they make it so hard on them. Don't blame you for wanting to get out of that situation! Glad your DH has a better school environment. Shep is probably glad to have Mom home with him more.
Janetr - perfectly gorgeous photo of you. Love those boots - very classy!
Joyce - I don't think we've seen a recent photos of Mozart and Melody. So glad he worked out well in your household. We are SO GLAD to have you back! Loved the photo of the girls by the way!!!
It's sunny and the outside thermometer now says 32.3f. Time to get crackin! Have a wonderful day all!

Hi everyone
It will probably take me a while till I can get with all the different things happening here. But until then; hugs and encouragement to all!
I live in Saskatchewan, Canada.
(retired from healthcare)
I have 4 grown children that have given me 12 amazing grandchildren to spoil. So far they all deserve my spoiling. (ages 20 to 4)
I have a husband that keeps my life interesting. He has autism spectrum disorder, and in January, we discovered he also has advanced arterial disease (PAD)
He is recovering now from a scary aneurysm surgery that gave him a state of the art arterial graft.
I had both knees replaced in 2016, as well as a tumor, half a lung, and a gallbladder removed. 2017 was a recovery year. 2018 is my get back to life year.
I look forward to sharing successes and oftentimes failures, as well as insight and compassion with you all.

Well, persistence and planning paid off! Down 2 pounds this week! I have plenty of roasted vegetables left over, and fruit and yogurt for my afternoon snack.
Rye – I don’t blame you for being upset at being deserted at your swim event. That was not only disrespectful, it was downright dangerous. My first biathalon (5k running and 20k biking, not skiing and shooting, LOL – I think nowadays they call them duathons) was while I was still recuperating from ACL surgery, so I knew my time was not going to be great. Then another woman on the course had a flat tire, so I stopped to help her (while other riders went zipping by) and wait with her for the race staff to show up. I thought that the race staff would change her tire and then she & I could finish the event together, but instead they decided to just throw her bike in the car, she jumped in, and off they went, leaving me by myself and fully 15 minutes behind the last rider. By this time, my knee was killing me, I was tired and discouraged, and I wasn’t even sure how far away the finish line was (or more importantly, how many hills lay between me and it). I plugged away, expecting everyone to be dispersed by the time I got there. Instead, to my amazement, EVERYBODY was waiting at the finish line and cheered me across. It was both exhilarating and embarrassing. Then after the winners got their medals, they called me up on stage and gave me a little memento for stopping to help the woman. Extremely embarrassing, but a very uplifting experience. That’s how things SHOULD be done.
Penny – my art teacher is in your neck of the woods today (well, within a few thousand kilometres) – she took a trip to Iceland. Her husband passed away last year after a decade-long illness, and at age 78, she has decided to travel and have some adventures. She has the energy and outlook of a 20-something. Love your story about Martha Stewart! Is your choir on YouTube or any audio files available? Would love to hear your group!
Off to walk the dog and get some household projects done.
