Karen, you are a good friend to have. I feel like you are "on my side" although there shouldn't have to be sides in a marriage. We should be working together, heading in the same direction with a common goal. In many ways we are and our common goal is to pay off our small farm, be freehold and buy a large farm one day. I understand that the bee business is the most likely way for us to achieve this goal. I have had to make sacrifices and compromises and the railroad storage units are part of that. I agreed to it as a "short term" temporary plan until we could afford to buy more land and move our bee business elsewhere/ or move ourselves elsewhere. But he has been officially kicked out of the remainder of my arena! No more creeping into my riding areas. I slept upstairs last night and we are not speaking this morning. He has already left to work in the hives. Did I mention he is a workaholic? I am alone much of the time, so I fill that void with my pets and I keep myself busy by running, hiking, riding, and of course, working.
Lanette, thanks for cheering me up with your fabulous sense of humour. I am the same as you and don't really think trading in my "old devil" will be of much use since I would just get a whole new set of problems and I am used to dealing with the old problems. Wendy5 -

Pip lol I love it, I may have to print it out too. You are "such a kick in the pants"

Pip - why don't you post a photo of your boot and I'll tape a copy of that to my snack pantry. PLEASE???

Lanette, the wind is here in Victoria!! lol Blowing like crazy here today, with the added joy of driving rain at times! There is also some rain at times, just fun times all around! There is also talk of the "s word" happening tonite. Really hope that doesn't happen, we are just so not set up for that kind of weather.
Wendy, glad you got your arena back, for the most part anyway! It does seem that men just don't get it sometimes!
Good for you for standing up for your rights, but I do hope you and hubby can get back on an even keel soon.
Janet OKC, I too love the excuses poster! I think I need to print it out and paste it up in many places around my house!
Becca, that listing is quite nice! sure hope you can find something that will work for you when you are ready to move.
NY Karen, so envious of your trip to Rome! Have a blast!
That's it for me for now.
Evelyn, Vancouver Island, hoping I don't get blown away!3 -
Hello ladies, I haven't tried out the microphone on the key board. MAainy because it is weird talking to to you all with my husband sitting beside me. I have also found a remedy to drinking my ice tea or soft drinks and them hurting my cheeks. When I am eating out, I ask for no ice. Now this works fine for tea but not for soft drinks. So I guess no I need to stick to tea. I love my diet 7 up and diet A&W root beer and so I just leave it out on the shelf and don't refrigerate them.
I sure hope Allie does not leave. But I fear she may. I think it all started when she saw him in court. I remember that she said he looked so tired. The compassionate woman in her kicked in then. Then the lawyer asked them to see what they could do and there was a downward spiral. That's how it appeared to us. But to Allie it was t a downward spiral. The wife/woman in her still cares for how he is even though she is trying to divorce him. Maybe she wants both, his well being and a divorce.
Blood pressure is better but the fingers still hurt like the dickens. Only change is the Lyrica sure helps for the good nights sleep. Well that and wearing my heavy glove on.
5 years ago today I brought this beautiful girl home to give our lives some joy. She immiately fit in and we have loved her ever since.
We love you Melody.
Well that wasn't what I wanted. The picture is my favorite pic of her and it is my screen shot on my iPad but I didn't mean to have all the other stuff in the picture posts here.

Yep, Evelyn! You don't know how many cool places have come and gone since my son and I decided to be roommates! Our requests are simple: $1775-1800 a month, 2000+ sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2 bath, wood floors, large garage, basement with family room, and fireplace or wood stove. Simple huh!

KarenUK: I hope you enjoy your evening out.
Janetr: I love this: "When I lost my excuses I found my results." Spot on! Thanks for sharing.
Wendy: Thanks for mentioning Bio-Young. I'll look for it. :flowerforyou:
Allie: I'm officially jumping on the bandwagon with Mary, Lenora & Margaret. Put yourself first and see to it that your needs are protected. (((HUGS)))
Becca: What a cute home in Coupeville. It is a lovely area. I enjoyed our visits to Whidbey Island. Sadly, we haven't been there in a few years. :ohwell: Avoid the side of the island that faces west toward the Straits of Juan de Fuca. It has had some nasty episodes of landslides & cliff-side homes falling into the ocean a few years ago. Not a good thing. :noway: Also check out microclimates. I think that there are dryer parts of the island and wetter parts. Pick a place that fits your preferences.
Pip: I agree with Lanette. I'd love to have a photo of your boot--or maybe a model number. Does it come in narrow sizes?

I was musing over what that arena represents to me, because it surely is a symbol to me. For one, having an arena was something "rich" people have. I grew up poor and didn't have as much as the other kids had, but I always had a horse, so I FELT rich in the way it really mattered. I never thought I would have an arena but then I decided that if I started taking steps towards creating one, maybe God would answer my prayer. So I started at the top of my hill and began digging. Filling up the wheelbarrow and dumping the dirt at the bottom of the hill. People used to mock me. They called it my "potato patch." I am an introvert and shy, so people tend to underestimate me. They don't know that my favourite quote is by Winston Churchill: Never, never, never give up! My other motto is: Do what you can, don't worry about what you can't. I couldn't afford a machine to move the hill, but I could use a shovel and wheelbarrow. So I did. For years. And now I have an arena. I named it and made a sign for it. It is called Dreams Come True arena. I let anyone who wanted to, come and ride horses in it.
It was like a magnet, attracting the neighbourhood kids. I started the Dreams Come True Club and the kids would come after school to ride there on my lovely wild horses that I rescued from slaughter. It was a free club so that poor kids who could not afford a horse would have an opportunity to ride.
My DH slaughtered that dream and I had to close the club and re-home most of the horses. We split up for awhile but now we are back together.
The arena represents my dream. The bee business is his dream. His dreams have always been prioritized over mine. I am a non-confrontational person and I avoid arguments as much as I can. I had a violent, angry father and I learned early on to shut up. So it is a bit of a victory to stand up for myself and draw a line, in the arena sand. It is not a total victory because he has put two huge railroad containers in one corner of the arena and I can't move them out, but I am doing what I can and moving anything smaller out. I am continuing my work on it today. Wendy
Oh, dear me! I'm sorry you've had to play second fiddle to the men in your life. Why are your husband's priorities more important than yours?
Well done on making a stand.
All the best

Michele- I forgot to tell you to look for a BurgerFi van at the race.. My niece does marketing for that company and posted on FB with she was going to Daytona. She is in her 40’s, red hair and name Joely. It would be so neat if you meet her!
Went to see Chicago at the Bass Hall this afternoon. It was our Christmas present from my DD. We loved it and had great seats. No exercise today but tomorrow is another day.

Karen, they are not but HE thinks so sometimes, lol. To be fair to him, he has many great qualities and he is the money maker while I am the Idea Generator, who creates our amazing, exciting life. I know I am no more perfect than he is. Remember, I have 9 cats and 9 horses, and I hate to cook and clean. LOL. Not many men would sign up for that!
Lanette, I did think of a third option as I was hauling a very heavy sugar tank out of my arena today: Just have no at all. Or maybe just visit a favourite once a month. LOL

Wendy ... I sent a message, but I know you've been busy ... can you tell me again what you use for tooth pain? I have a friend who is under a dentist's care but needs to relieve pain in a molar or she may not be able to get a bridge. I remember you talking about something you have used when you get the first start of tooth pain.
Thanks1 -

Propolis, extra-strength tincture. I get it from my health food shop in a tiny brown bottle with an eyedropper top and just drop a bit on sore tooth every two to four hours until the infection is killed off.
I never got the message. Maybe I don't know where to look...3 -
Thanks Wendy! She’s been pulling coconut and clove oil ... I’ll pass this along!

Wendy - splendid idea. Once a month sounds about right. (snort) That come-hither look should come in handy, LOL. If I tried that on my DH he'd ask me if I felt like I was going to throw up.
My DH has given me a good life too -- how many men would move lock, stock and barrel to a farm, fence 40 acres for my sheep, rebuild an old barn and rent a cherry picker so he could build an owl nest in it, practically kill himself baling hay each July in 100 degree weather, wrestle rams and help the shearer.
Can't remember if I've posted this before. It's a photo of my DH many years ago with a "baby" barn own that tumbled (or was pushed) out of the nest and fell behind the hay bales in the barn. He managed to grab the thing and took it out into the field. The local game warden said it would be OK, mom would find it and feed it and it would fly off soon. He was right.
Mary, I saw a Bobcat leap across the road in front of me one evening when I was coming home from work. Wasn't as big as yours - maybe it was a baby - but I'll always remember the wisps of hair on its ears and that short tail.

This was one of the few days that the weather had a strong influence on my exercise. I walked extra early this morning so we could leave early for Seattle. I dressed in the clothes I wanted to wear for the day but it was so rainy that I had to come home a bit early and take off all my clothes, throw them in the dryer, and put on dry ones for the day. Then it was so windy and choppy on the water that I had to limit the walking I usually do on the ferry because the boat was lurching so much. Coming back down the stairs to the car, I held the rail on both sides and held onto cars getting from the stairs to our car. Miraculously I'll finish the day with 17,000 steps.
Dogs are still boarded so the house is feeling empty.

Barbie, I tried liking your post, but it kept trying to "woo". I will never understand computers!
Becca, when you are ready, the right place will be found! I don't think your wants are extraordinary at all!!
Lanette, that is a really neat photo of your hubby and the owl, glad it was okay.
Today wasn't a great day, eating wise, hopefully tomorrow will be better. Looking forward to getting back to the gym on Monday!

Sooooo I have some exciting news. My best friend, who makes beaded jewelry, and I have been looking for a place we might be able to sell our handmade crafts, her jewelry and my ornaments. Today I heard from a gal I contacted. She and her husband are opening a new store in a small town northwest of OKC well known around here for their old shops and cafes, etc. She said she loved my ornaments, I had sent pics of about four, and to come check out the store. Jack and I will go up there Monday. We feel they are asking a very reasonable space rent and a percentage of sales. I'm excited and scared. If we go ahead with this venture, I need to get busy on ornaments.

Janet, that is wonderful news. I’m not surprised that they want to sell them. They are so beautiful.
I had lunch today with an old friend. Someone I use to work with. She is retired and is busier than ever. It was nice to get caught up.
Struggling today and feeling down on myself about my eating. Doesn’t seem like I’m even trying these days. I’m feeling like I did before I started this journey last May. Discouraged and a little depressed. I know I have to get back on track soon before I am even more out of control. I never should have stopped tracking and having some unhealthy foods during the holidays. Now it’s like starting from scratch again. And I was doing so good. Tomorrow is a new day. Maybe day 1 of chapter 2.
Terry in VT7 -
Woo Hoo Janet, an outlet for your creative ornaments. That is very exciting news! I predict they will sell like hotcakes.
Lanette, love the owl pic. My DH would totally miss seeing the wink as he is never around to see it. Hopefully, once we exit the travel business, MAYBE he will be around more. Unless he just fills up all his time with bees. Highly likely.
I am sore tonight from moving the heaviest stuff out of the arena. My hubby and one of his gung ho mates demolished my loading race (for unloading wild horses out of trucks) and stacked all the huge posts in the arena. He claimed they were going to build a big shed where the loading race was, to store everything in. Haven't seen any progress in four months so that's why I lost patience and moved everything out anyway. It is now stacked in HIS way instead of mine. Anyway, I had about 20 ginormous logs to shift and that took all my strength and most of the afternoon. (A real world weight lifting challenge.) I stored them behind the railroad units out of sight. I am very happy with my arena now. I need to go trim Red Devil's hooves and then maybe I will go for a ride on my Unicorn in my newly tidied arena. Wendy9 -
Terry, I truly identify with what you are saying. I have to really face the fact that I am an addict. I cannot have one piece, one bite, one meal, one cookie. I do and I'm a goner. I actually am trying to come to grips with this fact and treat it as such. I can't have it period. That being said, it is a minute by minute decision at times. I have to continually reinforce it. But I AM WORTH IT, and so are you. This is my choice by no means do I mean to advocate it for everyone. We all have to find what works for us and pursue it.
Janetr OKC4 -
Terry, chin up. I am also struggling to control my eating and change my habits. This is a constant and ongoing battle for us and there will be ups and downs. Fall down two times, get up three. Never, never, never give up. WC. As you say, tomorrow is a new day. Keep a journal and write down why you think you had a bad day and what you will do differently next time you have an opportunity to choose. "An unexamined life is not worth living." Plato. I believe the more time we spend thinking and analysing our problems, the more solutions will appear to us. Wendy7
