Good morning and welcome to the new ladies!
Becca ... praying for your husband and you...
grnwoodtree ... probably the biggest reason I come back to this group of ladies is that I can vent, complain, whine and no-one tells me to suck it up ... well except Pip who straps on a boot ... instead I get support, suggestions, empathy. No one in my physical world is interested, but these ladies understand. I'm with the others ... eat a pizza. And keep coming back. Someone here may say something that makes all the difference to you.
Mondays are "reset" days for me and that's just what I'm doing.

No support, empathy or suggestions me, just da boot :0)6 -

Kirby called in sick today so I didn’t post any of this on FB. Our last trip to the lot. Did some serious burning of firewood.

Aloha Ladies!
I am home from 10 days away from my trusty food scale where every bite gets measured and logged. I still logged everything the best that I could using the unscientific eyeball method. The results when I stepped on the scale this morning, up 1 lb from the day I left. I am confident that will come back off this week when I am back to my normal water consumption and the water retention from flying all night and day to get home are off. I ate a lot of fish (which I loved) and veggies and had ice cream 4 or 5 times. The last day we spent the day at a nice hotel (we had a 10 pm flight) and they had the best caramel cookies in the lounge, I ate a few bites of my husbands and then got one of my own and ate it on the plane! I made sure I got my walking in first thing every morning (even getting up at 4:30 one morning to get it in before we had plans with friends) so I stayed on track with eating and exercise. It was a great relaxing trip and we enjoyed ourselves.
Becca - good luck today to your husband. Prayers said. Take care of yourself during your time as nurse.
Lisa - I can understand you feeling taken advantage of. Hopefully things will calm down this week. I think he suggestion to tell your daughter to get a babysitter on weekends is a great one! It would force her to think about what she is going to do long term. I'm glad your son is doing better. Congrats on getting the scale moving in a downward direction!
Wendy - I agree with the others. This needs to be the peoples last trip to your house. You shouldn't be treated this way, and you shouldn't be expected to allow it in your own home. If your husband wants to see his friend, he can go to him.
Terry - I think it is your birthday? Happy Birthday if it is!
Hugs to those that needs them! Congrats to those with accomplishments! Welcome to all the new ladies!

(((Becca))) Praying for a great outcome for your DH.
Heather: We have satellite TV and a recorder. I don't miss the things I really want to see. I haven't been all that interested in the Olympics this go around. I watched curling with DSIL & some of the ice-skating. The time of events is very awkward for our time-zone. :ohwell:
Betty: I get to keep this decade for another year and a half. I hope to see you frequently.
Ellen NJ: Welcome to a great group! Stop by often for encouragement and support.
Margaret: Our winter is more than usually mild. We had one hard freeze this winter and a few frosty mornings. My tropical fuchsias are all still alive after sitting outside on the ground all winter. We live next to the Columbia River and I think it helps to moderate our temperatures to a degree. Last winter was another story altogether.
Wessecg: This process of weight loss is slow when done correctly. Be patient with yourself and count each calorie in every bite and swallow. Move more if you want to earn a bit more food. CICO=Caloires In, Calories Out. :flowerforyou:
I'm out of time but not at the end of the page. Have a great day, Ladies!

Wendy, I have an Aunt like that (quite wealthy too) - you are on to the game. My mom gave my aunt a bill at the end of her stay - itemizing everything and asking for reimbursement. Better yet do it now - "Here is what you spent so far, I know you planned for these expenses but we know they accummalate fast - ; We we so happy to have been able to save you XXXXX in lodging (~ $100/day) and that is out gift to you! You are so smart to stay here rather than a hotel as it has saved you so much in eating out by buying your own food at the grocery store!
Oh! Can you pay this now before you take off again so I can pay my credit card? "
They know they arnt coming back and are simply taking advantage of you - nice they can travel on your dollar. Wendy, for your own health and not to have them leave and you forever being and feeling a victim do what you need to do - defend your family when criticized - think ahead of what you would want to say in such a circumstance and use it when needed then change the subject - like " Certainly you shouldn't be concerned about that, your on vacation! oh does anyone want anything to drink?" innocuous enough but an interrupter, then subject changer. Shut it down. You will feel better about yourself.
- take the cost of your meals together and split them accordingly so it is clear you are willing to pay "your" share.
Becca - Fabulous news they got him moved up on the schedule - so so fortunate, stay possitive as the odds are in his favor now!2 -
Sharon in Lethbridge, I would love to see pics of your living room!
Your shopping trip sounded stressed! We are the rational people of the world, making decisions that are sound and realistic. Its guys that are impulsive! And Larry got the meat you don't need, and coffee beans, when you have perfectly good coffee at home... Then he says yes on the dress when you said no. That is a perfect good cop, bad cop scenario! I get mad at my husband when I have a grocery list, then he starts adding stuff. I demand the cost of each item. It definitely puts a damper on the shopping experience! Hugs!!!!
Husband just got taken to the procedure. So I hope everything goes well.
I brought Tupperware containers with my cereal in them so all I needed was a spoon and a carton of milk. Slept off and on last night. I felt like a really pretty guard dog, watching over her owner. Protective, and keeping a watchful eye on all the goings on.
Hugs everyone!

Welcome. I am so sorry for your health and personal issues. I can relate a little. I was diagnosed with Celiac about four years ago, and that rocked my eating world. I love hot bread and pasta dishes. I even miss ramen noodles. Lol And in the past few weeks, I've started having bouts with Raynaud's Syndrome. Does this mean Scleroderma is coming on? (I tested positive for it once before a negative retest.) Life sucks sometimes; no doubt about that. This is a great group of supportive women. We've got your back.

Hello to everyone. I’d love to join your group. I’m back to logging my food and making a dedicated effort to make better choices and lose 25 pounds.
I’ve never posted here before so just getting used to how things work. I am a bit technologically challenged.

My DH and I have decided that we will start having our big meal of the day at lunch time. In the evening, it will be up to each of us if we need something more. I think this will be good because I have gotten where I dread planning and cooking each evening.
Carol in GA
I do this on Sunday, Carol. I love it. I usually end up throwing a little something together for the kids (Like making ramen for the 11 year old last night -- I am such a good mom. :sarcasm. My husband is really resistant to it, for even one day. Frustrates me. He has pretty severe food anxiety because when he was a child, they sometimes went hungry. If he misses a meal, he is sure he is starving and might die. :rolling eyes.

Hi Sisters, well I couldn't believe my eyes when I stepped on the scales this morning. A drop of three pounds. Now, this only has ever happened when I have fasted or done keto. Yesterday I did neither! However, I did make a few tiny tweaks: I took a swig of Apple Cider Vinegar part way through the day. (Thanks for the tip Michele) I drank a cup of green tea instead of a glass of wine last night. And I ate hormone boosting herbs: basil, fenugreek, fennel as well as used a drop of essential oils of dill seed and rosemary. I also drank 600 mls of water after walking barefoot on the beach for an hour with Jock and Honey, trying to recharge my visitor-flattened battery. I made a home made frozen ice drink and used just a little pomegranate water as my sweetener. And I cut my coffee right back to just one mochachino in the morning.
Otherwise I ate eggs, spinach and salsa for breakfast, had chili and tortilla and cheese and sourcream and salad as well as snacking on icecream, a cookie, a peach, sunflower seeds and dried banana chips. And a few bites of leftover sausage too. And a handful of tortilla chips and two handfuls of potato chips. (craving salt?) And a walnut. LOL I keep having to edit and add things as I remember them!
If I can eat like that and lose weight too I have found the Holy Grail. LOL. Is it a fluke? Could be my body just releasing major stress? Wendy5 -
Happy Hug Day!
"Hug day is special enough to be celebrated with your better half, but also sweet enough to be celebrated with a dear friend. So ... make sure that you spread your arms and squeeze your loved ones into a bear hug to express deep appreciation for them."
Wendy - So sorry your guests are taking such advantage of you. I hope you're able to minimize opportunities for them to mooch for the rest of their visit! I'd definitely be offering to help those guests find a hotel the next time they asked to visit.
Kim - Oh, good grief, I can't imagine how it's possible for a grown woman to be that kind of roommate! Glad you'll be rid of her at the end of the semester.
Lisa - It's great that you're able to be so self aware when it comes to your daughter. Your conversation will be much more productive now than it would have been had you tried it when you were angry. And you're right, prolonged family visits can be tough on everybody.
Welcome to the new arrivals!
Philip and I had our first planned work weekend. On Friday we moved all the stuff that didn't belong there out of his office. Then Saturday we got to work pulling the paneling off the walls and exposing the shiplap. I think it's going to look really nice, and make a cozy massage space.
He works on Sunday, so I got a start on clearing out my own office. There's still a lot of clutter to deal with, but I got my sewing machine dug out and reinstalled in its cabinet so it's ready for duty again. Today I'll focus on my desk in preparation for 1) another trip to Houston on estate business this weekend and 2) tax time. Have I mentioned I hate filing?
Oh, yes, we also went to Ikea on Friday to get Philip a new desk. It's nearly impossible to get out of that place without getting in one's steps for the day!

Thanks for the welcome, ladies! Very disciplined today – did stretches, exercises, took the dog for a short walk, and housework! After my lovely afternoon nap, I am roasting sweet potatoes and carrots, and sauteing some collard greens with onions and mushrooms.
My scale died at some point during my recent move, so I found a new one on Amazon – 1byone Smart Scale, which enables me to connect my phone via Bluetooth and it will automatically upload a stats page. It tracks weight, BMI, Body Fat, Body Water, Bone Mass, Muscle Mass, Visceral Fat, and BMR. I’m sure it’s not as accurate as a doctor’s equipment, but should get me in the ballpark. So the BMI & Body Fat were about what I expected (ugh), and the Visceral Fat was high enough to give me a good motivating shock. Need to drink a lot more water, judging by the Body Water stats. My muscle mass & bone mass were both very good, though, better than average for my age, so I was pleased with that, and it helped offset the negative stats so I didn’t get totally discouraged.
Allie – regarding your dad’s home - when I recently came to a very sudden decision to move, I sold my old house to one of those “We Buy Houses for Cash” companies, and I couldn’t be happier. It was an older home (built in 1926), needed some repairs, and the basement/garage/attic were full of 33 years of my pack-rat ways, not to mention I had an unusual well/septic arrangement that may have had to be brought up to modern standards if it sold conventionally. The cash buyers gave me a 50% down payment and let me live in it rent-free for 5 weeks in order to get packed up. No repairs, no inspection, no painting, no staging, no showings, no real estate commission, no settlement costs, AND they had a “leave-behind” program where I could just take what I wanted & leave the rest of the junk behind. When I figured in the needed repairs, the Realtor commissions, the slow market, the fact that an asking price would likely be reduced by several thousands, the taxes & upkeep while it was on the market, the physical effort to clear it out, the mental stress (not to mention, in my case, that I would probably have lost out on my “new” home while the old one was waiting to sell), I feel that I did really well with the cash buyers. Everything was handled through a settlement company with an attorney, just like a regular real estate transaction, and it didn’t cost me a dime. I even talked them into $5,000 more than they offered me. Might be worth looking into in your case. (And just like buying a car, I didn’t sign ANYTHING at our first meeting. Within a few days, they were calling me with a better offer, LOL!)
Lenora – Glad to hear you sounding more like yourself in your last few posts. You have been in my prayers for a very long time.
Heather – I had a relative in the liquor/hospitality industry, and with the expectation of socializing with customers and indulging in the product he sells, it is easy to cross that line between charming joviality and liquor-fueled lowered inhibitions. If it is any consolation, it’s very likely that more than a few of your son’s colleagues have been through the same disciplinary process for similar transgressions.
Kim – those chicken roll-ups sound so tasty!
I’m off to roast some vegetables for dinner!

Becca: Sending good thoughts for your DH's procedure. I totally agree with this message from you, "We are like glorious old wise women! We console each other, offering each mental shoulders to vent, cry or ramble onto. I appreciate each and every one of you, from every corner of the globe!

I just had a txt from DD. She sounded frustrated with her state & it's social/political system. Any possible move closer to us would sure make me happy, even if she just moves back to Colorado. I'm praying for a good outcome for DD and her family—and for us.

Hi, I would like to join this group.
I am Pam,
My February Goals
#1 be below 250 fully clothed and hydrated for my Dr Visit on the 21st
#2. Increase my weights on each of my weight lifting exercises
#3. Keep eating healthy and finding new ways to plan for times I might be tempted to blow off my weight loss goals.
#4 Sleep, I need more sleep somewhere in my day. I work 12 hours shifts drive an hour a day, get up early to eat so I can take my first dose of insulin and exercise. I need to find some more short cuts so I can fit in another hour of sleep on work days.4 -
Heather, I feel your son would be wise to look for a different job not so connected to the world of alcohol. If he has that weakness, and is immersed in that world, how can he possibly resist? I wonder what his transferable skills are and what other industries would be attractive to him? My father in law died of alcoholism and his two sons have problems with it. I have had to learn to live with boozed up guys at my house at all hours...Not very nice. NZ has a booze based sports, male dominated society. My next husband I might choose an artist or musician or professor of literature... Any suggestions as to culture...perhaps Spanish? LOL Wendy4
