Glad you all enjoyed my bugging you...3

Michele - I don't have a treadmill, but my elliptical burns a lot of calories, more than my rower and recumbent bike. It's the only one that I can really get my heart rate up on.
I do log my food, but I don't always enter the actual food - I use "copy yesterday" or "Quick Add Calories". I know the calorie count for nearly everything, but if it's something new I'll look it up on the database. Sometimes I just do Quick Add and lump lunch and snack together to save time and faffing about. Or I add up all my snacks and drinks in one go. I'm not tracking macros as I know my diet is very healthy and I'm only interested in the calories.

Hi Sisters, I am so appreciating my quiet, visitor-free house this morning. Maybe it's like a rainy day that makes you appreciate the sunny days so much more...
Heather "Fit as a Butcher's Dog" haha, I love it. Typical sarcastic British humour, could be taken two ways as I imagine a butcher's dog would be very well fed indeed. LOL
Lisa, you and your hubby will enjoy your weekend escape so much more for having had the hard weekend. Life is full of contrasts. Hang in there. 115 days will speed by, and you will just have to tell your daughter that you will be taking weekend breaks more often..Praying for son inlaw to get sent back early. LOL
Rori, I envy you with the 13 day countdown. I wish I knew for sure when I was finishing up at the office so I could savour my countdown...but things are more ambiguous here.
Allie, you are a lovely person to feel compassion for Tom after all the dirt he has done on you. I have also found that it is impossible for me to turn off my compassion and love, despite betrayals and wrongs that close loved ones have done to me. Nobody is perfect and I am a forgiving person plus I don't choose to carry around a load of bitterness or anger or blaming. But of course, I think you have done the right thing to take yourself out of a hurtful situation and follow an emotionally healthier path of your own choosing.
Michelle, the bee hive process for queen making is rather complicated but I was grumbling to myself yesterday that the longest part was just getting dressed for it! LOL I try to avoid stings by putting on layers of thin clothes underneath my bee suit, two long sleeved tops and two leggings, plus I put my hair in a pony tail then wear a snood thingy (head scarf) to keep my hair from tickling my face and keep the sweat from rolling down into my eyes. Then on top of that goes my bee suit, woolen socks, gumboots, and long leather handed gloves. Yesterday I got stung on my knuckle, right through the leather glove! And did I mention that we are having the hottest summer ever here? LOL I am literally melting the whole two hours that I work in the hives. Next I have to turn off the electric fence and lock up the horses and dogs and open the gates.
I usually do about two hour stretches. By then my bladder is bursting and I am in need of a coooold drink. First thing I do to make queens is set up a hive by looking at it frame by frame until I (hopefully) locate the resident queen, which I then mark with a drop of colour so that she is easier to find in the future. I move her out of the hive into a smaller "nuc" box with enough bees to feed her and tend to the eggs etc. Once the main hive is queenless, then I find a frame with very young larvae on it. I take this frame up to the house to my high tech queen making unit (otherwise known as my laundry room) and I brush all the bees off the frame and off my suit before I enter the laundry room. Any bees that manage to sneak in usually try to fly towards the window and get caught by my pet spiders. Inside the laundry room, I take off my gloves and hood so I can see what I'm doing and use the tiny tools.
Next I use my Chinese grafting tool to carefully move the tiny larvae out of the comb and into a plastic cell, which looks a lot like a thimble. I then either screw the cell onto a frame if I've got a metal holder on it, or I hot glue the cell to a wooden frame. Then I put my hood and gloves back on and carry the queen cell frame back through the horse paddock and place it in the queenless hive so the nurse bees can feed the baby larvae and turn them into queens. Nine days later I am supposed to take the cells out again and put them in the incubator in order to be placed in "Splits" to create new hives. But I have been taking them out at 7 days to try to stop an "early hatch" problem. We might be getting little cages to place over the cells to try to stop the early hatch problem. If a queen hatches early, she kills all the other queen cells. We have just bought a bunch of "Queen Condos" where we will be able to place the cells, let the new queen hatch out and go on her mating flight, and then we can put mated queens into our splits instead of cells. It is all a lot of fun but hard work too. It is an interesting process and I like it because it is a life-creating process and a start-to-finish job where you do all the different steps involved instead of just one little part.
Okay, I'm sure most of you just skimmed right over that LOL, and that's okay. I'm a bit of a bee bore. At least I don't give you TMI about my extremely complicated reconciliations and report processes that I undertake at the office. LOL Wendy8 -
Sharon in Lethbridge,
I make great roasts, Italian pasta dishes., but we go out for Chinese, and Mexican food. We only have a pizza place that has a lunch buffet that husband likes, a Mexican family restaurant here in our area, and a Chinese restaurant down the next coastal city. We don't eat at a lot of the trendy, eclectic restaurants in Astoria. There is a great breakfast place here in our area too. Its across the street from the high school, so when youngest son would get hot chocolate there or him and his friends would pool their money and all share a cinnamon roll. They are dinner plate size!
That's quite a compliment when your husband likes your cooking over going to any restaurant!! Oh and you got a massage tooooo! I'm happy jealous of ya!!! My dear husband sucks at massages! He just doesn't know any pressure points, and his massages usually end up trying to be intimate!!! "No, ya nut, I just want a massage thank you kindly"....... *long sigh*.
When we attended the nudist resort, I used to tell people I gave great thumb! Most of my times spent in the pool areas were giving neck, and shoulder massages! I made one guy almost cry once! Um no he wasn't in pain..... I guess I massaged out his stresses so it kind of was a release. I always told the guys to ask my husband first, though he never said no, maybe it was to just keep tabs on me.
Today my hair is in pigtails! I know, not age appropriate, but really comfortable! I gave my hair some coconut oil so, it was really my only choice to put it in!
Seeing the tax lady today! With both state and federal, we get back almost $1300! Woohoo! Putting aside some for moving, and then enjoy the rest!
Hugs my friends!

I think it is time American's stop asking politicians "How many kids have to die in school shootings" and instead ask "Whose kids have to die in school shootings" in order to have some action taken for gun control. Obviously sheer numbers won't move our politicians. This is America, land of "who you know". Not that I wish any more school shootings, but how quickly would things get resolved if those politician's children and grandchildren were the among the students involved?! My heart is so hurt; but I am SO incredibly angry that this is still going on and NO action has been taken for gun control.
Spending the day with small innocent children, who in a couple of years will be going to school, where they will be having "shooter drills" on what to do if a shooter enters the school.
sorry if too political. It's all I've got in my head this morning. Turning the news off so that the kids don't see it. Sending love to you all. Especially you, Cheri, with friends and family still in the Parkland community! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
I was thinking something similar, KJ. Politicians keep saying, "We need to wait until we have finished our time of mourning before we discuss solutions," but at the rate these incidents are happening, we are in a constant state of mourning.

I made it up and out the door this morning in time for a 5:15 power/strength training class at the gym.
Good thing I'm so flexible! I'm giving myself a pat on the back!!

Happy Thursday to you all! Except Lisa and Okie, Happy Friday to you ladies! I turned off the news. Had my cry this morning and my day went on, filled with loud and noisy toddlers. I can tell it is end of the week, they are getting a little moody. I have one little guy that is battling a cold. His mom brought cough medicine and told me that he will only take it in pop. lol Well, that's not happening here. It is not like it is nasty tasting. It is that yummy grape flavor that kids like. I measured it and placed it in front of him at lunch and he said, "Where's my pop?" (He is 3 1/2) Needless to say, he wouldn't take it straight; so I had to get my baby med syringe out and straddle the kid and shoot it into the back of his throat. He is a little red haired guy, and has that fiery temper to match. His face was the color of his hair, he was SO angry. But, I got the meds into him and we all made it to naptime.
I have been carb loading like a marathon runner. Is this an Olympic event? Because I deserve a medal for this. I have stayed within my calorie limit; but carbs are SO FAR off my list of foods. And my tummy has been reminding me with it's grumbling that I am not giving it the right thing. So...back on track for dinner. Tomorrow is another day. All leftover carbs will be in the trash tonight if DH and DYS don't finish them off. I think, when it comes to pasta or rice, that I need to make only enough for them for one meal. No leftovers, even if they ask for them. Because I WILL eat them if they are there.
Michelle - elliptical will give you a harder work out in half the time as the treadmill. Especially if you incorporate arms. If your elliptical has interval programs you can use; those are magic with melting those pounds off.
Wendy- Oh that poor, ignorant woman who has been horrible to you! She is missing out on learning about your bees and your extraordinary life! I would give my left nut (if I had one) to come visit you and put on some bee-keeping clothing and watch/help/learn! Absolutely fascinating!
Becca- My DH is the same about massage with me. Grrrr! Flattering, yes, but when your back hurts or you have general aches and pains and you just want some one to stroke your head or hair or rub your back to help relax you...yeah. Can't go to the DH (and D doesn't stand for "dear" at times like this).
oopsie, baby awake...gotta fly ttfn KJ

Wendy, I read the bee stuff all the way through. Simply fascinating! I have to agree with Kelly, your "guest" is missing out on a great opportunity to learn something. I'm pretty sure it's not something I would like to do all the time, but it would be neat to see it done at least once. Thank you for sharing!
In regards to massages, yes, dh usually had "ulterior" motives for giving me one, but I was okay with that. I did enjoy both phases! lol (where is that giff of that little devil?? lol) Oh! found him!
My heart breaks for all those who have lost loved ones in school shootings. And for those who have to talk to their kids about what to do in case of an active shooter in their school. That's just not something that kids should have to worry about.....
Janetr, not offended here! I agree! (and it cracked me up too!)
I have found that I can burn more calories on the elliptical than the treadmill, but that's partially because I can go faster on the elliptical. When I was running, it was pretty close, but the elliptical is much easier on the joints.
My back is still hooped. Saw the chiro yesterday, then made the mistake of going for groceries. My back was screaming at me by the time we got home and I hadn't lifted anything, just the walking did me in. Took some Tylenol, sat with the ice pack, that did not help. After dinner I put the heating pad on and that helped a lot. Even sat on it for about 15 min this morning to loosen things up a bit.
Oh, gotta go, work is calling.

Happy Hippo Day!
In honor of the Hutto Hippos (the high school team from our neighboring town): "Bet you didn’t know that Hippo loosely translates to River Horse in ancient Greek. Hippo Day, then, celebrates the third largest mammal on Earth. Why not take some time to waddle in a mud bath, get angry with some tourists, and yawn a lot whilst opening your mouth really-really widely?"
Mary - Thanks for youir offer to help with the kettlebells! I did find three gyms in town that have them, and it doesn't really seem like something I'd need a group class in. Any of them would probably show me the basics and tell me how to do it safely on my first visit, and that's all I'll need at first. When I'm ready to progress I may hit you up for advice on good programs and/or variations. Need to get Dad's estate out of the way, then I'll go visit the gyms and see which one I like.
Beth - You know what is looking to be our biggest stinker? Dad's stupid timeshare! I think we're going to have to pay somebody to be rid of the thing! They bought it when Mom was living and she was a whiz at getting the most out of it. I think it mostly just sat unused after she died.
Vickie - Those are great goals! I think we all get to skimming now and then, especially when there are a lot of posts. A lot of us also have been dealing with major life events... I can't speak for the rest, but I know it's had me distracted lately. Please know that you are welcome here, and many of us understand what it's like to fight the weight battle over and over again.
KJ - Sorry your husband burned his mouth, but what a hilarious story it left you! I'm a big meanie, so if Philip had done that I'd probably have sent him the Google search link instead. ;P
Becca - LOL! Poking myself in the eye with the coffee spoon is just the sort of thing I'd do with my first cup of the morning. Good thing I take it black and bitter!
Sue - I want to dognap Nessa, she's so cute!
Wendy - Wouldn't it be terrible if the bees started a nest in your visitors' car? (Nice car... be a shame if anything happened to it... ) Philip's and my current bedtime story book makes me think of you and your queens. It's "City of the Bees" by Frank S. Stuart. The Kirkus review says, "A poetic, to lyric account of one year of life in a wild bee colony, that follows in the Maeterlinck tradition of treating this unique insect with not only respect but with a mysticism that enlarges and emphasizes the distinctive characteristics of bee history." Written in 1947, it's incredibly florid and more than a little anthropomorphic, but also pretty fabulous. The writing is gorgeous.
Blackburn - I've got about the same amount to lose as you. It's daunting, but taking it day by day definitely helps. Not to mention having a grandbaby on the way as a motivator!
Good grief... I didn't sleep well last night and finally gave up and read until daylight. As a result, I forgot to eat breakfast - a rare oversight for me! No wonder I was starving by lunchtime.
I'm sick at heart over events in my country this week. We've taken what I think are some very ugly turns in recent years, and all any of us can do is get our voices (and our VOTES) out there. "Thoughts and prayers" aren't going to fix it on their own.
I have to drive to Houston again tomorrow, so I'll likely be MIA from the community until I get back.
Love and light to all.

I love keto diet! Right now I am on maintenance and my body is very low fat probably under 20%. I am on a recomposition to gain muscle mass. Keto is responsible for my fat loss and my husbands 20 pounds of belly fat loss. When I eat I do mainly eat keto diet but no longer need to lose fat. It's an excellent diet as is low-carb. Karen gave you a great link to a site that I would also recommend. I also do intermittent fasting 19:5 which is a five hour window of eating. I love the kettle bell for a complete body and strength training work out.

Wendy: Thanks for all the info on making the Queens. I would hate to have to put on so many clothes to stay unbitten. It was interesting on the Dr. Oz show today as they were talking about "fake" honey being imported from China. An author about this said he would never buy honey unless it was certified to come from the country of origin. I hope you make lots of money on your business as I'm sure yours will be the very best.

Yvonne, thanks for the tip of City of Bees. I will be seeing if I can get it on audio.
Mary, I have had similar episodes feeling bug on head in bed, had a weta on me once. EEEEK! At least I found it and put it outside. I can't sleep in bed until stripped and de-bugged otherwise.

Wendy sweet Jesus that picture almost did me in.... WOW, facinating about the Bee's I read it all the way through..
I had a accident this morning, wacked into the back someones car and he got out and yelled at me, I wasnt really paying attention and praise the lord no one or the cars were not hurt.. But I think everything is finally catching up to me, I tried to work on the probate paperwork and Reverse Mortgage paperwork, something wrong with furnace and it was only 49degrees in there, stayed for a couple of hours, and came home and cleaned... Having Tom over for dinner, we have to come to some solution to end this that is fair to both of us.
Working tomorrow as I missed tuesday because of court, so that will be ok...
I will be going to bed early tonight as I have to get Tal on the bus tomorrow and then to work7 -
Allie good luck! I don’t really think you should concern yourself with being fair to Tom. Was he concerned with being fair to you when he had the affair? Take every penny you are entitled to plus a little more so you don’t have to struggle and stress over money.
I’m sorry things are just all around crappy for you right now!
Okie in the TX Hill Country1 -
Wendy, eerkkk!
Janet, no offense take here.
Slight bladder infection and now on antibiotics. Should be feeling better tomorrow. Didn’t get to sleep until 2 this morning so tired. Day all screwed up and did terrible with eating. I have to get back on track soon. Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow and be able to think of something other than the bathroom!
Wore one my new sweaters today. This one was $9.99. What a deal.
Well off to pick up DH from work.
Hugs, Terry in VT where we are having a heat wave at 51F (11C)!4 -

Speaking of fake honey, my mother has "honey syrup," which I had never seen before. It's basically sugar syrup flavored like honey. I did not know what to think about that and lost quite a bit of respect for my mother's culinary choices.

Hi everyone! I’m back and ready to get going again. I had a lot happening so I was MIA for a while.
Went to KC for Thanksgiving and when I drove back home, about 400 miles I had to turn around and head to Little Rock. My mom was having a pacemaker put in and she wanted to see me. If you remember we weren’t speaking for a while.
Then I had that flu going around in early December. DH and I both had it for two weeks. Then Christmas came and went. I saw my mom one more time and then she passed away January 5th. Her cremains were interred at Fort Sam Houston national cemetery in San Antonio, Texas with my dad, just last week. My DH and I drove down there; that was 600 miles down and and back. It took about a month for her burial to take place because they’re just busy at the national Cemetery.
During this time I found out I was disinherited! My sister had influenced her to do that. What made it worse, three days after she died my sister packed up all her stuff Into a Uhaul and took it back to Las Vegas.
So, after all the anger and disbelief, I am over it all! Ready to get back on track. I gained 9 lbs but that’s not bad considering all the stress!
How has everyone been?
