Cheri - beautiful blankets. Is that C2C? If so, how long did it take you to make them
Michele in FL for now who got sad today realizing that she'll only be here another few days
Yes Michele, these afghans are C2C! I love how easy and quick they are to come together. I can usually make the smaller sized ones needed for Project Linus in about a week. I work on them during TV time. Otherwise I'm in my sewing room working on quilts or papercrafting.

Heather - wow! An offer! You and Lisa have hit the jackpot so far this year on real estate sales and it's not even the end of February yet. I am thrilled for you both and slightly panicked - not really, just remembering all the flurry of activity getting ready to move into a new place. A happy panic! You'll both be closer to sons which will be great.
Katiebug - I was so sorry to hear about your mom's other brother passing away. How is she doing with all of this? Glad your surgery went OK - what a busy time for you with the tile guy coming tomorrow and getting your remodeling done. DONE! Glad your sister and Mama were there. Good for you giving up diet soda for Lent!
I gave up shoplifting and my daily fifth of Jim Beam for Lent and I'm a better woman for it! Oops, looks like Billy Graham has joined the angels so I'd better cut with the joking. When I was a kid, our church had evangelists once a year and it really got people's attention, plus we were required to come home after Sunday School and watch Oral Roberts. Graham did have quite a dynamic presence the couple times I saw him speaking to crowds on TV and it would have been neat to see him in person I think.
Allie - so glad to hear your visit to the police station wasn't to turn yourself in! Hope you got everything taken care of OK.
Janetr - love your Fauxberge eggs. What fun it must be to create them... do they kind of design themselves once you get going or do you plan it all out in detail before you start? So terrific when the creative juices flow!
Rye - I am excited for your new fridge. I agree - cleaning them is a pain, if only they would stay clean! I say that about my whole house though. LOL.
Sunkist - those oil charts are interesting and I saved them. My BFF sells oils and I have a bunch but needed a quick reference. Also, regarding your retirement - would it be possible for you to keep volunteering as a police/community liaison if you wished to? That is, of course, if you are leaving on what you feel are good terms (chief and staff you liked and respected.)
Karen in VA - I once had Ethiopian food when I worked in Seattle - there was a restaurant by the U of Washington - this is 30 some years ago. Anyhow, a friend took me there and I really loved it, it was the first time I'd been introduced to those spices. I think that kicked off these Midwestern kids into really branching out and trying new things.
Today I was able to use my "functional fitness". DH's knee is buggered up again and I volunteered to carry in a couple loads of firewood. He told me to only bring in 6 pieces at a time - he normally fills up a carrier with a dozen split chunks each load. I put half a dozen pieces in the carrier and lifted it - light as a feather! So I brought in a couple "DH" loads like it was nobody's business and went out into my cold studio since I was warmed up and did my strength training.
Taking over some of his jobs as his arthritis gets worse is exactly what I've been training for - a year ago there's no way I could have carried in a DH-sized load. I'm so grateful I can do it.
Snow is returning, up to 3" tonight. Pacific Northwest ladies - watch for ice! No slippy slide and falling. We want to keep you from getting broken.
Have a good evening ladies!

Lanette , thank you so much, though I'm not very creative I'm afraid. I get ideas from pictures I see online and adapt to what I have on hand. I do pretty much plan it out before I start. On some, I've not liked how they look, and have taken them apart a few times.I
Mary, loving the progress I'm seeing in my body as I continue my KB work most every day. Jack mentioned it today too. Yes!!!

Well, silly me.... I usually proof read my posts, just looked at my last one and read "Terry I'm glad your Dr isn't seriously ill". Of Course I meant dd! lol stupid auto correct!!
Haven't brushed my teeth yet tonight, but will shortly. I now have 3 good days under my belt, so to speak, so am feeling good about this whole process. I realized today that it's only 3 months til the wedding. I would really like to lose 15 - 20 lbs by then. I know it's very doable, but it will take some work on my part. But anything worth having is worth working for, right?

JanetR, your eggs are so lovely. How will you display them. I liked the one you showed yesterday. It it was a ?viollet? on the same color tulle. Charlie and I love to collect eggs but they are the stone type eggs. We have real pretty stands that are so,e kind of metal. I think we got them at Peir One Imports. I have also used plastic linen napkin rings to put eggs on. And please don't say that they are just styrafoam. They are a thing of beauty, an art.
Charlie had his one year check up with his neurologist for his Parkinson's. Only thing he said was to encourage him to excersise his left arm in order to be able to do the things with his arm that he can't. He has so much trouble getting billfold out and putting his jacket on. So I told him that I have a 1 and 2 pound weights and resistance bands and he encouraged his to use them. I don't think he will hesitate to use the weights because he likes to show off in front of me. Now I don't know how he can show off with a 1 and 2 pound weight. Knowing he was a neurologist, I did sneak in a couple of questions about my stroke and recovery and the Lyrica. He told me to increase the Lyrica to 3 times a day and I told him that it was ordered by my family doc and that I would never take a medicine differently from the prescribing Doctor.
Well our wonderful weather didn't last. My cats know that I am not going into the kitchen until my sound machine is off. Then they get off the bed. So I wake up, sit on the side of the bed and do some modified flex ups, go to the bathroom. Come back into bedroom and put blood pressure cuff on. I know I have to wait about 15 minutes before I take my blood pressure to let it go down from the affects of getting up and doing what I do in the morning. So I take blood pressure and then I finally turn that magic sound machine off and the cats know Mommy is getting up. So they run to the patio door. The last two days I have opened the door and they have had the screen to sit in front of for hours. Well Mommy had already looked at the temp on my phone and saw it was 40! Eeks! Wha happened????? But poor Mozart, he still wants that door open so he puts his paws up on the lock but it is cat proof!!!
The cat condo my daughter bought me last year for Christmas has a ball on a string underneath the top tier. Well Mozart sat on the next tier and chewed that ball off and then he worked hard until,he had the string chewed off. He has had the most fun with that ball. I have bought balls for him befor and he just hasn't shown that much interest in them plus they all end up underneath the intertainment center. But oh the fun he has had with this one. It has a little tiny rattle in it. I'm sure Christina would not be upset at all that h has chewed it off since he has so much fun chasing that fuzzy ball all through the house.
Just had a long, long talk with my brother, haven't talked to him for awhile and it was soooo goooood.

Heather - WOO HOO, so happy for you
Lanette - I wonder if by the time we get home the papers will still be full of Bill Graham stuff? I bet the Sunday paper will.
janetr - you get really really good inspiration for your ornaments. they are just beautiful
Michele4 -
Cheri, you are so productive and creative too!
Good luck, Michele, with the Denise situation.
Good news on the house, Heather!
Lanette, I too am trying to get in shape partly because my DH is not so hot on stairs and chores with that D_MN arthritis either. Starting to think about long term solutions and moving to a single floor someday.
It was warm here and now it will be cold again.
Feeling so inspired by the way those young people in Florida are handling themselves. God bless them! And not so inspired by the adults.
Get to go to the lawyer and do all our end of life paperwork tomorrow-- just want to write the check and sign everything and then try to forget about it and live.
Welcome to the new people-- I don't post much so if you blink you might miss me in this chatty group!

Janetr- I'm so happy that you and your husband are seeing your progress with the Kettlebell! Keep up the great work! Beautiful egg! I love the colors.
Michele - enjoy your last days! A lot of the snowbirds are starting to leave here next month. Most go April and May. We're staying until the middle of May when my husband's daughter that lives in San Diego is going to have her baby and school ends for John. Then back to Minnesota for June and July.
Heather - congratulations on your prospective home sale! I hope all goes well for you! Very exciting time. Also your running progress is very inspirational!
I had a telephone interview for a teaching position here close to where we live. Still not sure if I want to commit to a full time job.
Have a fantastic evening everyone!

Lanette, thanks for asking about my mom. She is doing well, but she has never been the type to give in to grief, pain, depression, anything like that. Her solution is to stay as busy as her 85 year old self will let her. She hated to see my sister go home. She called to check on me this afternoon and commented how lonely she and daddy were without the house full of caregivers and their never-ending drama. I’m going up tomorrow, and she and I are going to visit her cousin who had a stroke and has been moved to a nursing home about 15 miles away. Y’all may recall she is the one who was at the hospital out close to Peach.
She busied herself today writing thank you notes. I helped her by finding addresses on the internet.
I’ve stayed within calories today. One day at a time. I’ll take it.
Janet, the eggs are truly beautiful. Your creative talent is amazing!
Welcome to all the new folks.

Got a call tonight from my father. In 30+ years he has never once called me after 4:00 pm. And only twice after 10:00 AM that I recall. Scared the living daylights out of me. Turns out all is well, his cousin, who died intestate about a year ago, had considerable money (as I suspected but didn’t dare hope.) Well Daddy is one of three cousins and after the state takes their cut it is a small but significant sum for someone who only had no savings, only social security. We contribute money to him each month, and will continue to do so, but he feels so much better now that IF he needs a nursing home, he will have some options.
I think it is time for me to go visit home. My dad, older sister and younger brother are there- I just havent been able to contemplate going back since we lost mom. Now that I’m working maybe we could afford to do so this summer. For sure I couldn’t do it without DH there by my side.
Been thinking a lot about Mom the past few days. I miss her so badly some times like now.
I dreamt of mom last night. We were at the store I worked at in high school (long since closed). I was buying some fabric and talking to her about how much it had changed since I worked there.
Sometimes I think I don’t want to cut my hair because the long hair means I don’t mistake myself in a glimpse in a mirror for my mom. She always had short hair. It was darker than mine too. Otherwise we looked a lot alike.

Mary, thank you so much, you've been my inspiration. I really enjoy it and it takes such a little time each day.
Joyce, thank you sweetie. I'll have to find some pretty egg holders like you have to display my eggs. My DH has offered to make me some, but I actually think I need something a bit different than he has in mind. lol The egg yesterday is rather more pink than lavender, however in the picture it definitely picks up a lot of the color from the chiffon.
Ladies you all are so kind, I appreciate your encouraging comments on the eggs. I hope some shoppers at the Craft Store think so The name of the store is Home Sweet Home on the Range. It is scheduled to open April 2nd. I hope it all goes without a hitch. Off in search of some ideas for my next egg.

Hey all!
I miss an afternoon and wow! 175 new posts.
I go to a Bible study on Tuesdays and I had one cookie!! There is a whole table full of snack items that are mostly homemade and very tasty.
My Mom’s pictures thank you so much with your sweet words about my mom’s pictures. She was fun to be with and had a great life! And yes the dark haired woman in one of the picture is my evil sister. I try not to think of her being evil just doing what she has done her whole life.
The day we left for San Antonio for my mom’s services at Ft Sam Houston, I wasn’t 2 miles away from home and a dog ran into the front side of my car. I didn’t see him because he hit on the side not in front of me. I was going about 35 mph and I saw him run off with another dog in my mirror across a pasture. He looked hunkered up. I felt so bad! Then I was another 2 miles down the rode and I ran over a squirrel and killed the poor thing! I just burst out into tears crying. My DH said don’t be silly, but everything was hitting me! My mom’s death, my sister being so awful then a dog and a squirrel. I just wanted to put that out there! Now I feel better.
It has been raining for two days now and have been averaging 6” a day. It’s still raining tonight. We’re supposed to get another front moving in tomorrow so it looks like more!
Janet and Lisa The eggs are beautiful! I love them and Lisa your idea was fabulous!
Sunkist I use CBD oil too. It helps take the edge and anxiety from pain. Even though I take 2700 mg if gabapentin a day it really helps. It’s natural and has a different effect than drugs. I’m out right now and can’t wait til it comes in the mail. I would recommend it to anyone but a lot of people are just weird about it even though it’s legal in all 50 states and can be bought on Amazon!
Three favorite foods
My favorites are:
Tex-Mex
BBQ brisket
Italian
I’ve lived in the southwest and Texas most of my life so you gotta love the first two! Even now that we are in Arkansas we seek out the closest thing to it!!
Good evening My Fitness Pals!

Hi Sisters, just came in and caught up on the posts. I'm pooped! Been on my feet since daybreak, feeding animals, taking queens out in a downpour (hubby had to come out and hold an umbrella over them) then drove an hour to the next town where our partner has just set up a new extraction plant. Spent the day learning how to extract our honey. So interesting! Using the "pricker" then the "spinner" and the "centrifugal" and the vat and finally hosing the honey out of the vat and into the barrels sitting on the weighing scale. Got home with just enough daylight left to go out and make another 9 frames of queen cells. Needed to do it today as I am heading out of town to visit with my dd and the grandies for the weekend (and avoid You Know Who). Now I have to make dinner, then pack for tomorrow and cook up some chicken for Jock to eat while I'm away and tidy up the house. Will sleep well tonight! Did no official exercise today but expended much energy!
I take Saint John's Wort whenever I start feeling anxious or worried or overwhelmed. I use other essential oils such as frankinscence and dill seed oil and rosemary as well. My favourite calming sent is the smell of red wine. LOL Time for a glass right now! Wendy7 -
Dana- you definitely have gone through a lot (((hugs))) I went through a similar situation with my sister. Have you thought of hiring a lawyer and demanding probate? My sister manipulated my mother and that was actually considered elderly abuse. If your mom had any form of dementia you could take your sister to court. Not sure you want to go that route but you might want to look into it. My sister is paying the piper for her choices right now.

lol That made me laugh. Well maybe not On FB my 18 yr granddaughter had put a pic of a little thing they were all doing that said what will you look like in 9 years. So I did it too and posted it, it showed this Barbie Doll looking blonde. I wrote under it, yep that's me at the sweet young age of 77, with a little nip tuck here and a LOT of stuffing there, that's me in 9 years.
Thank you for you help and I will increase in a few more weeks, been doing the 25# for two weeks now. I'll have to make a trip to the sporting goods store for a heavier KB. Jack has been my biggest cheer leader from the get go of my deciding to have the gastric bypass and every step of the way the last 4 years. He's a sweetheart.

I'm awake early, of course. :noway:
Was awake in the night too, but moved into the spare room and read THE PANTS OF PERSPECTIVE, a book about a run from the south to the north of New Zealand. Don't worry folks, I shan't be doing it! Wendy might though!
Lisa - the people with the offer have been interested almost from the get go last year, but had to sell their place first. it looks like the offer on their place is pretty firm. It would be nice if we can get a bit more out of them, but DH seems resigned to having to make up the difference. Brighton and Hove is one of the most expensive areas of the country - it's like moving to California, the posh bits. I don't want to get too excited but we have spied a house near the sea, a couple of roads from the last one we offered on. It needs the kitchen knocking through, but we could live with it. I hope we are in a position to view soon.
Your news is very exciting! Nice to get your own project on its way at last. It's great that you can work anywhere.
Will do some kettlebell swinging today for my bonus pm calories, plus a bit of line dancing. I might get outside to see if my GPS watch works and finds a satellite quickly. My kettlebell is 17 lbs, so, Janetr, you are doing really well! Mine only gets used about once a week, but I'm doing dumbbells every day in my morning routine.
Rye - Great news for your dad! So nice to have a bit of security. In some ways you are lucky that you miss your mum. I haven't missed either of my parents, ever. Strangely I think more fondly of my mother now that I'm writing my memoir as I remember a lot of good stuff, not just the betrayals. I did learn to love her when she got old and frail. I always feel a bit jealous when people say how much they miss their parents; I don't know what that means.
Well, we shall see what the day brings. A few phone calls might be made.

One highlight today ... we stopped at a friend's place (someone I haven't seen for 3 or 4 years ) and I tried my hand at spinning ... like with a spinning wheel!

Morning, all...
Woot! Finally lost that 11th pound this morning, after popping back up a bit from our weekend retreat and traveling. I am a little too weird about numbers--and getting past 10-pound marks is always a boost. But the number focus comes in handy on days like today, where I'll be comparing donations across a five-month stretch from the general ledger to our database and physical records (all scanned, so I can do it remotely). It's a little mind-bending, but do-able.
Woke up just before 3 a.m., but I can take a nap later if I must. Have to write an instructional pamphlet someday on "careers for the insomniac,"
Love y'all,
