Hello ladies! Happy Thursday! Amazed how fast the week is flying by! I finally HEARD from my licensing consultant! She texted me yesterday. She had planned to visit my home last week, but got called to a investigate an incident at another childcare home. Without giving me any details; she let me know that she was going to be interviewing and investigating the circumstances around it all of this week. Makes me sad, because this usually means a child was killed or severely injured in some way. Anyway, she asked if early next week will work for me, and I said yes. SO...that is settled. She was very kind.
Heather- Wow! What a day! So happy for the big bite on your home and sending you positive vibes on the house hunt in Hove! As far as that lottery ticket...a good omen...just don't spend it all in one place!
Janet- Beautiful eggs! And kudos for your kettlebell success! Cheers for you!
MonaRaeHill- lol All of our threads are long! But chock full of information and fun! Love the meme! Don't forget to bookmark our thread (if you are enjoying it) and look for Barbie's last post of the month. She will post the link that takes us into March! Remember to bookmark March!
Terry- Glad your daughter is feeling better! Sounds like she has met some one that is in the same "place" in life as she is. Fingers crossed for her. And if this isn't "the one", maybe she has made a friend and found out that she is not alone in looking for someone to settle down with!
Wendy- Honest to God, woman, you HAVE to start filming your life with bees. Whenever you post on your bee activity, I am enthralled. IF I ever get out your way, and you are still keeping bees, I will offer myself up as free labor on your bee/horse/chicken farm, just so I can "experience" your life!
Beth- Hoo-rah! One day at a time! You are on a roll!
Sending love and hugs to all who need them! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

Hi Ladies,
Cold, wet day here so I think I'll make a pot of stew. DH got 3 deer during bow season so I have a full freezer. So venison stew it is.
Allie- since we so close to each other, we should meet for coffee sometime soon.
Terry- you might try soaking your feet in a tub of very warm water with a few drops of lavender oil. DH does that from time to time. He's on his feet all day and has pain often in his heels.
Janetr- love your egg designs. Very pretty.
Have a great day everyone.3 -
Lanette- Sorry to hear about DH's knee pain. Having an arthritic condition myself, I thought I'd share what I use since it has brought me much relief.Glucosamine sulfate 1000mg., Turmeric 800mg., and omega 3 fish oil 3600mg.(3 1200mg. capsules daily) If he uses these daily, he will probably notice results in about a week. This has really helped me.3

Karen in VA - I once had Ethiopian food when I worked in Seattle - there was a restaurant by the U of Washington - this is 30 some years ago. Anyhow, a friend took me there and I really loved it, it was the first time I'd been introduced to those spices. I think that kicked off these Midwestern kids into really branching out and trying new things.

Lanette I love everything about Ethiopian food, but I especially love the communal dining experience. Since the food is high in carbs and the restaurants are a hundred mile train trip away, it's a rare and special treat.janetr7476 wrote: »...The name of the store is Home Sweet Home on the Range...

Janetr This is brilliant! How clever. Fauxberge Eggs from Home Sweet Home On the Range. I love it!...Been thinking a lot about Mom the past few days. I miss her so badly some times like now.
I dreamt of mom last night. We were at the store I worked at in high school (long since closed). I was buying some fabric and talking to her about how much it had changed since I worked there.
Sometimes I think I don’t want to cut my hair because the long hair means I don’t mistake myself in a glimpse in a mirror for my mom. She always had short hair. It was darker than mine too. Otherwise we looked a lot alike.
Rye in TX who really needs to put down the phone and go to sleep.
Rye I miss my mother too. It hurts my heart every day. She died 03/01/2001 of metastatic breast cancer. She was my cheerleader & champion when I was a girl, my mentor through difficult teen & young adult years, and my best friend & confidante as a grown woman. Several of the women on this thread had difficult or at least not stellar relationships with their mothers. I feel incredibly & undeservedly lucky to have had a phenomenal mother. She was not perfect, I don't mean than, and we had plenty of fights & disagreements especially when I was a teenager. She could be an aggravating martyr and sometimes abused alcohol. So I don't mean to make her sound like a perfect saint. She was a wonderful flawed human being and she was my hero.
Katie Hugs for you and your mom.
Dana Hugs for you.
I think that's all I can handle for today.
Except to say: Beth - Just for Today I will stay within my calorie & macronutrient limits.
Karen in Virginia with a grandboy due in April!

The purchasers came back with an improved offer, so we have ACCEPTED it. :drinker:
Now to get serious about looking for a house to buy.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx19 -
Heather WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Congrats! It's all working out finally!
Karen in Virginia3 -
Beth, Good for you doing well yesterday. If you did it yesterday, you most certainly can do it today. You go girl!
Terry in VT
Yesterday, I tracked it all (even the Mexican restaurant meal) and was only 130 calories over my allotment. Given my recent eating habits, this was acceptable.
And so today .... just for today ... I will track all my food and stay within my calorie allotment!

Becky - thank you for those suggestions! I am a fan of vitamins and natural substances for pain and inflammation relief.
DH, on the other hand, has Rheumatoid Arthritis which actually is under control most times. He's had it for over 20 years and is on prednisone. When his knee flared up, I suggested the old rest, ice, compression (light Ace bandage). He said no way to anything other than putting a small pillow under his knee when he naps on the sofa.
He did rub some CBD cream on it - but I'm not sure if it helped or not. Other than a vitamin D3, he refuses to take any other supplements, rarely eats green vegetables, his favorite food is hot dogs which is what he prefers for lunch every single day and dinner if he doesn't like what I fix. He says it's something he can digest well. Ho hum, lol.
I get aggravated sometimes that his eating habits leave a lot to be desired, but overall admire his pain tolerance and stubborn spirit as he soldiers on. Former Marine and all that I think.
Heather - good luck on the house hunt! Can't wait to see what you find!
Rye and Karen in VA - thanks for sharing about your moms. While the end of my mom's life (dementia) wasn't what we kids would have wished for her, she was pleasant and gracious with her caregivers. I still ponder how her personality would change when my dad was around - he wasn't abusive, just very controlling.
On that note, time to take the puppy out so she can get covered with snowballs! Make it a great day, ladies!

Allie - I have a good response for you when Tom asks you what you want. Just tell him to write down whatever he is thinking that he wants then just give that to you and you would be satisfied!
I got an email invitation to teach in China for a year. Apartment and board paid. My husband was all for it. I on the other hand am leery of traveling and teaching abroad. I do know other teachers that have gone that route for their whole career. They really loved it. I guess I couldn't sleep last night and went on line and put my application in to a few different schools in the area. Not sure what I'm thinking! Somebody knock some sense into me! Or maybe Pip can get her boot out!

KarenVA ... my OS decided he wanted to try Ethiopian cuisine and had his aide find a recipe on the internet for Ethiopian Chicken Stew. Let's just say that it was not a success ... which we anticipated when the aide said "I didn't follow the instructions because it would have taken too long." SMH.
Barbie ... I always view your activities as someone who knows the value of contentment.
Jean ... I am no stranger to stress! Making sound health decisions is something I yo-yo with having lost over 70 pounds here (and I needed to lose more like 100), then gaining back 30 and now looking to finally get rid of my baggage once and for all. Because I'm worth it. For years I have cared for others and that isn't going to change anytime soon. It's way past time for me to care for myself as well. I didn't choose the turmoil that swirls around me, but I can choose how I treat myself. And for nighttime sugar cravings ... Kelly recommends Egyptian Licorice Tea ... and I can vouch it helps! I don't usually care for licorice, but this is good and naturally tastes sweet with no sugar!
JanetR... I really like the egg! The rosebuds are such a sweet addition.
Lisa and Heather .. I'm hoping that your real estate luck rubs off on me as we're apartment hunting for my son and one of his current housemates. Needs to be wheelchair accessible and have potential for wheelchair shower. Wish me luck!
Dana ... wonderful photo of your daughter and your grands! I love photos that depict such joy!
DrKatieBug ... for pete's sake ... lose the diet soda for good! I used to drink it by the case, but gave it up during my first big weight loss ... haven't missed it since.
Beth near Buffalo where it is lightly snowing again!5 -
Karen in VA. I can't take credit for the name of the store. This is the name the store has operated under for a few years. The closed at the end of 2017 to remodel and to set up for individual crafter areas to be rented out. Keeping my fingers crossed that all works out.

We are in the midst of a nasty ice storm, glad to be retired on days like this. It's supposed to warm up to 45 by 4:00 pm so hopefully it will melt ice off the main streets. Jack-knifed trucks, over turned fire truck and accidents every where. It's a mess out there.
I'll just stay inside and do my workout and start on my next egg. I found several eggs that I'm excited to try.

Back again
I fed DFIL and then walked Homer and Chester, and now back home, doing a load of laundry and then will take a shower and get ready for lawyer..
I am hoping she can shed some light...
Mary~ Love that answer might just use it..7 -
Janet, I have ten or eleven extra of these little clear plastic things that this baseball is sitting on. They came in a set, and I only needed one. I’ll be glad to mail them to you if you think it is something you would use. Just PM me your address. If it’s not what you’re looking for, then no worries..

Sunkist - those oil charts are interesting and I saved them. My BFF sells oils and I have a bunch but needed a quick reference. Also, regarding your retirement - would it be possible for you to keep volunteering as a police/community liaison if you wished to? That is, of course, if you are leaving on what you feel are good terms (chief and staff you liked and respected.)
Lanette
SW WA State[/quote]
I am glad that you saved the charts! I am amazed every time I try the oils for something new...like that stubborn cough I had with that latest cold (Thyme and Marjoram applied to the outside of the throat with some Fractionated Coconut oil....stops the cough in minutes!!!)
When I leave the police world, I will leave the police world. I am with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and we need some serious overhauling to make it a better community. I am more than okay to be leaving. I am not going to take up a second career in any form of police, legal, or investigations! I AM HAPPILY DONE! :-) I know too many people that shrivel up and literally die after retirement, they had no life outside of the RCMP community. I have a life that is getting compromised from my time at work!!! WHICH IS AWESOME!
More time for my DoTerra business and more time for fitness!

Another fan of Egyptian licorice tea here! It is so sweet I have double checked on many occasions to confirm there is no sugar or sweetner in it! One has to like licorice (which most people I know don’t) but it is naturally a wonderful sweet satisfaction.
NYKAREN Naples is my least favourite Italian city (translation I really like it, lol) but Pompei! And Herculaneum too!! Hope you are having a ball!
Heather So happy about the house! I dread the inevitable day we have to try to sell our place and have been sending good wishes your way!
Karen in Virginia I’m with you - Mom was no saint! But I was undeniably and undeservedly lucky I have had her. Truly I miss even all mom’s faults a whole lot! She was so sarcastic and obsessively private, and a master at passive aggressive manipulation. But I’d give so much to have her with me for a while, even if she was in a mood. But she had a rocky relationship with all the children except me. She and I were always on the same wave length tho. Well almost always. We had some rocky times while I was a pre-teen but we got through it.
Honestly I think I’m like a muted version of her, or perhaps a version of her with some of the rough edges softened sounds better. She was a pistol! Or as Texans would say ‘she was a hoot!’ And she was my best friend.
One of my favourite pictures: Mom at around my age.
Oh Lanette your DH sounds so much like mine. It is like they want to suffer rather than take some small steps that would change things. Ach - some days I just wash my hands of it, shake my head and swear very loudly inside of my head
I’ve been thinking of Machka’s cuisine question and I still don’t have an answer. My favourite meals consist of a minimally seasoned medium-rare beef and potato. I’d guess that is ‘American’? Otherwise it seems to change a lot. I love most flavour spice profiles excepting Chinese (as found in American Chinese restaurants - when I lived in London I often ate Chinese and thought it very different flavour profile from what I got in U.S.). I don’t eat fish or seafood, but that usually doesn’t rule out a cuisine, only some restaurants (I.e. I can not always find something in a Sushi restaurant but I love Japanese food). My egg allergy limits what I can eat as well - but again I don’t think it rules out any cuisine totally. Specific foods I will not eat, but cuisines? I generally like ‘em all!

Just got a call from Best Buy they don’t know exactly where our fridge is and won’t deliver it today, looking at delivery next week. ?!?! Going now to see if raising hell will help.
Rye who is not looking forward to going to the garage for any and all refrigerator foods for the foreseeable future7 -
Long day yesterday. No exercise or walking and bad food day, but it is over. Today will be better!
DH surgery went well. He is home in good spirits, and minor pain. Doc said hernia was worse than he first thought so surgery took a lot longer. On top of that surgery had been delayed over 2.5 hours bc of problem surgery at the main hospital doc did.
Now I find out my youngest brother (52 yo) has to have open heart surgery to repair a bad heart valve. He is at pre-op today. DSIL and he don’t want anyone else to know. Especially my 82 yo mom.
Sigh.... on to the next adventure.

Heather ~ Congrats on the upcoming sale and good luck in finding the right home in Hove.
Cherie ~ Beautiful contributions. You are very talented.
Janet ~ Every creation becomes more beautiful.
Michele ~ I am confused about your New Comers group. How many folks are in it? How long do you become a New Comer?
Rye ~ I’m glad that you and your husband have been able to help your dad out. My brother and I did that for years to add to her SS.

Happy National Margarita Day!
In honor of the unofficial state cocktail of Texas:
SKINNY MARGARITAS (Cookie and Kate, https://cookieandkate.com/2012/fresh-margaritas/)
2 ounces (1/4 cup) silver tequila
1-1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons/about 1-1/2 small limes) fresh lime juice
1 ounce (2 tablespoons/about 1/2 of a medium orange) fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon light agave nectar
Kosher salt or coarsely ground sea salt for the glass rim (optional)
1 lime wedge or round, for garnish (optional)
Heather - Crossing my fingers for everything to work out with your buyer!
Cheri - Your blankets look so cozy - you're going to make some kids very happy.
Janet - Today's egg looks just like spring. So pretty!
Michele - I'm so proud of myself... I bought five boxes of Girl Scout cookies - including some samoas and peanut butter patties which are my favorates - for Philip. They're almost all gone and I did not eat a single one!
Joyce - My friend with Parkinson's swears by the computer game Rock Band. He usually takes the drums, and the drumming has improved his strength and coordination so much he's been talking about starting a subforum on Reddit Rock Band and Parkinson's to share with other patients!
Rye - I still miss my mom too, after 13 years. I'm starting to realize I'll never stop missing her. Losing Dad kind of opened it all up again. Now that they're both gone, I guess my siblings and I are the "grown-ups."
Sunkist - We have a friend who recently retired from the police department. He's spend his whole career with the department, so he's in his early 50s. I envy his retirement at such a young age, but after a difficult and dangerous career I certainly don't begrudge it.
Rita - Sending my best wishes for a swift recovery to your husband and brother. I'm glad your husband's surgery went well.
Barbie - Bernie looks a lot like Phineas. Very handsome!
Aaiiiieeee... my brother will be here tomorrow with Dad's Thermarest mattress and china cabinet. The house is a wreck, with unfinished projects and boxes from Dad's place everywhere. But I will not panic.... Tonight I'll do the minimum necessary to make space for the new items, and tomorrow I'm going to leave the men to unloading while I finall run those danged errands with the estate paperwork. And I'm going to enough space somewhere to set up my spare crates for those two Brittany spaniels, because I don't think my cats deserve to be locked up just because my brother won't make his dogs behave.
Time to work now. Everybody be good!

Do you mean to tell me that there were no kitty treats in the ENTIRE refrigerator? What sort of Kitty Spa do you think you are running here? This is Not a Kitty Spa, you say?
Well I’m positive I paw checked the Kitty Spa option before I was born, so please go check with management after you bring me some treats.
Rye in a refrigeratorless house in TX6 -
I am still reading. Now on pg 68. Day off but tons to do and I have been procrastinating. Off to eat the breakfast that I should have had 4 hours ago.0

Carol in GA - you are such a sweet heart. Right now I'm sitting here waiting for my girls to respond to an email I sent to them with pictures of three eggs asking which one I should try next. I cannot decide which one to try. lol
Thank you so much.
