Thanks for the welcome! @angelacatheart I didn't even think about a lower calorie option. I just thought I need to write it off for a while. Thinking of other alternatives such as some homemade energy bites, dark chocolate, etc.

That's a shame. I don't do a lot of my grocery shopping there as it's not a one stop shop, I love a few of their items. Especially their stir fried cauliflower rice and the authentic Greek tyropita (they call it 5-cheese spiral). I just can't stand the lines. I walked in the door the other week to buy some cauliflower rice and immediately turned around and left because the line was wrapped around the store.0 -

Holy cow, I just glanced at the name of this thread "Women in their 40's" and thought it sounded like old people, till it hit me a second later, THAT'S ME!!! I was in my 20's the other day and now I'm in my 40's!! Ugh!!
Anywho, I'm 41 and have about 15 lbs to lose. I've been up and down most of my life, but it seems I've been fluffy more than not. I don't know that I actually care too much about the number (no one actually sees our number amyway), I care more about how I feel in my body, in my clothes and in general.
I have been Paleo for a few years now and lost 4 sizes (40 lbs) in the last 2 years, but have been stuck for the past few months at exactly the same weight and size. This time around I have lost weight slower and I don't beat myself up for having a bad meal or a slip (my body does that for me!). I want eating healthy to be habit, not flailing will power.
Feel free to add me! I love seeing people succeed, especially other women. I know if you can do it, I can do it! And if I can do it, you can do it!!4 -

Hi... I'm 46... I have lost some weight already and am about halfway through my weight loss journey. I was anorexic in my late teens & am now at the other end of the scale. My mind feels like it is in a constant battle to find a balance.5

Please add me. I'm 49 and have been a member not too long. So far its going well! I need to loose about 50lbs and it's so much slower than when I was in my 20s/30s! Accountability will be so helpful. Thanks!3

Re: Trader Joe’s—I love that store! They have many delicious vegetarian options. Some of their snacks are dangerously high in calories but they have many really healthy options too. Their less guilt Mac and cheese is a great meal at the end of a long work day before rushing to get your kid to Swimming lessons all for less than 300 calories type of meal.
Re: cookies. I love baking, chocolate, and wine. I save calories for wine and chocolate/baked goods weekly. I have to freeze if I bake too much otherwise I’d eat too much of it!
Re: age. 40 is kinda surreal still! And it feels stable and good! I had a few dates recently. I liked one but not the other. One liked me but not the one I wanted. It felt so good to not blame my weight! I have the best son possible, a great job, and amazing friends! I’m also so much more fit, emotionally stable, and financially stable than I was at 30.3 -
@NicholeAckerman I love working out with kettle bells! Once you understand how to use them with good form, they are so beneficial! Just dont start too heavy. That'll kill form. Kettlebell swings are probably my standby favorite exercise, crazy good full body workout and killer cardio, but i also love them for most anything I'd use dumbells or a bar for... chest press, weighted squats and lunges, shoulder presses, sumo high pulls...
@Sunshine6909 i have a long history of eating disorder. It definitely complicates weight loss and adds a lot of stress to dieting. So, an extra big YAY!!! to you for the weigh loss so far!! Keep it up, stay healthy, and lean on others for support anytime you need to!4 -

The only motivation I get for Thursdays is that its Girl Scout night! How can 6 8-9 yrs olds not make you happy!! They have such positive energy! *I have two teenagers...so I look forward to seeing my Brownies every week to break the monotony of Teen Angst*

Add me! Turning 41 is May.. I’ve been try to list 10 to 15 lbs for what seems like forever. Have joined a gym and work with a trainer 2 days a week weight training. Have def gained some muscle mass over the last 5 months but need to lose the fat too! Feel like age and hormones (plus the wine I drink) are all working against me. Having surgery end of May and was hoping to be at my goal before then as I will be away from the gym for a min of 8 weeks but not sure that is going to happen.... 13 lbs to go and a vacation coming up next week.. yikes!4

There is a quote by Mary Kay that I've always based my life goals on. "You can do anything you want in this world, if you want it badly enough and are willing to pay the price."
I firmly believe this. I don't believe in excuses. When people say the "can't" do something, what they are really saying is "I don't want it badly enough to pay the price...to make the sacrifices, to do the work."
It changes your whole outlook on life and takes away the martyr mentality. So if someone says, I don't have time to exercise, I work full time and have a 2 hour commute and 3 small children...flip it to be "I'm not willing to change jobs or sacrifice my sleep or time with my children to exercise. It's not that important to me." If someone says "I can't lose weight.", that becomes "I'm unwilling to make the effort to count calories and sacrifice some of the foods I really enjoy or make separate dinners for myself and my family or eat less than I'm used to."
Life is all about balance. Finding out what is important to you and what sacrifices you are willing to make to achieve your goals. For me, I would love to stay ultra-leanlike I used to be in my youth. However, I'm not willing to give up chocolate and chips in the quantities I enjoy or sacrifice family time to exercise more to stay that lean. So I'm happy being fairly lean and eating what I want in moderation and exercising 3-4 times as week.
What are your goals and what are you willing to do to achieve them?6 -

I'm always searching for new recipes to try, and thanks to @melissa6771 I never knew there was such a thing as 2 ingredient bagels (seriously can't wait to try them, as I've not touched bread all week...and that's huge for me!). Can anyone explain weight watchers points? I see a lot of recipes with points, but how do they convert to calories? Just curious. Lower the points, lower the calories? I could input all the recipes into mfp, but was hoping to make it a bit easier0

Some advice please ladies. So I started back in the gym this week after a very long break - I'm far from fit! When should I be introducing resistance training? Start now, light or build on my cardio first? Also, I'm looking for high protein low calorie simple snack ideas (feed up with bars already) and what about protein powders? I know you guys have mentioned snacks before but as I live in the U.K. it can't be store specific. Simple being the operative word as I'm rubbish in the kitchen.

@neepex27 I always list the calories and nutrtion info when I post food. The bagels are 163 calories 11 protein. I can get you more info or post a pic if of the nutrtion info you want. I thought I already did. Forget the points. Who cares. They're crap!
@tinaka2016 start weight training now! Preserve as much lean mass as you can. It's more important than cardio in the long run, for the most part. Try to weight train at least 2-3 times a week, anything after that do your cardio,3 -

I think you have to choose one "plan" or the other. Trying to do both WW and calorie counting would probably prove difficult.
I have a friend who is doing the WW Freestyle program and she's losing weight. However, I don't feel she's doing it in a healthy way. She eats a TON of fruit each day, eats no starch/carbs, and doesn't eat much protein. But she says that it's OK, because the fruit is "free," and everything fits into her points for the day. I'm sure if I logged in that much fruit, and that little protein/startch/carbs here on this site, I'd be way over on sugar for the day, and way under on protein and carbs. That's not balanced eating. And when (not if) she ever goes back to eating "normally," she'll probably gain it all back. Which is exactly what happened with me the THREE times I did WW, lost all the weight, and gained it ALL back. I wasn't eating the right way! MFP teaches you to eat the right amounts of the right types of food. No type of food is completely off limits (like starch/carbs) and that you can almost always have what you want, so long as it's in moderation.
Don't worry about those points. Take the time to input the recipes into MFP that you think you might like, so that you can find the calories using your particular brands of ingredients - it's totally worth it. (And, by the way, the 2 ingredient (equal parts non-fat greek yogurt and self-rising flour) dough is FANTASTIC for pizza and breadsticks and is well worth making!)

I typed this out once and It didn't post. This is my absolute favorite way of cooking green beans. I'm not even a big vegetable eater but I eat these like candy. Drop 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pounds of green beans into boiling water, Cook for three minutes and then drain. While the beans are boiling put one and a half tablespoons of Olive oil in a big pan with a one and a half cloves of minced garlic, sauté on low to medium heat for a few minutes, add in drained beans, cook approximately 20 minutes until crisp tender and the garlic is a little caramelized. Halfway through sautéing sprinkle with kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper. Yummy...

Will be 42 in July. And a strong desire to lose 85-90lbs
I could use friends to support the long journey I have ahead of me. This my I don't know 100th time fresh start on MFP. And right now I have no motivation to exercise.

Good morning from NZ. I'm feeling a bit happier today. It's my 2nd day that I have pre logged my food the night before. I feel so much less pressure. I pre log when I'm in the mood, nice & relaxed. The next day I don't have the panic about what to eat or how much to eat, will I have enough cals/kjs left if I'm hungry at the end of the day because I've already worked it out & I can just get on with my day!5
