Ha! Poor kid, but at least you got it to show him
Boo. It isn't compatible with the Fenix 3 either!
From what I can tell by skimming the forums The only reason it is on the Fenix 5 is cause someone wrote to him and asked for it. Maybe you can do the same with the Fenix 3?0 -
RespectTheKitty wrote: »So I did some online shoe shopping today. I found some sites that still carried the v6, but none of them had my size (10.5). Booooo.
Not sure what to do next. I figure I'd look for a different brand of shoe with the same drop (8mm). The v8 is now out, so I could try that and see if it works. Or I could go completely different and try the Brooks Levitate. Has anyone used this brand? I'm curious if they'd work for me and not give me the IT band-related hip pain I had with the v7s.
One plus of the v8s and the Levitate is that they both come in black. (You can't tell this by my profile pic, but I pretty much wear nothing but black and gray LOL.)
My wife has Brooks... I think Ghost, but they are pink! She not a black and grey person. She likes them a lot.0 -

My goal for March will be 150km again. In February I fell a little short (142.5km), but March is longer
And I already got quite a few kilometres in. All of them incredibly slow! Thanks to the huge amount (by my standards) of snow we've had the last couple of days.
When I woke up on Thursday, they already said on the radio that the airport was closed and half the public transport was stopped. My poor car was hood-deep in snow, and I didn't feel like digging it out, so I decided to run to work and back. I should have done a 6km tempo run that day, instead I ended up with 2x5km easy.
Some of the snow melted on Friday afternoon, but I woke up to fresh snow again today. I thought about cutting my planned run short, but I already couldn't do my long run as planned last week (thanks to work). I also thought about playing it safe and running loops close to home; but one think I like about long runs is that it gives me the opportunity to run to places that are too far to reach during weekday runs. In the end I mapped out a 21km route rather than the 25.5km on my training plan, with the option to add on a bit extra in the end.
During the first hour I ran it was still snowing, then it was raining, and in the end the sun came out
I ran through the city down to the river Rhône, a bit along the riverbank, through some fields an forest and back through the suburbs. Stopped for 10 minutes at home to drop of my hydration belt, change into dry socks and shoes, and added on some more distance to finish with 27.5km. It took me about 4 hours for that distance!
The snow is really pretty, but it doesn't allow for fast running. And I had forgotten how many stairs are along the river path; those were so icy it took me forever to go up and down. No new Strava PRs on those segments for me

3 March - 4 miles
Goal: 25 miles6 -
@JillEReilly89 I hadn't heard about Aaptiv before. Looks interesting. Although I already have "Zombies run" for running, and use Fitnessblender (website, not app) for other workouts, so I don't really need anything else.
@kat_ontherun What do you use on your phone for tracking your runs? And have you checked that you don't have any power saving options switched on? I did that by accident once or twice, if my phone is in "energy saving mode", Strava only records the track while I have the app open and display switched on, otherwise the GPS is turned off.
@RespectTheKitty Sounds like you had a perfect run. Awesome!
I never tried any of the shoes you are talking about, so I have no advice, but I hope for you you'll find nice shoes to replace your v6.
@kaspan 30min without waking is brilliant, great job!!
@katharmonic Looks like we have similar weather ❄❄
@rheddmobile That is a LOT of water! Looks like you could go swimming rather than running The jumping fish sounds cool, whatever it was. I'm glad you had a nice run despite the cancelled race.
@hjeppley Great 10k, congratulations to both you and your son!2 -
I'm in for 45 miles again this month, with three races on my schedule, and I'm already off to a great start!
Ran my first nonstop 5K today at Rock'n'Roll NOLA! (Although I did take a few strides to drink, rather than douse, my cup of Gatorade at the halfway point aid station. Really need to work on that pinch-and-pour technique.) AND I set a new PR for average pace in a 5K, at 12:47 min/mile. I didn't PR on overall time, though, because of all the dodging and weaving around other runners/walkers and missing a couple opportunities for better tangents. Plus I snaked over for some high fives from the hubby and kiddo at one point. GPS pegged my run at 3.38M, so there's definitely room for improvement on finding my lane. But still. I'm pretty darn pleased!
I knew it was going to be a great day when I arrived to find a jazz band playing at one end of Lafayette Square and Rolling Stones' "Miss You" (one of my all-time faves) blaring from speakers at the other end.
The weather was perfect: 57F, sunny, with 12mph winds. The route was beautiful: starting at Lafayette Square, crossing Canal and looping through the French Quarter (including in front of iconic Jackson Square), and back. And although the back half was tougher than I would've liked, I am so stoked that I finished without walk breaks and in such good time!
Between the delayed start before crossing the timing mat and my forgetting to stop the app when I crossed the finish line, my Runtastic stats were off a bit. Official time was 43:13.
We took the kiddo to the Audubon Aquarium and IMAX (his first 3D movie) afterward and had a blast. My third race this month, an 8K on 3/18, will be Uptown (from the WWII Museum to Audubon Park), so I'm betting another zoo trip is in our future too.
In the meantime, I'll return to the site of my first ever 5K next weekend. Goal will be to improve on tangents and overall time.

Absolutely!
And thank you.0 -
After I dropped my son off at soccer practice, Kody & I ran 6 miles. I had planned to get 15 in today but between a bathroom remodel, getting my son to practice, and sleeping in, I didn't manage my time well. I switched my run with Sunday so will get a 15 mile in tomorrow. No ITB pain today, so it looks like I'm back to making progress again.
March Total - 15 miles
I wore some new shoes today. A pair of ugly Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit 2017 I bought at the Nike factory store on clearance for $51 on the way home from my race last weekend. Though they're sold as shoes, they're better described as slippers with an outsole. VERY comfortable, lightweight, and only a 4mm drop. I may see if the local Nike store carries these and buy a couple more pair. Since my normal road shoes are 10 mm drop I'll limit these shoes to shorter runs for a while.
What's with Nike's shoe model names? I struggled to remember the model name.
I don't know if I'm supposed to wear socks with these or not. Next time I'll try it without.

I haven’t been going very long with my long runs in the past few weeks due to a 10K and some work travel, so I was hoping to do 7 mi today. But my run got delayed (I went to get a new iPhone!), and I didn’t eat enough last night or earlier in the day, so I kind of bonked at 6 mi. Oops! Good lesson learned. And it was sunny, and there were flowers out. My post run mile steep uphill walk from the bike path was not too fun though!

12 km Westbrook Hill and Shaftsbury Trail ( Hwy 684 ).
Started in 4cm of fresh snow and it was still snowing as I finished, so probably 8-10cm by then.
There was one set of tracks in the snow from another runner. Because the snow was filling in tracks they couldn't have been very far in front of me even though I never could see them. The reason I say that is when I turned at 6km to head back by the time I got to km 7 you couldn't see my outbound tracks. Which means in just over 12 minutes ( 6mins out, 6 mins return ) they were covered by the new snow. Even though the wind was blowing it was about -7C so rather mild for us. Only felt the wind in the last 2 km, right when I hit the Hill for the final climb out of the valley. That part of the run was a little sucky between the snow and wind but everything was actually feeling better than I expected. One of those days where everything came together some how and was gooooood. The right shoes for the fresh snow with icy patch's hiding under it, The right clothes, gloves and head gear for the weather.
03/01 0.0 km – 0.0km – 140.0 km – YTD 128.32km
03/03 12.0 km – 12.km – 128.0 km – YTD 140.32 km Westbrook & 684
With Jan and Feb being bad months I am about 140km behind my projected YTD distance. Should be close to 280km all ready. Will be hard to make up with out risking injury so probably wise to adjust my projected TYrKm down.
To all those getting hit with the heavy march snow Be Wise,Be Safe as this can create some of the most dangerous conditions for the whole year, Flash Floods, Avalanches, treacherous Roads and trails.8 -
March 2018 runs:
01 Mar – 5.6 km strides & intervals
03 Mar – 5 km parkrun 28:30
04 Mar – 21.2 km
Total: 31.8 km
Goal 1: 180 km
Goal 2: Do more cartwheels.
Slow HM this morning. Did 12 km on my own and then met up with the running club and did 8 km, then made it up to a half marathon. I got to run with my friend Narelle, and we had an awesome chat. Fairly hilly, so I didn't go further today. Happy with what I did.
This was one of my most enjoyable HMs. Loved being on my own for a while in the quiet dark, and then loved having company when the sun came up. Plus, it was a beautiful, cool morning. Bliss.12 -
