Good Morning!
Thank you for the compliments. I really love the way the floor turned out.
Okie- I have a German Shepherd and a Pyrenees. My DH had carpet in the kitchen when I moved in. We replaced it twice in 10 years. The last carpet met its demise when the Pyrenees ate a hole in it after I spilled bacon grease-oops. Because of the dogs, we didn't want wood. Dogs equal scratches and water. We found this luxury vinyl planking and it has been installed in our kitchen for 9-10 years. No it isn't as soft as the carpet, but is so easy to clean. Even with dogs, grand kids, water, and spills, it looks as good today as it did then. I just mop with water and a microfiber occasionally and sweep or vacuum when looks crumby. My bathroom is heated tile flooring. It too was carpet. We need to replace the carpet in the house, but at this point, will have to wait. I love carpet in the bedrooms. The living room, dining room and hallways are still up for debate. Carpet is warmer and easier on the legs, but harder to keep clean. I will also say that the newer carpets don't hold up like the old ones. The carpet in said dining room, hallway and living room are over 30 years old. Yes, they are starting to show wear, but the carpet in our bedroom is only about 12 years old and is awful! Good luck on your decision making ahead.
Lisa in El Paso (temporarily) Glad you got some rest and are safely at your destination. Take care of those knees!
Laundry still going, but at least I have clean work clothes today Work which I did not do over the weekend. Then AHHHH massage tonight. Better get that water in today as well. Have been lax on that for 3 days. SMH
Prayers continuing for those in need of strength and healing. Congratulations to those making strides in their health. Welcome to the new ladies! Sometimes something strikes you as needing an immediate reply, other times it can be overwhelming. Just check in and share! We are a talkative group and offer lots of support, hugs, and cheers!

We are a chatty group, feel free to be thorough or just skim and chime in when you see something you can relate to or perhaps have advice to share.
Kylia- I LOVE the flooring! We have vinyl plank flooring in two of our bedrooms. I installed it and it does go in very easily. I wore my gardening knee pads through the whole installation process.
Allie-Sending good thoughts your way, today! Much love, friend!
Lisa- Sorry to hear about your knee. I wonder if flying made it swell a bit? Hope your meeting goes well!
Pip- I love all of your dogs; but Yogi seems to be such a hambone! He is always looking right into the camera, like he is posing!
I was talking to DH last night about the interviews he has this week. He is worried if he gets the third shift job; that when DYS moves out (most likely in the next year) that I will be all alone at night. I told him we could get a dog. And he said, "I would want it to be a big dog, so it can protect you!" (Aaawwww! So sweet!) But Whoot! A dog!!! I have been dying for a malamute for YEARS; but because of my daycare, I would want to build an outdoor enclosure for it, so that I don't have to shut it up in a room in the house for 8-10 hours a day. I couldn't do that to a dog. SO...we spent some time looking at puppies online from breeders across the state, then checking pricing for a dog run/enclosure. I had a malamute mix, growing up; so I was able to warn my DH about the digging and the fence climbing (they tend to be escape artists). I am trying to contain myself. I am sure, if he doesn't get a third shift job, he will say we don't need the dog. IF he doesn't find employment we won't be able to afford a dog. BUT...the fact that he would be willing to get one, will be making me push for one as soon as he is working again. A dog, a dog, a dog! I'm getting a dog! Might be a year...but it's coming!
Well, I am off. As soon as I get some photos of the kids in the sand, I will post some photos. AFter I got the kitchen beach built and filled yesterday, I jumped in the shower. While in there, I crunched down on some gritty sand that had some how made it into my mouth. Yuck. Sand is a pain in the a*s, but when your town is basically built on sand dunes, it tends to become a way of life. It is everywhere, all of the time. Even in the winter, sand is always mixed in with the snow/mud that comes in on the boots. Like Christmas tree pine needles, that appear when you are cleaning in July??!! What?! Where did that come from??!! ttfn xoxoxoxo KJ (Kelly)12 -

MACHKA Thinking of you All good thoughts for your DH & yourself. Our family has just been thru ( still is) something similar.Dd’s husband (50 some) had just gone thru chemo for cancer.Seemed to be doing well,Drs were pleased with his progress. He had a seizure at home, emerg squad took him to the hospital..........he could barely stand, walk or talk.Lots & lots of tests.....none showing a cause. His walking, talking seemed to come back on it’s own.Wasn’t a stroke ....
After 3 wks,he moved to the best rehab/ therapy hospital DD could find & insur approved for 20 days.A team of 5 ,all specialists in diff types of PT are in charge & spent 6 hrs a day with him in special areas. This hosp works with auto accident, stroke, brain damaged & all needing intensive PT. He was tired, but improving by the day.Lost wt,as he had no interest in food.Therapist took care of that, explaining how he needed 3 meals & 2 snacks to be strong enough for intensive therapy.....or the longer he would be there.Bless his heart,he was a bit wobbly, but walked as long as someone held his hand.Very tired from the PT.
He went home after 6 wks total & the PT continues there for 2 wks. Both are So happy ....He loves his home & it has been a long process for DD.Scared, not knowing, driving most every day 40 mins each way to be with him, this while working 2 jobs. Her response to anyone saying she needed to cut back was “he would do the same for me”.He is talking, walking .....his report expects “full recovery”.Both work for diff school districts & jobs are safe.
Prayers for your DH & you.We are so thankful for our family & hoping the same for you.
Sorry this is a book. Pat in Ohio12 -

Good morning from the pollen covered piney woods of east Texas. My name is Grace, age 57 and desperate to get back on a plan and start making progress again.
I posted on here probably a year or so ago for a little while. I've been trying to go it alone and that's just not working for me. I recently abandoned the social media thing and do not regret that decision but do miss my support group.
I'm married and we celebrated 39 years of wedded life over the weekend. We have one son, and two daughters and four amazing grandchildren. I am active in my church. I love to cook and enjoy crocheting, sewing, quilting and have dreams about writing a best selling cookbook. Lol
Y'all have a great day.

Okie, you told the story of my reluctance to get new floor coverings. Jake thinks I don't want to spend the money, but the truth is that I am boggled by all the choices and having to compromise with someone else and terrified at the prospect of moving furniture to deal with the change. So, instead we do nothing.
Allie, I'm sending you good thoughts today. You can do this and you'll be so much better off when the ordeal is over.
Kelly, A dog. What a happy thought.
Heather, Yes, discipline is my freedom. Also, I had trouble with alcohol in my 20's and made the decision to be alcohol free and my life is better for it.

Barbie
Barbie - that sums it up at our house too. I refused to think about replacing our carpeting for the longest time - now, the allergies have turned up the heat on this issue, at least for replacing the living room carpeting. What to get - vinyl plank? Vinyl tile? Bookcases, heavy furniture, moving a cast iron woodstove.... we can't do this ourselves so will have to hire someone to help with all that. BUT that is on the list for this summer.
Our master bedroom shower needs to be replaced - the fiberglass seat has cracked. Again, just don't want to deal with upheaval and can't afford to replace everything in that room. Ugh. When we get ready to sell, I think we'll get this place as clean as we can and put in the listing "fixer upper" and adjust the price accordingly.
Kylia - great job on your floors! Our 83 year old neighbor laid the vinyl flooring in her rental house by herself! If the rooms were bare, and I could take my time, I would tackle it provided the subfloor was sufficient.
In the meantime, I will enjoy the fruits of other's labor, lol.

Heather: I am delighted with your post today because you seem centered, focused and happy.
Allie: I hope things will be finalized and settled in court today, and that you will be fairly treated. (((HUGS)))
Grace in TX: Welcome back! :flowerforyou:
Yesterday was an adventure. I planned to go out to the stable and work with Arrow. When I got there, NOBODY was there, and even the farm vehicles were not in evidence. I make it a point not to work with Arrow unless there is someone else around so I went home. I intended to get DH and go back out to the stable, but it was one thing after another for the rest of the day. A toilet on the ground floor began leaking and we need to get it repaired or replaced. Then we were cooking and set our smoke detector off. I'm hoping for a less eventful day today.

Kylia ~ I think your floors look just like the ones my son is having put in his house. They have redone two bathrooms, put in a new ac/hc unit, and will get marble counter tops once the floors have been put in. Then the DnL is painting everthing from the standard mustard gold that came with the house to light gray.
Barbie ~ It only took 2 days to have our floors replaced and they moved the furniture so we didn't have to hassle with it. The things that were the worst was having to remove the asbestos flooring in the kitchen and getting the other floors dried out from the massive refrigerator leak.
Lanette ~ I would love to have my bathrooms remodeled; but, like Barbie, I wouldn't know where to start. I would also like to get new windows (all mine were painted shut and can't be raised) and I would love to have my kitchen cabinets refinished. All will happen in time. Right now, we need to get a new fence across the back yard due to all the constructions from 60 new houses being built down the road from us.
Machka ~ Still thinking of you and your husband.
Cold damp day here!

Hey ladies...as we get closer to tax filing, consider this:
Katla - sorry to hear about that toilet leaking! And smoke detectors! AARRGH and not even a full moon. Looks like home improvement and maintenance will be the topic on this thread in the upcoming weeks, lol.
Carol - what did you put down in your kitchen - was it tile? I can't remember, but do recall it was quite a project. Bet it looks great!
Allie - wishing you the best and hope things get wrapped up once and for all!!
Heading out in a few to do Monday shopping.

Sunday was a lesson is the exercise of patience in the face of frustration. We worked in the BB42 project and my poor husband. This project will benefit him only indirectly by helping me - but it is quite the chore working towards an uncertain goal, only the potential of a goal. CAN’T has been of the utmost importance. When I say I CAN’T we immediately stop. Then we try to talk out a different approach.
Although he understands and indeed we made more progress than if he had pushed the ‘sure you can, just concentrate and practice’ kitten crap - it is still very difficult for him. His head understands but when I say ‘nope, that is not going work for me’ or ‘I CANT do that’ or ‘no, I don’t understand and keep getting directionally lost in my head when we do it your way’ it gives him major frustration in the moment.
Maybe our biggest progress, though, was just allowing me to ‘NOT’ get it or understand. By the end of the day I was as directionally lost and challenged as I was when we started - BUT we had written out a list of directions and instructions I could follow, and hopefully will memorize to overcome THAT limitation.
The best example I can give is like tying your shoes. Embarrassing, but I will admit it: I can’t actually tie my shoes, at least not like everyone else and how children are taught. I get left and right, over and under, front and back, and side to side all confused in my head and I get lost. We tried the ‘just practice’ route last year When my appalled husband found out I did not know how to tie a bow or shoes. We practiced every day for about a month. Nine times out of 10 I would get lost and be unable to tie my shoe. Really the successes were flukes. So I wear slip ons and ‘fake’ tie my few laced shoes. (And y’all and my husband are the only ones to whom I’ve admitted I can’t tie a shoe knot and never ever could do so without help.)
So mixed weekend. Saturday was great, Sunday quite frustrating.
Hula Hoop is continuing - Not sure what to do after my Month challenge cause just standing in place and hooping isn’t even raising my heart rate anymore, it is just too easy. But we have a total of about 2 square feet in my home where it is safe to hoop, so I can’t learn walking or tricks with the hoop, our home is just too small.
Poor Kidd Kirby has a bad tooth on top of all his other health problems. I’m going to see if we can make arrangements to take care of that next week. I wish it could be sooner, but I have a very busy work week and need to see the ear Dr for an ear infection and don’t see how I could fit it in this week.
Thanks for the transportation suggestions last week, unfortunately Taxis in my town take an hour or two to come after you call (If they actually show), and don’t take appointments in advance. So I have to rely on DH, relatives and friends for the vet visits. I can walk to the ear Dr. it is about a 45 minute walk tho, so I need to block out 4 to 5 hours if I can’t arrange a ride but there is just no way to get to a vet without a car. Uber scares the living daylights out of me (never get into a car with a stranger) so I won’t be doing that.
Well, time to get a move on. Was lazy and making necessary calls this morning without leaving bed, lol.
Thinking about y’all - esp. Machka - and hoping everyone is happy and well.

Back from pg 84...
Karen in VA, a little micro tax action, eh? Federal and Idaho are done, not yet filed, what stopped me was an Oregon tax credit for our new wood stove... made a call, never heard back, blocked stuck and blocked. Will call again today, honest!
NYKaren, I'm she who is procrastinating on taxes and yes I'm grateful for the web based TurboTax, especially as it "remembers" from year to year and from session to session. Needed Karen in VA's micro nudge
Kate Hot cross buns, YUM.
Barbie our taxes are usually pretty simple, complicated this year by moving from one state to another and that pesky enviro credit. The wood stove vendor said just give the receipt to your accountant and he'll know how to calculate and what forms to file. When I told him "I'm the accountant" he just laughed...
Katla your advice to Heather " Perhaps you and DDIL can make a plan for dealing with the eventual release of the book that will be supportive and respectful of his feelings & hers." is spot on. Worst would be for son to find out accidentally. Knowing IS better. Heirloom sourdough starter from covered wagon/pioneer days? Wow!
KJ your MIL is so blessed to have you in her life. Agree no need to remind of the sad stuff, pain is only momentary for her, but entrenches for the reminder. Having a couple of interviews lined up must surely be a boost for your hubs. Hoping for the best possible result.
Heather can you call your DDIL and share your plans/concerns and ask her PROFESSIONAL advice? Agree with Katla, it could be devastating for his other brother to call and talk about it before he's heard.
Only up thru pg 85 but need to get ready, Joe's taking us to the beach!!!

Barbara good luck with the taxes!!!
I am starting a project in April called "one folder a week" in which I will pull a file folder out of my filing cabinet and shred any outdated materials and scan any really important ones. I will need a week because some of the folders are huge, though some are skinny, so I will have some difficult weeks and some easy weeks. By the of the year, I should have my filing cabinet in beautiful shape! Also, doing this at night, I won't be tempted to eat! So I will let you know how that works once I get started in April.

Happy Monday ladies,
Allie, I’m right with you today. I hope all is finalized today and you can have closure. So sorry about the teapot. I’ve broken things that have been around for a while and is makes me sick to my stomach when it happens.
Wendy, I love the pictures from your hike. Your smile says it all. Glad you have found a friend.
Kyla, floor looks nice. Take care of those knees. Our plan is to replace our bathroom floor with tiles this summer. We will have someone do it for us. Not sure what the cost will be yet but it is a small bathroom.
Barbie, glad to hear every day for you is special. It should be that was for all of us.
Heather, you are an inspiration. You have worked hard to get your life to this point. Enjoy!
Okie, well done helping your DH. I hope the scales start going the right way for him.
Lisa, every time I fly I’m exhausted. Glad you were able to rest up. Take care of the knee.
Juliebethgom, welcome!
Kelly, hope the job and dog work out. How exciting.
Pat, glad DD’s husband is on the mend and received good care.
Grace, welcome back!
Lanette, your 83 YO neighbor is an inspiration. Love the taxes joke.
Rye, you do have patience. I could hear your frustration. Good for you hanging in there.
NYKaren, your April project sounds like good plan. Taking small bites add up to big successes.

Carol - Have you tried to cut a small potato in 1/2 and shoving the cut end into the socket and turning it? We've done this before when we broke a lightbulb in a socket. It works pretty good.
Michele - Maybe because I had been taken to an OB/GYN after I bled like a stuck pig and when my sister and BnL saw me standing in a pool of it, he scooped me up and 'ran' 5 blocks back to the motel. I had to change clothes every hour or so; mother took me to an OB/GYN and I was 'mortified' by what he had to say. I got over that; but, the shame did not go away. When the psychologist made her remark to my Mother, I felt like she was just transferring my guilt onto my Mother. To me, it was one thing that the original OB/GYN has lectured me about my involvement with a boyfriend; but, to find out that I had been molested/raped by an adult really upset her although they moved, under cover of darkness right after the end of school
Ladies- Thanks for all the Happy Birthday wishes. I'm glad that I did not decide to skip over the previous pages.
Allie - Hope that everything works out or you and that Tom will soon be just a distance memory that you can move on and forget.
My BFF took me out to lunch and bought me a beautiful geranium for my birthday. We stopped into an upholstery material shop while in Americus. I've been debating about whether to recover my sofa again or buying a new one in 4 months when my chairs will be paid for or saving that money to recover. I found a beautiful piece and got it home and it looks like it goes with every chair in the room and the Oriental rug. I should have asked the lady about any 'repeat' pattern
May I make a suggestion that might help some of us who are sometimes away and still want to see names that we might be keeping up with. Easy to do. Once you have typed their names. This you can wait to do once you are finished and before you hit 'post'. Go back and double click on the names and then hit the "B" at the top and it will bold that name.
Not much has happened the end of the week and over the weekend.
Happy week to all of you, prayers for those who need them, congrats to those who are happy about something, and no drama for those who don't need it.
Down 2.5 pounds since last time. I will be wondering how much I lost after my 'food poisoning ordeal; I know it won't be permanent ... but a girl can wish ... especially after 2 days of not eating.

BArbara- What is this "Walk Tumble" that you post? KJ (picturing the late President Ford and his many tumbles while walking). KJ
