Marathon in 24 hours: excited, anxious, tense

Don't get *too* excited. It feels a whole lot better to go out slow and run the whole way, than to go out too fast and be compelled to take walk breaks in the last 3 miles. I've done both.

I was doing really good, but basically my life came crashing down, not literally, but just so much bad stuff happened and I couldnt even bring myself to run. Oh well. Really bummed though, I was training for a marathon in July, but due to all the bad crap that happened, I can not go because its 5 hours away and I have to deal with a lot of other stuff, but since Im not doing that one, I may do the local Marathon here in September. Not sure yet.

Sorry to hear this. I hope things take a turn for the better for you.

@angmarie28 Sorry to hear about your struggles. Hopefully you can find some peace and get out for a run to let the world slip by just for a little while.

It was the most amazing weather this morning! Sunny, 50 degrees F, a light breeze.... :)

I looked at the weather for next week and saw thunderstorms predicted from Tues-Sat. It’s probably a good thing - Mother Nature looking out for me. My old foot tendonits issue is starting to flare a little again. I keep looking at that stupid walking boot in my closet with dread. I think scaling my miles back next week might be a good idea.

April mileage goal = 125 miles / April miles complete = 145 miles

Big Hairy Audacious Goal: Sub 4 hours in Pittsburgh 2018!

    Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28

Next Races (more as I find them):

05/06/18 - Pittsburgh Marathon - aiming for sub four hours.
05/12/18 - Glacier Ridge 50k Trail Ultra (I must hate myself)

2020 - Disney World Dopey! (if can raise funds)

Went searching for the trail and found it. It is about 4 blocks down and seems pretty nice. It is a paved trail but there are places where it is park-like in atmosphere and it follows there river so there is that. Since I was walking and had a meeting to get back for, I did not get far but you can see it in this relive:

I missed yesterday’s run due to work. I worked two hours over and realized late afternoon that in dealing with crises all day, I had skipped breakfast and lunch (welcome to the world of a mental health director!). I figured it would not be wise to run after 24 hours without food. Today, I am having some foot pain, so I am going to hold off again since I have a 10k tomorrow morning.

Wish me luck on hopefully running my first sub-1 hour!

Good luck! You've got this.

I find it slightly amusing that at least 3 of us have been in DC this month- but not at the same time.
