Don't get *too* excited. It feels a whole lot better to go out slow and run the whole way, than to go out too fast and be compelled to take walk breaks in the last 3 miles. I've done both.3 -
juliet3455 wrote: »@7lenny7 & @MNLittleFinn are you guys having a down week. Couldn't believe the Strava Data when I took a look - I'm ahead of you this week by a huge margin
@juliet3455 that's a tight trio right there!
I had a 6 mile run planned for yesterday but in order to keep peace in the house I elected to skip it and finish the floor in the bathroom we're remodeling. I did get that done, so the boss is happy. I hope to have the bathroom functional, though not finished, next week.
I also had a residual pain in my right calf from the mud at Zumbro and decided that another day or rest would be best.
Check it after tomorrow. I'm heading to the marina to paint the bottom of our boat and get it ready for launch, but before that, I'll be stopping at a state park which overlooks the lake and going for 4 to 5 hours. I'd like to get 24 miles in, but I'm not sure how much elevation the trails there have and how much that will slow me down.
@NikolaosKey that race does sound a bit crazy. It reminds of my first 5K when they changed the course at the last minute but never bothered to tell the racers. The course was marked properly but the front-runners who knew the old course weren't paying attention to the course markings and crossed the finish line in the wrong direction.
Eventually there were runners crossing from BOTH directions!

Not a great run last night and I don't even know why. It was a beautiful day and I took it nice and easy. I did familiar routes, hilly, but not overly taxing. I did run through a neighborhood near my work that I haven't run through since winter. I was remembering my runs in the dark and freezing cold and all of the Christmas lights and thinking of the contrast between then and now, with people out mowing their lawns and trees in bloom. It makes you realize what a long road marathon training can be. Maybe that is why all I kept thinking during my run is " How much further do I have to go?"7 -

Really bummed though, I was training for a marathon in July, but due to all the bad crap that happened, I can not go because its 5 hours away and I have to deal with a lot of other stuff, but since Im not doing that one, I may do the local Marathon here in September. Not sure yet.15 -

It was the most amazing weather this morning! Sunny, 50 degrees F, a light breeze....
I looked at the weather for next week and saw thunderstorms predicted from Tues-Sat. It’s probably a good thing - Mother Nature looking out for me. My old foot tendonits issue is starting to flare a little again. I keep looking at that stupid walking boot in my closet with dread. I think scaling my miles back next week might be a good idea.
April mileage goal = 125 miles / April miles complete = 145 miles4 -
@lporter229 and @Scott6255 Thank you. Its just been crazy, but things are starting to work them selves out.1

Big Hairy Audacious Goal: Sub 4 hours in Pittsburgh 2018!
Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28
Next Races (more as I find them):
05/06/18 - Pittsburgh Marathon - aiming for sub four hours.
05/12/18 - Glacier Ridge 50k Trail Ultra (I must hate myself)
2020 - Disney World Dopey! (if can raise funds)
Went searching for the trail and found it. It is about 4 blocks down and seems pretty nice. It is a paved trail but there are places where it is park-like in atmosphere and it follows there river so there is that. Since I was walking and had a meeting to get back for, I did not get far but you can see it in this relive:

@angmarie28 Sorry that is happening too you I hope you can do the local marathon.0

I missed yesterday’s run due to work. I worked two hours over and realized late afternoon that in dealing with crises all day, I had skipped breakfast and lunch (welcome to the world of a mental health director!). I figured it would not be wise to run after 24 hours without food. Today, I am having some foot pain, so I am going to hold off again since I have a 10k tomorrow morning.
Wish me luck on hopefully running my first sub-1 hour!10 -

Good luck! You've got this.

@kristinegift - I'm so sorry about your Pacer's group. Maybe you could re-organize the group around another locale so you could keep running together?
@AlphaHowls - good luck tomorrow! you are going to do great!! Just remember what @PastorVincent said oh around mile 20 or so Hopefully it will still bring a smile and a giggle!
@ddmom0811 - congratulations to your Seniors! I think I want to go back and be in your class! We didn't get to have that many fun projects although I did write an assembler once
@NikolaosKey and @7lenny7 - both of those races sound crazy! I guess as long as you aren't really running for a time and are having fun it doesn't really matter!
@angmarie28 - I hope things get back on track for you soon and you can get in some running to work out some of that stress!
@marisap2010 - good luck on your 10k! The extra rest may just help but I hope you got some food today!
ETA - I love all the pictures of the bright colored shoes! Only problem is I am having a bad case of running shoe envy now and a difficult time not going looking for new shoes too5 -
I switched my long your that was on the plan for tomorrow to today because we have family things on the schedule for tomorrow. This way I didn't have to be rushed trying to get out to get it in. It may not have been the best idea after my pace rune yesterday that was followed by a tough legs centric strength training session last night. Lots of single leg lifts and hit step ups. I kept telling myself what better way to work out any DOMS than by a good LSR! It did honestly feel pretty darn good. I could tell by my HR in and around mile 6 that my body was getting pretty tired. I had to walk a bit to bring it back in line. By the time I got home at mile 8 my legs were done - stick a fork in them, so very done! Hopefully they will feel well enough for a short run tomorrow morning and then rest day on Sunday with a Vizsla meet up at the beach.

@AlphaHowls and @marisap2010 best of luck in your races! Hope you can achieve your goals and enjoy yourselves.
@angmarie28 I'm so sorry to hear things have not been going well for you. Wishing you the best and hoping things improve and you can do the marathon in the fall.
I was thinking of @skippygirlsmom - hope you are doing better and your ribs are healing.
And, don't know if anyone has heard from @eponine1984 but I'm really hoping she is doing well with her treatment. Thinking of you.
I took a total rest day today and loved every minute of it. Not just the break from running or circuit training (and even walking the dog) but the break from packing the gym bag, figuring out the schedule of when to do what, etc. Nice to have a day off. Tomorrow I'll do a shorter "long run" as I ease back into a regular running schedule.

I don't think I will hit my goal this month, but I will be close:
4 -
I made goal! I feel like I kind of cheated this month because I knew it would be a crazy month so I set a very achievable goal. But I figure it was better than giving up and not running at all. Now to think about my plan for next month...
11 -
I was 1st of 35 females at parkrun today! 8th overall of 61.
Did the 5 km in 26:58.
It was the parkrun's first anniversary, and there was a "Gold" theme, hence the wig and tutu.
22 -
Congratulations!!! @Orphia0
-
-
@Orphia well done goldilocks!1
-
I find it slightly amusing that at least 3 of us have been in DC this month- but not at the same time.4
-
5.45 km just before lunch today! Glad to squeeze that in since I didn't have a chance to get out yesterday. Now at 135.1 for the month, 35.1 over goal.5
